Objective To explore the psychological characteristics of the middle-aged female patients with brain tumors after surgery and provide theoretical instruction to improve their life quality. Methods The 30 meddle-aged female patients with brain tumors were evaluated with symptom checklist-90 (SCL-90) 2 weeks after surgery and the data would be compared with the mean of national norm ( 1999 ). Results The total scores of 17 meddle-aged female patients with brain tumors 2 weeks after surgery were higher than 160 (56.67%), the positive items number of 13 subjects were more than 43 (43.33%). Besides, four factors of SCL-90 were usually the highest among all factors, including anxiety ( 46. 67% ), depression ( 36. 37% ), obsesscompulsiveness (33.33%)and somatization symptoms (33.33%). All the factors of SCL-90 were significantly higher than those of norm ( 1999 ), except for paranoid ideation, sensitive relationship with people and psychotic factors. Conclusions Psychological states of the meddle-aged female patients with brain tumors were poorer than the national norm and susceptible to mental disorder 2 weeks after surgery.
