In this study, I developed an educational strategy model for sustainable development education and developed an example of a class module for sustainable development education based on this. In this education strategy model, emphasis was placed on identifying and recognizing sustainability through education for sustainable development. As necessary principles to grasp sustainability, an integrated approach between social culture, environment, and economic areas, which are the contents areas of sustainable development, pursuit of equity between generations, and the relationship between global and local, were established. Core learning types include the five types proposed by UNESCO to foster global citizenship in the 21st century: learning to know, learning to do, learning to exist, learning to live together, and learning for individual and social change. In terms of teaching-learning methods, concept learning, problem solving learning, decision-making learning, inquiry learning, simulation, stories, discussion and debate, and use of art works in terms of cultivating competencies necessary for understanding sustainability and implementing sustainable development were applied. Based on this, the subject of “Making a Sustainable Village” was set and related instructional module was developed and presented.
