Study Of Mangrove Ecotourism Gunung Anyar And Medokan Sawah Using The Concept Of RRR (Right, Restriction, Responsibility)

Abstract In 2018, the Surabaya City Government established the Kebun Raya Mangrove Surabaya as a form of conservation and as an implementation of the protection outlined in Regional Regulation Document Number 12 of 2014 on the Spatial Planning of Surabaya City for 2014-2034, which designates mangroves as a protected area in the form of ecotourism. In space utilization related to this area, the RRR (Right, Restriction, Responsibility) concept can be applied. The RRR concept is a land administration principle that provides a foundation for area management in terms of defining authority boundaries, responsibilities for management (Right and Responsibility), and management/utilization restrictions (Restriction). The importance of RRR in studying the utilization of the KRM Surabaya area is to emphasize licensing, boundaries with surrounding areas, and a sustainable environmental management system that can reduce conflicts and enhance positive aspects within the cadastral system. Through visual interpretation of aerial photos from 2016 and 2024 to identify changes in area size, analysis related to responsibility will be obtained, along with supporting data from relevant agencies to identify licensing and spatial planning boundaries. The result of this study is an analysis of the RRR concept in the utilization of the KRM Surabaya area.

Industry 5.0 Research in the Sustainable Information Systems Sector: A Scoping Review Analysis

Industry 4.0, centered on cyber-physical production systems, has been criticized for prioritizing profit over social and environmental concerns. In contrast, Industry 5.0 emphasizes AI efficiency while promoting human-centric, resilient, and sustainable approaches, integrating economic, social, and environmental systems. Previous research has often focused solely on conceptual frameworks and technologies, overlooking Industry 5.0's sector-specific impacts. This study addresses that gap by conducting a scoping review to map research findings, identify trends, and highlight knowledge gaps and future research opportunities. By systematically analyzing literature from the Scopus database (2016-present), the study refined a large dataset to focus on Industry 5.0's relevance. The analysis revealed significant attention to sectors like Industry and Producer Services, while Agriculture and Retail, particularly natural resource-based sectors like agriculture and fisheries, are often neglected. Key findings indicate that Industry 5.0 is likely to be driven by the industrial sector, followed by product services and financial industries. The study also highlights the strong connection between IoT and AI in optimizing operations with real-time data and automation and identifies blockchain as a promising technology for enhancing transparency and security, despite existing implementation challenges. This research not only serves as a foundational record of Industry 5.0's implications across various sectors but also provides valuable insights into its role in Information Systems (IS). It lays the groundwork for future exploration of Industry 5.0 in diverse sectors and industries.

Re-ISSUES—Renewable Energy-Linked Interoperable Smart and Sustainable Urban Environmental Systems

Smart cities will be smart if they improve their citizens’ quality of life; to do so, it is essential to listen to citizens and collaborate with service and technological companies. For that, digitalization seems essential. Environmental management systems are complex and expensive. If their lifecycle costs are reduced, these systems would be more sustainable. This can be achieved through citizen collaboration (CS), the use of low-cost Internet of Things (IoT) devices, and collaboration with local renewable energy businesses. All this leads to a real interoperability challenge. Systems engineering offers a valid framework for managing information and knowledge for environmental systems. It offers a range of guides for processes that can improve the quality of the related information and the reusability of knowledge throughout the lifecycles of these systems. After quantifying the opportunity and the cost for a motivational case of atmospheric neighborhood odor impact and introducing trends and opportunities in energy management, the authors propose a model for renewable energy-linked interoperable smart and sustainable urban environmental systems (re-ISSUES). The model’s ontology is used to discover research trends and potential for improvements to the model itself, enabling semantic interoperability and knowledge reuse.

The hidden concept and the beauty of multiple “R” in the framework of waste strategies development reflecting to circular economy principles

There are numerous unresolved research questions, along with ongoing debates, regarding how to achieve a circular economy and at what level. The forthcoming circular economy standard (ISO 59000 framework, ISO59010) as a result from the ISO/TC 323, from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) aims to offer global implementation pathways using a unified technical language. The most challenging aspect of circularity, whether viewed scientifically, technically, and/or legislatively, is how to enhance prosperity while reducing reliance on primary materials and energy to achieve climate neutrality by 2050, thereby aiding the EU in achieving a successful and equitable transition towards a sustainable future. Strategies in the framework of waste management and circular economy are essential and needed to reduce the impact of several processes on the environment through product, processes, and corporate policies using green applicable sustainable resources and environmental management systems. In addition, "measuring something that is not there" is very complex and not fully comprehensible, not clear and not tangible from organizations, researchers, policy makers and citizens. The willingness and ability of individuals or organizations to take actions towards a low-carbon society involves grappling with various perspectives, such as social norms and economic viability. Circular economy is considered a tool in combating climate change and implementing climate mitigation (as well as adaptation) measures. Moreover, to date, there has been no common scientific or technical language for the application of the circular economy concept. This paper highlights the multitude of "Rs" beyond the well-known (3Rs) Reduce-Reuse-Recycle pattern, which can be applied in various contexts to assist SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises), organizations and even citizens successfully adopt circular economy principles. Is also explores how these "Rs" can be utilized to measure intangible aspects (something that is not there). The results indicate that more than 55Rs exist which directly involved in the circular economy framework, also considering waste management strategies. The findings of this study reveal the existence of over 100 "Rs" beyond the well-known principles of "reduce, reuse, recycle," each playing a distinct role in the development of strategies aimed at addressing waste management issues and advancing circularity towards a low-carbon society. Furthermore, the results could be useful for any policy makers, consultants, engineers, practitioners, urban planners, academics etc., in order to develop, apply, monitor, measure and improve any strategy such as circular economy strategy, waste prevention, zero waste, reuse, reduce, energy recovery etc., in the framework of circular economy principles, solid waste management and beyond.

Influence of policymakers and civil society stakeholders on sewage sludge management strategies: Empirical results from European utilities

Sewage sludge management is crucial for water utilities to move towards a circular valorisation of resources. The current literature focuses mainly on the technological aspects of sludge management strategies. However, the current discussion of these strategies does not consider possible pressures arising from the utilities' civil society stakeholders and from policymakers. To fill this gap, this paper develops a conceptual framework, based on the current literature, that identifies the utility's key decisions on sludge management strategies (valorisation route, overperformance and vertical integration), and links them to possible pressures arising from civil society and existing regulations. Subsequently, the study validates the framework through a multiple explanatory case study, investigating the empirical relevance of such pressures in six water utilities across Europe. The influence of citizens and municipalities is found to be crucial in the choice of sludge valorisation routes. Economic instruments, command and control instruments and, new to the literature, regulatory uncertainty are found to be key policy features influencing utilities' decisions on sludge management. The paper provides a first-of-its-kind investigation that highlights the mechanisms through which policymakers and civil society stakeholders shape utilities' sewage sludge management strategies. The results complement and extend existing theoretical knowledge on the role of institutional pressures in the implementation of sustainable environmental systems.

Agriculture and Climate Change: A Socio-Economic Dynamics of Climate-Smart Practices in Oubritenga Province, Burkina Faso

The issue of farmers' resilience to climate and natural resource degradation remains a major concern in Sahelian countries, including Burkina Faso. The aim of this study is to analyze the dynamics of farming practices in the province of Oubritenga in Burkina Faso, highlighting similarities and differences in climate-smart practices. To do this, a mixed method (qualitative and quantitative) was used, combining surveys, individual interviews and focus groups. The results indicate that these practices were disseminated and adopted in Oubritenga province well before the 1980s, and that they have evolved in terms of adoption rates and improvements in recent years through research. The practices mentioned include sustainable land management (SLM), water and soil conservation practices/soil defense and restoration (WSC/SDR). Rural households are responding by adopting and reinforcing climate-smart farming practices that are considered more sustainable in the face of climate shock, soil degradation and greenhouse gas mitigation. It should be noted that other agricultural practices and techniques have been disseminated and adopted over time, in connection with mechanization and the promotion of technical production itineraries. This is a body of endogenous knowledge that coexists with technical production itineraries aimed at respecting the balance between nature and the well-being of living beings by integrating a sustainable land and environmental management system.

Optimizing air quality predictions: A discrete wavelet transform and long short‐term memory approach with wavelet‐type selection for hourly PM10 concentrations

AbstractThe rapid advancement of industrialization and urbanization has led to the global problem of air pollution. Air quality can decrease due to pollutants in the air, including types of gases and particles that are carcinogenic, causing adverse health effects. Therefore, estimating the concentration of air pollutants is of great interest as it can provide accurate information about air quality with proper planning of future activities. In this manner, this study considers Istanbul, a province with a high concentration of industry, population, and vehicle traffic. Particulate matter (PM), one of the most basic air pollutants, is stated to contain microscopic solids or liquid droplets that are small enough to be inhaled and cause serious health problems. Thus, it is recommended to apply discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and deep learning method long short‐term memory (LSTM) as a hybrid model to predict the concentration of PM10. Using the mentioned methods, they can predict air pollution to have been developed within the scope of this study. Furthermore, the hybrid approach with LSTM by selecting the most appropriate discrete wavelet type emphasizes the difference of this study from the existing literature. The ability of these developed methods to make successful future predictions helps institutions and organizations that can take precautions on the subject to take action at the right time; in addition, the deep learning methods used contribute to the development of sustainable smart environmental systems. In today's environment when air pollution is increasing and threatening human health, any precaution that can be taken would improve the quality of life for all living things, reduce health issues and deaths caused by air pollution, and thus raise the degree of well‐being. These findings might offer a reliable scientific evidence for Istanbul City's air pollution management, which can serve as an example for other regions.

Deep Neural Network Discipline and Consequence to be Achieved through Internet Implementation Dropdown

The difficulty of automatically modifying and updating operations within Deep Learning (DL) frameworks can slow down the performance of Deep Neural Network processing (DNNs). This research presents a novel approach to software optimization by leveraging dynamically collected profile data. A unique online auto-tuning system for DNNs was developed to enhance both the training and inference phases. Python Distributed Training of Neural Networks (PyDTNN) is a lightweight toolkit designed for distributed DNN training and estimation. It is utilized to evaluate the VGG19 model on two distinct multi-core architecture options. In testing, our auto-tuning system performs comparably, if not better, than a static selection strategy. The performance of each variation of PyDTNN that employs static selection remains consistently high throughout execution. Conversely, the auto-tuned version initially performs at a set level and progressively improves as more feasible choices become available. While both variations yield similar results in training, the selection strategy outperforms all other inference options by autonomously determining the best strategy for each layer in VGG19. The new online implementation selection tool assists in choosing the best performance option from numerous alternatives while the program is running. Its key features include constructing layered judgments and thoroughly examining 35 possibilities. Our advanced systems represent the optimal choice for monitoring sustainable environmental systems with maximum effectiveness, efficiency, and timeliness.

MXene-Coated Ion-Selective Electrode Sensors for Highly Stable and Selective Lithium Dynamics Monitoring.

Lithium holds immense significance in propelling sustainable energy and environmental systems forward. However, existing sensors used for lithium monitoring encounter issues concerning their selectivity and long-term durability. Addressing these challenges is crucial to ensure accurate and reliable lithium measurements during the lithium recovery processes. In response to these concerns, this study proposes a novel approach involving the use of an MXene composite membrane with incorporated poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) (PSS) as an antibiofouling layer on the Li+ ion selective electrode (ISE) sensors. The resulting MXene-PSS Li+ ISE sensor demonstrates exceptional electrochemical performance, showcasing a superior slope (59.42 mV/dec), lower detection limit (10-7.2 M), quicker response time (∼10 s), higher selectivity to Na+ (-2.37) and K+ (-2.54), and reduced impedance (106.9 kΩ) when compared to conventional Li+ ISE sensors. These improvements are attributed to the unique electronic conductivity and layered structure of the MXene-PSS nanosheet coating layer. In addition, the study exhibits the long-term accuracy and durability of the MXene-PSS Li+ ISE sensor by subjecting it to real wastewater testing for 14 days, resulting in sensor reading errors of less than 10% when compared to laboratory validation results. This research highlights the great potential of MXene nanosheet coatings in advancing sensor technology, particularly in challenging applications, such as detecting emerging contaminants and developing implantable biosensors. The findings offer promising prospects for future advancements in sensor technology, particularly in the context of sustainable energy and environmental monitoring.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the Fiqh principles in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in promoting sustainable and inclusive economic growth. In this research used research literature review. This research shows that the integration of Fiqh principles into the Economic Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can increase sustainable and inclusive economic growth. Fiqh principles have their own uniqueness and advantages in providing their own views in building a sustainable and inclusive economy. In this case, efforts are needed to build a fair and sustainable economy by considering environmental, social and economic aspects in a balanced manner, as well as reducing the excessive use of resources and increasing the efficiency of their use. In addition, it is also necessary to encourage the development of environmentally friendly and sustainable technologies, and develop an integrated and sustainable environmental management system.

The Disastrous Effects of Soil Salinity and pH on Environmental Systems

Soil salinity is a natural element of arid and semi-arid climates and it is becoming a growing concern in the soils across the world. When water-soluble salts build in a soil, it gets salinized. These salts contain chloride, sulphate, carbonate, bicarbonate and sodium in addition to potassium and magnesium. Due to shortage of oxygen, soil with a high salt level becomes incapable of supporting plant and animal life. This review discusses the causes of salinity, its impact on plant growth, their limits/standard in the environment systems and case studies of saline land. Besides this, salinity levels in streams and lands are generally rising as a result of rising groundwater levels. Most of the rural and urban communities have lost productive cropland and water supplies due to natural instability to these environments and human induced interferences. Crop productivity, seed germination soil and water quality are adversely affected by soil salinity. A coastal region is also particularly vulnerable to climate change. There is a need to study soil salinization and its measures in detail for sustainable environmental systems.

Forecasting GHG emissions for environmental protection with energy consumption reduction from renewable sources: A sustainable environmental system

• To propose novel techniques to predict greenhouse gas emissions and minimize energy consumption in renewable sources based on a sustainable environment. • The deep neural network has improved energy efficiency to predict greenhouse gas emissions using a statistic regression neural network. • This research proposed a novel technique in predicting greenhouse gas emission and minimization of energy consumption in renewable sources based on a sustainable environment. • Here, the greenhouse gas emission has been predicted using statistic regression neural network. The long-term viability of energy resources as a main input is essential to achieve long-term economic growth of a country and the energy efficiency significantly reduces energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, supporting environmental sustainability. As a result, a number of governments, led by those in the developed world, are making an effort to enact laws governing energy efficiency. This study suggests cutting-edge methods for forecasting greenhouse gas emissions and reducing energy demand from renewable sources based on a sustainable environment. Utilizing the statistical regression neural network (SRNN), greenhouse gas emissions have been predicted, and the deep neural network's (DNN) energy efficiency has increased. The SRNN_DNN intensity method out predicts evaluated MLR (multiple linear regression) and second- and third-order non-linear MPR (multiple polynomial regression) techniques according to MAPE (mean absolute percentage error) results. Furthermore, presented methods are considered suitable for computing GHG emissions due to the high accuracy of the SRNN DNN model. The anticipated greenhouse gas emissions related to energy were remarkably similar to the actual emissions of EU (European Union) nations.

The effect of cleaner and sustainable sewage fee-to-tax on business innovation

Can reform of “sewage fee-to-tax” promote corporate technological innovation by internalising environmental cost and strengthening environmental control? The difference between environmental tax and sewage charges were analysed along with summarising the economic consequences of environmental tax. The influence mechanism of the reform of “sewage fee-to-tax” on corporate technological innovation from the dual perspectives of tax and environmental regulation, based on tax theory, Porter hypothesis, and supply and demand theory, were explored. Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share listed companies about 1,150 in the years 2017–2021 are taken as the research sample. The impact of imposing environmental taxes on corporate technological innovation was empirically tested. It is found that imposing an environmental tax stimulates the innovation motivation of enterprises and significantly improves the input and output of corporate technology innovation. This paper has profound implications for perfecting the cleaner sustainable environmental tax system, stimulating corporate innovation, and promoting economic transformation.

Environmental assessment of rainwater harvesting and solar system for agriculture

As a result of increasing industrialisation and the use of machines, the demand for both energy and water are increasing. As a result, it is necessary to develop sustainable environmental structural systems in both energy production and irrigation water. This, in turn, requires the most accurate use of existing water resources and the immediate implementation of sustainable agricultural systems. Despite this, none of the agricultural enterprises are yet using systems such as rainwater harvesting and solar power techniques. The main aim of this research is to find effective results in terms of savings and to contribute to the prevention of water scarcity in the future. At the same time, the advantages of environmentally friendly zero-energy roofs and rainwater collection systems are evaluated. Elazig province of Turkey was selected for this study. When the benefits of the solar power plant to be built on the relevant farm and an average tree are compared in terms of reducing the CO2 emissions, it was found that the contribution of this plant would be equal to that of planting 113,506 trees.

Solid Minerals Blueprint for Sustainable Local Prospects and Development

Moving from a much more sustainable social, environmental and economic system confronts the government, the community, the people and the industry. There is far-reaching conceptualization of the necessity for minerals. The present status and blend for the production of minerals may well not be absolutely demanded by a more sustainable economy. But beneath any reasonable definition of necessity, there will be a significant need for some mineral products deep in the nearest future. In the recent world beamed with the rays of extremely competitiveness in which economic attainments rely widely on the ability to be innovative; Nigeria is only clamouring to attain a better innovation outcome. Irrespective of being one of the under-developed nations, globally, Nigeria still stands a strong dynamic Black- Africa by position of its headcount census and the economy. This study assessed the inherent innovation and endowment in Nigeria.

The progress toward more sustainable energy, water and environmental systems approaches and applications

This editorial provides an overview of ten scientific articles published as the Special paper selection in Thermal Science. The papers were selected from almost six hundred contributions, presented at the 16th Conference on Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems (SDEWES 2021), held on October 10-15, 2021 in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The topics covered in the Special paper selection include economics of electricity markets, nuclear technology, repowering of the coal-based power plant, hybrid renewable energy system, sustainable biomass handling and conversion, post-combustion emissions control, and efficient cooling technology. The editorial also emphasised the papers recently published in the Special Issues of leading scientific journals dedicated to the series of SDEWES Conferences.

Management of Phosphorus in Salinity-Stressed Agriculture for Sustainable Crop Production by Salt-Tolerant Phosphate-Solubilizing Bacteria—A Review

Among the environmental factors, soil salinity is one of the most detrimental factors affecting plant growth and productivity. Nutritional-imbalance is also known as one of the negative effects of salinity on plant growth and productivity. Among the essential plant nutrients, phosphorus (P) is a nutrient in which the uptake, transport, and distribution in plant is adversely affected by salinity-stress. Salinity-stress-mediated low a P availability limits the crop production. Adding additional P fertilizer is generally recommended to manage P deficit in saline-soils; however, the low-efficiency of available P fertilizer use in salt-affected soils, restricts P availability, and P fertilizers are also a cause of significant environmental concerns. The application of salinity-tolerant phosphate–solubilizing-bacteria (ST-PSB) can be as a greatly effective and economical way to improve the P availability, and recover the P-deficit in saline-land. This review focuses on soil salinization and its effect on P availability, the mechanisms of P solubilization by ST-PSB, ST-PSB diversity, their role in alleviating salinity stress in plants, the current and future scenarios of their use, and the potential application of this knowledge to manage the sustainable environmental system. According to this review, adding ST-PSB to saline soils could be an alternative for alleviating the negative effects of salinity on plants and may ameliorate salinity tolerance.

International Conference on Agriculture, Environment, and Food Security (AEFS) is a conference organized by Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Sumatera Utara which aimed to offer the opportunity for knowledge sharing, networking and collaboration between engineers, scientists, academicians, technologists and researchers working in agriculture, environment, and food technology sectors. AEFS has been held annually since 2017. The AEFS Conference deliberations for the last two year were on the following themes: agriculture, plantation and livestock for world food security (AEFS 2017) prospects and challenges of sustainable agriculture to improve food security and environment (AEFS 2018). For the 3rd AEFS 2019, the committee has chosen "Challenges on Food Security and Sovereignty in the Industrial Era 4.0" while for the 4th AEFS the theme was focused on Innovation and Technologies on Agricultural and Environmental Sustainability Systems with 6 selected tracks including Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Economics, Plant Science (Agronomy and Plantation, Plant Breeding, Biotechnology, Integrated Pest Management and Soil Science), Animal Science, Food Science and Technology, Marine and Fisheries Sciences.
