This study explores the application and impact of digital accounting among Individual Microentrepreneurs (MEIs) in Humaitá/AM. The research, of a bibliographic and descriptive nature, aims to understand the evolution of accounting from its beginnings to the current practices adopted by MEIs, highlighting the historical, technological and regional transformations that influence accounting practices. The analysis focuses on how digital accounting can be an effective tool for the financial management of small businesses, especially in remote regions such as Amazonas, where access to technological resources and professional training can be limited. The study also addresses the challenges faced by MEIs in adopting new accounting technologies, identifying the main barriers and proposing solutions that can facilitate the transition to more modern and efficient practices. The results indicate that, although digital accounting offers significant advantages in terms of efficiency and financial control, its implementation requires a continuous effort of training and adaptation to local realities. The conclusion suggests that digital accounting, when well implemented, can contribute significantly to the economic development and sustainability of small businesses in Humaitá/AM, promoting more effective and strategic financial management.

Disruptive innovation capability in resource-constrained environments: The role of strategic posture and human capital

The disruptive innovation framework has been suggested to enhance new venture sustainability in resource-constrained contexts. This paper explores the role of human capital and strategic posture on disruptive innovation capability in low-income and resource-constrained environments. Using a generic qualitative inquiry strategy, we develop propositions tested by 20 in-depth interviews with entrepreneurs and industry role players in the South African startup incubation sector. Data from the interviews were analyzed through thematic analysis with constant comparison. The findings suggest that adopting an emerging market orientation and taking strategic risks assists in identifying the right consumer target market. Innovativeness is linked to effective product development processes, and a learning orientation contributes to the development of the skills and capabilities required for successful innovation in resource-constrained environments. Additionally, the findings emphasize prior founder knowledge and industry experience in shaping the strategic posture of entrepreneurs. Resource-constrained contexts vary significantly across regions. Our study contributes to the body of knowledge on disruptive innovations and small business sustainability in resource-constrained environments by investigating entrepreneurial dynamics in South Africa.

Sustainable small business lending

Banks are the main source of external funding for small businesses. Thus, integrating sustainability considerations in small business lending can support global sustainability efforts. In surveying German banks, I show that banks are in the process of implementing sustainable small business lending. They put more emphasis on sustainability risks than on the transformation of the business model among small businesses. Sustainable relationship lending has some relevance in creating sustainability-related soft information, although respective hard information is preferred by banks. Banks and policymakers can use the findings to better apply sustainable small business lending to sustainability and resilience efforts.

This research was conducted to evaluate the impact of Murabahah financing on the performance of MSMEs, with a case study of Dilola Snack in Medan. Murabahah financing has become one of the main choices for MSMEs in meeting their working capital needs because of its transparent nature and in accordance with sharia principles. In an economic context that continues to develop, MSMEs often face challenges in accessing financing that is in accordance with Islamic values. Therefore, it is important to understand the extent to which this financing can support the growth and sustainability of small businesses. The method used in this research is observation and in-depth interviews with the owner of Dilola Snack to obtain relevant and comprehensive data. The research results show that Murabahah financing has a significant positive impact on increasing production capacity, operational efficiency and new product development. However, margin payment obligations require careful cash flow management to maintain business sustainability. Overall, Murabahah financing has been proven to support the growth of MSMEs while still complying with sharia principles.

This study aims to analyze sustainability strategies for small businesses in the agricultural sector, focusing on identifying factors that influence productivity and business sustainability. Key strategies that can help enhance the sustainability of small agricultural businesses include product diversification. The research was conducted over three days on May 19, 20, and 21, 2024, at the Women's Farming Group (KWT) in Ciputat, led by Mrs. Sri Agustin, who is also the neighborhood head. Data were collected from 30 members of the Garuda 12 Women's Farming Group in Cipayung, Ciputat, South Tangerang, ensuring that the selected respondents have high relevance to the research topic. The method used is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques included literature study, observation, and interviews with ten KWT members. The results highlight the importance of efficient food resource management, adoption of agricultural technology, market development and marketing, education and training, policy support, and access to financing. Financing for small businesses in the agricultural sector requires sustained support from various parties, including the government, financial institutions, and the private sector. With these various sources of financing, it is expected that small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises can grow better and contribute more significantly to the national economy. By implementing these strategies, small businesses in the agricultural sector can enhance their resilience and contribution to the economy. Effective strategies are necessary to ensure the continuity and growth of these small businesses. This study aims to identify and analyze strategies that can improve productivity, profitability, and sustainability of small businesses in the agricultural sector. The approaches include product diversification, adoption of modern technology, supply chain optimization, and strengthened market access. Product diversification helps farmers reduce risk and maximize income. Adoption of modern technology, such as smart irrigation and drone use for land monitoring, increases efficiency and production yields. Owner-Manager Attitudes to Soft Skills Training in Malta’s Small Enterprises

A study of owner-manager attitudes to soft skills training in Malta and how these affect their small and micro businesses, and their learning as entrepreneurs. Talent retention and development may be overlooked when examining sustainable small business practice. In fact, training can help firms retain and develop a diverse range of employees, including those underrepresented in the workforce locally: upgrading skills rather than being caught in disruptive and expensive recruitment cycles (Bridge and O’Neill 2017; Klaus 2010). Training in soft skills (including interpersonal, communication, and listening skills as well as EQ) can provide a route to sustainable business growth. Studies as early as 2006 (such as Beaujean et al.) indicate that growing strong customer relationships is a crucial factor in achieving a competitive edge. Furthermore, the ‘impact of frontline emotional intelligence on the bottom line is clear’ and therefore work to encourage and develop such skills in employees is significant and worthwhile (Beaujean et al. 2006). This approach aligns well with key aspirations of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, especially number 9 (UN 2023). The attitudes of owner-managers, therefore, will certainly influence both whether soft skills are valued in the enterprise and whether all employees are offered training in these areas. This, in turn, may affect whether the business reaches its full potential.

The first stage is developing and applying TTG machines in natural resource management. The second stage is implementing the TTG machine for community empowerment (strategic opportunities and challenges). The third stage is implementing TTG machines to manage abundant natural resource potential. The fourth stage is the promotion of TTG machines for community empowerment in the Implementation of Law No. 6 of 2014. The fifth stage is the design and method of making the TTG machine.

The focus is on analyzing the effectiveness of these initiatives, their impact on economic development and the sustainability of small businesses in various industries.

Digital Skills Required for the Sustainability of Small-Scale Businesses in Nigeria

The study examines the digital skills required for the sustainability of small-scale businesses in Nigeria. To accomplish the goal of the study, two research questions and corresponding null hypotheses were developed to direct the investigation. Data were gathered using a researcher-designed instrument called the "Digital Skills Required for the Sustainability of Small-Scale Business Questionnaire (DSRSSSBQ)”. A survey research strategy was chosen for the study. Thirty-five (35) registered small businesses in total provided feedback on the instrument. The study's statistical methods included descriptive statistics and an independent t-test. The results of this study showed that the sustainability of small businesses in Nigeria greatly depends on having the necessary content marketing skills (CMS) and mobile phone marketing skills (MPMS). According to the research, among other recommendations, it was advised that owners of small enterprises adopt the use of digital marketing skills to improve the sustainability of their business’s operations, particularly in the 21st century's electronic age.

Intellectual capital, green innovation, and financial performance: The mediating role of sustainability

This research aims to find out how internal resources, intellectual capital, and green innovation in West Java's creative industries can improve small businesses financial performance. Besides, this research also examines the sustainability of small businesses in mediating the effect of intellectual capital and green innovation on financial performance. The research sample consists of 335 respondents who are owners and creative industry workers in West Java, Indonesia. The data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results indicate that Intellectual Capital (IC ) and green innovation improve financial performance and sustainability. This research establishes a mediator role for sustainability in the interaction between intellectual capital, green innovation, and financial success. This study demonstrates the significance of sustainability in helping small businesses achieve high financial performance. This study highlights the significance of integrating sustainability practices inside the small business sector to optimize revenues through the utilization of internal resources, including intellectual capital and green technologies. This study offers practical implications for small businesses in Indonesia, suggesting that sustainability should be implemented to improve financial performance.

Measuring Entrepreneurial Skills and Sustainability in Small Business Enterprises Post-Pandemic: Empirical Study From Cross River State, Nigeria

In an attempt to understand the underlying factors contributing to the high failure rate of small and medium-sized businesses in Nigeria, there is a need to focus on the extent to which the entrepreneurial skills of the operators impact the businesses. Therefore, the study aims to identify entrepreneurial skills required for sustainable small business enterprises in Calabar Metropolis of Cross River State, Nigeria. Two research questions were posed to guide the study. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design, and multistage sampling techniques was observed. The stratified and accidental sampling techniques were used to arrive at the selected sample of four hundred (400) registered small business enterprises operating in Cross Rivers State. A structured questionnaire titled “Questionnaire for Entrepreneurial Skills Required for Sustainable Small Business Enterprises in Calabar Metropolis” (QESRSSBECM) was used for data collection. The Cronbach Alpha Reliability test was used to determine the reliability of the instrument, which availed a high internal consistency of the instrument at 0.76 - 0.83. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze data gathered for the research using SPSS version 21.0. The research findings revealed that risk management and ICT skills are required for sustainable small business enterprises in Calabar Metropolis in the post-covid era. It was recommended, among others, that small business enterprise operators in Calabar Metropolis and Nigeria should be trained on developing their risk management practices and ICT capacities through advocacy, on-the-job training, seminars, and conferences.
