NARRATIVE TEXT AS THE MATERIAL TO INTEGRATE LITERATURE IN EFL CLASS

Presently, teachers are required to be creative and innovative in teaching. Many techniques can be used to shape the class so that it is attractive to students. One way is to pay more attention to the material to be delivered. Literature is one of the approaches that will interest students in EFL class. Therefore, the authors want to examine the implementation of literature in secondary schools. Narrative text is one kind of literature that is frequently used as language material in secondary schools. So, this study intends to determine the practice of narrative texts in EFL class. The research in this article uses descriptive qualitative methods and uses library research. Furthermore, interviews also form the basis of analysis in this study. The speaker is a 9th grade English teacher at MTs Surya Buana Malang. The data was acquired using unstructured questions thru WhatsApp and met in individual. The researchers examined the data, using the information from the interviews. This study discovered several learning strategies applied by teachers in teaching narrative texts, the learner’s challenges experienced in learning narrative text. In conclusion, the discussion shows that narrative text can develop students' English skills. Narrative text is an effective medium in teaching English and builds students enthusiasm during learning activities.

Integrating Islam on geometry student worksheets to facilitate mathematical and religious literacy of junior high school students

This study aims to analyze the validity level, practicality level, effectiveness and influence of the Islamic integrated Geometry Student worksheet on mathematical literacy and religious literacy of junior high school students. The research method used in this study is Research and Development with the ADDIE development design, namely Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The subject of the product assessment for the feasibility of the Islamic Integrated Geometry Student Worksheet (students worksheets) is limited to four experts: learning and language design experts, media and graphic design experts, mathematics materials experts and Islamic integration, as well as school mathematics teaching practitioners. The subjects related to the product trial were all class VIII MTs Surya Buana Malang City students. The research instruments used were interview guidelines, validation sheets, observation sheets, student and teacher response questionnaires, mathematical literacy tests, and religious literacy questionnaires. Qualitative data analysis was carried out according to Miles & Hubberman's steps, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion. Quantitative data in validity and practicality are presented as percentages and categories. This research produces a product in the form of an Islamic integrated geometry student worksheet. The validation results show that the Islamic Integrated Geometry Student Worksheet meets the valid criteria of 89.21%. Student responses showed that the Islamic integrated student worksheet product was very practical, with a percentage of 86.56%. At the same time, the teacher assessed that this student's worksheets were very practical, with a percentage of 86.67%. The results of the effectiveness test obtained an average of 85.68%, while the results of the t-test from the pretest and posttest obtained a Sig value. 0.001 and a Sig value of 0.004 for religious literacy. Thus, there is a significant difference between before and after using the Islamic Integrated geometry student worksheet on students' mathematical and religious literacy.

Influence of Market Mix Strategy (Marketing Mix) Towards the Increase in the Number of New Students of SDIT Ar-Treatise Seteluk

Background: Education is one of the efforts made to improve the quality of human resources which in essence helps, humans, to be smart, smart and smart. The school is one provides institutions that provide education and learning for children who are not only normal but also have special needs.
 
 Objective: To explain the effect of the educational marketing mix at SDIT Ar-Risalah on the increase in the number of students.
 
 Method: Based on the title proposed by the researcher, namely "The Effect of Educational Marketing Mix on the Improvement of Students at SDIT Ar-Risalah Seteluk", this study uses quantification research, which is a process where research data in the form of numbers, then analyzed using statistical tests.
 
 Results: Education services at SDI Surya Buana and MIN Malang 2 prioritize efforts to fulfill customer satisfaction. Marketing strategies in improving the image are carried out, namely direct, indirect, differentiation, and financing. The impact of marketing strategies and their implications on imaging at SDI Surya Buana and MIN Malang 2.
 
 Conclusion: From the results of data analysis and discussion, the author can conclude that: Marketing Mix has a positive and significant effect on the Increase of Students at SDIT Ar-Risalah Seteluk.

Learning of Akidah Akhlak Using Smart Wheel Media at MTS Surya Buana Malang City

This study aims to describe the learning process of Akidah Akhlak using Smart Wheel as the media, and the implementation of Smart Wheel media. This Research carried out by using a qualitative approach, through cases study type of research. Subject of the research are Akidah Akhlak teacher and 8th graders students, the research was taken in Madrasah Tsanawiyah Surya Buana in Malang City. The data collection techniques are observation, interview, and documentation, as for the results: First, the teacher makes or prepares list of questions. Second, students spin the wheel until stops. Third, students see the questions or commands in each column, then students answer the question based on where the arrow’s stop, and the last step is the teacher gives grade to students from 0-100 based on the students answer. This smart wheel media makes students interested in Aqidah Akhlak class and encourage a creative sense in KD 3.2 which is about commendable morality for themselves, through the smart wheel media in learning Akidah Akhlak. Students are very enthusiastic and the teacher easily conveys the material by using the smart wheel media

Development of mE-Book Based Practical Arabic syntax

The development of practical Arabic syntax based on mE-Book teaching materials is regarding printed materials that are less effectively applied in online learning. This research and development (RD) aimed at developing practical Arabic syntax teaching materials based on mE-Book for more effective learning without limited space and time using the ADDIE design model. It was carried out through 5 stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The implementation phase was carried out using a blended learning model. The research results were: 1) the teaching material format is HTML (based flash) published using kvisoft flipbook maker pro 4.2.2.0 software. 2) the teaching material consists of an outside and inside covers, a sample material, a task/question, i'rab, qawaid, a bibliography, and a back cover. 3) the learning video was in the form of a webcam with the help of PowerPoint software and an O-Matic screencast. The results of the assessment were as follow: from material experts was 82% (eligible), from language expert was 100% (very decent), from media expert was 96% (very decent), from students' interest test was 90% (very feasible), from educator response test was 84% (very feasible). The effectiveness test of the large group obtained an average posttest score of 85 and average pretest score of 75. The overall results show that mE-Book practical Arabic syntax is feasible at SMA Surya Buana Malang.

Learning Al-Qur'an Hadith Subjects Through Problem Solving Strategy

This research aims to find out the study of the Qur’an Hadith through problem solving strategy in MTs Surya Buana Malang. The focus of the problem to be reviewed is: learning planning, learning implementation, and evaluation. This research is qualitative research. This type of research is field research with data collection techniques using interview, observations and documentations. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the learning of the Qur'an Hadith consists of: 1. Learning planning of the Qur'an Hadith through problem solving strategy consists of syllabus and Learning Implementation Plan. 2. The implementation of the learning of the Qur'an Hadith, opening the lesson by giving important points and reviewing the material, presenting the material then closing the lesson by reviewing, for the implementation of problem solving strategy on the material of the Qur'an Hadith from the results of this study is declared successful. 3. Evaluation of the learning of the Qur'an Hadith, the teacher uses several types of evaluations such as multiple choice, essay or stuffing, and quiz, the teacher behaves ma'fu (tolerance) so that his students can improve the evaluation value.

The Effect of Inquiry Learning with Scaffolding on Misconception of Light Material among Fourth-Grade Students

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of Inquiry learning with scaffolding to decrease the percentage of light material misconception among fourth-grade students. The method used was Quasi-experimental with a non-equivalent control group design. The population was fourth-grade students of the Surya Buana Islamic Elementary School, Malang. The result of Anacova showed that for the “Class” variable, the value of Significance (P-value) obtained was smaller than the α significance level of 0,006 < 0,05. Based on the results of the Anacova test it was concluded that there was a significant effect from the use of Inquiry learning with scaffolding to decrease the percentage of light material misconception in fourth-grade students of Surya Buana Islamic Elementary School, Malang. The average percentage of students’ misconceptions in the experimental class at the initial conception was 38.7% and dropped to 15.4% in conception after inquiry learning with scaffolding. While the average percentage of students’ misconceptions of control class at the initial conception was 37.8% and dropped became 22.7% at conception after conventional learning. The decrease in the percentage of students’ misconceptions of the experimental class was greater than the control class by a difference of 10.7%. Further research is suggested to examine more deeply the effect of inquiry learning with scaffolding on process skill, learning achievement, and other aspects of learning that are likely to be developed in students.

Impresi Tindak Tutur Tidak Langsung Tidak Literal terhadap Kepekaan Sosial Peserta Didik dalam Pembelajaran di MTs Surya Buana Malang

The purposes of this study were to describe: (1) the form of indirect non-literal speech acts during learning at MTs Surya Buana Malang, (2) the function of indirect non-literal speech acts during learning at MTs Surya Buana Malang, and (3) the impressions of indirect non-literal speech acts to the social sensitivity of students at MTs Surya Buana Malang. The type of this study was qualitative with a descriptive technique. The sources of data covered the teachers and students of MTs Surya Buana Malang with the data in the form of words or utterances. The data were collected by means of recording, observing, and taking notes. Data processing techniques included: 1)making conversation transcripts and 2) describing the findings in the form of forms, functions, and impressions made by speech acts on social sensitivity during learning. Data analysis used pragmatic matching methods. The results of the study showed that there were four forms of indirect non-literal speech acts during learning with the functions of ordering, prohibiting, and requesting. Impressions or effects arising from indirect non-literal speech acts extended to being able to build students 'social sensitivity and to provide stimuli for students' social sensitivity so that they were more responsive to heed the teacher's speech

The Importance of Applying Parenting Education Program for The Student’s Parent in Elementary School

Parents are the child's first mentors in the learning process at home. Some parents feel unable to guide children at home. Parenting Education Program (PEP) has the opportunity as a solution to help parents guide their children at home. This study focuses on the definition, application, benefits and importance of Parenting Education Programs. The results of this study include: (1) PEP is a training program held by schools to provide guidance in the form of knowledge and skills to parents; (2) The application of PEP has been applied in several elementary schools, namely SDIT Ar Raihan Bantul, SD Surya Buana Malang and SD Insan Teratai Tangerang; (3) The benefits of PEP are establishing a good relationship between school and parents, increasing parental knowledge and increasing parental confidence; (4) PES is important to be implemented in many elementary schools that do not directly involve parents in children's education

Implementation of Full Day School Based on Islamic culture for strengthening The Religious Character of Students in Matsasurba Malang

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this research is to find out and describe (1) the concept and implementation of full day school based on Islamic culture for strengthening religious character of students at the Islamic Junior High School Surya Buana Malang (2) the inhibiting and supporting factors, (3) the solutions to deal with the inhibiting factors that emerging. This research method uses descriptive research with a qualitative approach, collecting data through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed qualitatively, through stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and data verification, along with data validity techniques using triangulation techniques. The result of this study showed that (1) the concept of full day school that applied is islamic full day school by focusing on strengthening the religious character of students. The implementationof full day school based on Islamic culture aims to make to make students have good character through the habituation that is carried out since students enter school until after school. (2) the inhibiting factors consist of diverse inputs, location and school regulations. Supporting factors consist of internal and external support. (3) the solutions to deal with the inhibiting factors that emerging is to provide special guidance, increase religious activities, comunnication and cooperation with parents of students.

PENANAMAN NILAI FILANTROPI ISLAM DI LEMBAGA PENDIDIKAN (STUDI KASUS SDI SURYA BUANA KOTA MALANG)

This study seeks to present how the process of planting the value of Islamic Philanthropy in educational institutions. This study aims to investigate the planting of philanthropic values among students at the Islamic Surya Buana Elementary School in Malang. To find out the implementation of the activities of planting the value of Islamic philanthropy (zakat, infaq, and sadaqah) at SD Islam Surya Buana, Malang. This research is qualitative research with qualitative descriptive research. the results of this study indicate that the process of planting philanthropic values in educational institutions through various forms of activities such as the Friday morning charity, Palestinian fundraising and fundraising for victims of natural disasters.

Students’ Mathematical Thinking Process Involving Equal Signs

The purpose of this research is to know the process of students’ mathematical thinking in solving mathematics problems involving equal sign. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative using two stages such as testing and interviewing. This research was conducted at Sekolah Dasar Islam Surya Buana Malang and held at 5th grade involved 30 students, after having the test, will be continued the interview. The interviewed was conducting with two students who choosed based on the communication’s ability; so the students be able to explain the responding that has been given. Based on the result of this study most students understood that the equal sign as a symbol to obtain the results of a calculation. This result also shows that there are students who can understand equal sign as equality, however that understanding just limited to the equal sign with closed type, while in open type all students did not understand. It can be concluded that students more understand the equal sign as an operational symbol. This result is suggested to the teachers to introduce the meaning of equal sign to students especially relating to equality.

Analysis of students’ mathematical problem solving ability as the effect of constant ill-structured problem’s employment

This study aimed to give more detailed comprehension on how students’ mathematical problem solving ability improved when ill-structured problem constantly employed for a particular period of time. The study was descriptive qualitative research and conducted in MTs Surya Buana, Malang, East Java, Indonesia. The subject consisted of 27 students from eighth-grade, where they were distributed into 7 groups of 3 or 4. The most significant improvements were students gained new skill in (1) formulating problems as well as new insight on seeing all possibilities in solving problems; (2) constructing resolution plan; (3) doing investigation as well as judging the validity of the information retrieved; and (4) evaluating solutions according to mathematical concepts. Based on these results, the use of ill-structured problem and active scaffolding from the teacher are highly recommended in mathematics instruction.

Implementation of Communicative Method as an Effort to Increase the Student’s Arabic Language Ability (Case Study at SDI Surya Buana Malang)

The purpose of this study was to determine the results of the communicative method in improving the ability of mahârah al-kalâm , barriers to its implementation, and how to overcome communication barriers to the students at SDI Surya Buana Malang class VA for one semester in the 2018/2019 academic year. This research employed qualitative methods by taking field data or case study research. The data was collected by using observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The result of the research showed that there was no improvement in students' mahârah al-kalâm through the application of the communicative method. Students could only use short sentences in Arabic that had been memorized. The obstacle during the implementation of the communicative method was that the students were not fluent in reading iqra’ which resulted in the hardship of reading Arabic. Lack of Arabic lessons in schools caused inadequate Arabic learning process and students' lack of memorization of mufradât caused some difficulties in learning sessions. An effort to overcome these obstacles was that the teacher must provide extra sessions for students who could not read iqra’ fluently. Schools must also give extra sessions for Arabic lessons, and the teacher instructed all students to memorize vocabulary in accordance to the theme of the lesson.

دراسة حالة عن ميول طلبة في تعلم اللغة العربية بالمدارس المتوسطة الإسلامية بمالانج وباتو

The research aims to discuss the motivation of students (Case Study) in Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri (MTs.N) 1 Malang, Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri (MTs.N) Batu, Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs.) Surya Buana Malang unfortunate to learning Arabic. The methodology used by the researchers in this study is a quantitative method. As for the results of the students' responses to three aspects, namely cognitive, effective and concentration aspects through filling in student motivation questionnaires, interviews, and observations in learning Arabic as a whole of MTs.N Batu 2.76%, that can be grouped into medium. Then aspects of the student's interest in learning Arabic are overall average in MTs.N 1 Malang 2.71% so that the poor can be grouped in category medium, and aspects of the student's interest in learning Arabic as a whole on average in MTs. Surya Buana are 2.67% so it can be grouped in group Medium. Based on the analysis of data that has been discussed that the interest of students in MTs.N 1 Malang, MTs.N Batu, MTs. Surya Buana are classified into group Medium.

THE EFFECTIVENESS OF INDIRECT WRITTEN CORRECTION ON ENGLISH WRITING SKILLS

This study purposed to gain the difference between students’ academic performance in writing skills who are taught by using indirect written correction and those do not. The research design used quasi-experimental design because this study did not do randomization. In this experimental design, the researcher used two classes to become the subject. One class was experimental class which treated by using indirect correction technique while the other class was control class which was not treated by using indirect correction technique. The subject of this study was seven grade in MTs Pontren Surya Buana Malang.; 7C became control group and 7D was became experimental group. Both of groups consisted 24 students. Both of groups consisted 35 students. This data used t-test to find the significant difference of both groups. The result was difference between two groups 17, 16 and the std. deviation difference is 0, 92. T-test count =18, 591 t- table =1, 679 and p-value 0.000 α (0, 05). It applied that the technique was effective. The conclusion is indirect correction technique is effective to teach writing skills. Then, it is suggested to the teacher to apply or implement a different writing technique to practice and improve the students’ writing, especially by using corrective feedback that have been practiced before. The next researchers can use another technique in their research such as direct corrective feedback because this research uses indirect corrective feedback to improve writing skills

The Application of Peace Building Education Based on Local Wisdom in Malang Surya Buana Islamic Boarding School

The purpose of the study aims to find out local wisdom that could enhance and empower the material of religiosity teaching module to create the peace building education that will initiate harmonious and peaceful social life building in Malang. The data collecting process covered questionnaire, in-depth interviews, class observations, focused group discussion in some activities of students in Malang Surya Buana Islamic Boarding School. The results of the study were the fact that local wisdom could enhance and empower the material of religiosity teaching module to create the peace building education that will initiate harmonious and peaceful social life building in Malang.

Student’s misconception of digestive system materials in MTs eight grade of Malang city and the role of teacher’s pedadogic competency in MTs

Misconception research has important value in the development of students' thinking processes especially in science field. As the identification of important concepts that must be mastered by the students can be done, the teacher will easily able to emphasis the important or main concepts. This study aims to identify the students’ misconception in digestive system materials in eight grade of MTs and teacher pedagogic competence role. The survey was conducted in 8A (16 students) and 8B (17 students) MTs Muhammadiyah 1 and 8E (19 students) Surya Buana Malang. The stages of research survey were: preparation of research goals (formulation), sample determination, preparation and instruments validation, data collection, and data analysis. The instruments used were: misconception test, student response questionnaire, learning observation guide, and teacher pedagogic competency form. The findings of the learning outcomes were discussed with the observer team, which then were assessed by using the assessment rubric and classified into the categories of student misconceptions. The results showed that the three teachers, neither certified nor uncertified were proved to be limited in overcoming misconceptions in the learning process; meanwhile, the results of students’ misconception test were mostly reach only level 3 (medium). Thus, the study of misconceptions of the digestive system material or other physiological material matter needs to get the attention of the teachers and educational practitioners.

Agroedutourism Model to Improve Environmental Awareness of Students in Some Elementary School in Malang Raya, East Java

This research aimed to build specific agroedutourism model for elementary school students in Malang Raya. Target of this research were 5th grade students from SDN Ketawanggede 2, SDN Sumberngepoh 02 and SDI Surya Buana. We provided three agroedutourism programs, there were 1). Learning on farmer’s friends and enemies, 2). Learning on plants as raw material for biopesticide and natural attractant and 3). Learning on healthy agroecosystem. Each agroedutourism program was composed by discussion, eco-games and taste of healthy foods. Data obtained by distributing questionnaires and analyzed by open source software, Smart PLS (Partial Least Square). Agroedutourism model from PLS output showed that learning on farmer’s friends and enemies program was the most effective to improve cognitive competence, enjoyment, pleasure, and the final-understanding of elementary school students than the other programs. While, initial-understanding directly contributing to improve cognitive competence and final-understanding of elementary school students. Cognitive competences directly influence to improve the student’s appraisal of foods that were obtained. Student enjoyment directly influence to affection and appreciation. Based on those models, to improve final-understanding, we had to improve initial-understanding using learning on farmer’s friends and enemies program. Students’ appreciation was improved by improving affection and appreciation. Keywords: agroedutourism, appreciation, cognitive, environmental awareness.
