The spatial distribution of surface and groundwater abstractions in Slovakia in the period 2013–2022 vs 2022

Abstract. In recent years, the impacts of climate change have become increasingly apparent; Slovakia has witnessed a rise in extreme weather conditions caused by climate change. To address these challenges, we analyze and prepare documents focused on monitoring and issuing drought warnings. These documents, including Slovakia's water resource balance, serve as fundamental materials for water management planning. The water resource balance assesses the relationship between water demands and available resources in the past year, identifying areas and times where water demands exceed supply. Additionally, our analysis provides a detailed map of surface and groundwater abstractions across Slovakia, categorizing total and individual abstractions by sector (e.g., public water supply systems, agriculture, and industry). We present surface and groundwater abstraction averages for the period of the last decade 2013–2022, along with its spatial distribution in Slovak districts. This comprehensive approach enables us to better understand and manage our water resources effectively.

Deciphering the molecular complexity: Employing density functional theory to probe 2-aminopyridinium 4-methyl benzene sulfonate elucidates synthesis methodologies, spectroscopic trends, reactivity patterns, molecular dynamics, and antibacterial properties

Harnessing computational modeling with density functional theory (DFT) and the B3LYP functional, delved into molecular geometry, harmonic spectra, and vibrational spectra for 2-aminopyridinium 4-methylbenzene sulfonate (2AP4MBS). Leveraging VEDA software to conduct a detailed investigation into oscillation spectra, particularly focusing on both quantitative and qualitative facets of infrared (IR) and Raman spectra. Our work also explored natural bonding orbitals, Fukui analysis, RDG analysis, and net Mulliken charge calculations, hinting at potential charge transfer within the molecule. Experimental validation of UV–Vis spectroscopic analyses was conducted. Electron density homology surface mapping via electrostatic potential interface (ESP) revealed insights into size, shape, charge density distribution, and reactivity sites. Topological features were elucidated through ELF and LOL maps.Docking simulations shed light on binding energy and interactions with peptide molecules, offering potential pharmaceutical applications following Lipinski criteria and ADMET framework assessments.

Evaluation of a Structured Light Scanner for 3D Facial Imaging: A Comparative Study with Direct Anthropometry.

This study evaluates the accuracy and repeatability of craniofacial measurements with a 3D light scanner, specifically the EINSTAR scanner, in comparison to traditional caliper measurements for facial anthropometry. Eleven volunteers were assessed by two examiners, one experienced and one inexperienced, who performed direct caliper measurements and indirect measurements using the scanner. Results indicated minimal differences between caliper and scanner results, with overall high accuracy and reliability demonstrated by correlation coefficients. Despite the slightly longer scanning time, the benefits of 3D imaging, including detailed surface mapping and virtual modeling, justify its integration into clinical practice, particularly in maxillofacial surgery and craniofacial assessment. Craniofacial measurements obtained with the EINSTAR scanner showed excellent reliability and accuracy, which qualifies this method for clinical and scientific use.

Mechanical Efficiency of Photochromic Nanomotors, From First Principles.

Photochromic molecular motors hold promise for a multitude of potential applications in fields ranging from medicine to communications and structural repair. Yet, it is still a challenge to predict their mechanical efficiency. Here, azobenzene is explored as a representative light-driven nanomotor and estimate its quantum yield of photoisomerization and maximum mechanical efficiency. This is based on first-principles mapping of the 3D potential energy surfaces for the ground and excited states of the trans and cis configurations and identifying the minimum energy pathway for isomerization. A work cycle is devised and identifies force constant as the parameter that resembles temperature in the Carnot heat engine, but with very different efficiencies. The results show that the optomechanical efficiency of azobenzene at constant load is about 5% albeit under ideal conditions. To test the hypothesis, the study also explores the optomechanical efficiency of stilbene and 2-butene and shows that their efficiency does not exceed 5%.

Investigation on Physicochemical Properties of Nonlinear Optical (NLO) Single Crystal: Rubidium Hydrogen Fumarate

A solvent evaporation method produced an optically high-quality semiorganic single crystal of Rubidium hydrogen fumarate (RbHF) at room temperature. The structural analysis reported that the RbHF crystallized in triclinic crystal system with centrosymmetric space group P1¯. The Powder XRD pattern indicates the grown crystal have good crystalline nature. FTIR spectroscopy examined the functional group and bonding in the grown molecule. A optical transparency of about 88% were observed in RbHF and having energy bandgap of 3.9 eV were calculated using Tauc’s plot. The grown crystals were thermally stable upto 170°C. Mechanical and dielectric analysis has been carried and their properties were discussed in detail. Intermolecular interactions were studied using Hirshfeld surface maps and 2D fingerprint plots. The grown crystal have positive photoconductivity nature. A Z-scan were used to study the third order NLO response in RbHF crystal. The third order nonlinear susceptibility of RbHF crystal was estimated as (χ3) = 1.60244 × 10-08 esu, nonlinear absorption coefficient (β) = 6.39395 × 10-5 cm2/W and nonlinear refractive index (n2) = 9.15822 × 10-12 cm/W. The observed results of the RbHF single crystal show, it has the potential application in optical and optoelectronic devices.

3D surface defect map for assessing buccolingual profile of single tooth gaps following alveolar ridge preservation.

A new, non-invasive approach suggests using single intraoral optical scanning to analyze the ridge profile of single-tooth gaps following alveolar ridge preservation in the absence of a baseline scan. This method involves creating a three-dimensional (3D) surface map to identify and assess contour changes and ridge profiles based on the adjacent teeth. The present study was designed as a cross-sectional pilot analysis on a convenience sample of patients undergoing alveolar ridge preservation. Intraoral optical scans were taken on 23 patients, capturing data from 30 edentulous sites. The digital models were then imported into an image analysis software for a 3D surface defect map analysis performed by one examiner. This analysis characterized the buccolingual profile of the single tooth gap relative to the adjacent teeth. 10 linear divergence points, spaced 0.5 mm apart in a corona-apical direction, were identified at the midfacial aspect of the sites. Based on these points the sites were plotted and grouped in three different buccolingual profiles (linear, concave, and convex). Clinical parameters including Keratinized mucosa Width (KMW), and soft tissue phenotype with Colorvue biotype probes were also recorded. Three different buccolingual patterns (linear, convex, and concave) were identified. Seven sites exhibited a linear profile, 10 sites displayed a concave shape, and 13 showed a convex profile. The linear profile had surface discrepancies similar to the neighboring teeth. In contrast, the convex profile revealed mid-buccal discrepancy localized only at the crestal aspect, while the concave had an extended divergence ranging from 1 to 5 mm below the soft tissue margin. Univariate and multiple logistic regression analyses did not reveal any statistically significant variables influencing profilometric analysis; however, when combining phenotype and KMW, thick phenotypes demonstrated a higher proportion of concavity (OR = 4.83) compared to thin ones, suggesting a significant trend. With every 1 mm of increase in KMW, the probability of showing a concavity decreased (p = 0.057). A 3D surface defect map represents a useful tool for objectively quantifying ridge defects and profiles by assessing profilometric and surface differences compared to adjacent dentition using a single intraoral scan. This method also indicates that KMW may play a critical role in preventing concavity defects. The 3D defect map can guide decision-making during soft tissue augmentation procedures by emphasizing the specific location of the defect and providing more detailed insights into its localization. These parameters can enable the tailoring of flap management and soft tissue grafting strategies to address the patient's individual needs.

Petrographic and geochemical analysis of lunar meteorite NWA 11788: Parallels with Luna 20 and the Apollo magnesian granulites

AbstractThe first in‐depth geochemical and petrological analyses of new lunar meteorite Northwest Africa (NWA) 11788 were conducted with the aim of better understanding the diversity of lunar rock types. Petrography, microcomputed tomography, electron probe microanalysis, and laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry were employed to analyze mineralogic/elemental makeup, petrologic profile, melt history, and inferred composition of the lunar mantle from which the crystals in this sample originated from. Geochemical maps of the lunar surface were generated to constrain potential lunar launch locations for NWA 11788. Potential launch locations are concentrated in the outer rims of impact basins on the lunar Eastern nearside limb (e.g., Crisium, Fecunditatis, Marginis, Smythii) and around the South Pole–Aitken Basin. Similarities in the major, minor, and trace element chemistry of NWA 11788 along with its potential launch locations suggest a petrogenetic relationship with regolith samples returned from the Luna 20 mission and the Apollo 16 and 17 magnesian granulites. Additionally, the results of this study add to the growing body of evidence that KREEP (potassium, rare earth elements, phosphorous)‐poor, Mg‐suite‐“like” lithologies are common in non‐Apollo‐type locales, that KREEP may not be required to generate lithologies like the Mg‐suite, and that KREEP is not globally distributed at present.

Seismic Inversion Techniques and Attribute Analysis for Accurate Well Placement in Offshore Niger Delta Basin, Nigeria

Before this study, simple methods like seismic attribute analysis have often been used for reservoir characterization with successes however, there is still the need to reduce exploration uncertainty to a negligible level and boost investors’ confidence. This study integrated seismic inversion with seismic attribute analysis to better characterize the reservoirs in MTW Field in deep-offshore Niger Delta Basin. Five (5) wells with complete suite of petrophysical logs, three-Dimensional (3-D) seismic data, checkshot and other well information were used. The well data were thoroughly quality checked, reservoirs were litho-stratigraphically delineated and used for petrophysical analysis across the wells. This was followed by seismic-to- well-tie, seismic interpretation, and seismic attribute analysis (Root Mean Square-RMS) generated using depth surface maps. 3-D static reservoir model and volumetric evaluation were carried out. Petrophysical properties were derived and distributed across the 3-D static model using sequential gaussian simulation algorithm to ascertain shale volume spread across the model. To improve the seismic resolution and reduce interpretation uncertainty at greater depth, model- based post-stack seismic inversion was performed to obtain acoustic impedance cube. Litho-stratigraphic and petrophysical analysis result revealed five reservoir sands (A, B, C, D, and E). Reservoir-A was seen to be more viable with a thickness of 13.42 m, high effective porosity of 27%, permeability of 3187.53 mD, low water saturation of 34% and low shale volume of 11% which are indication good reservoir quality and producibility. The seismic interpretation revealed thirty-one (31) growth and antithetic faults oriented in the NE-SW and NW-SE directions, respectively. The RMS result revealed high amplitude reflectivity which is a measure of zone of interest. Based on this, seven (7) prospects and three (3) leads were identified. The seismic inversion result shows a high level of accuracy with a correlation coefficient of 0.997; 0.997; 0.995; and 0.996 in MTW-001, MTW-003ST1, MTW-004ST1 and MTW-005 wells, respectively. The acoustic impedance successfully resolved and improved on the resolution of the seismic stacking velocity especially at reservoir layers and at depth deeper than 3600 ms. Acoustic impedance as a layer property has improved on the lateral and vertical resolutions of the data beyond what the usual seismic interval velocity could image thus, validating some of the prospects and leads identified in this study. This demonstrated that uncertainty can be reduced by a blend of RMS and seismic inversion in identifying reservoir for accurate placement of wells. It is therefore recommended that E and P operators should adopt the technique in their future hydrocarbon exploration endeavor in frontier and matured basins.

A Novel Approach of Surface Texture Mapping for Cone-Beam Computed Tomography in Image-Guided Surgical Navigation.

The demand for cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging in clinics, particularly in dentistry, is rapidly increasing. Preoperative surgical planning is crucial to achieving desired treatment outcomes for imaging-guided surgical navigation. However, the lack of surface texture hinders effective communication between clinicians and patients, and the accuracy of superimposing a textured surface onto CBCT volume is limited by dissimilarity and registration based on facial features. To address these issues, this study presents a CBCT imaging system integrated with a monocular camera for reconstructing the texture surface by mapping it onto a 3D surface model created from CBCT images. The proposed method utilizes a geometric calibration tool for accurate mapping of the camera-visible surface with the mosaic texture. Additionally, a novel approach using 3D-2D feature mapping and surface parameterization technology is proposed for texture surface reconstruction. Experimental results, obtained from both real and simulation data, validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach with an error reduction to 0.32 mm and automated generation of integrated images. These findings demonstrate the robustness and high accuracy of our approach, improving the performance of texture mapping in CBCT imaging.

Comprehensive analysis of Indacaterol and Theophylline molecules: insights from DFT, FTIR, Raman, UV, molecular docking, and ADMET studies

In this study, the structural, vibrational, and biological properties of Indacaterol and Theophylline were thoroughly investigated using quantum chemical and spectroscopic methods, and then compared with experimental FTIR, Raman, and UV–Vis data. The analysis revealed that electronegative oxygen and nitrogen atoms in both molecules facilitate charge transfers, resulting in the shortening of C–C bonds. The HOMO–LUMO energy gaps were found to be 4.298 eV for Indacaterol and 5.170 eV for Theophylline, indicating that Indacaterol is more bioactive. The electrophilic index values suggest that Indacaterol is more electrophilic, potentially offering a higher affinity for protein binding. Molecular electrostatic potential surface maps indicated that electrophilic regions are concentrated near the oxygen and nitrogen atoms, which was corroborated by molecular docking analysis. Binding affinities of Indacaterol and Theophylline to COVID-19 main protease proteins were calculated, showing higher affinities for Indacaterol. Drug likeness, physicochemical, and ADMET results suggest that both molecules have favorable pharmacokinetic profiles and comply with Lipinski’s Rule of Five, indicating effective absorption and distribution. Overall, the study suggests that Indacaterol and Theophylline could function as inhibitors against SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19 proteins, with Indacaterol potentially being more effective.

3D Structure of Low‐Angle Normal Faults and Tectono‐Sedimentary Processes of Nascent Continental Core‐Complexes in the SE South China Sea

AbstractThis contribution explores the formation and evolution of hyper‐extended basins, associated with the early stage of core complex formation, controlled by low‐angle normal faults active at <30°. Based on a high‐resolution industrial 3D seismic reflection survey along the southern margin of the South China Sea (SCS) (Dangerous Grounds), we mapped and analyzed the 3D geometry of low‐angle normal fault systems and the related stratigraphy. Two main hyper‐extended basins were documented, filled by up to 6 km of sediments including pre‐ to post‐rift sequences. The observed normal faults on depth migrated seismic sections show an average dip angle of <30° and appear planar, characterized by continuous reflections with no clear steepening at depth and sole‐out on distinct decollement levels. Detailed fault surface mapping reveals the occurrence of km‐scale corrugations together with large wavelength undulation. The formation of these hyper‐extended basins is associated with polyphased syn‐rift infill during the development of the low‐angle normal faults. The first syn‐rift sequence appears as chaotic and discontinuous packages that has been dismembered and fragmented during the activity of low‐angle normal faults. The second syn‐rift package shows unexpected sedimentary wedges developing successively toward the footwall and the hangingwall. This geometry results from the interplay between the main low‐angle normal fault and antithetic faults defining a so‐called extensional fishtail. The deep structure of these basins shows nascent domes with limited evidence of magmatism. Eventually, these basins likely capture the earliest stage of core complex development in the proximal margin of the southern SCS.

Far–field tectonic controls on deposition in the Appalachian Basin – A case study of Late Cambrian–Late Ordovician strata in Morrow County, Ohio

Far–field tectonics can often be overlooked when studying orogens, particularly when much of the deformation occurs near the loading loci. As stresses are propagated further from the loading into the craton, whether compressional, extensional, or shear, faults and fractures within the basement often act as pathways for stress transmission, traveling along these pre-existing planes of weakness, or creating new. The Appalachian Basin in the eastern United States is a classic foreland basin example that showcases far-field tectonic influence on deposition and structure. This study characterizes the structural architecture of the basement along the western Appalachian Basin margin by analyzing well log data from 2,662 wells to create structure, isopach, trend surface, and residual maps of Late Cambrian through Upper Ordovician strata (Knox through Black River). Fourteen lineaments interpreted as faults were delineated, creating two series of horsts and grabens. The northeast–southwest faults are related to structures that formed during Keweenawan extension, and the northwest–southeast faults are related to structures that formed during the Grenville Orogeny. Both sets of faults stem from the Precambrian basement and are shown to have been reactivated during the Blountian Tectophase of the Taconian Orogeny (Black Riverian deposition), creating localized thinning and thinning adjacent to the lineaments. Furthermore, these faults appear to have undergone additional reactivation since the deposition of these strata in a transtensional regime to create the observed horst and graben structures. Overall, far–field tectonics plays an important role in understanding the geologic history of a basin.

3D code for MAgneto-Thermal evolution in Isolated Neutron Stars, MATINS: thermal evolution and light curves

ABSTRACT The thermal evolution of isolated neutron stars is a key element in unravelling their internal structure and composition and establishing evolutionary connections among different observational subclasses. Previous studies have predominantly focused on one-dimensional or axisymmetric two-dimensional models. In this study, we present the thermal evolution component of the novel three-dimensional magnetothermal code MATINS (MAgneto-Thermal evolution of Isolated Neutron Star). MATINS employs a finite volume scheme and integrates a realistic background structure, along with state-of-the-art microphysical calculations for the conductivities, neutrino emissivities, heat capacity, and superfluid gap models. This paper outlines the methodology employed to solve the thermal evolution equations in MATINS, along with the microphysical implementation that is essential for the thermal component. We test the accuracy of the code and present simulations with non-evolving magnetic fields of different configurations (all with electrical currents confined to the crust and a magnetic field that does not thread the core), to produce temperature maps of the neutron star surface. Additionally, for a specific magnetic field configuration, we show one fully coupled evolution of magnetic field and temperature. Subsequently, we use a ray-tracing code to link the neutron star surface temperature maps obtained by MATINS with the phase-resolved spectra and pulsed profiles that would be detected by distant observers. This study, together with our previous article focused on the magnetic formalism, presents in detail the most advanced evolutionary code for isolated neutron stars, with the aim of comparison with their timing properties, thermal luminosities and the associated X-ray light curves.

Experimental study of the collision behavior between moving and sessile droplets on curved surfaces

In this study, we used pure water droplets to investigate the collision interactions of two droplets on curved surfaces. We captured the collision dynamics at different droplet impact velocities with the use of a high-speed camera. We observed three main modes during droplet collisions: deformation, coalescence, and rebound. We also plotted a collision regime map for different surfaces using the Weber number We and presented the critical We value for coalescence and rebound. With the increases of curvature radius, the critical We variates around 6.7 to 12.3 and presenting the tendency of increases first and then decreases. Furthermore, we quantitatively analyzed the transformation laws of droplet rebound height and compression value. Our main findings describe how the surface curvature radius influences droplet interactions, thus affecting the contact time, compression value and droplet deformation factor. The outcomes of droplet collisions on curved surfaces contribute to the development of technologies related to droplet manipulation and their applications in chemical and industrial processes.

The Study of Pigments in Cultural Heritage: A Review Using Machine Learning

In this review, topic modeling—an unsupervised machine learning tool—is employed to analyze research on pigments in cultural heritage published from 1999–2023. The review answers the following question: What are topics and time trends in the past three decades in the analytical study of pigments within cultural heritage (CH) assets? In total, 932 articles are reviewed, ten topics are identified and time trends in the share of these topics are revealed. Each topic is discussed in-depth to elucidate the community, purpose and tools involved in the topic. The time trend analysis shows that dominant topics over time include T1 (the spectroscopic and microscopic study of the stratigraphy of painted CH assets) and T5 (X-ray based techniques for CH, conservation science and archaeometry). However, both topics have experienced a decrease in attention in favor of other topics that more than doubled their topic share, enabled by new technologies and methods for imaging spectroscopy and imaging processing. These topics include T6 (spectral imaging techniques for chemical mapping of painting surfaces) and T10 (the technical study of the pigments and painting methods of historical and contemporary artists). Implications for the field are discussed in conclusion.

DFT/MM Simulations for Cycloreversion Reaction of Cyclobutane Pyrimidine Dimer with Deprotonated and Protonated E283.

DNA photolyase targets the primary ultraviolet (UV)-induced DNA lesion─cyclobutane pyrimidine dimer (CPD), attaches to it, and catalyzes its dissociation. The catalytic mechanism of DNA photolyase and the role of the conserved residue E283 remain subjects of debate. This study employs two-dimensional potential energy surface maps and minimum free energy paths calculated at the ωB97XD/6-31G/MM level to elucidate these mechanisms. Results suggest that the catalytic process follows a sequential, stepwise reaction in which the C5-C5 and C6-C6 bonds are cleaved in order, facilitated by a protonated E283. Activation free energies for these cleavages are calculated at 4.4 and 4.2 kcal·mol-1, respectively. Protonation of E283 reduces electrostatic repulsion with CPD and forms dual hydrogen bonds with it and provides better solvation, stabilizing the CPD radical anion, particularly during intermediate state. This stabilization renders the initial splitting step exergonic, slows reverse reactions of the C5-C5 bond cleavage and electron transfer, and ensures a high quantum yield. Furthermore, the protonation state of E283 significantly affects the type of bond cleavage. Other residues in the active site were also investigated for their roles in the mechanism.

SOA: Seed point offset attention for indoor 3D object detection in point clouds

Three-dimensional object detection plays a pivotal role in scene understanding and holds significant importance in various indoor perception applications. Traditional methods based on Hough voting are susceptible to interference from background points or neighboring objects when casting votes for the target’s center from each seed point. Moreover, fixed-size set abstraction modules may result in the loss of structural information for large objects. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a three-dimensional object detection model based on seed point offset attention. The objective of this model is to enhance the model’s resilience to voting noise interference and alleviate feature loss for large-scale objects. Specifically, a seed point offset tensor is first defined, and then the offset tensor self-attention network is employed to learn the weights between votes, thereby establishing a correlation between the voting semantic features and the object structural information. Furthermore, an object surface perception module is introduced, which incorporates detailed features of local object surfaces into global feature representations through vote backtracking and surface mapping. Experimental results indicate that the model achieved excellent performance on the ScanNet-V2 (mAP@0.5, 60.3%) and SUN RGB-D (mAP@0.5, 64.0%) datasets, respectively improving by 2.6% (mAP@0.5) and 5.4% (mAP@0.5) compared to VoteNet.

Diisopropylammonium hydrogen squarate: Synthesis and comprehensive analysis of non-linear optical co-crystal using X-ray, Hirshfeld, mechanical, optical and DFT methods

This research successfully synthesized a single co-crystal of diisopropylammonium hydrogen squarate using prolonged vaporization for crystal growth. Single-crystal X-ray spectrometry confirmed its monoclinic structure, and morphological predictions were made. UV–visible spectroscopy revealed its optical transmittance with a direct optical energy band gap of 3.45 eV. Photoluminescence studies showed a strong violet emission at 402 nm when excited by a 260 nm source. Microhardness study examined the crystal's mechanical attributes portraying the normal indentation size effect followed by a qualitative overview of half-penny crack dynamics. FTIR study aided in the discernment of varied vibrational modes with NH stretching being observed at 3078 cm−1. Thermal examination further revealed the crystal's stability up till 244 °C. Proton and carbon-13 NMR spectra were analyzed to verify the presence of functional groups and the overall molecular integrity. Intermolecular interactions were analyzed using Hirshfeld surface and fingerprint mapping. The Z-scan technique demonstrated the crystal's applicative potential in its third harmonic generation capability. Theoretical calculations with Density Functional Theory (DFT) supported the experimental findings, offering insights into optimized geometries, frontier molecular orbitals, natural population and bond orbital distributions, hyperpolarizability, molecular electrostatic potentials, IR vibrational modes, and UV absorbance profiles.

Syntheses, crystal structures, luminescence properties and Hirshfeld surface analyses of two mononuclear 2,2′:6′,2′’-terpyridine lanthanide complexes with different β-diketones

Six ternary lanthanide complexes with different β-diketones as primary “antenna” ligand and 2,2’:6’,2’’-terpyridine as neutral ancillary ligand, namely [Ln(hfac)3(tpy)] [Ln(III) = Eu (1), Gd (2), Tb (3); hfac = hexafluoroacetylacetone; tpy = 2,2’:6’,2’’-terpyridine] and [Ln(btfa)3(tpy)] [Ln(III) = Eu (4), Gd (5), Tb (6); btfa = 4,4,4-trifluoro-1-phenyl-1,3-butanedione], were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, single crystal X-ray diffraction and powder X-ray diffraction. The three-dimensional Hirshfeld surface map and two-dimensional fingerprint analysis reveal that the substitution of hfac with btfa result in the decrease of the H···F/F···H and F···F interactions and the increase of the C···H/H···C and H···H interactions. Solid-state luminescence investigations indicate that the Eu(III) complexes (1-Eu and 4-Eu) and the Tb(III) complexes (3-Tb and 6-Tb) display the characteristic lanthanide-centered luminescence upon UV excitations. 1-Eu and 4-Eu emit red light at CIE: 0.6827, 0.3172 and CIE: 0.6819, 0.3179 with the quantum yields (QY) of 78.70 % and 68.85 % and the lifetimes (τ) of 0.768 and 0.808 ms, respectively. 3-Tb and 6-Tb emit green light at CIE: 0.2677, 0.7221 and CIE: 0.2680, 0.7217 with the QY values of 7.56 % and 1.38 % and the τ values of 0.076 and 0.022 ms, respectively. For the Eu(III) complexes, the substitution of hfac by btfa makes the QY value lower from 78.70 % to 68.85 % and slightly prolong the τ value from 0.768 to 0.808 ms, while for the Tb(III) complexes, both of the QY and τ values decrease. The results suggest that the structures of the primary β-diketone ligands could affect the luminescence performances such as QY and τ values of the Eu(III) and Tb(III) complexes.
