Application of POE (Predict-Observe-Explain) Learning Strategies to Reduce Students' Misconceptions in Science Subjects in Elementary School

Concept is a very important part in the process of acquiring knowledge in various studies including science. The reality, students have not mastered the concept of science properly or have a different initial conception with the correct concept so that it has difficulty in using the concepts possessed to explain various kinds of natural phenomena in daily life. The purpose of this study is to describe that the Predict-Observe-Explain strategy can reduce student's misconceptions in elementary school. This research includes a Pre-Experiment research with One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The subjects in this study were students of class V SDN Krembangan Selatan I Surabaya with a total of 12 children in a limited test. Data analysis techniques using quantitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that (1) the conception profile before learning with the POE strategy obtained an average of 67% of all research subjects had misconceptions for each concept item. (2) the conception profile after learning with the POE strategy obtained an average of 7.4% of all research subjects have misconceptions for each concept item (3) learning to use POE strategies can reduce student's misconceptions on science subjects material force and motion, characteristics of living things, and objects or materials

THE EFFECT OF QUANTUM LEARNING ASSISTED BY AUDIO VISUAL ON THE SELF EFFICACY OF FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS

This study aims to determine the effect of the quantum learning model assisted by audio visual media on the self efficacy of fifth grade student in social studies subject in Elementary School at Gugus III Tembuku, Bangli in the academic year 2019/2020. This research was a quasi experimental study with a nonequivalent posttest only control grup design. The populations in this study were all fifth grade students of Gugus III Tembuku, Bangli in the academic year 2019/2020 with 186 students. The research sample consisted of 34 students in grade 5 of SD Negeri 5 Yangapi as an experimental grup and fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Yangapi as a control group with 26 students. This research used data collection methods with non test techniques. The non-test technique used was a questionnaire to look for self-efficacy data for fifth grade students in social studies subjects. The data of this study were analyzed with descriptive analysis techniques and inferential statistics (t-test). The average acquisition of the experimental group questionnaire was 98, while the average results of the control group questionnaire was 89, 96. Based on the significance level of 5% and dk = 58, it was obtained ttable = 2.001 while the value of tcount = 4.935. So tcount> ttable which proved that H0 is rejected and H1 was accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that there was an influence of the quantum learning model assisted by audio visual media on the self efficacy of Grade 5 students in Social Sciences of Elementary School Gugus III Tembuku, Bangli in the academic year 2019/2020.

ENGLISH CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AT SDNU BANAT BANIN LAMONGAN

In this modern era, learning English is a must for every human. therefore, learning English at early level is better done. This time, it is determined that English subjects in elementary schools are local content group subjects whose status is as elective subjects, so the material is determined by each school. This research was using Qualitative descriptive. It is about An Analysis English Curriculum Development at SDNU Banat Banin lamongan. The Subject of the research was the teacher and the 5-grade at SDNU Banat Banin Lamongan in the academic year of 2019/2020. There are 30 students. The finding of the research, the curriculum applied at SDNU Banat Banin Lamongan was the 2013 curriculum and the researcher found four aspects that are done by SDNU Banat Banin Lamongan as curriculum development in learning English starting from the purpose of curriculum development, learning material, learning methods, and learning evaluation and the material presented in fifth grade in SDNU Banat Banin Lamongan is grammar, translating text, making sentences, and knowing the difference in the meaning of a word and once every week on Wednesday there is a habit of Speaking English . IMPROVE COGNITIVE ABILITIES AND LEARNING MOTIVATION STUDENT IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WITH SCIENTIFIC APPROACHES AND STORYTELLING ACTIVITIES

This research has been conducting to get a picture of improving cognitive abilities and learning motivation of students who get natural science subjects in elementary schools with a scientific approach and storytelling activities. The study has been conducting using quasi-experimental methods with a randomized one-group pretest-posttest design. The population is all grade IV students of SD Negeri 7 Jakarta. A sample of one class has been selecting by random cluster sampling. The sample of this research was class IV C, with 30 students. Test instruments in the form of essay tests were 15 items, and learning motivation questionnaires were 12 items with five options using the Likert Scale. The data has been processing with the help of SPSS 22 software. The results showed that there was an increase in students' cognitive abilities with a gain value of 0.55 in the medium category. Student learning motivation has been obtaining an increase of 85.76% in the top category.

Web based E-teacher for history subject in elementary school

E-learning is the growing in modern education.We developed a system of e-learning for the specific subject(history), which we named e-teacher. The aim of this e-teacher isto make teaching and specifically testing and knowledgeassessment easier and more objective. System is basically website, at which students can register and participate in teachingand testing. System consists of number of different types of tests(two-week, monthly, three-months, final test), which on regulartime periods make assessment of student’s knowledge and theirprogress. Finally, this platform makes final mark for everystudent. The system tends to make teaching and testing objectiveand in a sense force students to study on the regular basis.System can also be used for evaluation of teachers and theirwork.

RANCANGAN BANGUN KOMIK SEJARAH PERSIAPAN KEMERDEKAAN INDONESIA PADA MATA PELAJARAN IPS di SD

Presentation of historical material in social studies learning in elementary schools, in general, still uses media in the form of textbooks. Not many media are available so learning activities become menotonous and unattractive. The presence of media is very important in the learning process. This study aims to determine the feasibility of comic-based learning media media on historical concepts in social studies in grade V elementary school. This research is a development research in 4 stages of implementation, namely research and information gathering, planning, developing the initial form of the product, and validating. The results of the evaluation of comic media are shown by an average score, namely material expert I at 88% with a very decent category, material expert II at 90.33% with a very decent category, media expert at 95% with a very decent category. Based on the results of expert tests, educators and limited trials, comic media in social studies subjects in elementary schools are in the very feasible category and can be used as learning media.

Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris dengan Metode Cerita, Percakapan, Latihan, dan Karya Wisata Bagi Anak Usia Sekolah Di Dusun Sambisari, Kalasan, Sleman, Yogyakarta

English in the era Industrial Revolution 4.0 became the main requirement in various sectors. Indonesia educational fields gave attention for English subject so that became a local content subject in elementary school. In providing foreign language skills to elementary school children, it needs certain methods to suit their world. Learning English for elementary school children should be suitable for their needs, such learning through play, active learning, effective learning, and fun. The aim of community service is to know the learning methods that are more preffered by the elementary school children and to provide basic knowledge on kinds of material such ‘how to introduce your self’, ‘direction’, ‘5W + 1H’. From its activities, it is found that the learning methods that is most preffered by the female elementary school children are story telling method, while games method more chosen by the male of school age children. There is an increase in knowledge of participants related to basic material ‘how to introduce your self’, ‘direction’, ‘5W + 1H’, it is proven by the results of the post test that has been done. The knowledge value of participants as many as 15 elementary school age children before learning is ± 62.80 and after the community service is ± 80.33.Keywords: Learning English, elementary school age children, learning methods

Belajar Berdasar Regulasi Diri: Ditinjau Dari Jenis Pendidikan

This study aims to determine whether there are differences in learning based on students' self regulation MI Miftahul Ulum who follow character education and SDN 1 Bangsring characters that follow the conventional education with the control of emotional intelligence. This study involve 100 subjects in fifth grade elementary school, eachs were 50 students who followed the character education and 50 students who followed the conventional education. This study is use the analysis of covariance. This study showed that: there are differences in learning based on self-regulation among students who follow the character education with students who follow a conventional education. This is evidenced by the acquisition of the F = 8.531 (p <0.05). the effective character education to enhance self-learning ability based regulation.

Teaching as a Calling and Well-Being of Slovenian and Croatian Teachers

In a sample of 347 elementary school subject teachers from Slovenia (N = 176) and Croatia (N = 171), the authors investigated teachers’ orientations to work (as a job, a career, and a calling) and their well-being with respect to different stages of teachers’ professional development. Results have shown the presence of a calling orientation to work and its positive relationship to job satisfaction and life satisfaction. Although significant differences between Slovenian and Croatian teachers were not expected due to shared historical, cultural and political background, some interesting differences were observed. The results of MANOVA showed that teachers differed significantly in their work orientations regarding nationality and the length of their working experience. Results were discussed in the context of stages of professional development and the social status of teachers in both countries.

OPTIMALISASI TES PRESTASI BUATAN GURU MATA PELAJARAN IPS SD UNTUK EVALUASI PEMBELAJARAN YANG PRESISI

The research goal is to develop an accurate learning evaluation instrument in Social science (IPS) subject in elementary school. The method used is Research and Development, following the 4 main steps of the Richey RDPE model, namely: research, design, production and evaluation. Field trials were carried out 2 times, with the number of respondents increasing each stage. Analysis of item characteristics uses classical test theory. The results of the development are in the form of achievement tests for Social science subjects at the fifth grade of elementary school, consisting of 35 multiple choice items and 5 essay items. The test was developed by following the standards for writing a proper test, all procedures taken have been approved by experts from a qualitative perspective. Item analysis is performed for multiple choice tests with 94.3% of questions have moderate difficulty level, the range of index values is 0.53-0.67. 80% of the items have good differentiation, the average index value is 0.30-0.50. Optimization of teacher-made achievement tests produces more qualified test kits in performing measurement functions, as evidenced by the scores obtained by students which accurately describe their real abilities during the learning process

Approach of Software Education based on Makers’ Activities in Practical Arts Subject

2015개정 교육과정은 초등학교의 실과교과에서 소프트웨어교육을 의무화 하였으며, 최근에 메이커 활동이 교육의 새로운 화두가 되고 있다. 이 연구는 실과 교과와 메이커 활동의 밀접성을 확인하고 메이커 활동 기반의 소프트웨어 교육 방안을 제안하고자 수행되었다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 실과 교과의 단원과 연계한 5가지의 메이커 활동 주제를 도출하였으며, 각 주제에 소프트웨어 학습 요소를 반영할 수 있었다. 둘째, 메이커 활동 기반의 소프트웨어 수업을 위한 재료와 활동 그리고 학습 요소를 포함하는 변형된 BOM-tree를 구안하여 제안하였다. 셋째, 제안된 주제들에 대한 BOM-tree를 구성하여 수업에 적용하여 그 활용성을 확인하였다. 실과 교과는 실생활에서 다양한 하드웨어와 소프트웨어를 활용하는 내용을 포함하고 있다. 따라서 다양한 방법과 방향의 접근으로 메이커스 기반의 실과 교과의 소프트웨어 교육에 대한 연구가 지속되어야 할 것이다.The 2015 revised curriculum has made software education mandatory in elementary school subjects. Recently, Makers’ Activity has become a new topic of education. The purpose of this study was to review the closeness of Practical Arts subject and to propose an approach for software education based on maker activities in the subject. The results of the study are as follows. First, five themes of Makers’ Activities in connection with the lessons of Practical Arts subject were derived, and software learning elements could be reflected in each subject. Second, we proposed a Modified BOM-tree containing materials, activities, and learning elements for Maker-based software lessons. Third, the Modified BOM-tree for the proposed themes was constructed and applied to the class to confirm its utility. Practical Arts subject includes the use of various computer-related hardware and software in real life. Therefore, the study of Maker-based software education in Practical Arts should be continued in various ways and directions.

Characteristics of Verbs for Describing High Achievers in Elementary School Science: Based on Achievement and Evaluation Standards of 2015 Revised National Curriculum

이 연구에서는 2015 개정 교육과정에 따른 초등학교 5~6학년군의 10개 교과에 관한 성취기준과 평가기준의 서술어를 분석하고, 초등 과학 상위 성취자의 행위를 서술하는 동사의 특징을 살펴보았다. 성취기준 총 321 문장, 상-중-하 평가기준 총 963 문장을 분석한 결과, 성취기준과 평가기준의 ‘상’ 수준에서 ‘설명하다’가 가장 많이 사용되었다. 특히 수학과 과학 교과를 중심으로 상위 성취자의 행위를 ‘설명하다’로 제시하는 사례가 두드러졌다. 그리고 과학, 수학, 사회 교과 등에서 상위 성취자의 행위를 특정 동사로 나타내는 경향이 있었다. 이는 영어, 음악, 국어, 체육 등의 교과에서 성취수준에 상관없이 동일한 서술어를 사용하는 현상과 대비되었다. 또 과학 교과에서는 초등학교 5~6학년 교육과정의 성취기준이 상위 성취자의 행위를 기준으로 서술되는 경향이 있었는데, 이는 10개 교과 중 과학만이 가진 특징이었다.This study analyzed the verbs of achievement and evaluation standards for 10 subjects in elementary school 5-6 grade groups according to the 2015 revised national curriculum, and examined the characteristics of verbs describing the behaviors of high achievers in elementary school science. As a result of analyzing a total of 321 sentences of achievement standards and 963 sentences of high, middle, and low evaluation levels, to explain was most frequently used at the high level of achievement standards. In particular, the case of using to explain for high achievers in mathematics and science subjects was prominent. Moreover, in science, mathematics, and social studies, there was a tendency to express specific behaviors of high achievers with specific verbs. This contrasted with the phenomenon of using the same verbs regardless of achievement level in subjects such as English, music, Korean, and physical education. In addition, the achievement standards of science in elementary school grades 5-6 tended to describe the behavior of the high achievers, which was the characteristic of science in 10 subjects.

A construção de sentido em enunciados de atividades em livros didáticos

O artigo tem por tema a construção de sentido em enunciados de atividades de livros didáticos. O objetivo é mostrar as estratégias discursivas de que se vale o enunciador para manipular o enunciatário, visando levá-lo a aceitar o contrato proposto. A análise do corpus mostrou que as atividades não se restringem a verificar se o estudante aprendeu o conteúdo exposto, pois também dão voz aos enunciatários para que manifestem opiniões e vivências pessoais. O trabalho se justifica pelo fato de que, pelo menos na rede pública de ensino, o livro didático é o instrumento que norteia professores em sua atividade pedagógica e as atividades nele inseridas são um dos instrumentos pelos quais os docentes avaliam o aprendizado. O corpus é constituído por enunciados de atividades de livros didáticos de disciplinas do Ensino Fundamental e do Ensino Médio, publicados por editoras sediadas em São Paulo, destinados ao mercado privado e à rede pública. A fundamentação teórica são os estudos da enunciação e da Semiótica de linha francesa. Os resultados mostram que nos vários tipos de atividades há um efeito de sentido de proximidade, revertendo a assimetria aluno/professor característica dos livros didáticos mais antigos.

Influence of Cooperative Learning Model of Bamboo Dancing to Students Learning Outcomes in Social Sciences in Elementary School

<p class="Abstract">This research is entitled, The Influence of Cooperative Learning Models Type Bamboo Dancing Against Learning Outcomes of Students in Social Sciences Subjects in Primary Schools. This study aims to describe the implementation and influence of the cooperative model type bamboo dancing on improving student learning outcomes in social science subjects. The research problem formulation was formulated as "Is there any influence of cooperative learning model type bamboo dancing on student learning outcomes on social science subjects in elementary school?" The research method used was an experiment with the nature of quantitative research. The research design used is Quasi Experimental Design. The population of this study were students of the Public elementary School Mandalawangi district Cipatat West Bandung District. The research instrument uses observation sheets and test questions. The results of the test research data show that there is an increase in learning outcomes of students in social studies learning in elementary schools with the use of a cooperative type type bamboo dancing, can be seen from the results of the t-test on the sig (2-tailed) section showing differences in learning outcomes of students in post- the test obtained 0,000 this shows 0,000 <0,05, then H<sub>0</sub> is rejected means that there is a significant difference in the learning outcomes of students between the experimental class and the control class there are differences after treatment. This difference suggests that the experimental class is superior and better the results can be seen through the average social studies learning outcomes of students in the experimental class using bamboo dancing models. Based on the proof of the hypothesis that reads "there is a significant influence on cooperative learning models of bamboo dancing type on the learning outcomes of students on social science subjects in elementary schools", the H<sub>1</sub> hypothesis is accepted.</p>

Parents’ Expectation of Mathematics Education and Their Engagement in Education and Homework Habits of Children

Abstract Introduction: In this study, it was aimed to examine the expectations of elementary and secondary school parents from the mathematics education and their engagements in the education and the mathematics homework habits of their children. Methods: The research data was collected by “A Scale to Determine Parents’ Expectation from Mathematics Education”, “Mathematics Homework Behavior Scale” and the “Personal Information Form” prepared by the researcher. The data of this study executed and conducted by survey model was analyzed by SPSS 16. Results: In the study, it is revealed that the expectations of parents from Mathematics education and the mathematics homework habit of their children are high. There is no difference based on the levels of the children and parentage status of the parents, regardless of being mother or father, the mathematics homework habit of the children who favor mathematics lesson and at the same time thrive on is more favorable and positive than the ones who do not favor mathematics lesson and at the same time fail to thrive on, the homework habit of the children whom are supported sufficiently in the mathematics lesson is more favorable and positive. Last but not least, there is no correlation between the expectations of the parents from Mathematics education and the homework habits of their children. Discussion: High expectations of parents from mathematics classes may suggest that they trust their children and their teachers. It may also suggest that they are involved in the education process and that they find it sufficient. Based on the findings of this study, according to which the level of homework habits of the parents’ children is high, it can be assumed that the students do their homework willingly and they have no problems with doing their daily homework. Parents’ help their children’s with homework occasionally to make them feel that they are not alone in this process. Lower expectations from their children and lower engagement of parents at upper levels may be caused by the fact that they cannot support their children sufficiently due to the complexity of subjects. In elementary schools, since their children are smaller in terms of age, parents may think that their children need more help and they can be more active in education because the subjects in elementary school are not as complicated as in higher classes. The math homework habits do not differ according to the education level of students’ but, based on the scores, we can say that they are more favourable in the elementary school since the children are younger and besides, in Turkey, children are assigned homework more regularly and the homework habits start to emerge at the elementary school level. Just depending on the scores, it is interesting to note that the expectations of fathers from mathematics education and their engagement in the process are higher than those of mothers. This may suggest that the expectations of fathers from their children may be due to the higher goals they set for them and perhaps since they are more perfectionist, they are more involved in the children’s education than mothers. To like a lesson, can be considered a precondition for doing the assigned homework more willingly. Children do their homework more willingly in the courses at which they consider themselves successful. That is why the results of this study are not surprising. The homework habits of the children sufficiently supported in mathematics are expected to be more favourable. The expectations of parents from mathematics lesson were not related to their children’s homework habits. The absence of homework habits, in the parents’ expectation from mathematics lesson, may be due to not getting a clear answer from the parents with respect to the question whether homework should be assigned in education or not. Limitations: These research and data collection tools used are limited only by the thoughts of parents of primary and middle school students in Turkey. Conclusions: The child, being aware that he is not alone in the process, will be more confident if he knows that there is a family support behind him in overcoming mathematics.

The introduction of solar system using augmented reality technology

Current technological developments have had a huge impact on education, one of which is Augmented Reality technology. In this study, innovative and alternative media learning was made to understand the types of planets in the solar system. The solar system is one of the materials in natural science subjects in elementary schools. This media learning combines picture cards and virtual reality. Markers found on the card will be captured by the camera of the mobile device, processed and animated pieces will appear on the mobile screen in real-time. By using the concept of combining the real world, real images on the card and virtual, the application can stimulate imagination and a sense of desire and motivation to learn more and more. Planet estimates are made using the 3D Blender application, and the Augmented Reader process is created using Unity and Vuforia Software Development Kit. Based on the results of beta testing using the Likert scale, 86% of the 30 respondents stated that the application developed was effective as a medium for the introduction of the planet.

Local wisdom-based e-encyclopedia as a science learning medium in elementary school

The number of online encyclopedias is still limited and generally, they are not too interesting to be read by students since they tend to load information about unfamiliar animals for students. This paper seeks to describe the use of local wisdom based electronic encyclopedia as a learning media in the Science subject in Elementary school. This research was conducted on elementary school students in the city of Malang with 82 people using data collection instruments. Such as questionnaires and observation sheets. The research was carried out through several stages, namely the analysis stage, production stages, product design and evaluation stage. The finding show that local wisdom-based animal based e- encyclopedia are good in terms of content, presentation, language and the use of online encyclopedia triggers students to be more motivated and enthusiastic to learn during the learning process. The familiar contents and concepts given made a more meaningful learning process for students.

THE USE OF TEACHER’S CODE SWITCHING IN ENGLISH TEACHING

This research is to describe code switching that teacher used in teaching process. The researcher wants to analysis the type and the function of using code switching by teacher because English is not compulsory subject in elementary school and English is still unfamiliar for Indonesian students. The subject was English teacher who teaches in seventh grade at SMPN 1 Parungponteng, Tasikmalaya. Based on the research, the teacher practiced code switching in order to help the students in delivering materials. In the process of code switching, the teacher practiced Bahasa Indonesia, Sundanese and English. The aims of this research were to classify the types of code switching and functions of code switching. It was descriptive qualitative research designs of which instrument are both observation and interview. The findings from the data analysis indicated that the types of code switching were found in three types: inter-sentential switching, intra-sentential switching, tag switching. The functions of code switching used by the teacher were found three functions: message reiteration, message qualification and interjection. Furthermore, the type reason of using code switching by teacher based on interview was repetition used for clarification because the teacher wants students understand what teacher has explained. Understanding Students’ Learning Outcomes Differences Through the Application of the Market Place Activity Type of Cooperative Learning Model and the Application of Conventional Learning Models

This study aims to examine the learning outcomes differences through the application of the market place activity type of cooperative learning model and conventional learning models in Islamic Education subjects in Elementary Schools. The method used is quasi-experimental research (a method that has a control class but may not work fully to control the external variables that affect the experiment). The result of the first research indicates that there are differences in the students’ learning outcomes through the application of market place activity type of cooperative learning models and the application of conventional learning models in Islamic Education subjects. This can be seen from the value of sig. (2-tailed) of 0.00 <0.05. Second, there are differences in students’ learning outcomes through the application of market place activity type of cooperative learning models and the application of conventional learning models in Islamic Education subjects at SDN Binangga 1. This can be seen from the value of sig. (2-tailed) of 0.02 <0.05.The third study found differences in learning outcomes of students through the application of market place activity type of cooperative learning models and the application of conventional learning models in Islamic Education subjects at SDN 1 Binangga. This can be seen from the sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.00 <0.05.The implications of this research are expected to be valuable reference and information for educators to be more creative and innovative in implementing learning models so that the material provided will be more easily understood by students.

Motion Graphic Animation Videos to Improve the Learning Outcomes of Elementary School Students

<p style="text-align:justify">The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of the development of motion graphic animation video media in Natural Sciences subjects in Elementary Schools. This study uses a type of Research and Development research with quantitative tests. This study employed the experimental research method involving 27 students in the control group and 27 students in the experimental group. This research was conducted on 5th-grade students in elementary school in 2 different schools. Data collection uses interview methods for preliminary studies, observations and tests to test the effectiveness of animated video media motion graphics. The results of the study showed that there were significant differences between the results of the learning achievement of the experimental group and the control group. As well as motion graphic animation video media, its effectiveness has been tested in improving student achievement, especially the experimental group. Hence, the interactive motion graphic media is effective to be used to improve the students’ knowledge in the science subject of the fifth graders.</p>
