The learning process has an influence in achieving significant learning outcomes, including learning media, learning motivation and learning models, learning models are a learning plan that will take place which contains a learning design. The learning model refers to the learning method that will be used, including learning objectives, learning stages, learning environment, and classroom management. To improve learning outcomes, it is necessary to improve the model that influences learning outcomes, where the learning model greatly influences learning outcomes, this can improve learning outcomes significantly. In the learning that took place at the Antarctic 1 Sidoarjo school, there were students who were hyperactive and less conducive due to several things including students who did not like to be restrained and needed more attention to be able to implement conducive learning, in overcoming this problem, the researcher chose a guided inquiry learning model to improve learning outcomes, this is because this learning model is more fun with learning that is packaged in a question, which is able to improve students' understanding by asking questions to satisfy their curiosity, in implementing this model the researcher used the One Group Pretest Posttest research design, by giving the same treatment to a population with two meetings, starting with giving recognition to the Pretest and ending with the Posttest. Then the data is processed to see the effect of giving treatment in the population. Hypothesis testing using the paired t-test formula (T-Paired) produces a decision that is rejected H0, the calculation of the influence with the eta square test from the table of criteria results shows a large influence. It can be concluded that there is an influence on student learning outcomes in informatics subjects using the guided inquiry learning model.

Comparison of clinical outcomes, complications and patient satisfaction following deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty and penetrating keratoplasty.

Keratoplasty is a surgical procedure in which a damaged or diseased cornea is replaced with healthy donor tissue, thereby restoring vision. Recent advancements have led to the replacement of penetrating keratoplasty (PKP) with the more selective deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK) procedure, especially for treating keratoconus. Although DALK typically has a shorter recovery time, less pain and a lower risk of rejection, PKP is still being performed for more severe corneal diseases. A comparative study of clinical profiles, treatment outcomes and patient-reported satisfaction will provide valuable insights into the cost-effectiveness, impact on quality of life and ability of each procedure to treat different pathologies of the cornea. Here, we aimed to compare the clinical and subjective outcomes of DALK with those of the PKP at a single center in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This retrospective cohort study included eyes that underwent either PKP or DALK from January 2017 to January 2021. The demographic features, indications, best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and complications of the patients were recorded for both groups, analyzed and compared. A subgroup of eyes with keratoconus was analyzed separately and compared to the larger group. A 6-item survey was conducted via telephone to assess patient satisfaction and expectation, and the results were compared between the two procedures. The chi-square test or Fisher's exact test for categorical variables or the t test or Kruskal‒Wallis test for continuous variables were used as appropriate for all comparisons, and the level of significance was set at α = 0.05. A total of 97 patients were included. PKP and DALK were performed on 63 and 39 eyes, respectively. Patients who underwent DALK were younger (mean ± standard deviation 31 ± 10.82 years versus 43 ± 26.89 years for patients who underwent PKP). The most frequent indication for PKP was keratoconus (35.5%); however, in 97.4% of the eyes undergoing DALK, the indication was keratoconus. In both groups, visual acuity and refractive error improved, but the postoperative corrected distance visual acuity in the DALK group (0.3 log MAR) was noticeably greater than that in the PKP group (0.6 log MAR). Compared with PKP, DALK may carry a lower risk of early graft edema and rejection. Overall, the reported postoperative patient satisfaction was similar for both procedures. The findings highlight the effectiveness of PKP and DALK in improving visual acuity and emphasize the importance of considering patient-reported outcomes in evaluating success. DALK has been demonstrated to be beneficial for protecting the corneal endothelium and lowering the risk of complications and graft rejection.

Implementation of the Independent Learning Curriculum in the Subject of Pancasila and Civic Education

This study aims to determine the effect of applying the Independent Learning Curriculum in Pancasila and Civic Education subjects in the experimental class with the average learning outcomes of lessons in the control class using the 2013 curriculum. The method used in this research is the Experimental method with the research design used is that the experimental group is given treatment, namely using the independent learning curriculum (x) and the control group in its learning uses the 2013 curriculum (y). The sample in this study were all students of class VII A and class VII B of the Catholic Junior High School of the Sacred Heart of Manado totaling 38 students, consisting of two classes, namely the control class totaling 18 students and the experimental class totaling 20 students. The variables and indicators used are independent variables and dependent variables. In data collection techniques using observation and research instruments. Based on the results of the study, it shows that there is a significant influence on learning outcomes in Pancasila and Civic Education subjects in class VII students of the Catholic Junior High School of the Sacred Heart of Manado.

Effectiveness and Safety of Shorter Incontinence Slings.

Traditional slings, tension-free vaginal tape obturator inside-out (TVT-O) and tension-free vaginal tape (TVT), have well-documented continence outcomes but can cause serious complications. This study was aimed at evaluating whether slings with less synthetic material, Ajust™ and TVT-O Abbrevo™ (TVT-A), have comparable 6- to 12-month failure and complication rates, including risk of prolonged postoperative pain, compared with traditional slings. A registry study from the Norwegian Female Incontinence Registry (NFIR) including 611 Ajust™, 2,772 TVT-A, and 18,612 traditional slings was carried out. Preoperative, surgical, and 6- to 12-month follow-up data from the period 2009-2021 were used. Objective failure was defined as ≥ 1-g leakage on standardized cough-jump stress test. Subjective failure was defined as stress index-score ≥ 3 on a validated questionnaire. Prolonged postoperative pain was defined as lasting > 3months. At first follow-up after 6-12months, the groups differed significantly. Objective failure rates were as follows: Ajust™ 15.4%, TVT-A 13.5%, and traditional slings 7.3%, p < 0.01. Subjective failure rates were as follows: Ajust™ 23.4%, TVT-A 23.8%, and traditional slings 18.8%, p < 0.01. Shorter slings had fewer overall complications (Ajust™ 4.9% vs TVT-A 6.5% vs traditional slings 9.3%, p < 0.01), but did not have less prolonged postoperative pain (TVT-A: 1.4% vs Ajust™ 0.8% vs traditional slings 0.7%, p < 0.01 < 0.01). All presented outcomes remained significant after adjusting for differences at baseline. Shorter slings have inferior subjective and objective continence outcomes at 6-12months, but fewer overall complications except for prolonged postoperative pain.

Abstract 4122307: Longitudinal Changes in Parent-reported Quality of Life in Children with Single Ventricle

Introduction: Increased knowledge of quality of life (QOL) and the potential impact of the Fontan on QOL is essential to improving outcomes in patients with single ventricle. The primary aim of the Pediatric Heart Network Single Ventricle Reconstruction (SVR) trial II was to investigate outcomes in subjects with SV at age 6 yrs while SVR III characterized outcomes in this cohort at age 10-12 yrs. Aims: The purpose of this study was to evaluate changes in health-related QOL from SVR II to SVR III and to identify factors associated with changes in QOL over time. Methods: Parents completed proxy-reports for their child using the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL) generic and cardiac scales at SVR II and SVR III. Within-subject differences in PedsQL scores and proportions scoring in the ‘at-risk’ range for significantly impaired QOL between time points were examined using one-sample t-test and McNemar’s tests, respectively. Factors associated with changes in QOL were evaluated using standard univariate tests. Results: A total of 163 patients were included (63% male, 89% Caucasian, 16% Hispanic). PedsQL scores reported by parents decreased across all domains: total score -6.1 ± 17.1, p &lt;.0001; physical -4.0 ± 22.3, p=0.02; psychosocial -7.2 ± 17.4, p&lt;.0001; emotional -6.5 ± 20.7, p=.0001; social -6.6 ± 22.6, p= 0.0003; and school -8.6 ± 22.5, p&lt;.0001, functioning. No significant change in parent-reported heart problems/cardiac symptoms was detected across timepoints (-1.0 ± 20.4, p=0.52). Proportions with impaired QOL increased over time: total 28 to 39%, p=.01, physical 27 to 39%, p=.01, psychosocial 25 to 40%, p=.002, emotional 20 to 34%, p=.001, social 22 to 31%, p=.06, and school 21 to 38%, p=.0001. Only treatment for a psychological or behavioral disorder (n=26) was significantly associated with decline in psychosocial (mean -14.0 vs. -5.9; p=.03) and emotional (mean -17.1 vs. -4.5; p=.004) functioning scores. There was no significant association between socioeconomic status, Vineland adaptive scores at SVR II, or interval complications or procedures and changes in QOL. Conclusion: As perceived by their parents, health-related QOL in children with SV decreases over time unrelated to cardiac symptoms and complications. The greatest decline was in school functioning with 1 in 3 children having significantly impaired school QOL at SVR III. Greater attention to assessment of learning and psychosocial needs is essential to improve QOL in patients with SV.

Long-term Follow-up Study for Fractured and Non-Fractured Hand Enchondromas Treated by Sole Curettage

Background: Enchondromas are the most common primary tumors in the small tubular bones of the hand and fractures are often the result of thinned cortical bone. The main question was whether fractured enchondromas influence the long-term clinical and radiological outcome. Methods: Between 2000 and 2019, 57 patients with previously treated fractured (group I) and non-fractured (group II) hand enchondromas (34 female, 23 male, mean age was 39.4 years, ± 13.7) were evaluated for clinical and radiological treatment outcomes. SF-36 and DASH questionnaires as well as patient reported experience measures were used to assess subjective health outcomes. Subsequently, 43 patients underwent clinical and radiological follow-ups. Comparative evaluation of objective treatment outcomes in both groups was conducted in terms of hand functionality, perioperative complications, recurrence rates, and osteogenesis. Results: Almost half the patients suffered enchondromas with fractures (49.1%, n=28). Two patients received additional k-wire-stabilization due to intraoperative instability. Defect resolution could be reached in 97.7% (n=42) of all cases. No recurrence of enchondroma was observed. Groups were equal regarding radiological and clinical outcomes. The patient reported experiences were predominantly positive (86%), both cohorts had good to very good results with a DASH mean score of 4 (±6.3). The SF-36 demonstrated a return to normal quality of life in both groups. Mean follow-up time was 7.78 years (±4.8). Conclusions: Sole curettage of enchondromas yields effective outcomes with good to excellent results regardless of the presence of a fracture. Long-term radiological follow-up is not required until symptomatic recurrence. .

Surgery First and Aligners: A Case Report Combining In-House Surgical Guides and Pre-Adapted Titanium Plates

Continuous advancements in technology have made it possible to integrate clear aligner therapy (CAT) with orthognathic surgery. This case report presents a novel, individually-planned workflow, combining CAT with a surgery-first orthognathic approach (SFOA) in collaborating with engineers for an in-house production of surgical guides and customized titanium plates. The patient was evaluated subjectively, using the Oral Health-Related Quality of Life-14 (OHIP-14) questionnaire and Orthognathic Quality of Life questionnaire (OQLQ), and objectively with the Peer Assessment Rating (PAR) index. The patient displayed the planned occlusal relationship with no report of discomfort in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) or post-surgical complications. The surgical and occlusal outcomes have remained consistent and stable after debonding. A decreased score was reported in both questionnaires and the PAR after treatment, thereby indicating improvements in both subjective and objective evaluations. This case report demonstrates that with proper individual planning, satisfactory subjective and objective outcomes can be achieved when combining SFOA with CAT.

PATH-57. CLINICAL AND MOLECULAR FEATURES OF METHYLATION CLASS DIFFUSE LEPTOMENINGEAL GLIONEURONAL TUMOR

Abstract Genome-wide DNA methylation profiling can help identify rare CNS tumors, including diffuse leptomeningeal glioneuronal tumor (DLGNT). Due to the infrequency of this entity, DLGNT remains poorly understood. To help resolve uncertainty regarding DLGNT, we examined epidemiologic, histologic, and molecular features of 32 (21 newly profiled, 11 publicly available) tumors matching to DLGNT by the DKFZ classifier (v12, score &amp;gt;=0.85). Of these tumors, 25 matched to DLGNT subtype 1 and seven to subtype 2. Subject median age was 12 years in subtype 1 and 22 years in subtype 2 (14.5 overall, range 2-44), with equal numbers of females and males (n=16 each). Spinal cord was the most frequently involved site (n=21), but intracranial lesions were observed (n=6). Leptomeningeal involvement was noted in only four of 11 tumors with available imaging descriptions. In the subset of cases available for histologic review (n=19), oligodendrocyte-like morphology was present in over half (n=11). Microvascular proliferation was uncommon (n=5). Chromosome 1p loss was observed in 29 (91%), and 1p/19q co-deletion was observed in 18 tumors (56%). Gains of 1q and 7q were each observed in 12 (38%), and whole chromosome 7 gain was observed in eight (25%). Loss of 22q was seen in 12 (38%). In the subset of tumors with fusion testing (n=15), KIAA1549::BRAF fusion was present in 12 (80%), and one showed a QKI::RAF1 fusion. Five tumors harbored BRAF mutations, and one harbored a break-point in BRAF without a known fusion partner. In nine subjects with clinical follow-up, there was one death after 3.1 years, and the remaining subjects were alive with a median follow-up of 6.4 years (maximum 19 years). Progression-free survival (PFS) was available for six subjects with a median PFS of 6 years. Presentation of DLGNT without noted leptomeningeal involvement appears common. Further characterization of subject outcomes will help clarify the clinical behavior of DLGNT.

Comparison of Swallowing Measures to Patient-Reported Dysphagia Symptoms in Head and Neck Cancer Patients.

Head and neck cancer affects patient swallowing function. We set out to examine how objective measures of swallowing compare against subjective patient-reported outcomes in a cohort of head and neck cancer patients. Retrospective analysis of data collected from a large dysphagia HNC registry. Tertiary Academic Cancer Center. Between 2006 and 2019, objective measures of swallowing as scored on Modified Barium Swallow Study or Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing and subjective measures using the SWAL-QOL were collected. Objective measures were scored by the Penetration-Aspiration Score (PAS); subjective measures were assessed by the Dysphagia Domain Score (DDS), collectively forming paired data points. Data on tumor site, T-stage, and treatment modality was collected and evaluated. A total of 253 paired data points were included in this study. A statistically significant relationship between PAS and DDS was observed across all patients (P < .05, chi sq). When stratified by tumor subsite, PAS and DDS relationships were strongest for oral cavity. When stratified by AJCC T-stage, T4 tumors had the strongest relationship between PAS and DDS. The relationship of PAS and DDS was less congruent the further removed from treatment completion. Objective and subjective measures of swallowing provide complementary evaluations of swallow function. The congruency of assessment varies by T stage and tumor subsite. Physicians and allied health professionals can use this information to better understand the value and limitation of objective and subjective swallowing assessments in evaluating head and neck cancer patients.

Client’s pre-operative expectations and outcome of cataract surgery at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria

Objectives: A cataract is an opacity of the natural crystalline lens that causes vision loss. It is the most common cause of blindness worldwide, accounting for 39% of the 42 million blind people in the world. The optimum outcome from a cataract surgery can be achieved if post-operative subjective outcomes meet pre-operative expectations. It is expressed in different ways including patient satisfaction. This study evaluated clients’ pre-operative expectations and the outcome of cataract surgery at Jos University Teaching Hospital. Materials and Methods: A quasi-experimental, prospective hospital-based study that consecutively recruited 109 participants aged 18 years and above for 6 months. Data regarding the sociodemographic characteristics, pre-operative visual function, and expected post-operative outcome were collected preoperatively, and the subjective outcome and level of patient satisfaction were also assessed 6 weeks after surgery using a visual function index questionnaire. Data were analysed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences’ version 23. Frequencies and percentages were determined for categorical variables; mean and standard deviation, median, and interquartile range were calculated for continuous variables. Correlation was used to measure the relationship between overall satisfaction and expected or achieved visual function. A significant level was determined at P &lt; 0.05. Results: A total of 109 participants were seen in this study, of which 60 (55%) were males. The mean age of participants in the study was 64.5 ± 11.1 years. The median (interquartile range) expected and actual post-operative outcome scores were 100 (80–100) and 98 (75–100), respectively. The majority of the participants, 86 (78.9%), were satisfied with the outcome of cataract surgery, and the predictors of satisfaction were insertion of posterior chamber intraocular lens, absence of complications, and absence of ocular comorbidities. We found a significant strong positive correlation between subjective outcome and satisfaction (r = 0.538, P ≤ 0.0001). Conclusion: The majority of the clients were satisfied with the outcome of their surgeries which meets the high expected outcomes from the clients pre-operative. Adequate counselling, training, and retraining of surgeons are key to improving and maintaining satisfaction with the outcome of cataract surgery.

Nonsurgical Interventions for Gender-Affirming Facial Feminization: A Scoping Review.

Importance: Systematic review will improve understanding of nonsurgical facial feminization techniques, which are useful alternatives or adjuncts to surgical gender affirmation. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of nonsurgical facial feminization techniques in patients seeking gender-affirming feminization by reviewing the literature for patient-reported, subjective, and objective outcomes of feminization. Evidence Review: A comprehensive database search was conducted through July 28, 2022. A total of 264 titles and abstracts were screened by two independent reviewers in Covidence. Of all, 48 met the inclusion criteria for full-text review, and 20 articles were included in the final data extraction. Findings: The most described nonsurgical facial feminization techniques were neurotoxins, fillers, and hair removal. Techniques were derived from cisgender cosmetic procedures to achieve feminine qualities. The most common study type was expert opinion or literature reviews. There were only two studies that analyzed measurable nonsurgical facial feminization techniques. Conclusions and Relevance: There is a lack of high-quality prospective research and randomized, controlled trials specific to the transgender patient population that evaluate outcomes, patient satisfaction, or complications. Such studies are needed to inform evidence-based practices.

Effect of weighted blankets on sleep quality among adults with insomnia: a pilot randomized controlled trial.

Weighted blanket is an emerging non-pharmacotherapy for sleep disorders, but its effect on sleep among relatively healthy adults with insomnia remains uncertain. This study aimed to evaluate whether weighted blankets could better improve sleep quality and sleep-related symptoms among adults with insomnia. In a prospective, pilot randomized controlled trial conducted in three tertiary hospitals in China, participants with clinical insomnia were randomized (1:1) to receive weighted blanket intervention or normal blanket intervention for 1 month by random-number tables. The primary outcomes were sleep quality assessed with Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and insomnia severity assessed with Insomnia Severity Index. Subjective outcomes were measured at baseline, 1 week, and 1-month post-intervention. Sleep was also objectively monitored by actigraphy. We did analysis by intention to treat. A total of 102 participants were randomly assigned to receive weighted blanket intervention (n = 52) or normal blanket intervention (n = 50). 95 (93.1%) participants completed the follow-up, and 7 (6.9%) participants dropped out of the study. The weighted blanket group had significant improvements in sleep quality compared to the normal blanket group after 1 month of intervention (changes in the mean [SD] of PSQI score: -4.1 [4.1] vs. -2.0 [3.2], P = 0.006). Similar results were observed for daytime sleepiness, stress, anxiety, fatigue, and bodily pain (all P < 0.05). Recordings from actigraphy showed a decrease in the mean (SD) of the number of awakenings in weighted blanket group (-1.4 [9.5]) and an increase in normal blanket group (+ 1.0 [7.9]) (P = 0.280). No severe adverse events occurred. Weighted blanket might be an effective, safe and promising non-pharmacotherapy tool for improving sleep-related symptoms among adults with insomnia, although validation with a larger sample size is needed. Long-Term Outcomes of Tension-Free Vaginal Tape Procedures in Argentine Women: Our First Report After 20 Years.

Transvaginal tape is currently a stress urinary incontinence (SUI) treatment with recommendation grade A in accordance with the 7th International Consultation on Incontinence. The main aim of the present study was to evaluate objective and subjective outcomes of tension-free vaginal tape (TVT) 20 years after our medical group started to use it. A second aim was to describe the voiding phase and the immediate, medium-term, and late complications of TVT procedures. This is a retrospective cohort study that included patients diagnosed with SUI who received TVT treatment in a tertiary care hospital in Argentina from 1999 to 2003. Objective outcomes were recorded in a medical visit by means of urogynecological examination, which included a cough stress test with a comfortably full bladder and uroflowmetry. Subjective outcomes were assessed using quality-of-life questionnaires and questions addressed to the patient, regarding whether the patient felt cured and would recommend surgery. A total of 74 patients with an average follow-up of 18years were evaluated. Most of the patients evaluated (96.8%) were objectively continent in the long term, 95.3% reported feeling cured, and 97.6% would recommend surgery. The complications were similar to those reported in the literature. No cases of voiding disorder were found in the long-term follow-up. Tension-free vaginal tape is a minimally invasive, safe, and effective surgical technique, with a high objective and subjective cure rate, a low rate of complications related to the mesh or aging, and good results in long-term follow-up.

Factors Affecting Outcomes and Complications of Primary Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction: A Retrospective Study of 110 Patients.

Anterior cruciate ligament injury poses a major effect on the quality of life of patients. Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) remains the mainstay of treatment. To (1) test for the correlation of patients' characteristics such as body mass index (BMI), age, smoking status, and postoperative infrapatellar numbness with the subjective outcome of primary ACLR and (2) investigate whether postsurgical complications can be related to the studied patients' characteristics. Case series; Level of evidence, 4. Demographic data and operational notes from patients who underwent primary ACLR at the institute between 2011 and 2022 were extracted. Patients' surgical outcomes were evaluated subjectively using the International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) score and the Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS). Pre- and postoperative scoring were completed at postoperative follow-up in December of 2022, patients completed both the IKDC and the KOOS questionnaires. Patients were asked to rate their knee function out of 10 before and after surgery. This rating was based on the patients' self-assessment of their functional ability without the use of a formal instrument. Knee function was assigned as better, worse, or the same through a comparison of patients' reported scores before and after surgery. Male patients comprised 108 (98.2%) of the total cohort, the mean ± SD age at the time of surgery was 27.92 ± 7.39 years, and BMI was 26.54 ± 3.89. The mean follow-up time was 48.92 ± 27.99 months. Most patients did not need postsurgical intervention (n = 97; 88.2%), while 4 (3.6%), 7 (6.4%), and 2 (1.8%) needed revision, debridement, or both, respectively. The mean IKDC score and KOOS, respectively, were 74.37 ± 20.17 and 85.50 ± 14.83. Patients' BMI had a significant effect on IKDC score (74.68 ± 20.0; P < .001), and infrapatellar numbness after surgery also affected patients' IKDC score (P = .002) and KOOS (P = .043). The age at the time of ACLR was associated with contralateral leg surgery (P = .017). This study showed that higher BMI and infrapatellar numbness negatively affect the subjective outcomes after primary ACLR. Older age at the time of primary ACLR was associated with a higher likelihood of surgery in the contralateral leg.

Randomized Controlled Study Comparing Hamstring Graft and Peroneus Longus Tendon Graft in Arthroscopic ACL Reconstruction.

Graft choice for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) has been evolving. The peroneus longus tendon (PLT) has been seen as a suitable choice for ACLR, providing comparable results to those of hamstring tendon (HT) autograft, but its clinical relevance in terms of return to sports, to our knowledge, has not been studied. One hundred and twenty patients who sustained an isolated ACL injury were enrolled and underwent ACLR using tripled or quadrupled PLT autograft (if graft thickness exceeded 10 mm then tripled) or quadrupled HT autograft. Patients were followed for 24 months. Functional scores (International Knee Documentation Committee [IKDC] and Tegner-Lysholm scores) were assessed preoperatively and at 3, 6, 12, and 24-month post-operatively. Graft diameter and graft harvesting time were measured intraoperatively. Donor-site morbidity was evaluated using subjective evaluation. Time to return to sports in both groups was compared. The mean diameter of the PLT autograft was significantly larger than that of the HT autograft, and the mean graft harvesting time was less (P < 0.001). Patients in the PLT group returned to sports a mean of 36 days earlier than those in the HT group (P < 0.001) and had a lower rate of donor-site morbidity, and better patient-reported outcomes at the knee (P < 0.001). There was a significant difference between the groups in IKDC and Tegner-Lysholm scores at the 24-month follow-up. Despite some donor site complications, such as numbness and infection, both PLT and HT grafts offer acceptable knee stability. However, PLT grafts seem to provide superior subjective functional outcomes based on patient-reported scores. More research is needed to further establish these findings and optimize graft choices for individual patients.

Website-Based Learning Media Using Google Sites to Improve Student Learning Outcomes in Natural and Social Sciences Subjects on Biodiversity Material

Inappropriate use of learning media in learning process activities can cause uninteresting learning. This study aims to develop website-based learning media using Google Sites in the Natural and social sciences subject biodiversity material in grade V elementary school. The research method used is Research and Development with the ADDIE development model. The subjects in this study were media experts, material, teachers, and 21 fifth-grade elementary school students. Data collection is used in the form of test techniques and non-test techniques. The test techniques used are pretest and posttest, while non-test techniques include observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. In the data analysis process, the normality test, t-test, and N-Gain test methods were used, which were carried out with SPSS 23 software. The results of the study presented a validation test by media experts getting a score of 91%, while the validation test by material experts got a score of 92%, with a very feasible category. The t-test results on the small group trial presented a sig. (2-tailed) of 0.008. while in the large group trial, the t-test presents a sig value (2-tailed) of 0.000. The results of the N-Gain Test in the small group and large group trials showed an increase in value of 0.60 and 0.55 which was in the medium category. This shows an average increase between pretest and posttest scores. From these results, it is concluded that website-based learning media using Google Sites is very feasible and effective in improving student learning outcomes related to the biodiversity material in grade V elementary school.

Effects of Neoadjuvant Denosumab on Radiological and Histological Responses in Patients Undergoing En Bloc Resection for Giant Cell Tumor of Bone: A Systematic Review

Background: Giant cell tumor of bone (GCTB) is a rare primary bone tumor. The standard treatment is en bloc resection, which can be challenging due to tumor size or location. Denosumab, a monoclonal antibody, has emerged as a promising neoadjuvant therapy for GCTB, potentially facilitating surgical resection. However, its optimal use remains unclear, with debate surrounding its impact on local recurrence. This systematic review aims to synthesize evidence on the histological and radiological changes induced by neoadjuvant denosumab and its impact on surgical outcomes. Methods: This review followed PRISMA guidelines. The medical term "denosumab", "neoadjuvant", "GCTB", "radiological", and "histological" were used in PubMed (423 articles) and Google Scholar (18,100 articles), totaling 18,523 articles to discover studies of the effect of neoadjuvant denosumab on radiological and histological response up to July 2023. Six remaining studies were reviewed and screened for inclusion criteria based on their relevance to the study subject and clinical outcomes. Results: Based on six studies in this review, five showed histological response by decreasing the multinucleated giant cells and osteoclasts after neoadjuvant DT. Six studies showed increased significant bone reconstitution as a radiological response in the GCTB locale, replaced the extending tumor into soft tissue by abundant bone production with peripheral shell, and increased ease of en bloc resection. Conclusions: Neoadjuvant denosumab therapy shows promise in managing giant cell tumors of bone (GCTB) by reducing osteoclasts, shrinking tumor volume, and promoting cortical bone formation, thus facilitating en bloc resection. However, further research is needed to confirm these findings.

Upaya Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Matematika Materi Bangun Datar dengan Pendekatan Matmatika Realistik di Kelas V SDN 101766 Bandar Setia

The purpose of this research is to see the results of learning mathematics on flat shapes material after using a realistic mathematics approach in class V of SD Negeri 101766 Bandar Setia. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The CAR model used consists of 4 stages, namely planning, action, review (observation), and reflection. The subjects in this study were 22 students of class V-B of SD Negeri 101766 Bandar Setia, consisting of 10 male students and 12 female students. The data collection technique used in this study was observation and test analysis. The results of the study from the implementation of two cycles showed that the percentage of student learning activities increased by 60% in cycle I to 88.5% in cycle II. The percentage of student learning outcomes also increased from 59% (good) in cycle I to 86% (very good) in cycle II. Based on the results of the data analysis obtained, it can be concluded that the realistic mathematics approach can improve student learning outcomes in the mathematics subject of flat shapes material in class V of SD Negeri 101766 Bandar Setia
