Research Work for Students: Its Peculiarities at Ukrainian Higher Education Institutions in the Conditions of Martial Law

The paper presents analysis of two ways for organizing the research work for students at the Department of Foreign Languages in Lviv National Environmental University: a) the use of modern technologies, robotization of production processes abroad and in Ukraine; b) educational material researched by students from massive open online courses platforms, other electronic resources for students as additional educational materials to the main ones proposed by teachers for the taught disciplines. There are also considered some electronic educational materials implemented for students and discussed by professors of different Ukrainian higher educational institutions at teachers’ conferences as well as the ways of spreading the results of students research work and exchanging their experience in usage of the reviewed materials are proposed. Under martial law, the research work for students of higher education institutions of Ukraine should be brought to a new level, especially in the military sphere and for helping our people to quickly restore all spheres of the national economy destroyed during the Russian-Ukrainian war. The results of the students research can be used by the teaching staff for planning and improving the educational process at our and other universities.

An Investigation of Psychological Services of Mental Health of Student’s in Uzbekistan: A Critical Evaluation

Mental health has become an important issue among students throughout the world especially after Covid-19. The present study is an attempt to investigate psychological services among students in higher educational institutions in Uzbekistan. The study also aimed to identify and assess psychological services of mental health in students in Uzbekistan. The study analysed the current state of the activities of psychological services aimed at ensuring the psychological health of students of higher educational institutions, as well as the introduction of the activities of psychological services in the system of higher education. The study also explored and assessed issues and problems of existing psychological services for mental health among students in higher education. To eliminate these problems, a model and description of improving the activities of psychological services in higher educational institutions are given, and conclusions and suggestions are presented.

Sustainable Development of Human Potential as Strategic Priority of Providing National Security

The article acts as an answer to the request of students of higher education institutions in specialization ‘Economic security’, who face the necessity to estimate the impact of sustainable development of human potential on providing national security of the country. In this context the article studies theoretical aspects of human potential in the system of national security of Russia in the present geopolitical and finance and economic situation in the world. The authors work out the system of key indicators having indentified those, which characterize the level of education and science development as well as public health service and put forward methods to estimate the level of human potential development and its impact on national economic security of the country. Having analyzed threats in the field of education, science and public health service the authors propose ways of their minimization. Special attention is paid to elaboration of forecasts concerning selected indicators, which can help assess the development of human potential in the medium-term perspective and arrange necessary steps aimed at cutting threats and improving economic security in this field.

The influence of volleyball training classes on the psychological health of students of higher education institutions in the conditions of martial law in the country

This scientific article examines the impact of volleyball training sessions on the psychological state of students in collective teams of higher educational institutions during the martial law in Ukraine. The study focuses on the study of aspects of psychological well- being and stress resistance of the participants. The research methodology includes the analysis of psychological indicators of students before and after participation in volleyball training sessions in the collective teams of higher education institutions. The obtained monitoring results allow us to understand how sports activity affects the psychological health of student youth in the stressful conditions of military service, in particular. The results of the study also indicate possible practical applications in the field of psychological support of students during the military conflict through the implementation of volleyball training programs. This can become the basis for the development of physical education programs aimed at increasing psychological stability and balancing the psychological well- being of the student community during the period of crises in the country. In addition, the article analyzes the relationship between participation in volleyball training sessions and the level of social interaction among the student community under martial law. Evidence of the beneficial effect of such classes on the psychological state of students can serve as an increase in their level of self-esteem and general well-being, contributes to the formation of a positive psychological climate in the university environment during difficult historical periods. The study offers new opportunities for studying the impact of sports activities on the mental health and social adaptation of students in countries with a difficult political situation.

SPORTS GAMES AT THE UNIVERSITY. IMPACT ON STUDENTS' HEALTH

The relevance of physical education in general education organizations is one of the foundations of the structure of students’ physical training and reflects the level of physical and psychosomatic health, functional capabilities, which in recent years have caused serious concern among medical workers, teachers, educational psychologists, and the public. The most significant increase in all types of diseases occurs during the period coinciding with university studies. Some reasons are explained by physical inactivity and constant use of computers, gadgets, and phones. An important reason is the low motivation of students for physical development. In this regard, physical culture and sports are one of the main means of strengthening and maintaining health, increasing activity and physical improvement. Physical culture and sports are the most important factors in the development of human potential. The article reveals the impact of sports games on increasing motor activity among students of higher education institutions. The current state of motor activity among student youth is analyzed. It was found that basketball and football are one of the most popular sports among students. Practical recommendations have been developed for improving motor activity with the help of sports games. The relationship between motor activity and psychophysical condition, the lower the level of motor activity, the lower the level of health, and the worse the psycho-emotional state. It has been established that one of the effective ways to increase students' motor activity is to involve them in sports games.

The Development of Creative Potential as a Condition for the Formation of the Competitiveness of the Future Specialist

Relevance. New requirements for the training of students in higher educational institutions are that acquiring only specialized professional knowledge is no longer sufficient for a future competitive specialist. It is necessary to develop such individual abilities that significantly reveal his individuality and creative potential.Goal of the work. To determine pedagogical conditions that contribute to the development of the creative potential of future specialists as a factor in the formation of their competitiveness.Objectives of the research: Based on the analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature, to find out the essence and content of the basic concepts of the study “personal competitiveness,” creative potential”; to justify the pedagogical conditions for the development of the creative potential of future specialists in the sociocultural space of higher education.Methodology. During the scientific search, the following research methods were used: systemic, analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, generalization, comparison.Results. Based on the analysis of scientific sources, the concept of individual competitiveness is defined as a necessary set of professional and personal qualities that contribute to the possession of competitive advantages in current sociocultural conditions. The pedagogical conditions for the development of creative potential are determined as conditions for the formation of the competitiveness of a future specialist.Conclusions. Preparation for identifying and developing creative potential is possible provided that a creative learning environment is created that stimulates students' creative activity and students' motivation for creative activity.

The effectiveness of using mobile applications for studying in non-language specialties at higher education institutions

Using mobile apps for learning professionally oriented English is highly topical and widely recognized as an effective and convenient method for language acquisition. Mobile apps provide a range of benefits that contribute to their popularity among undergraduates. The key reasons why using mobile apps for learning English is considered topical: accessibility, convenience, interactive and engaging content, personalized learning, variety of learning materials, social and community features, progress tracking. So, the aim of the paper is to study the effectiveness of mobile applications for learning professional English during the study at higher education institutions in Ukraine. Instruments of data collection used were analysis of scientific sources, questionnaires, interviews, and focused group discussion. The results of questionnaires and interviews prove the need to use mobile apps for developing the level of English by students of higher education institutions. Searching the problem provide the opportunities to determine the most used mobile apps for studying English and describe their advantages in the process of learning English in non-linguistic specialties. The process of learning English at higher education establishments aimed at using mobile apps proved the effectiveness of such process because of increasing English level of Ukrainian higher education students.

Психологическая сепарация от родителей в юношеском возрасте в контексте ценностных и смысловых ориентаций

<p style="text-align: justify;">Relevance. The problem of psychological separation in adolescence comes up against many contradictions, such as high demands of society to the young generation and difficulties on the way to comply with them (prolongation of the adolescent period, dependence on parents, personal immaturity, infantilism, instability of axiological orientations, etc.). Aim. The goal is to study the relationship between the level of separation anxiety, components of psychological separation from parents and axiological and life–purpose orientations in adolescence. Materials and methods. Adult Separation Anxiety Questionnaire ASA–27, adapted by A.A. Dityuk Hoffman’s questionnaire of psychological separation, D.A. Leontyev’s test of life–purpose orientations, E.B. Fantalova’s «Level of Value and Availability Ratio in Different Life Spheres». Sampling: 98 students of higher and secondary specialized educational institutions at the age of 17–21 years (52% boys and 48% girls). Results and conclusions. Components of psychological separation from parents in adolescence is uneven; psychological separation from parents has been partially completed. Separation from the mother is more pronounced than from the father. Separation anxiety is expressed to a moderate degree. The conflicting style of separation prevails. Attitudinal separation from parents has been achieved to a greater extent affective and behavioral separations are insufficiently formed; in boys and girls, pronounced separation anxiety is associated with unformed life–purpose orientations and motivational and personal integration in the «value–availability» plane in the areas of «happy family life», «materially secure life», «freedom»; incomplete separation from the mother and the presence of meaning in life for her children are interconnected; incomplete separation from the father is associated with the present life–meaning crisis in his children.</p>

Pedagogical aspects of improving communication skills of university students

Objective: pedagogical conditions that contribute to the development of communicative self-sufficiency of students of higher educational institutions. Method: The theoretical and methodological basis of the study consists of the following components: the basics of the general theory of management and management, the analysis of management in the field of education, as well as the main principles of marketing as a methodology for the activity of any enterprise in the conditions of a market economy, the theory and practice of marketing, marketing concepts in the field of education , as well as work in the field of marketing of additional education and management of educational systems. Areas of pedagogical innovation are also taken into account. Results: The article clarifies the essence and content of the concept of "communicative self-efficacy of university students". The pedagogical content of the process of formation of communicative self-efficacy of university students has been clarified. The evaluation diagnostic toolkit was theoretically substantiated, developed and tested, taking into account the criteria, indicators and levels of formation of the communicative self-efficacy of university students. Contribution: Pedagogical conditions for the formation of communicative self-efficacy of university students were developed and implemented, and their effectiveness was experimentally verified. It is substantiated that the communicative self-efficacy of university students is a personal meta-quality that reflects the conscious mastery of productive strategies and tactics of communication, confidence in one's own possibilities of their implementation and achievement of constructive results, which ensures effective and flexible communicative behavior in various spheres of activity.

Principles for Training Students in Circular Economy Skills: Pedagogical and Ecological Areas

The purpose of the study is to substantiate the principles of the formation of students' competencies in the circular economy in the pedagogical and ecological aspect, taking into account the achievement of the sustainable development goals. The methodological basis of the research is the systematic approach, which in pedagogy is aimed at revealing the value of pedagogical objects, identifying their various forms, components, types and relationships between them, which makes it possible to present the acquisition of competences among students for activities in the conditions of the circular economy as a whole presentation of actions using various forms, methods, means of teaching students in heigher education institutions. In the article, the epistemology of social challenges in the direction of achieving the sustainable development goals due to the implementation of the principles of the circular economy and the need in this context for the formation of relevant competencies of students of higher education institutions is substantiated. The characteristics that should correspond to the competence of the circular economy according to the characteristics of the integrated quality of the individual have been determined. The components that form the competences of the circular economy have been identified, which include: axiological, cognitive, practical-technological, and institutional.

Experience of Foreign Countries in the Development of Kinetic Intelligence of Students

The article reflects on the results of research on the experience of foreign countries on the development of kinetic intelligence among students. Methods and approaches used in different countries to encourage physical activity, sports and creativity among students of higher educational institutions are analyzed. Also, the practice of applying the best practices used in foreign educational institutions in the educational system of our country was studied.

Features of the value orientations of modern student youth (on the example of a sociological study in Barnaul)

Value orientations are an important aspect in every person's life, defining one's views, beliefs and goals. And since students occupy a special place in shaping the future of society, studying and understanding their value orientations will help scientists develop social programs and strategies to improve the quality of life. Also, the study of value orientations will help in understanding and forecasting sociocultural trends. The following aspects are considered in this article: the essence of value orientations; various approaches to their study; foreign and domestic scientists engaged in research in this field; trends affecting the specifics of value orientations, as well as the importance of value orientations in modern society. The sample consisted of students of various higher educational institutions of the city of Barnaul (n=390 people). The study involved students from Altai State University, Altai State Pedagogical Institute, Altai State Medical University, Altai State Agrarian University and Altai State Polytechnic University. The selection method was a quota sample with elements of spontaneous selection of respondents. During periods of significant social change, when new values replace old ones, the study of personal value orientations becomes especially important. Throughout life, a person finds himself in various social environments, such as family, educational institutions, peer groups and employees. Each of which conveys its own values that influence the formation of individual values of a person. Value orientations are a social reaction to the course of public life, which indicates their variability and dynamism. Value orientations are an interesting social phenomenon to study, especially within the framework of an ever-changing socio-economic policy. Modern youth in their behavior and priorities are very different from the children of the last century. Our task is to study this thesis from a scientific point of view to find scientific evidence for this.

RESEARCH OF STUDENTS' ORIENTATIONS REGARDING INTERNATIONAL MIGRATION

The purpose of the article is to identify and compare the essential characteristics of migration attitudes among Ukrainian and Polish students, and to outline trends in their development in the future. Methodology. The subjects of the research are students of various courses and specialties of the Lviv National Environmental University and the University of Life Sciences in Lublin (Poland). To collect empirical information, an online survey was conducted in October 2023, with 187 Ukrainian and 187 Polish students (n=374) participating. The questionnaire consisted of 10 questions, the results of which will be analysed in this study. The survey results showed that students of both higher education institutions have a rather positive attitude towards international migration processes, both women and men. Possible manifestations of student mobility can be seen as a fact that characterises the social role of modern students. Practical implications. The work is a study of young people's attitudes to migration, i.e., it is prospective, not retrospective. Such research can be extremely useful for the development of an effective socio-economic policy of the country. Since the research results reflect the moods of young people, they cannot claim to be highly predictive. However, a vision of what might happen if people's hypothetical aspirations were to become reality can be a powerful argument for politicians and statesmen in developing migration-related policies, both now and in the future. Value/Originality. Survey data from different age groups of students at two universities allow for a better understanding of their attitudes towards migration, immigration, and mobility and a comparison of these indicators in a peaceful country and in times of war. Possible manifestations of student mobility should be seen as a fact that characterises the social role of modern students. The problem, however, is that there are currently no effective mechanisms for managing these processes. There are also no mechanisms capable of ensuring the systemic effectiveness of communication links between different actors at the intercultural level, with the possibility of meeting their socio-cultural, professional and material needs in the process of socialisation of modern youth, as well as for the adequate reproduction of the intellectual potential of society as a whole. However, student emigration cannot be viewed exclusively from a negative perspective, as a "brain drain", although it is obvious that if students who study and work abroad do not return, the country loses part of its intellectual potential (Adamic, Dyachuk, 2023; Tokar, 2022). If to consider the return and emigration not as a purely territorial movement of students, but as a movement of intellectual resources, one can identify a positive trend: significant intellectual potential in the form of ideas, technologies and professional knowledge is returning to the country.

Neck pain among russian students

Objective. This study aims to analyze the prevalence and developmental factors of neck pain among students of Russian higher education institutions, with an emphasis on the impact of this pain on quality of life, academic activities, and overall well-being of students.Materials and Methods. The study is based on data obtained from 780 students through a survey conducted on the Google Forms platform. Descriptive statistics and correlational analysis methods were applied, utilizing SPSS software for data processing.Results. A high prevalence of neck pain among students (75.4 %) was identified. The analysis revealed a connection between neck pain and various aspects of life, including physical activity, stress, the use of mobile devices, and levels of physical activity. A correlation between neck pain and the psychosocial health of students was also established, particularly with anxiety and depression.Conclusions. The study underscores the necessity of a comprehensive approach in the prevention and treatment of neck pain among students. The development of programs aimed at improving the physical and psychological health of students is recommended, including exercises for neck and back, lifestyle modification, and psychological support.

TOOLS FOR DEVELOPING STUDENTS` CRITICAL THINKING IN ART LESSONS IN GENERAL SECONDARY EDUCATION

The relevance of the development of critical thinking among modern students has been determined. The definition of “critical thinking” by well-known researchers is considered, the purpose and tasks, development tools, and conditions for creating an environment for the development of critical thinking are defined. The practical methods of developing critical thinking, which are used in the lessons of musical literacy and practical music making, are substantiated. The question of the formation of critical thinking of students of general secondary education institutions by interactive methods (game, intellectual, artistic association, theatricalization, practical-artistic, socially significant activity, information, activation of independent work, reflection) and with the participation of information technology was studied.

Indicators of health groups of pupils of general education organizations of the Russian Ministry of Defense (2010–2022)

BACKGROUND: Currently, there are 33 educational organizations of the Russian Ministry of Defense in Russia with a total staff of about 18 thousand students studying around the clock
 AIM: to assess the dynamics of the health status of students in educational institutions of the Russian Ministry of Defense for 12 years from 2010/2011 to 2021/2022 academic year.
 MATERIALS AND METHODS: We studied reports on Form 13К/МЕД, prepared by employees of educational organizations of the Russian Ministry of Defense, and calculated the dynamics of the level of assessments of the health status of students. The article presents arithmetic averages and their errors; the development of health groups was assessed using time series analysis, for which a second-order polynomial series was used.
 RESULTS: In general educational institutions, there were 25.3 ± 0.9% of pupils with health group I, 60.7 ± 0.6% with group II, and 14.0 ± 1.2% with group III. In recent years, there has been a tendency to increase the number of pupils with health groups I and II and decrease with group III. These results indicated a properly organized educational process and optimization of medical support for students. The most positive dynamics of health status were observed in pupils aged 10–12 years, less pronounced — in pupils aged 16–18 years.
 CONCLUSIONS: In some educational organizations of the Russian Ministry of Defense during the period studied, there were not entirely favorable trends in the organization of medical support for students, which aims at more personalized work with students.

СОВРЕМЕННЫЕ АСПЕКТЫ ПАТРИОТИЧЕСКОГО ВОСПИТАНИЯ СТУДЕНТОВ ВЫСШИХ УЧЕБНЫХ ЗАВЕДЕНИЙ

The article considers the concept of patriotic education, the main normative-legal documents regulat-ing this process in the Russian Federation, as well as its importance in the formation of personality of students of higher educational institutions. The list of activities that allow to realize a comprehensive approach to patriotic education of students of higher education institutions is presented

The state of physical readiness of the students of higher education institutions to the defense of Ukraine

The article reveals the theoretical issues of patriotic upbringing and physical readiness of students of educational institutions to defend the state. It was revealed that modern realities led to intensify the search for an effective content of the educational process in physical education, the introduction of physical culture, health and applied technologies to increase the level of physical fitness and mastery of military-applied physical skills and abilities by students of higher education institutions. The purpose of the article is to study the state of physical preparedness of students of higher education institutions to protect the national sovereignty and integrity of Ukraine. Physical readiness refers to the student's physical condition which allows him to perform physical exercises and overcome obstacles that may be encountered in accordance with the requirements of the military task. Departments of physical education should ensure the proper physical readiness of students for life and military service in higher education institutions. Currently, the level of physical preparedness of students of higher education institutions does not meet the requirements for conscripts in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Studies have confirmed that only 7.0% of first-year students have a high level of physical preparedness, these are as a rule athletes who have a high qualification or those who systematically do physical exercises, visit gyms or physical culture and health centers. 24.0% of students are classified as average, 37.2% as low and 31.8% as poor respectively. It can be assumed that 69.0% of the first-year students who have just entered the university are not ready to defend the Motherland in terms of physical preparedness. The system of physical education in higher education institutions of Ukraine needs a fundamental restructuring and restoration.

Mental fitness as a modern trend in physical culture

The article examines mental fitness as a modern trend in physical culture. It is noted that "fitness" is the pursuit of optimal quality of life, which includes social, mental, physical and spiritual components. It is determined that mental fitness is a great way to relieve stress, improve not only physical but also mental health, alleviate psychological problems and get rid of many diseases. Mental fitness includes stretching, balancing, breathing, and relaxation exercises. It is emphasized that mental fitness is one of the safest forms of exercise. It includes yoga, Chinese wushu gymnastics and its varieties, stretching, European Pilates, Feldenkrais, Loban, Alexander, Kalan Pinkney (Callonica) and other programs; all of them are largely based on the principles of Eastern health systems. All Eastern systems are characterized by the active involvement of mental activity, concentration, conscious breathing, meditation and relaxation. It is concluded that in order to improve the health and level of physical activity of students of higher educational institutions, it is necessary to use popular areas of mental fitness - Pilates and fitness yoga, which are valuable in the field of physical training.

Students’ Integrative and Instrumental Motivation for Learning English as a Second Language

Objective: This research investigates the influence of integrative and instrumental motivations on English Language Learning (ELL) among students in private educational institutions within the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It aims to discern which type of motivation—integrative or instrumental—exerts a greater impact on second language acquisition. Method: A quantitative research methodology was employed, utilizing a 44-item questionnaire adapted from the Motivation Test Battery. The study sample consisted of 101 English as a Second Language (ESL) students. Statistical tools such as regression analysis and correlation coefficients were used to analyse the data, providing insights into the relationships between motivational types and language acquisition success. Results and Discussion: The study revealed a positive correlation between both integrative and instrumental motivations and ELL. Notably, integrative motivation had a more substantial influence on the ESL outcomes compared to instrumental motivation. These results underline the complexity of motivational impacts on language learning, with integrative motivation playing a pivotal role. Research Implications: The findings suggest that educational strategies that enhance integrative motivation could be more effective in promoting successful language learning. This could involve fostering a deeper connection with the language community and culture, thereby enriching the educational experience and outcomes for ESL learners. Originality/Value: This study contributes to the existing body of knowledge by focusing on the comparative impacts of integrative and instrumental motivations in the context of the UAE—a region where such studies are seldom conducted. The insights regarding the predominant influence of integrative motivation add a valuable dimension to the global discourse on second language acquisition, especially in multilingual and multicultural learning environments.
