KEEFEKTIFAN TEKNIK SHOW NOT TELL TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN MENULIS RUPAMA SISWA KELAS 8 SMPN 26 MAKASSAR

This research aims to: describe the ability of 8th-grade students at SMPN 26 Makassar in writing Rupama literature before using the show not tell technique; describe the ability of 8th-grade students at SMPN 26 Makassar in writing Rupama literature after using the show not tell technique, and; describe the effectiveness of the use of the show not tell technique in writing Rupama literature for 8th-grade students at SMPN 26 Makassar. This study is an Experimental Research. The research design is One Group Pretest Posttest. The variables in the study are the show not tell technique and the writing ability of Rupama literature for 8th-grade students at SMPN 26 Makassar. The research sample consists of students from the 8th grade at SMPN 26 Makassar. The data collection technique used is the initial test (pretest) and the final test (posttest). The data analysis technique includes descriptive statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and graphs. The results of this research indicate that: the ability to write Rupama literature by students before using the show not tell technique is categorized as subpar, the ability to write Rupama literature by students after using the show not tell technique is categorized as sufficient, and the show not tell technique is not effective in improving the ability to write Rupama literature.

THE INFLUENCE OF EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES ON THE INTEREST OF CZECH AND FINNISH STUDENTS IN BIOLOGY

Extracurricular learning plays a key role in shaping students' interest in (not only) biology. The research examined which extracurricular areas related to biology can make biology more attractive for the participating Finnish and Czech students. A 5-point Likert scale questionnaire was administered to 178 Finnish and 195 Czech 9th-grade lower-secondary school students. Cronbach's alpha, Varimax rotation and Mann–Whitney U-test were performed. Factor analysis identified 7 areas: Family trips, My career, Biology lessons, Healthy lifestyle, Institutions, Nature-related hobbies, and Information sources. For Czech, hobbies related to nature and family trips are significant contributors to fostering interest in biology, and an informal educational environment is crucial for cultivating a lasting relationship with biology. For Finns, biology classes and career orientation have a more significant influence on students, demonstrating the effectiveness of formal educational strategies in increasing students' interest in biology. Increasing interest in biology among the students observed in both sociocultural environments is significantly influenced by family involvement and the use of information sources. Further research should explore how specific ECA can support the connection between family and school environments and their impact on students' interest and engagement in biology lessons. The Role of Teachers in Active Learning to Enhance Students' Interest in National Integration Material for 10th Grade Students at State Senior High School 1 SIMPANG KANAN

Education encompasses learning experiences occurring in various environments throughout life and can be interpreted as teaching organized in schools as formal educational institutions. Teachers play a crucial role in educating students to develop good character by using varied methods to create an engaging learning atmosphere. One increasingly popular method in educational practice is Active Learning. Learning interest significantly influences the learning process. At SMA Negeri 1 Simpang Kanan, students' interest in Civics, particularly the topic of National Integration, is still low, resulting in poor learning outcomes. This research aims to understand how to increase the interest of 10th-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Simpang Kanan in the topic of National Integration and to identify factors causing the lack of interest. The research employs a qualitative method with data collection techniques including interviews, documentation studies, and observations. The results show that using Active Learning methods can improve students' learning outcomes in the topic of National Integration, positively impacting their learning interest.

Comparative Analysis of Students' Biology Learning Outcomes: Memory and Understanding Aspects

Purpose of the study: This research aims to analyze the learning outcomes of 11th-grade students by examining how they answer questions using memory aspects, evaluate the overall learning outcomes of the class, and identify the differences in learning outcomes between students who use memory aspects and those who use comprehension aspects to solve questions. Methodology: This study is a true experimental study. The population in this study were all students of Public High School 6 South Bengkulu totaling 142 people. The sample was taken using a random sampling technique of 42 people was obtained. This study used a learning outcome test instrument in form of multiple choice questions. Data analysis techniques used include descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. Main Findings: The analysis shows that students' abilities are in the moderate category. Biology learning outcomes are in the high category. The results of the hypothesis test show that the significance value is less than 0.05, so Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means that there is a significant difference in the learning outcomes of class XI science students at Public High School 6 South Bengkulu who use memory and understanding aspects in answering questions. Novelty/Originality of this study: This type of study can provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of both cognitive abilities in understanding and remembering information in the context of learning Biology subjects. In addition, this study can also provide information to educators about more effective ways to help students learn and remember subject matter better.

Prevention of Dengue Fever Based on Dominant Risk Factors within Elementary School Environment in Bandung City

Background: Dengue fever is an environment-based disease that is endemic in Bandung City. Bandung City with an average temperature of 25.86°C has a humid and cool climate which is a favorable environment for Aedes aegypti. The average amount of rain per day is 21.3 days per month with an average rainfall of 200.4 mm. These environmental conditions favor the breeding of Aedes aegypti. Objective: The study aimed to obtain the dominant variables in the 3M Plus PSN.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain cross sectional. Method: The population in this study were all elementary school students in Bandung City. Through the Cluster Sampling calculation, 973 minimum samples from 13 elementary schools were obtained. With a minimum sample for each elementary school totaling 76 6th-grade students. Results: The results of the study showed that a Knowledge P-value of 0.023, Attitude P-value 0.036, Perception P-value of 0.000, and motivation P-value of 0.018 were associated with DHF Prevention through 3M Plus PSN. Exposure to information media on dengue prevention through the 3M Plus PSN is not associated with dengue prevention through the 3M Plus PSN. The variable that most influenced the prevention of Dengue Fever through the 3M Plus PSN was perception with a P-value of 0.000 CI of 2.118 (1.639-2.737). Conclusion: Knowledge, perception, attitude, and motivation are related to dengue fever prevention through 3M Plus PSN. Perception is the most dominant factor associated with the prevention of dengue fever through the 3M Plus PSN.

MENGKAJI KEUNGGULAN KURIKULUM IPA FINLANDIA UNTUK MENINGKATKAN PENDIDIKAN SAINS DI INDONESIA

<p><em>The issues in education in Indonesia, particularly in the field of Natural Sciences, are very concerning. According to the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) survey by the OECD, Indonesian students' abilities in science rank low globally, with a ranking of 71 out of 77 countries in 2018 and 68 out of 81 countries in 2023. The science scores also declined from 396 to 383, far below the RPJMN target of 402. Data from the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) shows that Indonesian 4th and 8th-grade students also rank low internationally. The research methodology uses a qualitative approach through a literature study. Data analysis indicates that the content and competency-based science curriculum in Finland provides a good model by integrating theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Science education in Finland, which is interactive and student-centered, can serve as a reference for improving the curriculum in Indonesia. A comprehensive and context-based science learning approach is needed to enhance the quality of science education in Indonesia. The PISA and TIMSS survey results emphasize the need for improvements in science learning in Indonesia. Science, as systematic knowledge and a scientific process, requires a holistic and integrated learning approach. An integrated science approach that connects science to everyday life is crucial for developing scientific processes in students. Science teachers are expected to have interdisciplinary abilities and knowledge integration. However, often the curriculum and the quality of teachers do not support this goal. This study compares the 2013 Curriculum in Indonesia with the Finnish Curriculum to see the similarities, differences, and obstacles in science learning</em>.</p>

Pengembangan E-Modul Persamaan Lingkaran Kelas XI MA dengan Menggunakan Aplikasi Heyzine

Abstract This research aims to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of using the Heyzine application in teaching circular equations to 11th-grade students in senior high school. The research method employed the Four-D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) development model developed by S. Thiagarajan, Dorothy Semmel, and Melvyn I. Semmel. Data collection involved documentation and questionnaires, while data analysis used a descriptive qualitative approach. The results showed that the e-module for mathematics instruction was deemed highly valid by experts and practitioners. The validity percentages of the e-module were as follows: 82.5% for subject matter experts with the criteria "very valid," 89% for media experts with the criteria "very valid," 85% for language experts with the criteria "very valid," and 82.75% for practitioners with the criteria "very valid." Thus, the overall validity averaged 84.81% with the criteria "very valid." The mathematics e-module on circular equations was also evaluated to meet usability aspects. Student responses to the e-module's usability across 13 assessment aspects averaged 87.53%, indicating that the e-module fulfilled usability requirements in practice. The use of the Heyzine application in teaching circular equations was proven effective, as there was an increase in student learning interest after using the module. The increase in student interest in learning mathematics reached 37.679%. Therefore, this e-module can be considered an effective alternative for improving the teaching of circular equations to 11th-grade students in senior high school. Keywords: E-Module, Heyzine

Studying Students’ Representations of the “Orbital” and “Electron Cloud” Concepts

The study investigates secondary students’ understanding of “orbital” and “electron cloud” concepts in different quantum contexts (for values of the ʽprincipal quantum number n = 1 and n = 2) on the basis of their verbal and pictorial representations, evaluating also their consistency. Participants, which were 192 12th-grade students from six urban secondary schools of Northern Greece, represented these two concepts through two corresponding tasks of a paper-and-pencil assessment tool, each of which comprised two parts for verbal and pictorial representations, respectively. Results provide evidence that although students struggle to express verbally the orbital and electron cloud concepts, their competences in the corresponding pictorial representations are relatively better, exhibiting inconsistencies between verbal and pictorial representations. Inconsistencies also exist between representations of the orbital and electron cloud concepts, since students appear to have verbally a better understanding of the electron cloud than the orbital, whereas the opposite holds true for their pictorial representations. Comparing verbal and pictorial representations, the pictorial ones appear to be more consistent tools, whereas a quantum context defined by n = 2 seems to be more challenging for students compared to that of n = 1. Furthermore, an analysis of student profiles leads to their categorization in four classes, providing additional relevant information. Implications for science education are also discussed.

The Effect of Dental Health Education through Leaflet Media on Student's Knowledge

Introduction: The children aged 6-14 years are an age group that is critical for the occurrence of dental caries and has special characteristics, namely the period of replacement of deciduous teeth with permanent teeth. This group has a fairly high prevalence rate of dental caries, reaching 60-80%. In general development, dental caries looks very active at ages 4-8 years and ages 11-19 years. Based on the initial inspection at Hang Tuah 6 Elementary School Surabaya, there were 43 students with DMF-T index amount 4.5 in the high category. And the remaining data was obtained from 37 students, only 2 students were caries free. And it can be seen that the DMF-T index of 8.1 is a problem in this research, namely the high percentage of dental caries in students in 5th and 6th grade at Hang Tuah 6 Elementary School Surabaya in 2023. Purpose: This study purposes to analyze the relationship between knowledge on dental health education using leaflet media. Materials and Methods: The sampling technique used in this research is purposive sampling. The criteria for this research sample were students in 5th and 6th grade at Hang Tuah 6 Elementary School Surabaya. Data analysis using a simple linear regression statistical test with the aim of comparing the average results of the pre-test with the post-test in the intervention group, the decision to test the research hypothesis is based on the significant level < 0,05. Results: The characteristic of the respondents who were research subjects included age, gender, and number of students in each class. there is a variable influence of providing education through leaflet media on student's knowledge of dental and oral health Hang Tuah 6 Elementary School Surabaya. The table also explains the magnitude of the correlation/relationship value (R), which is 0.208. From this output, a coefficient of determination (R square) of 0.043 is obtained, which means that the independent variable to the dependent variable is 4,3%. Conclusions: The effect of dental health education using leaflet media on dental and oral health knowledge among students at Hang Tuah 6 Elementary School, Surabaya in 2023, this is based on a ρ value of 0.000<0.05, where H0 rejected and Ha accepted.

Does Physical Education Activity Affect Character Development in Primary School Students?

Physical education activities play a role in developing students’ physical abilities and have significant potential in shaping their character. This study aims to determine the effect of physical education activities on the character development of primary school students. The research method used was pre-experimentation with pretest-posttest (one group pretest-posttest design). The sample used was the 5th-grade students of Muhamadiyah Jogokaryan Primary School, with as many as 50 students [male: 38, female: 12], aged 8-12 years. Observation sheet instrument [Aiken V Validation: 0.94, Cronbach’s Alpha Reliability Value: 0.813] was used to collect the data and to measure the students’ character. The analysis technique used a dependent paired t-test. The results of the difference test showed that the value of Sig. (2-tailed) was 0.000 < 0.005, indicating a significant difference in students’ character development after participating in physical education activities. Therefore, physical education activities significantly positively affect students’ character development. In conclusion, Physical Education plays a vital role in the character development of primary school students.

Improving Student Learning Outcomes on Earth Layers Material by Using Audio Visual Media

Purpose of the study: The researcher aims to determine the increase in student learning outcomes in the earth's layers material by using audio-visual media. Methodology: This research is classroom action research. The subjects in this research were 7th grade students with a total of 39 students using a simple random sampling technique. The data collection instruments in this research consisted of multiple choice questions, observation sheets for teachers and students and documentation. Data analysis uses descriptive statistical analysis. Main Findings: The results of this research found that by using audio visual media students were more enthusiastic in participating in learning and with the help of discussion methods students were more active and discussing with groups, with audio visual media students' learning outcomes also increased, from the learning of each cycle in class VII F students a number There were 39 students who had not achieved learning completeness, 20 students in cycle I and 2 students in cycle II. After implementing the learning actions, there were still 2 students whose scores were less than 75 or had not reached the minimum completeness criteria of 75. Then these students were given further study guidance and given remedial measures. Novelty/Originality of this study: The novelty of this research is that it shows adaptation to students' learning styles or individual needs in the context of earth layer material, this can be considered an innovative step. A personalized learning approach can increase learning effectiveness.

ВЛИЯНИЕ ИСПОЛЬЗОВАНИЯ МЕТОДА ПЕРЕВЕРНУТОГОКЛАССА В СРЕДНЕЙ ШКОЛЕ

For many years, the school education system represented alecture-explanatory method of teaching and learning, where the teacher had therole of only an informer and lecturer. But with the development of our society,the goals and requirements of the education system began to change. Timerequires the inclusion in the education system of active learning methods, andinnovative pedagogical interventions to contribute to the development ofcognitive and higher-order thinking skills, and thereby protect students frompassive, unmotivated behavior. This paper analyses the impact of the implementation of a flipped teaching methodology in the school educationsystem on the motivation of students studying mathematics in high school. Themain purpose of the article is to confirm the effectiveness of the flippedclassroom in improving the academic indicators of students related to theirattitude - motivation in particular. Having chosen for the experiment a group of26 high school students, we conducted the statistical analysis. Taking the pretest and post-test consistent with 33 questions from the participants of theexperiment, using the analysis of the t-test, we revealed a significant increase inthe level of motivation among 9th-grade students. This article clearly shows thatthe techniques used in the flipped classroom have a beneficial effect on students'attitudes and motivation towards the subject.

The evolution of students’ digital skills as a source of transformation of the learning process in general and vocational education organizations

Mastering digital skills is one of the requirements of the modern world. Digital skills are usually divided into professional and user skills. Professional skills are formed in the systems of secondary, higher, and additional vocational education. User skills can be mastered in the system of general education. The boundaries between professional and user digital skills are increasingly blurred, and, therefore, it is necessary to rethink the requirements for the results of professional and general education in terms of the formation of digital skills.The material of the described study were the results of an independent assessment of digital skills of 8th grade students commissioned by the Department of Education of the Perm City Administration. The content of the independent assessment was designed considering modern international studies on the quality of education as well as primary idea that the digital literacy of each user promotes the building of a conscientious, fair, and secure digital community. The article has been prepared as an interdisciplinary publication that integrates aspects of general and professional pedagogy, methods of teaching mathematics and informatics, and the technical aspect of using software for processing large amounts of data.The study revealed new opportunities for the formation and assessment of digital skills of students of general educational organizations and, as a consequence, formulated recommendations for the training of teachers of mathematics and informatics both in terms of the disciplines content and teaching methods.

EFL Students’ Online Learning Readiness: Performing Out the Basic Functions of Technology

This study aimed at investigating the 12th-grade students’ online learning readiness in utilizing basic technological functions in their English teaching and learning process. An explanatory sequential mixed-method design was employed, surveying 233 students from Hospitality and Culinary classes at a senior vocational high school in South Bali through a questionnaire. Interviews were further conducted via personal messages with two highest readiness level students and two lowest readiness levels to comprehensively study readiness. The questionnaire result indicated that students are prepared to use basic functions of technology for online learning, with a few necessary improvements. Interview findings revealed that highly prepared students are more motivated to engage in online learning, whereas less prepared students are more demotivated due to factors like online learning support, familiarity with tools, and supporting facilities. It is suggested to actively support the less-ready students with highly engaged learning activities, pedagogically empowered teachers, and supportive policies and facilities.

Half-life and Lifeworld: The Omission of School Knowledge in Writing about Radioactive Waste

We report on a pilot study investigating student writing about radioactive waste before and after instruction on half-life. We found that none of the (N = 21) 12th-grade students mentioned half-life on the post-test writing task, despite the post-test being separated from the intervention by only a short amount of time. This is consistent with previous research conducted by Eijkelhof et al. which showed that, even after formal learning, students are unlikely to be influenced in terms of their views about topics in the lifeworld (such as where to store waste from nuclear power plants). Our study, though small, is pioneering in that we analyze both student writings and responses to survey questions in our assertion that the issue is neither student writing ability nor conceptual understanding. We hypothesize, rather, that students (at least on a sub-conscious level) do not think the topic of half-life is relevant to the writing task. This suggests that instruction aiming to improve student writing about science issues in the lifeworld should provide scaffolding to emphasize the usefulness of school knowledge in that writing.

STAD Learning Model Using the Problem Solving Method for Critical Thinking in Grade IV Elementary School Students

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Student Teams Achievement Division learning model with the Problem Solving method on critical thinking of 4th grade students at SDN Dukuh Menanggal 1 Surabaya.The research design in this study is experimental quantitative research. The research design used is nonequivalent control group design with posttest-only control design type. The sample and population were all fourth grade students of SDN Dukuh Menaggal consisting of two classes with a total of 62 students, namely class IV A of 31 students and class IV B of 31 students. The sampling technique in this study used saturated sampling. The research instrument used was a test. It was obtained that the average value (mean) of the posttest in the experimental class was 79.03, while for the average value (mean) in the control class was 69.03. From the calculation using t-test analysis and the results of the analysis obtained a Sig value. (2 tailed) 0.000. Then obtained Sig. (2 tailed) α 0.05 or 0.000 <0.05. Then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. That students who are taught using the STAD learning model with the Problem Solving method on students' critical thinking show higher results. So it can be said that learning IPAS material on Indonesian cultural wealth using the STAD learning model with the Problem Solving method on critical thinking of fourth grade students of SDN Dukuh Menanggal 1 Surabaya is more effective than conventional learning.

Knowledge, attitudes and practices about air pollution and its health effects in 6th to 11th-grade students in Colombia: a cross-sectional study.

Globally, air pollution is the leading environmental cause of disease and premature death. Raising awareness through environmental education and adequate communication on air quality could reduce the adverse effects. We aimed to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) regarding air pollution and health and determine the factors associated with these KAP in children and adolescents. In 2019-2020, a cross-sectional study was conducted on 6th-11th grade high school students in five municipalities in Colombia. Variables collected included: age, sex, private or public school, any medical history, emergency room visits due to respiratory symptoms in the last year, and whether students played sports. The main exposure was the School Environmental Project. The outcomes were the KAP scale [0% (the lowest score) to 100% (the highest score)]. The factors associated with KAP levels were evaluated with independent mixed regressions due to the multilevel structure of the study (level 1: student; level 2: school), and the exponential coefficients (95% confidence interval-CI) were reported. Among 1,676 students included, 53.8% were females. The median knowledge score about air pollution and its health effects was 33.8% (IQR: 24.0-44.9), 38.6% knew the air quality index, 30.9% knew the air quality alerts that occurred twice a year in these municipalities and 5.3% had high self-perceived knowledge. Positive attitudes, pro-environmental practices, being female, grade level, attending a private school, having respiratory diseases, and the school environmental project importance were associated with higher knowledge scores. The median attitudes score was 78.6% (IQR: 71.4-92.9). Pro-environmental attitudes were associated with knowledge-increasing, being female, attending a private school, and the school environmental project. The median pro-environmental practices score was 28.6% (IQR: 28.6-42.9). During air quality alerts, 11.6% had worn masks, 19% had reduced the opening time of windows and 15.9% avoided leaving home. Pro-environmental practices were associated with knowledge-increasing and attitudes-increasing, and lower practices with higher grade levels, visiting a doctor in the last year, and practicing sports. Children and adolescents have low knowledge scores and inadequate pro-environmental practices scores regarding air pollution. However, they demonstrate positive attitudes towards alternative solutions and express important concerns about the planet's future.

The Effect of Computer-Based Interactive Conceptual Change Texts on Eleventh Grade Students’ Understanding of Electrochemistry Concepts

<p style="text-align:justify">The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of conceptual change-oriented instruction accompanied by computer-based interactive conceptual change text (CBICCT) on 11th grade students understanding of electrochemistry. The study was conducted in a high school in Ankara with 66 students enrolled in two science classes. A quasi-experimental design was used. The classes were assigned to groups; one as a control group and the other as an experimental group. While the control group was given traditional instruction, the experimental group was given conceptual change-oriented instruction accompanied by CBICCT. The Electrochemistry Concept Test (ECT) was administered before and after treatment. To investigate possible covariates, the Science Process Skills Test (SPST) was administered after treatment. The gain scores of ECT were analyzed with two-way ANCOVA when SPST scores were controlled as covariates, and the results showed that the experimental group developed a significantly better understanding of concepts than the control group. The results also showed that there was no mean difference between males and females and no interaction effect between instruction method and gender.</p>

INVESTIGATING THE EFFICACY OF U-DICTIONARY APP FOR IMPROVING STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY

The objective of this study is to assess how well the U-Dictionary app enhances the English vocabulary skills of 10th-grade students at SMK Al-Haromain. This research employs a Quasi-Experimental approach, which includes two groups: an experimental group and a control group. The participants in this research were students from class X TKJ assigned to the experimental group, while students from class X TBSM were assigned to the control group. The data collection tool consists of a Pre-test and Post-test, which includes a total of 20 valid multiple choice questions. The researcher utilized the independent sample t-test feature in the SPSS software to verify the accuracy of the hypothesis. The mean post-test value in the experimental class was 87.6, while in the control class it was 72.8, according to the results of the two-tailed independent sample t-test. It can be inferred that the utilization of the U-Dictionary app effectively enhances the vocabulary proficiency of 10th-grade students at SMK Al-Haromain Mayong.

STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION AND ATTITUDE ON ‘CODE HUNTING’ FOR OUTDOOR GRAMMAR LEARNING

For far too long, grammar lesson has been a concern amongst English teachers and a challenging journey for EFL learners. The conventional grammar learning process tended to be considered boring and complicated by students due to the monotonous teaching method used by teachers which leads to the students’ disengagement. Therefore, the researchers tried to employ a new grammar teaching strategy called ‘Code Hunting’. This survey research aimed to investigate the students’ perspectives towards the use of Code Hunting in the grammar learning process. In this research, the researchers used a quantitative method with descriptive quantitative as the research design. The participants were 60 11th-grade students in one of the senior high schools in Batu, East Java. The findings of this research showed that most students strongly agreed that grammar learning through Code Hunting was easier to understand, far more engaging, and increased their willingness to learn grammar. This research implies that Code Hunting is an effective tool to teach grammar. Thus, it is recommended for English teachers to use Code Hunting and could be offered as a strategy to create an interesting learning experience, especially in the grammar learning process. Furthermore, it is suggested for future researchers to explore more of the students’ perspectives using interview session in order to collect more in-depth information on the impact of Code Hunting.
