Implementation of Jarimatika Method to Improve Multiplication Calculation Ability in Grade III Elementary School Students

This study aims to describe the use of the jarimatika method to improve multiplication calculation skills in grade III students at SD Negeri 2 Surabaya Utara in the 2023/2024 Academic Year. This research approach is a classroom action research with four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques in this study used observation, tests and documentation. The data obtained from the research results were then analyzed using data analysis consisting of three stages, namely (1) data reduction, (2) data presentation, (3) drawing conclusions. Based on the initial conditions, the first data obtained were only 11 students (60.4%) whose scores were able to reach the KKTP while 14 students (39.6%) whose scores were below the KKTP. After conducting the research, the results obtained showed that in cycle I there were 19 students (72.48) who were able to achieve the KKTP score and 6 (27.52%) students whose scores were below the KKTP. Meanwhile, in cycle II, there were 2 students (19.28) who were below the KKTP and 23 (80.72%) students who were able to achieve the KKTP score. This shows that learning activities using the jarimatika method can improve student learning outcomes in multiplication material.

The influences of virtual-reality- and animation-supported gamified learning processes on students’ learning achievement and behavioral intention in retailing management courses

The application of virtual reality (VR)/animation-enhanced technologies to various educational settings has received increasing attention from academics and educators. However, empirical investigation of this issue using an integrated theoretical perspective is scarce in management education. Additionally, prior studies that specifically investigate the influences of the technological attributes of VR/animation-enhanced technologies and learners’ perceptions and experiences in management education contexts are scarce. This study thus investigates this issue by adopting the viewpoints of technological attributes and individual perceptions and experiences to comprehend students’ situated experiential learning. Therefore, to examine whether such a learning method improves learning achievement by enhancing long-term memory, this study conducted a quasi-experiment to understand how technological attributes influence students' cognitive and affective responses, confidence, and satisfaction, thus affecting behavioral intention and learning achievement. A total of 230 students participated in this study. The stimulus-organism-response model, situated learning theory, and flow theory were integrated in this study to explore the relationships between the factors of psychological state and students' experiential learning processes. All hypotheses were supported, except confidence did not significantly influence students' behavioral intention and learning achievement after four weeks. The implications for theory and practice of this study are subsequently discussed.

METODE GURU PENDIDIKAN AGAMA KRISTEN DALAM MEMBANTU SISWA TUNANETRA (GANGGUAN PADA PENGLIHATAN) DALAM BELAJAR

The purpose of this study is to find out and provide appropriate teaching methods for Christian Religious Education (PAK) teachers to help visually impaired students in learning. Because there are still Christian religious education teachers in teaching the visually impaired only use conventional methods (lectures) which are monotonous and less interesting. As a result, students often feel bored and have difficulty understanding the learning material. For this reason, this research uses a qualitative method with a literature research approach. Data was collected by reviewing various literature, articles, books, and related sources of information. The results show that Christian Religious Education teachers can use several teaching methods that are suitable for the characteristics of visually impaired students, such as the lecture method, question and answer method, discussion method, and drill method. In addition, Christian Religious Education teachers must give special attention, guide, and motivate blind students to help them learn. The conclusion of this research is that Christian Religious Education teachers must be able to apply a variety of appropriate and interesting teaching methods in an innovative, creative, and versatile manner to optimize the learning experience of blind students, making learning more effective and enjoyable. Appropriate teaching methods and supportive approaches significantly improve students' engagement and understanding of the teaching materials.

El Uso de la Gamificación para Mejorar el Idioma Inglés en un Proceso de Enseñanza – Aprendizaje en una Escuela de Chone

The objective of the research was: Analyze how to improve English language learning through gamification at a school in Chone. Updated investigative information was examined that allowed us to identify reasons that limit students learning and that teachers face, which is why the use of recreational activities is considered important to use for a better teaching process, the literary review indicates that songs help students learn faster, enjoy classes, the gamification strategy, which is a technique that uses the game as a mechanism for non-playful contexts, which aims to optimize the stimulation and collaboration of students, to make music learning fun and interactive. The affirmation of the positive of the use of music is because the student becomes emotionally involved and facilitates a notable and explanatory argument for learning. The approach and type of research was quantitative and qualitative, the methodological process was a bibliographic review of specialists on the subject, scientific journals on the Internet, among others, in addition, and the results achieved indicate that 100% of those surveyed consider the use of gamification to be transcendental for the teaching-learning process of English as a second language, which will give students the opportunity to insert themselves into the current interconnected global world, which will be of pedagogical benefit, formative, social and economic.

Are Knowledge Management Courses in South Asia Designed Well? A Content Analysis of Syllabi and a Case Study

Abstract: Knowledge management (KM) is a set of processes to improve organizational functioning by harnessing organizational knowledge. KM has been taught in different global universities—either as standalone courses or as programs of study. While KM is also taught in a number of library and information science (LIS) programs in South Asian (SA) universities, it is not clear which schools offer KM courses, what topics are covered, which readings are assigned, and how student learning is assessed in these courses. How does KM education in a developing SA country compare with KM education in a developed country? What are the enablers and barriers to KM course design and delivery in South Asia? We explored the answers to these questions through a content analysis of syllabi of KM courses in SA LIS programs as well as a case study comparing the way KM is taught in an SA country and in the United States. Through applying theories of expectancy, information poverty, Bloom’s taxonomy, and context, the study recommends a model KM syllabus template and a research framework for KM education in South Asia. The study concludes that for SA KM education to reach global standards, systemic barriers would need to be addressed.

Assessment of a Low-cost Canine Uterine Simulator as a Tool for Teaching the Ovariohysterectomy Technique to Veterinary Students.

The acquisition of skills to perform an ovariohysterectomy (OVH) is crucial for veterinary medicine students. It has been demonstrated that the most effective way to develop these skills is through repetitive training on simulators. Unfortunately, commercial simulators are expensive, limiting their use and highlighting the need for the development of more cost-effective alternatives. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of a low-cost, easily constructed textile-based simulator for the canine ovaries and uterus in training veterinary students on the OVH technique. The impact of tutor guidance on student learning was also assessed. Participants were divided into two groups: simulator and tutor guidance (SG) and simulator only (SO). Each student performed 20 repetitions of the three-clamp OVH technique, and the number of errors and execution time were quantified. The SG group reached the learning curve plateau in terms of minimum errors on the 7th repetition and attained the fastest time on the 6th repetition. The SO group reached the learning curve plateau in terms of minimum errors and attained the fastest time both on the 15th repetition. From individuals in the SG group, there were no requests for tutor guidance from the 11th attempt. This low-cost simulator is ideal for training veterinary students in the early stages of surgical learning, as it effectively facilitates learning the OVH procedure without the use of live animals.

Musculoskeletal Clinical Online Cases With a Focus on Anatomy for Preclinical Learners.

While musculoskeletal disorders are leading causes of medical visits, musculoskeletal education is underrepresented in US medical curricula. Previous studies have demonstrated that undergraduate medical students often fail to demonstrate competency surrounding musculoskeletal disorders. More educational content is needed to support musculoskeletal knowledge in learners. We developed an online, case-based musculoskeletal module for second-year medical students alongside their standard course material and presented clinical cases with multiple-choice question quizzes regarding the presentation, diagnosis, and anatomic correlation of musculoskeletal conditions. Cases, under 10 minutes each, targeted common, medically important areas of musculoskeletal health. Grades in the required musculoskeletal course were significantly and positively correlated with online module quiz performance. 258 (73%) of 354 students completed at least one quiz, and students completed an average of 14 out of 15 quizzes. Learners who completed more than 50% of the quizzes performed significantly better in the course than those who completed fewer quizzes; this was true for a formative internal course exam (p = .035), an NBME customized assessment (p = .008), and the course overall (p = .021). Additional analyses of students' perceptions revealed that students valued the self-directed online learning environment. The high completion rate (73%) for the online module also signaled student value in the content and format. This module represents educational material that has been demonstrated to improve medical student musculoskeletal learning. Additionally, the module could be expanded to address inadequacies in orthopedic education among other students, such as allied health learners.

Incorporating augmented reality into teaching marketing strategies: Perspectives from business education teachers and students

This study investigates the perceptions of business education instructors and their students regarding using augmented reality (AR) for teaching marketing strategies. Given the changes in education technologies in recent times, teaching strategies and approaches have changed. The study foresees that using AR, a digital resource essential for exposing students to real-life learning experiences, may improve students' learning experiences. The study employed a mixed-method research design to gather information from 112 individuals on the study's objectives. The researchers collected and evaluated data to investigate the participants' perspectives on utilizing augmented reality. The findings of this study reveal that although most studies assert that AR is effective in improving students' learning experiences, students and teachers acknowledged several drawbacks. This study indicates that if AR is used without effective teaching procedures and methodologies, it may not achieve the desired learning outcomes. Other findings were used to make conclusions on the study's objectives.

Active Methodologies In Higher Education

Active methodologies are the educational conception that enables the higher education student to be the protagonist of his learning. The present study aims to analyze the active methodologies that can be used in the context of higher education, aiming to facilitate and qualify the learning of students. In this sense, some of these methodologies considered innovative today are presented, as well as the flipped classroom, problem-based learning and project-based learning, through a qualitative-bibliographic-research. The work had as theoretical foundation some current and relevant books and articles, which were found in the "Google Scholar" database. The selected materials were analyzed and interpreted for the preparation of the article. With this study, it was found that active methodologies allow the teaching and learning process to be developed through significant and useful pedagogical practices for the students' lives. Thus, in this perspective, such a process can favor critical and reflective thinking, autonomy, problem-solving skills, group work and the active participation of students during classes. Therefore, it is understood that the flipped classroom, problem-based learning and project-based learning are modalities of active methodologies that can be used in Higher Education. These can promote participating, collaborative subjects and producers of their knowledge, aiming to facilitate and qualify students' learning.

A Digital Media-Based Learning Transformation Strategy in an Effort to Implement Differentiated Learning at the PGRI Kamal Madura Special School

This community service that aims to improve teachers' ability to use technology in Special School PGRI Kamal. In the initial observation, the results were obtained that there were various challenges faced by the teacher council at Special School PGRI Kamal in the implementation of learning for students with special needs such as the deaf and speech-impaired. The limited number of teachers which causes an additional workload for teachers. Community service activities are needed by providing workshops. The workshop activities held included the use of audio, visual, and audiovisual media which were carried out offline. The workshop held in this service program is expected to improve teachers' skills in the use of digital media platforms to support learning activities

EMPOWERING INDEPENDENT LEARNING THROUGH ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY: A QUANTITATIVE STUDY ON ITS IMPACT FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES

BACKGROUND The integration of assistive technologies in educational settings offers a promising avenue to enhance the learning experience for students with disabilities. These technologies, including voice recognition software, screen readers, and customizable learning management systems (LMS), have the potential to promote autonomy and engagement by accommodating diverse learning needs. This research will evaluate the effectiveness of these assistive technologies in supporting independent learning among these students. RESEARCH AIM The research aims to assess the usage and accessibility of assistive technologies in GBS, quantify their impact on students with disabilities, and identify the most effective technologies for enhancing learning outcomes. METHODS The study will involve surveys and performance metrics analysis among students with disabilities across various campuses of GBS. Statistical methods, including regression analysis and t-tests, will be employed to analyse the data. RESULTS Expected findings include detailed insights into assistive technology usage patterns and quantitative evidence of their impact on independent learning and academic performance. Recommendations for effective assistive technologies will be provided. CONCLUSION This research is expected to offer empirical evidence on the role of assistive technologies in supporting independent learning for students with disabilities, guiding educational institutions towards creating more inclusive environments.

Analysis of the computerized activities included in Palestinian Mathematics textbooks

Purpose– The study aimed to analyze the standards of computerized activities included in mathematics textbooks based on international standards and indicators. Design/methodology/approach–The researcher developed a tool (content analysis) to analyze these activities and verified its validity and reliability. This tool was then applied to a sample of mathematics textbooks. Findings –The results revealed a significant gap between the expected standards and indicators and the actual standards and indicators found in the mathematics textbooks. Originality/value – It is crucial to consider fundamental international standards in utilizing computer software in mathematics textbooks, including the design of mathematical tasks, posing mathematical questions, facilitating and simplifying mathematical discussions, and assessing student learning. Based on these findings, the researcher recommended a reassessment of the development of computerized activities in mathematics textbooks.

Expanding Digital Literacies Beyond the Digital: Infusing Computational Thinking into Unplugged Pedagogical Tools - Two Case Studies from Mathematics Education

Computational Thinking (CT), the conceptual foundations required for solving complex problems effectively and efficiently, is an imperative skill for today’s learners, across disciplines and across ages. As for its importance in the wide network of digital literacies, CT has been implemented in various educational contexts, however mostly via digital artifacts, specifically in programming-related activities. This approach does not fulfill the potential of such integration for promoting learning. In this paper, we argue that digital literacies should not be bound to the digital realm, and present a novel approach to fully integrate CT into learning and teaching by the development of CT-infused “unplugged” pedagogical tools that are fully embedded in the subject matter. We demonstrate the advantages to student learning of these tools in two case studies from K-12 mathematics education: 1) An assistive tool for function investigation in high-school calculus – in this case, we point out to how CT skills that were implemented in the tool promoted students’ problem solving; 2) A teaching unit for pattern sequences in elementary school – in this case, we show how students in the CT research group outperformed students in the other groups, and how they implemented CT to solve pattern sequence problems effectively and efficiently. We highlight that besides enhancing learning, this approach can help address the important issue of equity in education, and suggest ways to promote it via dedicated professional development.

Peningkatan Hasil Belajar IPAS Menggunakan Model Attention, Relevance, Convidence, Satisfaction di Kelas IV SDN 06 Lasi Mudo Kabupaten Agam

The purpose of this study was to describe the use of the Attention, Relevance, Confidence, Satisfaction model to improve student learning outcomes in IPAS learning. This research is a classroom action research (PTK) that uses qualitative and quantitative approaches. It was carried out in two cycles, where cycle I consisted of 2 meetings and cycle II consisted of 1 meeting. Classroom action research includes four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this research were teachers and 25 students of Class IV SDN 06 Lasi Mudo Agam Regency. The research data were obtained from the teaching module assessment, implementation process, and learning outcomes. Data collection techniques using test, and non-test techniques. The results showed an increase in: a) cycle I teaching modules with an average of 89.6% (Good) and cycle II 95.8% (Very Good), b) Teacher activity in the implementation of cycle I with an average of 81.25% (Fair) and cycle II 95% (Very Good), while student activity in the implementation of cycle I with an average of 81, 25% (Fair), and cycle II 95% (Very Good), c) Assessment of student learning outcomes in cycle I with an average of 77.39 (Fair) and increased in cycle II to 87.07 (Good). Based on these results it can be concluded that the Attention, Relevance, Confidence, Satisfaction model can improve the learning outcomes of students on IPAS material in elementary schools.

ACHIEVING THE CORRECT FORMATION OF STUDENT ABILITIES THROUGH EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES

This article covers the issue of proper formation of student's abilities with the help of educational technologies. Modern digital technologies provide students with a wide range of opportunities to develop critical thinking, creativity, problem solving, and communication skills. The article analyzes the methods of forming the abilities of students through individual education through technologies, interactive educational programs, simulations and online discussion platforms. In addition, the contribution of artificial intelligence and virtual laboratories to the development of skills in the educational process is also discussed. This article includes approaches to improve student learning through the effective use of technology in education.

Prevalence and Determinants of Hypertension Among Urban School Teachers in Patna, India

Background: Hypertension, a major cause of cardiovascular disease, is increasingly common among urban professionals, including school teachers, who face unique stressors and lifestyle challenges. Understanding these factors is essential for developing targeted health interventions. This study aims to determine the prevalence and key determinants of hypertension among government school teachers in Patna. Methodology: A cross-sectional survey was conducted from November 2021 to October 2022 with 1321 teachers from 325 urban schools in Patna. The sample size was calculated based on a 45.4% estimated hypertension prevalence, with a 3% margin of error and 20% non-response rate. Teachers were selected using stratified sampling with probability proportional to size. Results: Of the 1283 respondents, 61.34% were male and 38.66% female. The overall prevalence of hypertension was 14.1%, higher in males (15.5%) than females (11.9%). Hypertension was significantly associated with frequent fast-food consumption, extra salt intake, tobacco use, stress, and higher BMI (p<0.05), though not with age, gender, physical activity, or depression. Conclusions: Improving dietary habits, reducing tobacco use, and managing BMI among teachers can significantly reduce hypertension. Healthier teachers create a better teaching environment, positively impacting student learning outcomes and enhancing the overall educational experience.

Upaya peningkatan pembelajaran bela diri pencak silat melalui pendekatan TARL (Teaching at The Right Level) pada Kelas XI-2 SMA Negeri 10 Semarang

This research aims to improve pencak silat learning abilities through a group work approach in class XI 2 SMA N 10 Semarang. The method used is classroom action research (PTK) with a quantitative approach. The research was carried out in two cycles, each cycle consisting of two meetings. The research results show that learning pencak silat using the Teaching at the Right Level (TARL) approach can improve student learning outcomes. Data on the completeness of student learning outcomes in the pre-cycle, after cycle 1, and after cycle 2 showed a significant increase. Thus, the TARL method is effective in improving the ability of class XI 2 students at SMA N 10 Semarang in learning pencak silat.

Assessment IS learning: developing a student-centred approach for assessment in Higher Education.

Assessment and the associated feedback from those assessments are powerful factors in the development of students' learning. We have seen a shift within the Higher Education sector to conceptualise assessment as being more than summative assessment 'of' learning. Instead, there has been a greater emphasis on assessment 'as' learning, or assessment 'for' learning, through the enhanced use of formative assessments. Centralising assessment within the learning process highlights that assessment IS learning and cannot be separated from other elements of the learning process. In particular, assessment has a vital role to play in the development of students' self-regulated learning skills and the development of independence in learners. However, for assessments to effectively support learning, they need to be meaningful, engaging, well-integrated into the learning activities and 'student-focused'. Placing student skills development and personal development at the centre of assessment design has the potential to empower students through assessment. This review focuses on the potential of assessment to support student learning and development, using the 'Equity, Agency, Transparency' ('EAT') framework as a lens for effective assessment and feedback practices. We suggest ways in which we can make our assessment and feedback practices more inclusive, meaningful and authentic to the students' learning needs.
