<p><em>Teaching material modules as a means of supporting teaching and learning activities for students are a source of learning materials that can improve student learning outcomes. Designed systematically to help the process of understanding the topics discussed in a learning material. The teaching material module has evolved into it earier for students and educators to have flexibility in adequate accessibility anywhere and anytime in a learning contaxt that is not limited to just being in the classroom face to face. The design is effective, such as attention to students learning needs, multimedia-based, combining text, images, video and animation to be more interactive and interesting. The validity test of the website-based teaching material module showed very feasible test results through assessments by media experts, material experts, and trials on students. The learning results obtained from using that the cognitive level of students on the topic of discussion material in this module has increased through a better level of learning outcomes in the average class value compared to conventional modules.</em></p>

Level Kognitif Siswa dalam Menyelesaikan Soal Program Linear Ditinjau dari Jenis Kepribadian

The aim of this research is to determine the cognitive level of class XI IPS 1 student at SMA Negeri 1 Seberuang in solving linear programming problems in terms of personality type. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research. The form of research used is case study research. The subjects of this research were 27 students. Subjects are categorized based on each student's cognitive level. This research began by providing a personality type questionnaire, cognitive level tests, and interviews to categorize students' ability levels. After that, proceed with analyzing and categorizing based on personality type and cognitive level to determine the research subjects who will be interviewed by selecting 6 subjects consisting of 3 students with extroverted personalities whose cognitive levels are high, medium, and low and 3 students with introverted personalities whose cognitive levels are high, medium. and low. From the research results, it was concluded that students with introverted personalities had a higher cognitive level than students with extroverted personalities.

Application of Reading Materials in High School English Teaching

English reading ability is a very important skill for high school students, whether it is required for test-taking or learning the language itself. This study aims to analyze how teachers can better select reading materials for English learners at the high school level from two perspectives: the importance of reading in English learning and the current situation of English reading materials for high school students. Through the method of literature review, eleven authoritative texts were referenced, which included two experimental studies on the topic of the impact of reading materials on student learning outcomes. It was found that there are some problems with the current English reading materials in high schools, such as the limited number of reading materials in textbooks, the lack of interesting reading materials in the market, the lack of cultural information in the reading materials, and the topics that are not close enough to the students real life and interests. In order to solve these problems, teachers should choose reading materials that are suitable for students cognitive level and interests, reduce the reading difficulty, enrich cultural information, reflect the contemporary nature, and be close to students daily life and topics of interest, and ultimately promote the solution of the problems.

Improving Student Motivation and Learning Outcomes Through the Application of Problem-Based Learning Models in Mathematics Learning Specialization

Teachers as educational professionals have an important role in the teaching and learning process. Teachers must be able to explain their knowledge to their students through managing learning by applying teaching approaches and models that are appropriate to the subject matter and cognitive level of students. aims to improve the mathematics learning abilities of XI IPA 2 students at SMAN 7 Sigi even semester for the 2022/2023 academic year in the basic competence "Analyzing division and factorization of polynomials" using Problem-Based Learning. This study used classroom action research with a sample of 37 people consisting of 9 men and 28 women with data collection techniques, namely 1) non-test techniques consisting of observation and documentation, and 2) test techniques. Data validity was carried out through source triangulation and method triangulation with data analysis techniques. The data analysis techniques used in this study are non-test techniques and learning achievement tests. The results of this study indicate that 1) the application of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) learning model that is used as a model in this learning is in fact capable of increasing residual learning motivation in mathematics learning specialization class XI IPA 2 SMAN 7 Sigi even semester of the 2022/2023 academic year; 2) The application of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) learning model that is used as a model in this learning is in fact able to improve the remaining learning outcomes in mathematics learning specialization for class XI IPA 2 SMAN 7 Sigi even semester of the 2022/2023 academic year; 3) The application of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) learning model that is used as a model in this learning is in fact able to increase motivation and residual learning outcomes in mathematics learning specialization class XI IPA 2 SMAN 7 Sigi even semester of the 2022/2023 academic year

Effect of Verification Experimental Methods on Science Process Skills and Chemistry Learning Achievement

Learning by using the verification experimental methods could improve students' cognitive abilities and science process skills. However, there are inconsistent results when applying this method of science process skills and learning achievement. This study was conducted to describe and explain: the simultaneous differences in science process skills and learning achievement between students taught by verification experimental and conventional methods; the differences in student science process skills taught by verification experimental and conventional methods; and the differences in the students’ learning achievement taught by the verification experimental and conventional learning methods. This study was a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest design. The data analysis was conducted using descriptive analysis techniques and multivariate analysis (MANCOVA). The results of the study showed there are simultaneous differences in science process skills and students' learning achievement with an r square price of 0.743, or 74.3%; there are differences in the science process skills of students who studied using the verification experimental methods; and there are differences in students’ learning achievement; the experimental class was is higher than the control class. The other inconsistent results of the study on this method were caused by the different characteristics and cognitive levels of students

A Novel Method for Constructing Online Learning Paths Based on Cognitive Level Assessment of College Students

The cognitive level of students is a very important factor that should be considered when constructing learning paths, however, it’s not that all students could have sufficient technical skills to participate in learning programs offered by the learning paths, so in real cases, the learning paths can hardly meet the actual learning requirements of each student. To solve this matter, this paper aims to explore a new method for constructing online learning paths based on the cognitive level assessment of college students. At first, this paper introduced a deep learning model into the assessment of college students’ cognitive level, that is, the collected data of the feedback assessment information of student learning was adopted to assess the cognitive level of students, then the paper introduced in detail the structure and principle of the proposed model. After that, this paper proposed a weighted learning method that integrates the learning paths of students with different cognitive levels to ensure the interpretability of the generated learning paths. For a specific student cognitive level on learning paths, the proposed method assigns different weights for learning paths based on history student cognitive level on each node of the learning paths, thereby planning better and easier learning paths for students to achieve their learning goals. At last, experimental results verified the validity of the constructed model and the proposed method.

KARAKTERISTIK RESPON SISWA SEKOLAH DASAR DENGAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN BERBASIS MASALAH BERDASARKAN TAKSONOMI SOLO

This research was purposed for knowing Students Respon Characteristic in Problem Based Learning Model based on SOLO Taxonomy. We know that, taxonomy was able to help teacher and students on the learning process. It was used for facilitating mental process, and reach out the aims of learning process. This research is qualitative, which has three steps of analyses. The first step is data reduction, the second is data presentation, the last is data verification. This researchment proves that elementary school students’ cognitive are in multistruktural level. It is proved by ten of twelve students’ answer that stop on the third question, eventhough, two of them are in higher level. SOLO taxonomy is easy to do in learning process, it can help teachers to know students cognitive level, so that they are able to choice the best strategy that fit in to learning process.

The assessment of student numeracy ability for sustainable learning in Indonesia: A study in a high school science class

This study aimed to measure student numeracy ability within the context of physics on the kinetic theory of gases. This study employed a quantitative method with descriptive and parametric statistics analysis. Sixty-two sample students were measured for numeracy ability. The research instrument applied was the ten numeration questions that had been tested empirically. The research indicates that the student cognitive level positively influences numeracy ability with an effect size value of 0.682 and an Adj. R2 value of 0.676. Furthermore, gender-related analysis proves that there is no gap in the numeracy ability with an effect size value of 0.030 and Adj. R2 is 0.014. This study has implications for designing physics learning that develops numeracy ability, especially in determining learning designs that accommodate cognition level and gender.

The impact of the blended learning system on the learning outcomes of physical education and health students: a systematic review

Blended learning is a learning model that is currently receiving high attention from lecturers and students in recent years. However, with so many studies addressing this issue, there has not been a systematic review that specifically analyzes all studies related to the impact of the blended learning system in physical education at the tertiary level. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the overall effect of blended learning in physical education at the university level. Search literature studies obtained using Google Scholar, PubMed, Eric and Science Direct databases. In searching the literature, researchers used the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The literature search strategy includes the following predefined keyword combinations: “blended learning” AND “physical education” AND “sports” AND “college students”. All studies were extracted from the database and data analysis was carried out using the Mendeley application to filter out articles that were duplicates or did not match the research studies. Of the 665 publications obtained from the Google Scholar database, DOAJ, Eric and Science Direct, after passing through the screening, only 13 articles were found that matched the research intervention. The conclusion from the data analysis that has been done explains that the blended learning model is very good at improving students' motor skills. Subsequent significant improvements can also be found at the understanding or cognitive level of students using the blended learning method. In addition, volleyball is one of the most researched and studied sports in all sports, such as badminton, dance, football, athletics, and martial arts. Therefore, further research is expected to be able to dig deeper into the impact of blended learning on increasing student attitude scores and optimizing the use of blended in athletics or martial arts.

Application of Digital Menu Design and Student's Cognitive Level in Food Plating Technique

The cognitive level of students in practical subjects is influenced by various external and internal factors. Cognitive is one of the important elements for students towards the achievement of better skills. The need to strengthen the cognitive level among TVET students has become a priority in the field of education. Effective pedagogical approach should focus on increasing culinary students’ understanding of plating technique. Therefore, the objective of this study is to identify culinary student’s experience using digital platform for plating technique activities, to identify cognitive level of students to understand plating techniques through digital menu design and identify the suitability of culinary students to learn plating techniques digitally. The 63 students from the culinary program who enrolled in practical course. The survey design applied to conduct the research and set of questionnaires as instrument for data collection. The dimension measures are student’s experience, student’s cognitive level and suitability of learning with digital platform. The results of this study show that teaching using digital design for practical classes is an effective teaching that is expected to improve students' cognitive levels and indirectly improve student achievement. Hence, the digital menu design concept perhaps could be applied in other learning content and alternative teaching method in culinary program.

Mobile technologies have started to be preferred as a new learning technology in teaching and learning. Considering the need for adequate and rapid feedback in solving mathematical problems that students have difficulty with reflects the need for a different educational practice and technology. In this study, based on design-based research (DBR) model, a mobile application was developed, which enables the extension of the traditional classroom to a virtual space, where students can practice mathematical problem solving and easily access solutions. The purpose of this study was to determine which mathematics questions that students have difficulty in solving are mainly distributed over which subjects and learning outcomes, and to reveal the cognitive levels of the questions sent. The findings revealed that 'numbers and algebra' was the learning domain, and ‘derivate’ was the subject, which students had the most difficulty with. Moreover, the questions were found to be mostly at the cognitive levels of understanding and applying in Bloom’s Taxonomy. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the mathematics mobile application can be used as an alternative tool examining the learning outcomes and cognitive levels of students.   Key words: Mobile app, design and development, mobile learning, mathematics education, learning outcomes.

Evaluation of Cognitive Domain in Objective Exam of Physiotherapy Teaching Program by Using Bloom's Taxonomy

Abstract Objective For the development and growth in conceptual understanding of education, evaluation is one of the key factors of it. Improving a student's cognitive level is highly dependent upon the questions being asked in exams. The primary aim of this study is to analyze the cognitive level of physiotherapy exam papers using Bloom's taxonomy. Material and Methods The study was performed in a Private Medical University, Doctor of Physical Therapy Program in all 5 years of mid-term examination of 2019. One thousand and eighty multiple-choice questions were evaluated on revised Bloom's taxonomy of cognitive domain. Results It was found that most lower order cognitive questions were asked from first- and second-year students, whereas third- to fifth-year students were asked higher order cognitive questions ranging from 27.5 to 38%. Conclusion The examination analyzed the efficacy of education being provided. It helped in finding the subject content that needs greater emphasis and clarification. The faculty should give consideration on higher order cognitive level questions to encourage critical thinking among students and the medical colleges should develop the policy on construction of question papers according to the goal of each study year.

Management methods of college students in the new era based on the theory of educational cognition

With the continuous development and progress of society, the reform of higher education is gradually unfolding, and colleges and universities are responsible for the development of education. From the perspective of students' cognition, understanding the law of the occurrence and development of students' cognition is conducive to change the traditional rigid management mode to the development of flexible management mode. In addition, it also meets the requirements of student management to take into account students' cognitive and human needs, and provides guidance for student management in the new era, and enriches the theoretical basis of student management. Based on the educational cognitive theory, this paper conducts a questionnaire survey on College Students' management, and uses SPSS software to analyze the survey data, so as to measure the satisfaction of various management work, and to study the influence of cognitive theory on the management mode of college students in the new period. In the process of design, the questionnaire focuses on students' self-cognition and social cognition, especially the cognition of "the other" in students' social cognition, that is, the cognition of student management work and the cognition of student management workers. The results of the questionnaire survey show that there is a difference between students’ self-perception and the cognition of others, and students’ cognitive characteristics determine how to manage students. Student management workers need to improve the role of “advisors, mentors and helpful friends”. The cognitive characteristics of students determine the changes in student management. The cognitive needs of students determine the content of student management; the cognitive level of students accounts for 34% of the effectiveness of student management.

Problems and Countermeasures: Professional Cognition of Ideological and Political Education Major Students

The cognitive level of students majoring in ideological and political education directly reflects the construction of ideological and political education and the quality of personnel training, which is an important basis for further promoting the development of ideological and political education. From the dimensions of channel, degree, and behavior of cognition of ideological and political education major, we know that students of ideological and political education major have some problems in professional cognition, such as low starting point of cognition, low degree of cognition, single-channel of cognition, etc. We also try to strengthen the professional cognition of students of ideological and political education major from the aspects of correcting professional attitude, improving professional interest, strengthening professional cognition education, strengthening professional construction, personnel training and ideological guidance, etc., and further enhance professional identity, so as to better promote the construction and development of ideological and political education major.

FORMALIZING STUDENTS’ KNOWLEDGE SYSTEMS WITH BLOOM’S GOALS

The article is devoted to the application of Bloom taxonomy in education according to the current new content of education. The nature and advantages of using Bloom’s goals in higher education are considered. The important aspects of the goals for students were identified which are indicated in the technology, such as knowledge, understanding, application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation. The practical effectiveness of lectures and seminars on the course was revealed in the view of the above-mentioned goals. The study which was carried out in accordance with such principles as, scientific, systematic, consistency, consciousness and visibility was also noted in the purpose of the versatile development of students and how it affected the educational and cognitive level of students. It is revealed that in general the complex application of Bloom’s goals in teaching of theoretical and methodological problems gives certain results. It is also concluded that we can use them not only to form theoretical knowledge of students, but also to contribute to the discovery of creative potential.

Kesiapan Mahasiswa Kesehatan terhadap Penerapan Pendidikan Interprofesional di Indonesia

Background: Interprofessional education (IPE) is important to create effective interprofessional collaboration also improve quality of health care. Student readiness and perception of IPE will influence the implementation of IPE. This study aimed to analyze an overview, factors that influence and obstacles related to students' readiness and perception of the application of IPE in Indonesia. Methods: Literature reviews with multi-step literature searched on IPE from online databases such as ProQuest; ScienceDirect; SpringerLink and Google scholars by applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Samples of 8 studies met the criteria and then analyzed for the study. Results: Most of students have a positive perception and readiness for IPE. Factors influencing students' readiness and perception such as motivation; study program options; student cognitive level; culture; initial clinical experience / exposure; IPE experience in the curriculum; and the readiness of lectures. Conclusion: It is necessary to find a solution in anticipating obstacles in encouraging students' readiness and perception of the application of IPE in Indonesia, including unclear role constraints (role blurring) and the stigma of feeling inferior compared to other health professions.

BYOD Supported Multimodal Classroom Interaction

Classroom is an exclusive place of face to face interaction, where learning takes place primarily in a broadcast mode and knowledge is transferred from teacher to students in a one to many face to face interaction manner. Significantly during this interaction, different cognitive level of students are assembled together. Because of variation in intellectual levels of students, some students can grab the lecture very quickly while others may lag. Therefore, systematic interaction in classroom is very essential at present context where there are large number of learning alternatives available and importance of classroom may be misunderstood by students. The development and usage of different technologies for teaching and learning in last few years have grown exponentially whereas no such advancements in case of classroom interactions. This work is an emphasis on exploring BYOD systems which include mobile phones, tablets, laptops etc as a cost effective interaction tool in face to face learning. A Multilayer interaction was used where a teacher can get a feedback from the students as well as students can express their doubts in non-verbal manner. It was tried to put emphasis on human natural interaction ability and expressions, not revealing ones personal doubts in public as well as removing the stigma of public hand raising. Non-verbal interaction in term of screen tapping and feedback are combined together to find the comfortable interaction between the teachers and students. It is found use of mobile devices is a cost effective system that students are more active and engaged on in interacting in teaching learning activity in traditional classroom pedagogy. Overall this work is an effort to increase the pleasure level of students, by allowing them to participate in an active formative class room interaction and the classroom can be extended as an augmented layer for teacher to have an insight in to an individual students.

Refuting the OECD-World Bank development narrative: was East Asia’s ‘Economic Miracle’ primarily driven by education quality and cognitive skills?

ABSTRACTFounded on several highly influential quantitative studies, the past decade has witnessed the OECD and World Bank increasingly converge on the view that cognitive levels of students and education quality, as proxied by international large-scale assessments (ILSAs), are the primary determinant of national economic growth worldwide. More recent OECD and World Bank pronouncements have further suggested these dynamics are clearly illustrated in East Asia’s education and ‘Economic Miracle’, in particular the cases of South Korea and Singapore. Herein we utilise the OECD’s own data to examine this new development narrative, finding little evidence in support of these claims.

Factors of Skipping Breakfast and Association between Skipping Breakfast and Academic Achievement of Nursing Students

Background: Breakfast eating is related with good outcomes in terms of health. Skipping of breakfast is usually found in adolescents, but research findings on the effects of breakfast skipping on academic performance are scarce. The current study investigated the relation between breakfast skipping and academic performance of nursing students. Aims & Objective: To identify the factors associated with breakfast skipping and assess the academic achievement and to find association between breakfast skipping and academic performance Materials and Method: Cross-sectional survey was done among 527 nursing students. Demographic data of the subjects, and data related to factors for skipping breakfast was collected. Sessional grades of two exams were collected. Immediate visual memory and focus test was conducted via tool designed by researchers. Results: The results revealed, majority of the students 215 (40.7%) lack of time was the major reason to skip breakfast. Most of the 522 (99.1%) students scored good in the immediate visual memory (IMV) test and 500 (94.9 %) scored well in the focus test. No significant association (χ² (3) = 1.902, p = 0.595) was found between breakfast skipping and academic performance. Conclusion: Breakfast is generally accepted to be the most important meal of the day and students should eat breakfast regularly especially when they are going to hospitals. As per the data findings, no association was found between skipping of breakfast and academic achievements. Thus, the study indicates that breakfast skipping does not affect academic achievement but in a longer run it might affect the cognitive levels of students if regularly skipped.
