Analyzing the Impact of ESP Teaching Models on Enhancing Non-English Majors’ English Application Skills

Abstract The development of globalization has led to the rising demand of society and enterprises for the English application ability of students in colleges and universities, and the enhancement of the English application ability of non-English majors has become the key research direction of English teaching in colleges and universities under this trend. In this paper, we study this issue, highlighting the urgency of innovating the English teaching mode for non-English majors through the current situation of the passing rate of the English application ability examination and the main problems of the cultivation of English application ability of non-English majors. Gray correlation analysis is used to study the correlation between the English teaching mode, job requirements and other factors and the English application ability of non-English majors to provide data support for the introduction of ESP teaching mode. The ESP teaching mode is proposed, the teaching experiment is designed, and the results of the experimental and control classes are tested before and after participating in the experiment to assess the role of the ESP teaching mode in improving the English application ability of non-English majors as well. In the study of students’ satisfaction with the teaching of application abilities under the ESP mode, the overall satisfaction is high. Non-English majors are rated 11.87% more satisfied with the teaching effect under the ESP teaching model than English majors.

With the development of big data technology, it has become a trend to analyze students’ behavioral data to promote teachers’ precision teaching. In this context, this study cooperates with a senior high school geography teacher in Changsha City, Hunan Province, collects the students’ examination data from 2020 to 2021 academic year with the help of Zhixue.com, divides the students into four groups according to the examination results, and takes regional geography knowledge as an example to analyze the weak knowledge points, discipline core literacy and practical application ability of students at all levels. Based on the analysis results, the improvement strategies of teachers’ subsequent precision teaching were proposed, including students’ stratification should be carried out according to daily performance and examination results; The weak knowledge points of students of different grades overlap and differ, so teachers should carry out targeted teaching for students of different grades. At the same time, the multi-level teaching method should be improved to enhance students’ discipline core literacy. Pay attention to contact life reality, enhance students’ practical application ability.

Over the years, the author has known more than 30 adult colleges and universities in various regions and more than 20 enterprises, institutions of employment standards, found that the school training students and the current social needs of the talent standards there is a large contrast. Therefore, it is imperative to reform the teaching method and curriculum setting of foreign-related secretarial major.

Purpose: The new deal project for urban regeneration is actively carried out nationwide. At this point, a new local government-university-linked urban regeneration program was implemented, in which local residents and local university students participate together to enhance the satisfaction of the residents and the performance of the class, while at the same time enhancing the field application ability of students majoring in university architecture. Method: A studio-type village architecture school consisting of residents and students was conducted. The students participated both as students and assistant instructors, coordinated residents" opinions on urban regeneration and visualized their ideas. A survey was conducted on participants to verify the effectiveness of the program. Result: Residents who participated in the school responded that the class management and their achievements were highly satisfied, and among them, the collaboration with university students was most contented. In addition, from the level of knowing the concept of urban regeneration only before education, residents were able to establish specific plans with the vision for urban regeneration in their own village after education. Participating students became aware of the the importance of the coordinator"s role and the difference between theory and practice through the class.

Research on Blended Learning Mode Based on the Course of Engine Principle

This article deals with the problem of low participation of students as well as their poor understanding in the course of “Engine Principle”. In this paper, the current situation and characteristics of the curriculum are analyzed. With the advantages of MOOC, the authors tend to explore blended learning model, which is composed of online knowledge obtaining and offline flipped class. The design and practice of the model is implemented in three aspects: teaching contents, class organization and assessment. We recorded teaching videos and related course materials based on knowledge points and uploaded them to the Mooc platform. Tests run through the whole training process in each stage in order to evaluate the effect of blended learning mode. This blended learning model has balanced traditional teaching and modern teaching advantage. Furthermore, the ability of students to put what they have learned into practice and the ability to innovate has been promoted. With the blended learning mode based on MOOC, it is a better way to solve the problems of low participation and poor understanding and application ability of students in the current teaching.

Using Enhanced Podcasts to Augment Limited Instructional Time in Teacher Preparation

Teacher education programs are limited in terms of available face-to-face instructional time for preparing general education teacher candidates to work with students with exceptionalities. Given this constraint, developing innovative use of technologies may assist in meeting the demand for highly qualified teachers for such students. In this research study, enhanced podcasts (images displayed in time with audio) were produced using Mayer’s cognitive theory of multimedia learning to deliver selected uncovered course content. Two randomly assigned groups of undergraduate teacher education candidates interacted with either audio podcasts or enhanced podcasts across two experiments. Researchers measured recall and higher order application ability of students to determine which podcast method resulted in higher scores. Participants interacting with the enhanced podcasts outperformed their audio-only counterparts on three of four measures of recall and application. Implications for teacher education programming regarding how to better prepare general education teachers to meet the needs of students with disabilities by utilizing this type of technology will be described.
