Abstract

Purpose: The new deal project for urban regeneration is actively carried out nationwide. At this point, a new local government-university-linked urban regeneration program was implemented, in which local residents and local university students participate together to enhance the satisfaction of the residents and the performance of the class, while at the same time enhancing the field application ability of students majoring in university architecture. Method: A studio-type village architecture school consisting of residents and students was conducted. The students participated both as students and assistant instructors, coordinated residents" opinions on urban regeneration and visualized their ideas. A survey was conducted on participants to verify the effectiveness of the program. Result: Residents who participated in the school responded that the class management and their achievements were highly satisfied, and among them, the collaboration with university students was most contented. In addition, from the level of knowing the concept of urban regeneration only before education, residents were able to establish specific plans with the vision for urban regeneration in their own village after education. Participating students became aware of the the importance of the coordinator"s role and the difference between theory and practice through the class.
