Training Path of Computer Application Ability and Computational Thinking of Normal University Students under the Background of Teacher Professional Certification

Since the implementation of teacher professional certification, it has effectively promoted the construction of hardware and software of normal major in colleges and universities, especially the construction of modern smart classroom, interactive microclassroom, online teaching case base, multimedia computer room, VR virtual laboratory, etc., which provides the basic guarantee for the improvement of information technology ability of normal students. The cultivation of computer application ability and computational thinking is the essential core quality of “four good teachers” in the information age. Through the interpretation of “certification standards”, the paper analyzes the current situation of normal university students’ computer application ability, and probes into how to cultivate normal university students’ computer application ability and computational thinking under the background of normal professional certification.

The effect of problem-based learning on improving problem-solving, self-directed learning, and critical thinking ability for the pharmacy students: A randomized controlled trial and meta-analysis.

This study aimed to comprehensively evaluate the effect of PBL on problem-solving, self-directed learning, and critical thinking ability of pharmaceutical students through a randomized controlled trial (RCT) and meta-analysis of RCTs. In 2021, 57 third-year pharmacy students from China Pharmaceutical University were randomly divided into a PBL group and a lecture-based learning (LBL) group. Mean scores were compared between the two groups for problem-solving, self-directed learning, communication skills, critical thinking, and final exam grades. Students' feedback on the implementation of PBL was also collected. A meta-analysis was subsequently performed. Two authors independently conducted a comprehensive search of two databases (PubMed and CNKI). Eligible studies with effective data were included and the valuable data were extracted for analysis. Quality of involved studies was assessed by the Cochrane Collaboration's tool. All analyses of statistics were conducted using the 'metafor' package in R software. The PBL group had significantly higher mean scores for problem-solving (8.43±1.56) and self-directed learning (7.39±1.19) than the LBL group (7.02±1.72 and 6.41±1.28, respectively). The PBL group also showed better communication skills (8.86±1.47) than the LBL group (7.68±1.89). The mean level of critical thinking was significantly higher in the PBL group than the LBL group (p = 0.02). The PBL group also had better final exam grades (79.86±1.38) compared to the LBL group (68.1±1.76). Student feedback on PBL implementation was positive. The outcome of subsequent meta-analysis including 8 eligible studies involved 1819 participants showed that the use of PBL significantly improved problem-solving ability (SMD = 1.12, 95% CI = 0.25-1.99) and PBL was also associated with better performance in self-directed learning (SMD = 1.55, 95% CI = 0.64-2.45). However, there was no significant difference in the final exam score in the PBL group compared to the LBL control group (SMD = 0.23, 95% CI = -0.08-0.53). This study found that PBL is an effective teaching method for pharmacy students.

The low levels of critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes in the science curriculum of class V at SDN Lokrawa Barito Kuala are the study's main concerns. This is because learning in the classroom is still primarily focused on the teacher, which discourages students from speaking up for what they think is right, does not offer learning exercises that encourage critical thinking, puts students in a passive role when solving problems, and results in a lack of comprehension of the subject matter. This may be the best course of action using the paradigms of group research, problem-based learning, and SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visual, and Intellectual). Action research in the classroom is used in this study (PTK). This class action research study aims to demonstrate the enhancements in student learning outcomes and critical thinking abilities. Exams for individual evaluation are utilized to gauge the learning objectives of students, and observation sheets are employed to gather data on the critical thinking and action abilities of both teachers and students. The study's findings demonstrated that, at meeting 4, the pupils' and teacher's traditional activity met both the very good and the extremely active requirements. At meeting 4, 93% of the students' learning objectives and critical thinking abilities were satisfied in a conventional way. These findings imply that the application of group investigation models, problem-based learning, and SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visual, Intellectual) might enhance students' learning outcomes in science courses as well as teachers' and students' critical thinking abilities.

Implementation of Science and Engineering Practices in Physics Practicum: Evaluation of Readiness, Implementation, and Outcomes

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Science and Engineering Practices (SEP) in physics practicum activities, focusing on three main aspects: readiness, implementation, and student results. This study used a quantitative descriptive approach through structured observation data collection of Physics classes. The aspects assessed included the readiness of practicum equipment and materials, the effectiveness of the division of tasks in the group, the active involvement of students, the application of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) method, and the ability of students to apply SEP, including experimental design, data collection and analysis, physics model making, and preparation of practicum report results. The results showed that implementing the physics practicum in the Good category had an average score of 76.2. The application of SEP, especially in the use of technology and the ability to work together, also contributed significantly to the effectiveness of the practicum. This finding confirms the importance of strengthening science and engineering practices in physics practicum learning and its implications for the development of students' scientific and technical skills.

Teaching at the Right Level Approach in Problem-Based Learning Design

Community Service (known with PkM) activities were carried out by providing training to teachers in North West Seram District, Central Maluku Regency. This activity aims to provide insight into the development of teacher professionalism, more specifically how deep the application of Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) in learning activities in schools. The activity was carried out through direct face-to-face meetings with teachers. The results of this service are known that teachers gain a lot of knowledge about strategies for connecting learning with a cultural background and referring to the level of student ability. In addition, more than 100 teachers were satisfied with the activities carried out, which were based on the level of student knowledge with the TaRL approach using the problem-based learning model. The teachers hope that the PkM Team can continue to provide assistance so that the implementation of learning activities in the classroom can run well. This is because TaRL is a new method for teachers in remote areas so that it requires adjustments in implementation in learning

The Use of SQ3R Technique to Improve Reading Ability at Tenth-Grade Students of MA Thohir Yasin

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the SQ3R technique in improving the reading ability of tenth-grade students at MA Thohir Yasin, with a focus on measuring reading skills before and after the implementation of the technique. A pre-experimental design using one group pre-test and post-tests was used in this study. The sample of this study was the X2 class which consisted of 20 students. The Data were collected from students’ pre-tests and post-tests using a questionnaire. The data were analyzed by using SPSS version 22 for Windows. After submitting the data to a paired sample t-test, it was found that there was a significant difference in the mean score between the pre-test and the post-test, t(df=19) = -11,258 at p=0.000 which meant that the alternative hypothesis was accepted and the null hypothesis was rejected. Thus, technique SQ3R significantly improved the reading ability of tenth-grade students of MA Thohir Yasin. Based on the research findings, the SQ3R technique has been shown to considerably increase students' reading skills, therefore English teachers should incorporate this technique into their reading education.

THE INFLUENCE OF CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE TEACHING ON THE CRITICAL THINKING ABILITY IN GRADE IV STUDENTS OF MIS YMPI TANJUNG BALAI

This study aims to determine the influence of the culturally responsive teaching (CRT) approach on the critical thinking ability of fourth grade students in theme 8, subtheme 2, lesson 3 at MIS YMPI Tanjung Balai for the 2022/2023 academic year. This research uses a quasi experimental method, divided into an experimental group and a control group. The population and sample consist of 44 students with class IV A as the experimental class (21 students) and clas IV B as the control class (23 students). The data collection technique used is a critical thinking skills test, adapted to the students cognitive level according to Bloom’s Taxonomy (C4-C6). The data analysis technique employed is the independent sample t-test to determine whether there is an effect of using the culturally responsive teaching (CRT) approach on students critical thinking ability. Based on the research results, the average score for the experimental class was 81,13 while the control class average 65,40 as evidenced by the students post test results. Hypothesis testing showed a Sig. (2-tailed) result of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that Ha is accepted, and H0 is rejected. This means that there is a significant influence of culturally responsive teaching (CRT) on the critical thinking ability of fourth grade students at MIS YMPI Tanjung Balai.

Influence of Spatial Ability on Students' Mathematical Representation Ability in the Spatial Geometry Course

This research aims to 1) Determine the spatial mathematical abilities of students in the spatial geometry course, 2) Understand the mathematical representation ability of students in the spatial geometry course, and 3) determine the influence of spatial ability on students' mathematical representation ability in the spatial geometry course. The research method uses a quantitative method with a one-shot case study research design. The research population is all students of the Department of Mathematics of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon who take the spatial geometry course in the odd semester of the 2024/2025 Academic Year, which consists of 3 classes: A, B, and C. The research sample was selected from 30 students from the research population using a simple random sampling technique. The data collection technique uses tests to determine students' spatial mathematical ability and mathematical representation ability. The results of the study showed that: 1) the student's mathematical spatial ability in the spatial geometry course averaged 77.23, included in the strong category; 2) students' mathematical representation ability in the spatial geometry course averaged 82.77, included in the strong category; and 3) mathematical spatial ability has a significant effect on students' mathematical representation ability in the spatial geometry course. Mathematical spatial ability has a 67% influences on students' mathematical representation ability in spatial geometry courses.

The Effect of the Application of the Problem-Based Learning Model on Communication Problem Solving Ability in Students of the Communication Study Program FISIP UNAS Jakarta

Problem-based Learning (PBL) is a learning method where students are faced with problems that exist in society in real life, to then be used as a trigger in learning. PBL is seen as more effective than the conventional curriculum, which only relies on lectures and practicums. Learning activities in PBL include expert lectures, discussions in small groups, practicum in the laboratory, and clinical skills practicum. Through this activity, it is hoped that students can achieve satisfactory learning achievements, considering that the concept carried by this system is so ideal. Problembased learningg is learning with an approach oriented to a constructivistic view that contains contextual characteristics, collaborative, metacognitive thinking, and facilitates problem solving. Students are able to learn meaningfully that can develop higher-order thinking skills through problem solving. Through this learning, it is hoped that it can increase understanding of meaning, increase independence, increase the development of higher-level thinking skills, increase motivation, facilitate relationships between students and improve skills in building teamwork when solving problems and finding solutions. The design of this study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method through the distribution of questionnaires to communication students of the Communication Psychology course. The results of the research can be used as reference to universities, especially the Communication Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, UNAS Jakarta, to implement The problem-based learning model plays an active role in the learning process, especially in this independent curriculum.

Design of an Expert System for Student Learning Assessment

An expert system has been designed to assess student learning in a manner that aligns with each student's ability level independently, based on modern measurement theory. This approach effectively measures students' actual knowledge levels and is essential for developing assessment tools, which are a cornerstone of education. The expert system records student’s data and interactions, determining the questions to be used to measure their cognitive level based on the obtained responses. Application results demonstrated the impact of the expert system for this type of measurement, providing ability estimates for students comparable to those from traditional tests.

AUTHENTIC ASSESSMENT IN ACTION: ENGLISH TEACHERS’ PERCEPTION AND PRACTICES FOR ASSESSING STUDENTS’ PRODUCTIVE SKILLS AT SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

This study explores how English teachers’ perceptions and practices of authentic assessment for assessing students’ productive skills at Senior High School 2 Kuta. Using Qualitative research aims to explore in-depth information on various responses. This research is the result of expressing a person's various thoughts about a topic (McCarthy, 2017). The result revealed teachers believe that the design and implementation of authentic assessments are critical for effectively improving students' productive skills and that these assessments should fit with the Merdeka Curriculum's learning objectives. Teachers acknowledge that authentic assessments have a beneficial impact on student's ability to apply skills in real-life circumstances, and they emphasize the importance of planning and implementation in achieving good assessment outcomes.

Investigating pre-registration podiatry students approaches to identifying dermatology conditions in different skin tones: A mixed methods protocol.

Health inequalities are a well-known and widespread phenomenon throughout health care settings. In particular, people of color experience higher rates of delayed and/or misdiagnosis contributing to poorer outcomes and an increased mortality risk. Research suggests that health care professionals find it more difficult to correctly diagnose dermatological conditions in the non-White patient demographic. Although podiatrists routinely examine and assess skin lesions, there is a paucity of research exploring their accuracy or confidence in recognizing skin pathologies. This study aims to investigate podiatry student's ability, confidence, approaches, and perceptions in diagnosing dermatology pathologies in different skin tones. A mixed methods exploratory sequential design is proposed. In stage one, podiatry students from different higher education institutions will be invited to complete a pictorial survey. We have designed a survey comprising six validated images of inflammatory skin pathology (either eczema or psoriasis) in three different skin tone categories, standardized using the Fitzpatrick scale. Data from the survey in stage one will then be utilized to inform the next stage of the research. In stage two, respondents who completed the initial survey will be invited to participate in focus groups to explore their perceptions surrounding diagnostic approaches, confidence, and perceptions of skin conditions in different skin tone. A process of thematic analysis will be employed to identify emergent themes from these data. A mixed methods exploratory sequential design is proposed. Multi-dimensional Path Exploration of Artificial Intelligence Empowering Postgraduate Research Ability Improvement

The application of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the field of graduate research is becoming more and more common, which has brought unprecedented opportunities and challenges for the enhancement of graduate research ability. The purpose of this study is to deeply analyze the multiple mechanisms of artificial intelligence promoting the improvement of graduate students' scientific research ability. Firstly, this paper systematically analyzed the theoretical foundation of artificial intelligence in graduate research, covering the application of core algorithms such as machine learning and deep learning in scientific research practice, as well as the mechanism of the integration of artificial intelligence and scientific research, including the potential of interdisciplinary cooperation, the challenges encountered in the integration process and their coping strategies. Then the application examples of artificial intelligence in graduate research practice are expounded, including but not limited to the key links of literature search and analysis, experiment design and data analysis. Then, from the two dimensions of cultivating innovative thinking and improving learning autonomy, how artificial intelligence can help improve graduate students' scientific research ability is discussed. It is believed that artificial intelligence plays an important role in generating new hypotheses, stimulating creativity, breaking through traditional thinking patterns, generating personalized learning resources, and assisting group discussion. In summary, artificial intelligence plays a vital role in improving the scientific research ability of graduate students, and provides strong technical support and innovation motivation for graduate students' scientific research work.

Researching the Use of L1 (Chinese) in Junior EFL Classes in China (Focusing on Listening Tasks)

This article studied the influence of using L1 in junior high school English classes. Two teachers and five students from a public middle school in China were interviewed. Through communication with them, the author found that neither teachers nor students pay as much attention to listening teaching as grammar reading. The two teachers the author interviewed have different ideas about using L1 in English class according to their own teaching experience. But their ultimate goal is to improve students' English scores and abilities. Students agree with the teacher's rational use of L1 in class. They also put forward some advantages of using L1. However, the listening teaching is mainly based on the teacher's requirements, and the main task is to complete the listening training questions. Only one student suggested that if English-based teaching environment can help them improve their English listening level and other abilities.

Особливості психологічного благополуччя молодших школярів з різними рівнями сприйнятого стресу

The article analyzes the peculiarities of the relationship between the psychological well-being of primary school students and the levels of their perceived stress. The relevance of the research is substantiated, which is due to the expediency of researching the level of perceived stress by primary school students as a significant indicator of their life satisfaction and, as a result, psychological well-being. An analysis of the results of an empirical study of the psychological well-being of elementary school students with different levels of perceived stress is presented, according to which, in particular, it was established that a significant number of primary school students are characterized by an average and high level of such stress, which can negatively affect children's health and their experience of social support This is indirectly evidenced by the differences in the levels of perceived stress depending on the number of children in the families of the studied elementary school students. At the same time, data analysis shows the peculiarities of perceived stress depending on the belonging of primary school students to a new social group, namely internally displaced persons (IDPs), which is associated with their relocation in war conditions, and the modality of relationships in children's families. The results of a study of the levels of perceived stress depending on the gender of primary school students are presented, the analysis of which allowed us to assume the influence of gender stereotypes on the perception of stress. According to the results of variance analysis, statistically significant differences were found in the features of the psychological well-being of primary school students with different levels of perceived stress. As an indicator of such well-being, the indicator of life satisfaction as such, which most closely corresponds to the age characteristics of primary school students, was used. As a result, the hypothesis about the inverse nature of the relationship between perceived stress and psychological well-being of the studied primary school students was confirmed. The expediency of developing and approving a program for developing the ability of primary school students and other participants in the educational process to master perceived stress as an important factor in their psychological well-being has been established

The Mediating Role of Generative AI Self-Regulation on Students’ Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving

Within the rapid integration of AI into educational settings, understanding its impact on essential cognitive skills is crucial for developing effective teaching strategies and improving student outcomes. This study examines the influence of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) on students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills in higher education. Our research specifically investigates how the perceived ease of use, usefulness, and learning value of GenAI tools might influence students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and whether self-regulation serves as a mediator in this relationship. Utilising a quantitative approach, we surveyed 223 students and analysed their responses using a structural equation modelling method. The results reveal that the ease of use of GenAI significantly enhances self-regulation, which in turn positively impacts both the critical thinking and problem-solving abilities of students. However, the perceived usefulness and learning value of GenAI were not found to significantly influence these skills through self-regulation. These findings suggest that, while AI tools can offer an environment conducive to developing higher-order cognitive skills, this might not necessarily translate to the enhancement of students’ skills. This research contributes to the ongoing literature on the role of technology in education by highlighting the importance of designing GenAI tools that support self-regulated learning. Furthermore, it calls for educators and developers to focus not just on the functionality of AI, but also on how these tools can be integrated into curricula to effectively support critical thinking and problem-solving. The practical implications of our research highlight the need for AI tools that are user-friendly and aligned with educational goals, enhancing their adoption and effectiveness in improving student outcomes. It is crucial for educators to integrate strategies that promote self-regulation within AI-enhanced learning environments to maximise their impact on student learning.

Excursion quest as a tool for developing socio-cultural competence of foreign students

The article is devoted to revealing the features of quest technology in the educational process, conducting a “live” excursion quest for the development of sociocultural competence of foreign students.The relevance of the study lies in the need to study the features of creating and conducting excursion quests in the preparation of foreign students.The purpose of the study is to consider the features of conducting a “live” excursion quest in a foreign audience, to analyze the effectiveness of integrating such a quest into the educational process as a tool for developing sociocultural competence at the pre-university stage. In accordance with the stated purpose of the study, the following tasks are identified: developing a “live” quest as part of a museum excursion; conducting a test to determine the degree of effectiveness of integrating the quest into the educational process.The development and testing of the quest was carried out on the basis of Southwest State University as part of teaching Russian as a foreign language at the pre-university stage.During the research process, theoretical, empirical, pedagogical methods were used, such as analysis and synthesis of scientific literature, descriptive method when disclosing the content of the developed excursion quest, and a statistical method when determining the level of formation of students’ socio-cultural knowledge.The research material was a developed excursion quest designed to work with foreign citizens as part of a visit to the city’s local history museum at the stage of pre-university preparation.An excursion quest is a promising technology for achieving educational goals when teaching foreign citizens. Quest technology updates the language knowledge, communication skills and abilities of students, while stimulating their cognitive activity and developing such important personality qualities as intelligence, attentiveness, and independence. Sociocultural competence is an integral part of foreign language communicative competence, and a “live” excursion quest, used within the framework of linguoeducation in a foreign audience, is capable, with careful preparation, of effectively introducing foreign speakers to the culture of the country in the context of real urban space, expanding their knowledge of culturally oriented vocabulary, and emphasizing the importance of sociocultural observation.

Pengaruh Pemanfaatan Media Video Youtube Terhadap Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Siswa pada Mata Pelajaran Informatika Kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Painan

Critical thinking in informatics learning is an important competency that needs to be developed in students. This study aims to investigate the effect of the use of YouTube video media on the improvement of critical thinking skills of grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Painan. Through a quantitative approach with an experimental design, this study compares the critical thinking skills of students who receive learning with YouTube video media (experimental class) with students who receive conventional learning (control class). The research sample was taken at a simple random rate from the student population of grade VIII, namely class VIII.6 (experimental class) and class VIII.4 (control class). Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire that had been validated, consisting of 26 statements to measure critical thinking skills. Data analysis was carried out in two stages, namely descriptive analysis to describe data characteristics and inferential analysis using a t-test to test the average difference in critical thinking skills between the two groups. The results showed that the average score of critical thinking ability of students in the experimental class (95.56) was significantly higher than that of the control class (87.36) with a significance value of 0.001. This indicates that the use of YouTube video media is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills in informatics subjects

Analysis of Students Creative Thinking Abilities on the Topic of Energy in Living Systems

Creative thinking is a habit of sharp thinking with intuition, moving the imagination, revealing new possibilities, uncovering unique ideas, and inspiring unexpected ideas. Based on fluency, flexibility, and originality, this research aims to describe students' creative thinking abilities regarding energy material in class VII life systems at SMP Negeri 1 Tapa. This research type is descriptive qualitative research. The instrument used is a 10-number essay test whose validity has been tested. The sample used in this research was 30 students. The results of research on creative thinking abilities on energy materials in living systems are in the fluency aspect of 55.83% in the enough creative category, the flexibility aspect of 67.5% in the creative category, and the originality aspect of 52.5% in the enough creative category. This shows that the low ability to think creatively is due to students' need to understand the creative thinking ability test and students' unfamiliarity with creative thinking. Students are expected to be able to practice working on questions that can hone creative thinking skills and can use the results of this research as a reference for further research related to creative thinking skills.

Reflexivity and the ability to predict activities as the basis for future professional personality formation

In the context of dynamic transformations in all spheres of activity, the particular importance of professional’s abilities for reflexive and prognostic activity in adapting to new challenges is obvious. Future professionals need the ability to solve non-standard tasks, cope with emerging problems, control their own actions, readiness for objective assessment of work results, self-education and professional development. The aim of the research is to define the essence and content of the reflective and prognostic abilities of an individual, their significance in professional activity, as well as to identify the level of development of these qualities among university students in psychological-pedagogical and technical fields of study, and to outline the conditions for their productive development. The authors carried out a theoretical analysis of the definitions of «reflexivity» and «forecasting», reflected in numerous psychological and pedagogical studies of interdisciplinary focus by scientists from different countries. The relationship between reflexive and prognostic abilities with self-regulation of behavior and activity of an individual, their adaptation and professionalization were revealed. Diagnostics were conducted to determine the level of reflexivity (suggested by A.V. Karpov, V.V. Ponomareva) and the prediction ability (suggested by L.A. Regush) among first-year students of the psychological and pedagogical fields of study at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and the technical field at Samara State Technical University. The results of psychodiagnostics of reflexive and predictive abilities of students are presented and indicate an insufficient level of predisposition to retrospective, situational, prospective reflection and forecasting. However, the implementation of an integrated approach in classroom and extracurricular training, the use of intensive pedagogical technologies (practice-oriented, heuristic, informational) in the educational process, the problem solving techniques and test material developed on the basis of the matrix model of cognitive activity during intermediate monitoring showed positive dynamics in the increase of the level of development of reflexive and predictive student abilities.
