Application of Chain Writing Method to Improve Short Story Writing Skills in Grade VIII Students of SMP Negeri 16 Cimahi

This research aims to reveal the improvement in learning outcomes of short story texts using picture story books in class VIII students at SMP Negeri 16 Cimahi. The problem of this research is related to the use of the chain writing method in learning short story texts in class VIII of SMP Negeri 16 Cimahi. The research method used in this research is PTK (Classroom Action Research) or CAR (Classroom Action Research). Classroom Action Research is carried out in four stages, namely planning, implementing actions, observing and reflecting. This research was carried out at FFF Middle School, data collection techniques were carried out through direct observation in the classroom while teaching and learning activities were taking place. The results of the research show that there is an increase in student learning outcomes in learning short story texts using the chain fifth method. This is shown by an increase in the number of 31 students who took part in cycle I and cycle II. Each cycle experiences an increase in the pretest and posttest results. The increase in cycle I reached 19.35% and the increase in cycle II reached 51.3%. This increase made the writer feel that it was sufficient so that he did not continue with cycle III. In this way, the author concludes that picture story book media can improve the activities and learning outcomes of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 16 Cimahi.

Penerapan Media Audio Visual Sebagai Upaya Meningkatkan Kemampuan Berbahasa Anak Usia Dini Melalui Metode Bercerita

The problem in this research is that children's low self-confidence in telling stories is due to limited mastery of vocabulary so that children do not dare to appear in front of the class, as well as the stories in books being too long so that children are bored and unable to retell them. The aim of the research is to improve the language skills of young children through the storytelling method. This research was carried out at the Ar-Raudhah Islamic Kindergarten using PTK with the research subjects being 10 children in group A of the Ar-Raudhah Islamic Kindergarten. Data collection techniques in this research are interviews, observations and documentation using descriptive analysis techniques. Data analysis techniques by examining every aspect of research activities at the time the research was carried out and analyzed properly. Based on the results of the last research cycle I, it was found that 4 children did not understand how to tell stories, 4 children (40%) received a score of not yet developed, 4 children (40%) are starting to develop, and 2 children (20%) are developing according to expectations and no child is developing very well. On the third day of Cycle II, the children were very enthusiastic about telling stories using audio-visual media, 8 children were able to tell stories very well. 0 children (0%) received a score of Not Yet Developing, 1 child (10%) Starting to Develop, 1 child (10%) Developing as Expected and 8 children (80%) Developing Very Well. Based on research results, children's language skills through the storytelling method have increased. Using audio-visual media can attract children's attention so that it can increase children's enthusiasm for telling stories and children's mastery of vocabulary and language skills will progress.

Implementasi Literasi Baca Tulis Siswa Kelas Rendah Di Sekolah Dasar

The purpose of this research is to describe the implementation of literacy reading and writing students of class I in the Basic State School 2 Banjar Tegal, Buleleng district, buleleng-Bali. The research approach is qualitative research with the type of phenomenological research. This research data is a description of implementation the literature reading and written students of grade I in Basic state school 2 Banjer Tegal. The research instruments used are interview guidelines and documentation. The results of the study show that the student's literacy is in the developmental phase. As for the teacher's efforts in developing literacy, the following are: 1) When literacy hours are carried out especially for students with low literacy levels, the teacher invites the student to read the story first from the teacher, whether it's a folk story book, fairy tale or fiction. Then the teacher guides the students to recount the story that has been read by the class teacher in their own language. In the course of recounting the story content, the professor invites students to learn to read some of the pronouns from the contents of the story which makes it difficult for students to read, 2) the teacher uses the media of literature board made of board covered with plates as a place to paste pictures, letters and tribes. With the literacy board media, teachers easily introduce letters and pronouncements to the student whom the teacher first puts a picture on the literation board.

Development of Math Stook: An Exploration of Math Stories for Elementary School Students

Research on the development of math story books for elementary school students still needs to be conducted further. Studies on the appropriate design, effectiveness, and effects on students' mathematical understanding are still limited, so more needs to be done. This research aims to develop Math Stook (Math Story Book) as a math learning media for elementary school students. The research method used is the RnD or Research and Development method with the ADDIE research model which consists of 5 stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Data were collected through observation and interviews. The validity of Math Stook was evaluated by a group of validators, including media design experts, learning material experts, and pretest and posttest question experts. The results showed that Math Stook was rated as highly valid by the validators. In addition, this study measured the level of math comprehension of grade III students before and after using Math Stook, showing a significant increase. Although the N-Gain value fell into the “medium” category, this study concluded that Math Stook was effective in improving students' mathematical understanding. Recommendations for future research include further exploration of the effect of Math Stook on students' math skills, development of a version tailored to students' needs, as well as the use of a combined approach between quantitative and qualitative methods to explore its impact.

Performing Homeric islands: Homeric receptions in (post-)Hellenistic Asia

Abstract This article presents critical interpretations of the Sophytos inscription in comparison with the K-pop song ‘Sugar Rush Ride’ within the context of the cultural politics of sugar production in modern colonialism. It posits that both pieces individually engage with discreet episodes concerning Homeric islands in the Odyssey: Odysseus’ lying about his Cretan background in book 14 and the lotus-eating story in book 9. Meanwhile, both refer to the Phaeacian episode in book 8. In doing so, this article not only underscores the significance of this Homeric epic as a rich mine from which people across different time periods and geographic areas (such as Kandahar and Korea) draw inspiration, but also contributes to a re-evaluation of the epistemic foundation of research on Hellenistic Central Asia and its legacy.

Peningkatan Hasil Belajar Siswa melalui Media Buku Cerita Bergambar pada Pembelajaran IPAS di SD Negeri Tamansari 1 Yogyakarta

This article is a development (R&D) with the 4D (Four-D) development model. This study aims to, explain the design of picture storybook media development in learning IPAS of grade V students of SD Negeri Tamansari Yogyakarta, explain the feasibility of picture storybook media development products in learning IPAS of grade V students of SD Negeri Tamansari 1 Yogyakarta, explain the learning outcomes of students by using picture storybook media in learning IPAS of grade V students of SD Negeri Tamansari 1 Yogyakarta. The research subjects were fifth grade students of Tamansari I Yogyakarta Elementary School with a total of 26 students. The object of this research is an illustrated storybook of IPAS subject CHAPTER 7 “My Region is My Pride”. The design process of developing picture storybooks is carried out with 4 stages, namely, the define stage, the design stage, the development stage, the disseminate stage. Feasibility assessment for IPAS subject picture storybook products “CHAPTER 7 My Regional Pride”, product feasibility assessment conducted by media experts, material experts, and class teachers. The use of learning media with picture storybooks gets a better class average than before using picture storybooks. picture story learning media is effective to be applied for elementary school student learning. Before using the average value of student learning outcomes 80.58 and after using picture story media has increased quite well, namely 86.54. This means that picture story books can improve student learning outcomes more effectively and well.

Analisis Keterampilan Berbicara Menggunakan Buku Cerita Bergambar pada Siswa Kelas Tinggi

This research aims to describe the speaking skills of high school students using picture story books. The method used in this research is literacy or literature review by collecting data sources relevant to the topic. The results of the research show that the use of picture story books as a learning medium has a significant impact on students' speaking abilities in high grades. Telling stories using picture books in peer groups can stimulate children's reasoning. Illustrations in storybooks are more effective in helping children understand the language and how it is conveyed compared to stories that only consist of text.

Developing Big Books to Improve Young Learners' Vocabulary Acquisition

Teaching vocabulary for EFL young learners always challenges the teacher. The researchers have investigated the condition of SD Islam Pojok 2 Kediri and found that the school only provided modules in the English class, so researchers aim to develop a medium called a big book. This study is research and development, adapted from Dick and Carey and modified by Sugiono into seven steps: need analysis, designing, expert validation, revision I, try-out, revision II, and evaluation. The researchers collected the data through observation, interview, and documentation, then analyzed it using content and narrative analysis techniques. The results of the study showed that there are four topics to assemble the big books, namely daily activity, jobs, tourism places, and food. The expert validation reveals that three big books have been eligible for use, and one needs to be revised. In the try-out process, it was found that the teacher and students liked the story and illustrations of the big books. It helps the students gain new vocabulary and strengthen their existing vocabulary. To sum up, developing big books to improve young learners’ vocabulary acquisition has been successful.

Young authors & the Anthropocene: what story books reveal about the place-ecological meaning constructed by schoolchildren of Chennai

This small study reveals the value of story writing as a pedagogical technique in environmental education. The qualitative research conducted in 2020 examines 14 Indian children’s place-ecological meaning as expressed in the story books they authored. Thematic analysis of the story books, interviews, journals, creative writing assignments & group discussion revealed that the children’s outdoor nature experiences shaped their place-ecological meaning and inspired a striking critique of the necropolitical-geontopolitical Anthropocene regime in local contexts. Children’s sense of marginalization forged empathy with the more-­than-human, fostering feelings collective identities and resistance, despite muted agency. The research emphasizes that environmental education program should not only build awareness and conscientization among participants but also provide opportunities for expression of meaning-making. The significance of the research lies in it bringing children’s voices to the fore as they attempt to examine the Anthropocene from their experiences of local ecologies and places in Chennai, India.

Magical Realism in Contemporary Indonesian Literature: An Exploration of the Value of Education in a Fantasy World

The purpose of this study is as an effort to interpret the short story Peminspin Gelap by Intan Pramataditha in the perspective of magical realism. The value of education is also present as one of the aspects studied because it can provide new knowledge for readers and is considered important to learn. The approach used is to use qualitative methods that focus on semiotics, content analysis, and hermeneutics. The source of the data was obtained from the main object of this study, namely the short story book Peminspin Gelap by Intan Paramaditha. Other data used to support this research relate to magical realism such as book references, some relevant research and electronic journals taken from the internet. Data collection is carried out by reading and recording techniques. The results of this research can be found data from the representation of magical realism in the short story Dark Spinner by Intan Paramadhita. First, magical realism data was found based on the meanings and symbols of images on the cover of the short story anthology book Female Magic, and the cover of the short story Dark Spinner pen. Then, data were obtained from the analysis of story texts based on Wendy B. Faris's theory, namely: (1) irreducible elements were found two data; (2) the phenomenal world (Phenomenal World) found two data; (3) Unsettling doubt found four data; (4) Merging realms found one data. The Pushkin Myth in modern literature for children (based on the works of K. Strelnikova, M. Bershadskaya, Ai eN (Irina Krestyeva))

The article presents an understanding of the functioning and role of the Pushkin myth in modern Russian children's literature. In the book of short stories by Kristina Strelnikova "The Magnificent Wreath of Wreaths", Maria Bershadskaya "Pushkin and Company" (the tenth story from the cycle "Big Little Girl"), the novella "P.Ushkin and Pixels" by AI eN (Irina Krestyeva), the story of Ksenia Dragunskaya "Pushkin is urgently needed!" Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin appears not only in the image of a great poet. His presence in modern texts for children, on the one hand, is due to the presence of the Pushkin myth in culture as a whole, on the other – the early acquaintance of children with the work and facts of the poet's biography. The specificity of the image of the personality and creativity of A.S. Pushkin is due to the peculiarities of children's perception: the biography and creativity of the writer are transferred to the everyday sphere. During the research, historical, cultural, comparative and biographical methods of literary criticism were used. A.S. Pushkin in modern literature for children and adolescents is transformed from the image of a brilliant writer into the image of a friend whose everyday life is no less interesting and fascinating than his works. The texts of K. Strelnikova, M. Bershadskaya, and Ai eN reflect the facts of Pushkin's biography (studying at the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum, marriage, duel), as well as his works (poems, fairy tales are quoted). The Pushkin myth is undoubtedly the most significant literary myth, the myth of genius in Russian culture, which does not lose its relevance over time, but on the contrary, is becoming increasingly widespread in the mass consciousness. Modern children's literature actively uses trends characteristic of "adult" literature, including mythologization, the inclusion of myths about the "new cultural hero", which, of course, is A.S. Pushkin.

Improving Reading Comprehension Skills Through the Scramble Techniques Using Picture Storybook Media at Grade VI Deaf Students SLB B Prima Bhakti Mulia Cimahi

Reading is one of the language skills that has an important role in improving the quality of one's life. One of the reading skills that children must master is reading comprehension. Deaf children have low reading comprehension skills. To overcome low reading comprehension skills, it is considered necessary to provide an alternative learning, one of which is given an alternative use of scramble techniques with picture story book media. The purpose of this study was to determine how much the improvement in reading comprehension skills in grade VI deaf students at SLB B Prima Bhakti Mulia Cimahi through the use of scramble techniques with picture story book media. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with the subject of research as many as 5 grade VI students. The results showed that there was an increase in reading comprehension skills in grade VI deaf students using scramble techniques through picture story book media. The use of scramble techniques with picture storybook media in reading comprehension activities can focus students' attention on the material given, and cause greater curiosity. So that reading comprehension skills in deaf students become improved in a better direction.

Pengembangan Local Stories Book untuk Siswa Kelas 1 Sekolah Dasar Kecamatan Singorojo Kabupaten Kendal

This research aims to develop a local stories book in Indonesian language subjects for grade 1 elementary school students in Singorojo District, Kendal Regency. This research also aims to determine the validity and practicality of the local stories book which was developed according to students' needs. This research uses a development model according to Sugiyono which includes potential and problems, data collection, product design, design validation, design improvement, product testing, and product revision. The data analysis techniques used are quantitative and qualitative, the variables studied include the validity of the local stories book which was developed through validation by expert experts and practicality based on student questionnaire responses. Based on the research results, it was found that (1) the local stories book validity test by material experts obtained an overall score of 87; (2) media expert aspects of book size, book cover design, and book content design received an overall score of 92; (3) and the practicality test based on the student response questionnaire obtained a score of 88.8. This piece of digital media, one out of a series, is made by me as part of a UROP effort alongside the Rare and Distinctive Collections at Norlin to make a vast fairy tale collection accessible to the public. Pictured in the banner are a variety of illustrations taken from different books being entered into an online database to create a fantastical scene, highlighting parts of little-known tales across cultures. The illustration for this college are taken from the following sources housed on campus: From Europa’s Fairy Book: “A Dozen at a Blow,” “The Unseen Bridegroom,” “The Dancing Water, the Singing Apple, and the Speaking Bird,” “The Language of Animals,” and “The Master-Maid”. Children’s Character Learning Model Based on Indonesian Local Wisdom: Implemented to Early Childhood Education in Play Centers

Character education can equip young children to become Indonesia's golden generation who are superior and skilled in noble work. This research aims to produce an early childhood character learning model based on local Indonesian wisdom through the Playing Center title which will be implemented at Early Childhood Education Institutions (ECE) in Indonesia. This research method uses the steps of the Borg and Gall research and development model. The subjects in this research were 30 teachers from five ECE institutions in the DKI Jakarta area. The data used as the basis for building a framework for early childhood character learning models based on local intelligence were collected using observation and interview techniques. The findings show that the teacher prepares a learning plan program at the beginning of each semester which is listed in the weekly program and daily program. However, the teacher has not fully prepared a simulation program that leads directly to the introduction of early childhood character. Identification of character values ​​in early childhood is done by providing examples of behavior and speech at school. The media that has been used to identify children's characters is through posters and non-digital story books. The learning environment needs to be improved because teachers have not been optimal in organizing the play environment in providing stimulation to children in class. The results of this research will enrich the character education model following the potential of the institution and the cultural background of early childhood as Indonesia's golden generation. In the last 6 months, KGU has experienced a decline in productivity and production targets have not been achieved. This happens because Komori engines often experience damage. Frequent downtime causes companies to want to replace machines by considering the company's cash flow. The purpose of this research is to determine the feasibility value of investment. The company will replace the Komori engine, by investing in a Heidelberg engine at a price of Rp. 760,000,0000. Investment analysis uses the NPV, IRR, Payback Period and Profitability Index methods. The results of the analysis used are NPV of IDR 793,678,932 > 0, IRR of 21.72%, payback period for return of investment capital which is 3 years 11 months, profitability index of 2.04> 1. Correlation coefficient value (risk value) 1, 62%. Based on the investment analysis, Heidelberg machines are worth investing in, because investing in these machines can streamline the production process, increase production results and company income

Pragmatic controlled trial of a school-based emotion literacy program for 8- to 10-year-old children: study protocol

BackgroundMental disorders are common in childhood, but many young people do not receive adequate professional support. Help-seeking interventions may bridge this treatment gap, however, there is limited research on interventions for primary-school children. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of an emotion literacy program at increasing literacy, reducing stigma, and promoting help-seeking in children aged 8–10 years.Methods and analysisA two-arm pragmatic cluster-controlled trial will compare Thriving Minds, an emotion literacy program for middle primary school children, to a wait-list control condition. Children aged 8–10 years will be recruited from approximately 12 schools (6 intervention schools/6 wait-list control) to participate in Thriving Minds via direct invitation by the program delivery service. Allocation to the intervention condition will be pragmatically, by school. Children will receive the intervention over two 50-minute sessions, across two weeks. Using story books and interactive discussion, the program aims to develop children’s knowledge of their own and other’s emotional experiences and emotion regulation strategies (self-care and help-seeking). The primary outcome is help-seeking intentions. Secondary outcomes include help-seeking knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours, emotion knowledge and attitudes, and stigma. Children will complete surveys at pre-intervention, post-intervention (one week after the program) and 12-week follow-up. Additional satisfaction data will be collected from teachers in intervention schools via surveys (post-intervention and 3-month follow-up) and semi-structured interviews (after follow-up), and selected children via focus groups (12-week follow-up). Analyses will compare changes in help-seeking intentions relative to the waitlist control condition using mixed-model repeated-measures analyses to account for clustering within schools.DiscussionWith demonstrated effectiveness, this universal emotion literacy program for promoting help-seeking for mental health could be more widely delivered in Australian primary schools, providing a valuable new resource, contributing to the mental health of young people by improving help-seeking for early mental health difficulties.Trial registrationAustralian New Zealand Clinical Trials Registry, ACTRN12623000910606 Registered on 24 August 2023.

How to Assess Oral Narrative Skills of Children and Adolescents with Intellectual Disabilities: A Systematic Review.

Children and adolescents with intellectual disabilities (ID) often encounter difficulties with narrative skills. Yet, there is a lack of research focusing on how to assess these skills in this population. This study offers an overview of the tools used for assessing oral narrative skills in children and adolescents with ID, addressing key questions about common assessment tools, their characteristics, and reported evidence. A systematic review was conducted of the literature published between 2010 and 2023 in the PsycINFO, ERIC, Education, and Psychology databases. An initial 1176 studies were reviewed by abstract, of which 485 were read in full text, leading to the selection and analysis of 22 studies. Most of the identified tools involve analyzing language samples obtained using wordless picture story books. Three common tools are emphasized. Studies have primarily identified inter-rater reliability and test-criterion evidence for validity. The main tools and their characteristics are discussed in depth to aid readers in discerning suitable options for research or practical applications. The importance of reporting diverse sources of evidence for validity and reliability within this population is highlighted.

Analisis Profil Pelajar Pancasila Dalam Buku Cerita Bergambar Keteladanan Potre Koneng

In this era of rapid globalization, it is causing a character and moral crisis. To overcome this problem, the government is currently starting to implement an independent curriculum, which in its implementation includes a Pancasila Student Profile to instill student character based on Pancasila values. To apply it in a fun learning process, learning media is needed that can support the cultivation of the Pancasila Student Profile. One of them is by using picture storybook media. However, in selecting the media you also need to pay attention to whether there are values in the Pancasila Student Profile or not. Therefore, in this study the researcher will analyze the values in the Pancasila Student Profile in the picture story book "Potre Koneng". The aim is that the learning media of picture story books can be taken into consideration by teachers to be used in instilling students' character based on Pancasila values. The research approach in this study is to use a qualitative approach with descriptive research methods. The type of research is library research. Based on the results of the analysis, the illustrated story book "Potre Koneng" contains six dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile, including the Dimension of Faith and Devotion to God Almighty and Having Noble Morals, the Critical Reasoning Dimension, the Creative Dimension, the Mutual Cooperation Dimension, the Independent Dimension, and the Diversity Dimension. Global. Therefore, this picture story book can be used as material for consideration by teachers.
