The purpose of this research is to design a basic food sales information system at Misman Store to assist the performance of Store employees in processing data and selling basic necessities which still use a manual recording system in managing stocks and transactions in the store, which causes inefficiencies in monitoring inventory of goods. Research using qualitative methods with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and literature studies. The results of the study, among others, make it easier for employees at misman shops to complete the main tasks of selling goods such as data management to be easier, more efficient, and effective with this system. sales and sales transaction reports. The designed web-based information system has several main features such as system login, dashboard, item category management, inventory management, and transaction recording and reporting. This system is designed to improve the efficiency of store operations and facilitate the management of goods data and sales transactions.

In the research process, the study emphasizes key elements of the physical scape, including locality, rarity, temporariness, convenience, aesthetics, and safety. For the social scape, the focus is on enhancing the professionalism, responsiveness, and friendliness of staff, as well as promoting customer similarity and appropriate behaviors through a deep understanding of fan culture to boost interactions and a sense of belonging among fans. The research findings confirm that the proposed physical and social scape strategies enhance the attractiveness of K-POP idol pop-up stores and improve visitors' experiences. However, the study acknowledges a limitation in that it does not empirically examine visitors' behaviors or psychological factors. To address this limitation, subsequent research should involve more in-depth analyses and a variety of case studies. The significance of this study lies in providing practical implementation plans for pop-up store operators and assisting K-POP pop-up stores in functioning as venues for cultural experiences. This, in turn, plays a crucial role in strengthening fandoms and enhancing the value of idol brands.

A Narrative Review: Optimization Algorithms for The Problem of Allocating Shelf Space in Retailing

The Shelf Space Allocation Problem (SSAP) is of great significance in the retail industry since it directly impacts the effectiveness of product placement and organization within a shop. This issue arises from a deficiency in comprehending the strategic arrangement of products, resulting in the wasteful utilization of space. Notably, SSAP has a significant negative impact on store operations and customer satisfaction, resulting in wasted space and a reduction in the number of products that can be displayed to customers. Hence, the careful selection of an optimization method is crucial for effectively managing the allocation of shelf space in retail operations. This study aims to examine optimization algorithm techniques for addressing the issue of shelf space allocation in a particular environment, such as enhancing sales, minimizing congestion, or optimizing space utilization. Several studies have considered several optimization algorithm methods that have been used in solving the SSAP, including Genetic Algorithm (GA), Linear Programming (LP), Dynamic Programming (DP), Simulated Annealing (SA), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), and Variable Neighborhood Search (VNS). These methods are selected based on problem characteristics, including nonlinearity, integer requirements for variables, and constraints such as limited rack space. This optimization method helps retailers to effectively optimize shelf space allocation and maximize sales and profits. The study thus reviewed previous papers examining optimization algorithm methods to solve the problem of shelf space allocation. Those methods are crucial in improving product organization efficiency, customer satisfaction, and overall business performance.

Enhancing efficiency of large cold store refrigeration systems through automated fault identification and intelligent energy optimization

Refrigeration systems in large cold stores frequently operate suboptimally due to component faults, leading to significant energy wastage and high carbon emissions. This study introduces a novel procedure that leverages data mining to automatically analyze and identify faults, thereby enhancing the intelligence of refrigeration equipment. The research focused on abnormal suction temperatures of compressors during the defrosting of air coolers in a large cold store. Through theoretical analysis and key data acquisition, the root cause of defrosting issues was traced to the abnormal operation of gas-powered suction stop valves, causing leakage of high-pressure hot gas. Clustering methods, Self-Organizing Maps (SOM), were utilized to classify system states and achieved high accuracy rates of 88.6 % to 93.8 % for the three fault modes during the defrosting process, respectively. The resolution of defrosting faults resulted in an energy consumption reduction of up to 18.3 %, aligning with global sustainability initiatives. The study also evaluated the carbon emission reduction, providing a comprehensive approach to improving the efficiency and environmental impact of cold store operations.

Computational Model of Complex Calcium Dynamics: Store Operated Ca2+ Channels and Mitochondrial Associated Membranes in Pancreatic Acinar Cells.

This proposed model explores the intricate Ca2+ dynamics within the pancreatic acinar cells (PACs) by emphasizing the role of store-operated Ca2+ entry (SOCE) and the mitochondrial-associated membranes (MAMs) in the secretory region (apical) of the PACs. Traditionally, Ca2+ releases from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) via calcium-induced calcium release (CICR). It has been shown to be important in regulating functions such as secretion of digestive enzymes in PACs. However, this model posits that upon the depletion of Ca2+ in the ER, the signaling protein stromal interaction molecule (STIM1) is activated. Activated STIM1, then facilitates the opening of Orai channels, allowing Ca2+ influx through the store-operated calcium channels (SOCCs). The model highlights the complexity of the Ca2+ dynamics, and the importance of SOCE and MAMs in the PACs Ca2+ homeostasis. The numerical and bifurcation analysis illustrate how changes in agonist concentrations can lead to the diverse Ca2+ oscillation patterns, such as thin to broader oscillations, sinusoidal patterns, and baseline fluctuations, driven by the feedback mechanisms involving Ca2+ and inositol 1,4,5 trisphosphate (IP3). This understanding could have broader implications for cellular physiology and the development of therapies targeting Ca2+ signaling pathways.

Large language models: a new approach for privacy policy analysis at scale

The number and dynamic nature of web sites and mobile applications present regulators and app store operators with significant challenges when it comes to enforcing compliance with applicable privacy and data protection laws. Over the past several years, people have turned to Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques to automate privacy compliance analysis (e.g., comparing statements in privacy policies with analysis of the code and behavior of mobile apps) and to answer people’s privacy questions. Traditionally, these NLP techniques have relied on labor-intensive and potentially error-prone manual annotation processes to build the corpora necessary to train them. This article explores and evaluates the use of Large Language Models (LLMs) as an alternative for effectively and efficiently identifying and categorizing a variety of data practice disclosures found in the text of privacy policies. Specifically, we report on the performance of ChatGPT and Llama 2, two particularly popular LLM-based tools. This includes engineering prompts and evaluating different configurations of these LLM techniques. Evaluation of the resulting techniques on well-known corpora of privacy policy annotations yields an F1 score exceeding 93%. This score is higher than scores reported earlier in the literature on these benchmarks. This performance is obtained at minimal marginal cost (excluding the cost required to train the foundational models themselves). These results, which are consistent with those reported in other domains, suggest that LLMs offer a particularly promising approach to automated privacy policy analysis at scale.

Design and Development of a Web-Based Cashier and Accounting System Using CodeIgniter 4

In the digital era, traditional manual bookkeeping and cashiering systems are no longer effective for managing store operations. CV Sinar Situju faces a particular problem in data management that is inefficient and error-prone. The solution offered is the development of a web-based bookkeeping and cashier system using the CodeIgniter 4 framework with the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method. This research method includes needs analysis, system design, implementation, and testing. The test results show that the system has good response speed, high stability, and is able to handle high user loads. The system improves operational efficiency, transaction recording accuracy, and data security. This research recommends the implementation of a web-based system to improve operational performance and customer satisfaction.

Difference between Franchisers with and without Direct Retail Stores

The new regulation was introduced to the franchise market of South Korea in that an applicant who wants to be a franchiser must set up direct retail stores and run them for at least one year before recruiting franchisees. Considering the purpose of the regulation, it is inferred that once franchisers run their own stores, their franchisees would be better off than otherwise. This paper addresses one reason that the Korea Fair Trade Commission has no choice but to introduce the regulation. Along the line, this paper investigates whether franchisees would have a more likelihood to make profit in case of franchisers operating their own stores. The result demonstrates that this case could be true since the operation of franchiser-owned stores could be helpful in reducing the cost of franchisees.

What triggers customers’ privacy protection behavior: The effect of surveillance cameras and data collection disclosure

ABSTRACT Despite all the benefits of what customer data can bring to the marketing field, customers’ privacy concern is one of the key challenges that comes with Big Data, privacy threats have evolved along with the evolution of information technology and resulted in privacy protection behaviour among customers. The present research conducted an experimental study to examine the effects of external stimuli in triggering privacy protection behaviour, including the presence of surveillance cameras, company disclosure of biometric data collection, and customers’ prior knowledge of privacy. The study involved a 3 (environmental awareness: low/average/high) x 2 (company disclosure: yes/no) between subject designs. Data was collected on the Tencent questionnaire platform (https://wj.qq.com/) with 554 effective responses. Partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) was employed to analyze the data. The results revealed that the presence of surveillance cameras, company disclosure in biometric data collection, and the customer’s prior knowledge of privacy are crucial factors in triggering a customer’s privacy protection behaviour in the service industry. Practical implications for retail store operators and theoretical contributions are discussed. The current study extends the knowledge of privacy protection by incorporating additional factors (privacy literacy) into the existing protection motivation theory. Additionally, it extends its application to the physical environment which is often overlooked.

Pengenalan Marketplace Hingga Robot Line Follower: Inovasi KKN Tematik di Dusun Gunungsari Desa Mlarak Kabupaten Ponorogo

The Thematic Community Service Programme in Gunungsari Subvillage, Mlarak Village, Ponorogo Regency strives to introduce digital technology and robotics to locals. This initiative concentrates on two key areas: introducing marketplaces to local UMKM and educating youth about line follower robots. The program aims to reduce the digital gap, enhance local economic competitiveness, and spark technological interest among young people. The program's execution involves two primary phases. The first phase focuses on familiarizing and training UMKM in marketplace usage, covering account setup, online store operations, and digital marketing tactics. The second phase comprises workshops and demonstrations of line follower robots at local schools, engaging students in basic robot programming and operation. The approach includes interactive sessions, hands-on training, and personalized guidance for participants. The initiative successfully enhanced the marketplace skills of 10 UMKM, with 60% of them beginning to market their products online actively. Concurrently, the line follower robot introduction attracted 60 students, resulting in a 75% increase in their interest in robotics technology, as indicated by post-event surveys. Furthermore, the program fostered collaboration among students, community members, and local government in efforts to advance technology and boost the local economy.

Role of Orai1 and Ca2+-stimulated adenylyl cyclase 8 in the adverse cardiac remodeling after myocardial infarction

Background It is well established that abnormalities in the regulation of the intracellular concentration of Ca2+ ([Ca2+]i) occurs in diseased heart such as under acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Recent studies have demonstrated that proteins related to the Store Operated Calcium Entry (SOCE), such as Orai1/2/3 and TRPC channels, play a role in the adverse cardiac remodelling. Previously, we demonstrated that the expression of Orai1 increased in heart subjected to ischemia and reperfusion (I/R) syndrome. However, the signalling pathway implicated in Orai1 regulation has not been addressed. Objective The aim of this study was to examine the molecular mechanism and signalling pathways involved in the of Orai1 upregulation after I/R in cardiomyocytes. Materials and Methods The experiments were performed in adult (ARVM) and neonatal rat ventricular cardiomyocytes (NRVM), in a rat model of myocardial I/R and in ventricular biopsies of patients with ischemic heart failure. Ca2+ studies were realized using microfluorimetric technique in FURA-2AM loaded cardiomyocytes. Immunofluorescence was used to investigate CREB activation using a specific phospho-CREB antibody and Orai1 and AC8 protein expression were analysed by Western Blot. This study was performed in accordance with the recommendations of the Royal Decree 53/2013 in agreement to the Directive 2010/63/EU of the European Parliament and approved by the local Ethics Committee on human Research and the Animal Research Committee. Results We found that under I/R diastolic level of [Ca2+]i was significantly increased in cardiac myocytes isolated from I/R hearts, which was inhibited by SOCE blockers. Moreover, we found that Orai1 and Ca2+-sensitive adenylyl cyclase 8 (AC8) are overexpressed in the heart isolated from I/R rat model, as compared to sham. Similarly, we found significant increase in the expression of Orai1 and AC8 in ventricle biopsies of post-infarction patients with HF. We also observed that I/R stimulated cAMP production, involving Orai1 and AC8 activation in rats, indicating that Ca2+ entry through Orai1 stimulated AC8. Moreover, I/R phosphorylated cAMP response element-binding protein (CREB) through PKA activation, but not via EPAC2 or ERK1/2. Interestingly, we found that CREB facilitated I/R-induced Orai1 upregulation and related exacerbated SOCE by its activation of Orai1 promoter under I/R. Finally, the intramyocardial administration of AAV9 holding AC8 shRNA decreased the expression of AC8, Orai1 and CREB, which restored diastolic [Ca2+]i. Conclusions Our results show that the activation of Orai1/AC8/CREB axis plays a key role in the I/R-induced Orai1 upregulation, which participated in diastolic [Ca2+]i mishandling related to the adverse cardiac remodelling.

Low-Latency Adaptive Distributed Stream Join System Based on a Flexible Join Model

Stream join is a fundamental operation in stream processing and has attracted extensive research due to its large resource consumption and serious impact on system performance. As the theoretical basis of stream join systems, the stream join model greatly affects system performance. State-of-the-art stream join models either consume too much computing resources or too much storage resources, thus resulting in lower throughput or higher latency. In this paper, we propose a new stream join model for processing arbitrary join predicates, called CoModel, which offers a flexible trade-off between memory and computing resource consumption. More importantly, CoModel can achieve the minimum sum of the number of store operations and join operations among all existing join models, and thus can achieve the lowest latency and highest throughput when the overheads associated with the local stream join for each input tuple are approximately constant. We give a trade-off strategy for CoModel and theoretically prove its performance advantages based on queuing theory. Furthermore, we design and implement an adaptive distributed stream join system, CoStream, based on CoModel. CoStream can adaptively adjust its structure according to resource constraints and statistics of input data. We conduct extensive experiments for CoStream to evaluate its performance and adaptivity, and the results show that CoStream has the lowest latency and highest throughput in various scenarios.

Data-driven decision-support system for expansions in retail stores: Dexter

ABSTRACT The expansion of retail stores is an important decision in the retail industry, involving significant investments and long-term consequences for customer service, satisfaction, and revenue growth. The decision-making process for store expansion is complex, and requires detailed information and a multilevel view of store operations over time. Yet, the literature shows a scarcity of data-driven decision-support systems for retail store expansions. To address this gap, we propose a data-driven decision support system called Dexter, which provides store expansion recommendations using a novel ensemble algorithm. Dexter was developed in collaboration with an industry partner, who provided access to various critical datasets. The results of the evaluation with domain experts show that Dexter has the potential to assist store owners in making informed decisions for retail store expansions. This work paves the way for further research and acts as an entry point to attract more works in this under-researched area.

Utilizing Java as the main programming language with an object-oriented approach ensures scalability and ease of maintenance. Additionally, the system has a user-friendly interface to facilitate fast and efficient transactions for store staff. Testing shows important improvements in transaction speed and accuracy, potentially reducing long-term operational costs. These findings show the positive impact of the appropriate use of information technology on retail store operations.

It is hoped that this online store will provide benefits for farmers.

The Influence of Inventory Costs on Product Sales: An Analysis in the Global Sneaker Market

The pandemic has greatly impacted the global athletic shoe market, leading to supply chain instability and inventory management challenges. Taking the global athletic shoe market as an example, this study delves into inventory management issues from three aspects: store operations, price changes, and supply chain modules, and analyzes Nike's data in China and Vietnam in detail. The epidemic led to challenges, such as declining market demand, production disruptions, and supply chain problems, which affected the company's profitability. By analyzing inventory management strategies, this study proposes two key recommendations to help firms cope with uncertainty and improve inventory management efficiency. First, firms are advised to maintain moderate inventories to respond to changes in market demand flexibly. Second, inventory levels should be increased moderately through marketing programs and promotional activities to improve product competitiveness. These recommendations are intended to help athletic footwear and apparel companies meet the challenges of reducing inventory costs, increasing product sales, and ultimately achieving inventory management success during the epidemic.
