The relevance of the research topic. Active development of health-improving fitness allows to predict the possibility of creation, adjustment and unification of programmes with the use of modern directions of motor activity, modernisation of health-improving programmes taking into account evolutionary changes of a person, qualitative change of the content of programmes on the basis of introduction of information technologies. The analysis and synthesis of professional literature data made it possible to study the opinion of scientists on the need and expediency of finding approaches to improving the level of physical fitness of mature men in the process of health-improving fitness training. The purpose of the article is the functional assessment of movements (in points) in groups of men aged 26-28 (n=16) and 29-31 (n=17). Methods: analysis and generalization of specialized scientific literature, pedagogical testing. From the range of methods of statistical data processing, primary statistical processing of materials was used in the study. Results. Men aged 29-31 had the poorest results, particularly in tests of shoulder girdle mobility and straight leg raises, which may indicate a decline in flexibility and stability with age. Such data indicate the need to maintain physical activity and special training to save a high level of physical fitness with age. Conclusions. The conducted functional assessment of movements of men aged 26-31 years revealed that the participants demonstrated a good level of physical fitness in push-ups and rotational stability, but they had difficulties with shoulder girdle mobility and coordination, which require additional attention and training. It was found that men aged 26-28 years had better overall functional fitness compared to men aged 29-31 years. This is confirmed by higher mean values of the general functional assessment compared to men aged 29-31 years, as evidenced by a difference of 2.16 points (p<0.01).
