The Prevalence of Body Dysmorphic Disorder in Outpatient Dermatology Clinics: A Systematic Review.

Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) is a psychiatric condition involving a preoccupation with physical appearance disproportionate to physical findings, which are often absent altogether. Previously published data has estimated its prevalence at 11.3-11.9% approximately, across various medical specialties. No recent systematic reviews strictly related to dermatology clinics and the prevalence of BDD have been published. The goal of the review was to gather a pooled prevalence of BDD in outpatient dermatology clinics around the world and further underline the importance of its recognition and appropriate treatment. Twenty-one articles tackling BDD in outpatient cosmetic and general dermatology clinics were selected. Studies were graded based on the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) and the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software (SPSS) was used to a calculate a mean for the pooled prevalence, yielding a weighted mean prevalence of 12.5% among general dermatology patients and 25.01% among cosmetic dermatology patients. The mean prevalence of BDD among general dermatology patients fell within previously reported numbers. It was, however, markedly higher than previously reported in cosmetic dermatology patients, which we postulate could be due to dermatologists being at the forefront of non-invasive cosmetic procedures. As such, we conclude that given the high prevalence of BDD among dermatology patients, we highlight the importance of keeping a high index of suspicion of BDD among dermatologists, ways to uncover it in a clinical setting, and additional data showcasing the importance of psychiatric treatment of these patients for better outcomes, all while avoiding unnecessary interventions.

Impact of Anti Tubercular Drugs on Biochemical Changes in Newly Diagnosed Tuberculosis Patients

Background: The disease tuberculosis (TB) continues to be a major global health concern, with high rates of morbidity and mortality, particularly in developing nations. It affects multiple organs and has the ability to alter metabolic processes. The purpose of this study was to ascertain how patients' serum biochemical markers were affected by tuberculosis and the medications used to treat it. Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate impact of anti-tubercular drugs on biochemical changes in newly diagnosed tuberculosis patients. Methods: The cross-sectional observational study was conducted in Netrokona Medical College Hospital, Netrokona, from 1st January 2022 to 31st December 2023. A total of 120 newly diagnosed cases of pulmonary tuberculosis were enrolled and analyzed in this study. The questionnaire was pretested, corrected and finalized. Data were collected by face-to-face interview and analyzed by appropriate computer based programmed software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), version 24. Results: In this study, majority 48 (40.0%) of the patients were in 31 - 40 years age group and 28 (23.3%) patients were in 41 - 50 years age group, Mean±SD of age was 36.13±11.03 years. Most of the patients 69 (57.50%) were male and 51 (42.50%) patients were female. Most of the patients 87 (72.5%) were in normal range (18.5 – 29.9 kg/m2), 15 (11.7%) of the patients were underweight (<18.5) and 19 (15.8%) of the patients were overweight (>30). Serum Glutamic Oxaloacetic Transaminase and Serum Glutamic Pyruvic Transaminase level were 18.00 (4.01), 21.04 (3.16) before treatment but after treatment the level became 20.10 (3.52), 22.57 (4.41). Urea and Creatinine level were 18.20 (2.31), 0.63 (0.15) before treatment but after treatment 20.01 (5.34) and 0.53 (0.13). Comparison between Highly Sensitive C - Reactive Protein in Subjects with Preeclampsia with Severe Features and Preeclampsia without Severe Features

Background: Preeclampsia (PE) develops in 4-5% of pregnancies in humans. It appears after 20 weeks of gestation and is defined by increased blood pressure and proteinuria. When convulsions occur or the hemolysis, high liver enzymes, and low platelet count (HELLP) condition materializes, PE can lead to eclampsia. It is well recognized that eclampsia and HELLP syndrome are linked to serious side effects include liver hemorrhage, lung edema, brain hemorrhage, and renal failure. Objective: The aim of this study is to compare between highly sensitive c- reactive protein in subjects with preeclampsia with severe features and preeclampsia without severe features. Methods: This case-control study was carried out in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Dhaka, from January 2023 to December 2023. A total of 68 patients were enrolled and analyzed in this study. The questionnaire was pretested, corrected and finalized. Data were collected by face-to-face interview and analyzed by appropriate computer based programmed software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), version 24. Results: In this study, maximum study subjects were in 21 – 30 years age group. Mean age of the study subjects was 26.12 ± 4.02 and 24.04 ± 4.32 years in PE with severe features and PE without severe features respectively. Majority of the patients 27(79.4%) and 25 (73.5%) were housewife in both cases. Illiterate 2 (5.9%), higher secondary 9(26.5%) and graduate 10(29.4%) were higher in PE with severe features than PE without severe features. Most of the patients 25 (73.5%) and 21 (61.8%) came from rural area. Nullipara was higher in PE with severe feature and multigravida was higher in PE without severe features. Antenatal care was found more irregular in PE patients with severe features subjects than PE without severe features. Preterm pregnancy was higher in PE with severe feature than PE without severe features. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure were found significantly higher in PE patients with severe features than without severe features. hsCRP was found significantly higher in PE with severe features than PE without severe features. APGAR score of the neonate was significantly better of PE patients without severe features than with severe features patients both at birth and at 5 minutes. Average birth weight of the neonate was found higher of the PE patients without severe features than with severe features patients. There was 6(17.6%) very LBW of neonates of PE with severe features patients but none in PE without severe features patients. Intrauterine growth retardation, and prematurity were found higher in PE with severe features patients comparing PE without severe features. Conclusion: Women with PE have higher serum hsCRP levels. Clinical and biochemical markers of PE are linked with elevated serum levels of hsCRP in preeclamptic women. Serum hsCRP levels can be measured to determine the severity of PE.

High Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein as an Independent Risk Factor for Preeclampsia with Severe Features

Background: One of the most dangerous complications of pregnancy and a major contributor to maternal and perinatal morbidity and death is preeclampsia. The goal of the current study was to measure the level of inflammation in severe preeclampsia by measuring serum high-sensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and establishing a relationship between hs-CRP and blood pressure. Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact high sensitivity C-reactive protein as an independent risk factor for preeclampsia with severe features. Methods: The cross-sectional study was carried out in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Dhaka, from July 2022 to June 2023. A total of 200 patients were enrolled and analyzed in this study. The questionnaire was pretested, corrected and finalized. Data were collected by face-to-face interview and analyzed by appropriate computer based programmed software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), version 24. Results: In this study, majority 95 (47.5%) of the patients were in 21 – 30 years age group and 60 (30.00%) patients were in >30 years age group, Mean±SD of age was 27.12 ± 4.12 years. Most of the patients 150 (75.00%) were housewife and 50 (25.00%) patients were service holder. About 55 (27.5) patients were completed their graduation, 50 (25.00%) were completed higher secondary and 20 (10) were illiterate, most of the patients 145 (72.5%) came from rural area and 55(27.5) patients came from urban area. Nullipara was found in 75 (37.5%) patients and multigravida was found in most of the patients 110 (55.00%). Antenatal care was found irregular in 105 (52.5%) patients. Preterm pregnancy was found in majority 145 (72.5%) of the patients. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure were found higher and hsCRP was also found higher in PE with severe features. APGAR score was found less in 65 (32.5%) neonate at birth and APGAR score was found good in 55 (27.5%) neonate at 5 minutes. Average birth weight was found in 75 (37.5%) neonates, LBW was found in 85 (42.5) neonates and very LBW was found in 40 (20.00%) neonates of PE with severe features patients. Intrauterine growth retardation and prematurity were found in 75 (37.5%) and 20 (10.00%) neonates, admission to NICU was needed for 45 (22.5%) neonates, birth asphyxia was found in 15 (7.5%) neonates and stillbirth was occured in 35 (17.5%) cases. Conclusion: An exaggerated systemic inflammatory response, which may produce reactive oxygen species and worsen endothelial dysfunction, is present in preeclampsia. Clinical signs of hypertension and proteinuria in preeclampsia result from this. Preeclampsia-related maternal mortality and systemic complications may be reduced with early identification. hsCRP may therefore be a valuable gauge of preeclampsia severity.

The Influence Of Work-Life Balance On Employee Performance At Hotel Four Points By Sheraton Medan

The purpose of this research is to comprehend and analyze the influence of work-life balance on employee performance at Four Points by Sheraton Medan. This study employs an associative approach method. The population for this research encompasses all employees at Four Points by Sheraton Medan, with a sample size of 51 respondents determined using the Slovin's formula. This research utilizes both primary and secondary data sources. The data analysis techniques applied in this study consist of simple linear regression analysis, the t-test of hypotheses, and the Coefficient of Determination. Data processing was conducted using SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) software version 25.00. Based on the data analysis results, a simple regression equation model was obtained as Y = 24.164 + 0.461 X, indicating a positive influence of work-life balance on employee performance. Furthermore, from the results of the t-test analysis, a significant value of 0.002 < 0.05 was obtained, indicating that work-life balance significantly affects employee performance at Four Points by Sheraton Medan.

Central Corneal Thickness and Endothelial Cell Changes in Diabetics and Age-Matched Non-diabetics in a Tertiary Care Hospital in Central India.

Background Diabetes has become an epidemic, significantly impacting ocular health as one of its end-organ responses. Among the various ocular complications, alterations in corneal morphology stand out. Central corneal thickness (CCT) and endothelial cell function are vital parameters in assessing intraocular pressure, conducting pre-refractive surgery evaluations, and maintaining corneal transparency. Understanding these changes in diabetic individuals compared to non-diabetics is crucial for managing ocular health in this population. Aim and objective This study evaluates and compares CCT and endothelial cell changes between diabetic individuals and age-matched non-diabetics. By analyzing these parameters, the study seeks to provide insights into the impact of diabetes on corneal morphology and its implications for ocular health. Methods The study recruited 124 patients from the Ophthalmology Outpatient Department (OPD) at Acharya Vinoba Bhave Rural Hospital (AVBRH), Sawangi. A cross-sectional research design was employed to collect data over six months. Patients were carefully selected, and informed consent was obtained from all participants. CCT and endothelial cell parameters were assessed using specular microscopy, a non-invasive imaging technique. Statistical analysis was done using the software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) for inferential statistics, such as t-tests and ANOVA, and comparing parameters between diabetic and non-diabetic groups.Findings were interpreted based on both statistical significance and clinical relevance. Results In diabetic patients, the mean CCT was 547.91 µm, while it was 523.62 µm in non-diabetic individuals.The T statistic for this variable was 5.14, indicating a17 significant differencebetween the two groups. Similarly, significant differences were found between diabetics and non-diabetics for endothelial cell density, coefficient of variation, and hexagonality, as evidenced by their respective T statistics of 7.46, 5.17, and 4.91. Endothelial cell density averaged 2375 cells/mm2 in diabetics and 2666.95 cells/mm2 in non-diabetics. Additionally, the coefficient of variation was higher among people with diabetes (40.87%) compared to non-diabetics (35.09%). Hexagonality, a measure of endothelial cell shape, was lower in diabetic corneas (40.48%) than in non-diabetic corneas (46.46%). Conclusion The study observed significant differences in corneal morphology, including central thickness and endothelial cell changes, between diabetic and non-diabetic individuals. These findings underscore the impact of diabetes on ocular health and emphasize the importance of monitoring corneal parameters in diabetic patients. Understanding these changes can aid in better management and treatment strategies for ocular complications associated with diabetes.

The purpose of this research is to determine the influence of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) on purchasing decisions at PT. Mount Sawit Mas. The method used in this research is descriptive method, this type of research is quantitative data, primary data obtained through questionnaires. The research population that will be used in this research is all consumers who make purchases from companies totaling 137 consumers (similar palm oil companies). Because the population used is 137 consumers, the population will be reduced using the Slovin sampling technique with a confidence level of 95% and an error rate of 5%, where 102 samples are obtained. The analysis technique used is simple linear analysis and statistical tests, namely t-test (partial) using SPSS (statistical package for the social sciences) software. The test results show that Customer Relationship Management has a positive and significant effect on consumer purchasing decisions at PT. Mount Sawit Mas.

The Role of HPV Genotype among Colposcopy Diagnosed Cervical Precancerous Lesions

Background: Cancer is the leading cause of death and a major contributor to reduced life expectancy in every country on Earth [1]. Cervical cancer (CC) is a serious global health concern that is more common in developing countries, especially those on the Indian subcontinent. More and more women are suffering from CC. Cervical cancer is mostly caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), a sexually transmitted virus that is one of the most common illnesses of the reproductive system. Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the role of HPV genotype among colposcopy diagnosed cervical precancerous lesions. Methods: The cross-sectional observational study was conducted in the Department of Gynecological Oncology of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka, from July 2021 to June 2022. A total of 132 subjects were included in the study. Data were collected by face-to-face interview and analyzed by appropriate computer based programmed software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), version 24. Results: In this study, the mean age was found to be 36.7±6.3 years, with a range from 31 to 60 years, the majority 53 (40.2%) of patients completed SSC and 118 (89.4%) were housewives and 125(94.7%) were Muslims. In this study most of the patients 101 (76.5%) came from middle-income families. About 45 (34.1%) patients were married between the ages of 15-17 years, 45 (34.1%) were between 16-18 years during their first delivery and 56 (42.4%) had 3-4 children. Most of the patients 92(69.7%) had history of received OCP. About 10(7.0%) patients were found HPV 16 positive followed by 1(0.7%) HPV 18, 3(2.1%) other HR-HPV, 3(2.1%) HPV 16 & other HR-HPV and 1(0.7%) HPV 16-HPV 18 & other HR-HPV. Most of the 95 (72.0%) patients had CIN I, 30 (22.7%) had CIN II and 7 (5.3%) had CIN III identification by colposcopy reports. Diagnostic Performance between Colposcopy Findings and Histopathology Reports

Background: Cervical cancer is the most frequent cancer in women worldwide. With appropriate screening, the condition can be prevented and treated. Colposcopy is a useful tool in the diagnosis and management of precancerous cervical lesions following primary screening. The gold standard for identifying precancerous lesions is histopathology. Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic performance between colposcopy findings and histopathology reports Methods: The cross-sectional observational study was conducted in the Department of Colposcopy Clinic of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka, from July 2022 to June 2023. A total of 62 subjects were included in the study. The questionnaire was pretested, corrected and finalized. Data were collected by face-to-face interview and analyzed by appropriate computer based programmed software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), version 24. Results: In this study, the mean age was found to be 36.8±11.9 years, with a range from 20 to >51 years maximum 44 (71.0%) of the patients were within the age group of 20 - 40 years. The majority 37 (59.7%) of patients completed SSC and most of the patients 56 (90.3%) were housewives. Most of the patients 59 (95.2%) were Muslims and about 32 (51.6%) came from middle-income families. About 25 (40.3%) patients were married between the ages of 15-17 years. About 25 (40.3%) were between 16-18 years during their first delivery and about 26 (41.9%) had 3-4 children and 21 (33.9%) had more than 4 children. Most of the patients 43(69.4%) had history of received OCP. Regarding colposcopic diagnosis, 12.9% (n=8) were normal, 69.4% (n=43) were CIN I, 9.7% (n=6) were CIN II and 8.1% (n=5) were CIN III and 30.6% (n=19) chronic cervicitis, 46.8% (n=29) CIN I, 6.5% (n=4) CIN II, 6.5% (n=4) CIN III, 4.8% (n=3) carcinoma in situ and 4.8% (n=3) were invasive squamous cell carcinoma by the histopathological diagnosis. Conclusion: Colposcopy had a rather high diagnostic accuracy for histopathologically verified precancerous cervical lesions. Even if the results of the screening tests are normal, patients who report with postcoital and postmenopausal bleeding should have colposcopies and biopsies. Colposcopy also has a high sensitivity, therefore it is simple to use the "see and treat" approach to lower dropout rates.

Evaluation of the Efficacy and Safety of Dienogest in the Treatment of Primary Dysmenorrhea: A Study in a District-Level Hospital in Bangladesh

Background: Dysmenorrhea is a common symptom secondary to various gynecological disorders, but it is also represented in most women as a primary form of disease. Pain associated with dysmenorrhea is caused by hypersecretion of prostaglandins and an increased uterine contractility. The primary dysmenorrhea is quite frequent in young women and remains with a good prognosis, even though it is associated with low quality of life. Objectives: The aim of this study is to evaluate of the efficacy and safety of dienogest in the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea: a study in a district-level hospital in Bangladesh. Methods: The cross-sectional observational study was conducted in the Department of Gynae and Obs, Naogaon Sadar Hospital from July 2022 to June 2023. A total of 100 subjects who received DNG (1 mg/day, orally) were included in the study. Data were collected by face-to-face interview and analyzed by appropriate computer based programmed software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), version 24. Results: In this study, most of the patients 43% lies between 21 years to 25 years and body weight of 24% patients were between 51 to 55 kg. In this study, most of the patients 41% body mass index were 18.5 – 24.9 kg/m2. Most of the patients’ clinical symptoms were cramping pain in the lower abdomen (89%), low back pain (86%), pain spreading down to the leg (73%), fatigue (64%). About (56%) adverse effects were body weight gain and irregular uterine bleeding occurred in 35 of 100 cases (35%). Conclusion: Primary dysmenorrhea is one of the most common illnesses in women of childbearing age. When severe, it may interfere with the activities of daily living and may lead to school and work absenteeism. Primary dysmenorrhea is also one of the most underdiagnosed diseases, so clinicians should suspect the diagnosis in a timely manner and provide appropriate treatment.

Evaluation of Quality of Endodontic Retreatment: A Cross-sectional Study among Private Moroccan Dentists

Objectives: To study the attitude of dentists towards root canal retreatment performed in the private sector in Casablanca. Material and methods: To conduct a descriptive cross-sectional study, an anonymous questionnaire was distributed to a representative sample of 314 Moroccan dentists. Sample size calculation and sampling were performed using Epi info software. Data were analyzed using the SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) software. Qualitative variables were expressed by their effective and percentage, and quantitative ones by their mean and standard deviation. Results: 91.5% of dentists used endodontic retreatment in their daily practice, and 84.4% of these dentists routinely indicated it when faced with a missing root canal filling or a painful apical lesion. When disobturating, 51.1% of dentists used Desocclusol as a root canal solvent, and 57.4% opted for a combination of manual and rotary mechanized instrumentation. The most common accidents encountered were instrument fractures (68.4%), followed by stoppers (45.7%). Conclusion: The results of this study show that dentists in Casablanca were not complying with the preliminary stages of endodontic retreatment. However, we noted an evolution towards the use of new mechanized preparation techniques and digital radiography.

Cost Estimation Proxy Models for Economic Evaluations in Petroleum Projects

Petroleum economic evaluation involves estimating revenues from forecasted production profiles and field costs including capital expenditures (CAPEX), drilling expenses (DRILLEX), and operating expenses (OPEX). The existing cost-estimating tool requires several inputs making it time-intensive and difficult to use with few data during the early stages of projects. Majority of the previously developed time saving cost estimations proxy models rely on unrealistic assumptions that include uniform operational costs for different fields with a different number of wells, casings, and drilled depths. This work focused at developing proxy models that consider the variability of the development costs with different parameters. The developed models benefited from a three-step approach for CAPEX, DRILLEX, and OPEX estimations based on datasets from three wells from a gas field in southern coastal Tanzania. Firstly, cost sensitivity analysis was performed using QUE$TOR v15.1.0.18, a cost estimating commercial software to determine the most influential field parameters of the field costs. Secondly, the field cost models were generated based on historical cost data from the gas field using multivariable regression analysis with the help of Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software (SPSS) v22.0. Lastly, errors analysis was done for checking the predictive reliability of the models. Based on the analysis, the CAPEX and OPEX were found to be strongly linearly dependent on the size of processing facilities, number of producing wells in the gas field and production capacity, respectively. On the other hand, a nonlinearity relation was revealed on of the DRILLEX which was strongly dependent on drilled well depth and number of installed well casing. Results show that the developed models are useful and their reliability becomes robust when more data is used. A stochastic modeling approach was further recommended for the models to incorporate uncertainties associated with the parameters used to quantify the cost estimates.

Evaluation of Gene Xpert Test of Stool Specimen with that of Induced Sputum as Gold Standard

Background: Globally Tuberculosis (TB) is a major infectious disease. In 2011, there were an estimated 8.7 million new cases with 6% childhood tuberculosis. The majority of the cases occurring in high TB burden countries worldwide. Confirmed diagnosis of childhood TB remains challenging for physicians. MT test and Chest X-ray usually has very little diagnostic value for the diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis in children who has symptom criteria suggestive of PTB. Objectives: This study was done to evaluate of Gene Xpert Test of Stool Specimen with that of Induced Sputum as Gold Standard. Methods: The cross-sectional study was conducted in the Department of Pediatrics, Sir Salimullah Medical College & Mitford Hospital from January 2020 to June 2021. A total of 48 subjects of both sexes with the age range from 1 month to 59 months were included in the study. Data were collected over a period of eleven months and analyzed by appropriate computer based programmed software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), version 22. Results: In this study, most of the children 14 (29.2%) lies between 13 months to 24 months. About most of the children 28 (58.33%) were male and 20 (41.67%) children were female. According to the clinical presentation majority of the children present with fever 39(75.0%), followed by cough (72.9%) and weight loss (50%), history of contact was present in 15 (31.3%) children. Chest X-ray of 54% children was suggestive of PTB (as Consolidation, Milliary mottling, patchy opacity etc) 46% showed normal X-ray findings. Gene X-pert of Induced sputum could detect M.Tuberculosis in case of 12.5% children and in 87.5% cases Gene X-pert could not detect M.Tuberculosis in induced sputum. M.Tuberculosis was detected by Stool X-pert in 18% of children who were clinically diagnosed as PTB. In 82% of patient stool X-pert could not detect M.Tuberculosis. Correlation of Canine Height to Overall Facial Height: An Observational Study

Background: Identifying individuals by determining their body parameters plays a major role in criminalinvestigation. These parameters play an integral role in the identification of a person. Teeth, particularly canines,can help in identification, as they are the most stable teeth in the oral cavity because of the labiolingual thickness of the crown and root anchorage in the alveolar process.Aim: To establish a relationship, if any between the crown length of the maxillary canine tooth and the facialheight of an adult individual and intersex differences.Materials and methods: This study was conducted at a dental college where patients reported for treatment. The study group comprised 100 participants (50 men and 50 women, aged 18-23 years. To measure the facial height,photographs were taken and analyzed using Adobe Photoshop software. The face was divided into the upper,middle and lower thirds considering the hairlines, glabella, subnasalis, and menton as reference points. The length between the hairline and glabella is the upper facial height (UFH), that between the glabella and subnasalis is the middle facial height (MFH), and that between the subnasalis and menton is the lower facial height (LFH). For tooth measurements, impressions of the upper arches were made using alginate and dental stone casts were obtained. The length between the cervical line and cusp tip is the canine height(CH) and the mesiodistal length is the canine width(CW). Measurements of teeth were recorded using digital verniercalliper. Statistical analysis was performed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software (SSPS) version 16. The Mann-Whitney U test was used to determine the correlation between facial height and canine height.Results: Total Facial Height (TFH), Canine Height (CH), Canine Width (CW) in males and females was done using descriptive statistics. This study demonstrated a correlation between TFH and CH in both men and women. This study showed that, as TFH increased, CH also increased. Therefore, TFH and CH were directly proportional, and hence there was a correlation between TFH and CH.Conclusion: The total facial and canine heights are directly proportional to each other. There is a correlationbetween the facial height and canine height.

Analisis Pengaruh E- Wom Terhadap Keputusan Pembelian Mahasiswa/i dari Aplikasi Tiktok Shop

The aim of this research is to determine the influence of word of mouth promotion (E-WOM) on consumer purchasing decisions from the Tiktok Shop application. The method used in this research is descriptive method, this type of research is quantitative data, primary data obtained through questionnaires. The research population that will be used in this research is all students of Cendana Polytechnic. Sampling was carried out on 100 research samples. The analysis technique used is simple linear analysis and statistical tests, namely t-test (partial) using SPSS (statistical package for the social sciences) software. The test results show that Word of Mouth Promotion partially has a positive and significant effect on consumer purchasing decisions at the TikTok Shop.

Insight into Stenotrophomonas maltophilia Infections in a Tertiary Care Teaching Hospital in Western India and Review of Literature: A Retrospective Observational Study

Introduction: Stenotrophomonas maltophilia (S. maltophilia) is a ubiquitous and opportunistic pathogen of growing importance. This gram-negative, non fermenter is widely distributed in moist hospital environments. It is intrinsically resistant to a number of antibiotics, making it a challenge both for the clinician and the microbiologist. Very sparse data is available from Western India regarding this emerging pathogen. Aim: To determine the prevalence and spectrum of infections caused by S. maltophilia and to provide an overview of associated co-morbidities, antibiotic susceptibility pattern of these isolates, and clinical outcomes. Materials and Methods: This retrospective observational study was carried out in a tertiary care private hospital (Mahatma Gandhi Hospital) in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India over a period of one year (July 2021-June 2022). A total of 11,170 samples were received in the microbiology laboratory for bacterial culture and susceptibility testing during the study period and processed as per standard protocols. Only one isolate per patient was included for the purpose of the study. Culture identification and antibiotic susceptibility testing was done using the VITEK-2 automated system. Data regarding patients’ demographic profile, epidemiological profile, baseline characteristics, comorbidities, laboratory findings, and clinical outcome were tabulated in an Excel worksheet and analysed. All statistical analysis was done using the Software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20.0. Results: Fourteen patients were found to have S. maltophilia infection during the study period. The majority of patients had respiratory tract infection and bacteraemia. All isolates were from inpatients, more than two-thirds being from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). A high level of susceptibility was seen to routinely recommended drugs, with 100%, 93% and 79% being susceptible to minocycline, levofloxacin and co-trimoxazole, respectively. All patients (except one) were successfully managed and discharged. Conclusion: S. maltophilia is an emerging opportunistic pathogen and is associated with a plethora of clinical conditions. Early and accurate diagnosis by embracing automation in microbiology laboratories is essential to identify this pathogen. S. maltophilia infections have a favourable outcome when diagnosed and treated timely

Serodiagnosis of Brucellosis in Patients with Fever of Unknown Origin at a Tertiary Care Hospital in Bangalore: A Cross-sectional Study

Introduction: Brucellosis is a zoonotic disease caused by bacteria of the genus Brucella. Although it is not commonly transmitted between humans, it can be transmitted through direct handling of cattle or their products, such as raw milk, unevenly heated milk, clotted cream, and cheese, for varying periods. Brucellosis is considered as one of the neglected zoonotic diseases worldwide, as it can cause debilitating acute infections and later become chronic with numerous complications. Aim: To determine the prevalence of brucellosis among patients with Pyrexia of Unknown Origin (PUO). Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in the Department of Microbiology at Ramaiah Medical College and Teaching Hospital in Bangalore, Karnataka, India, over a period of two years, from December 2019 to December 2021. The study included patients who visited the Outpatient Department (OPD) and those admitted to the hospital with fever persisting for more than 5-7 days and Fever of Unknown Origin (FUO). The total sample size was 180, and 5-10 ml of blood was collected from each patient under aseptic precautions from the median cubital vein for serological tests. The blood samples were stored at 2-8°C for the Rose Bengal Test (RBT) assay and Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The demographic parameters considered included clinical history, age, gender, residency, and history of animal exposure. Data analysis was performed using the statistical software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 18.0, employing the Chi-Square test, Fisher’s-Exact test, and descriptive statistics. The significance level employed was set at p-value <0.05. Results: Among 180 samples, six (i.e., 3.3%) were positive for the Brucella RBT (BRBT), while 11 (i.e., 6.1%) were positive for the (ELISA IgM), and 17 (i.e., 9.4%) were positive for the (ELISA IgG). Additionally, 22 samples (i.e., 12.22%) tested positive for either ELISA of IgG or IgM (ELISA IgG/IgM). Conclusion: The present study identified 22 patients (12.22%) with Brucella-positive cases who presented with various clinical signs and symptoms, originating from different geographical locations and regardless of gender. These findings suggest that all cases of FUO presented to a clinician should be evaluated for Brucella infection.

PENGENALAN DAN PELATIHAN SOFTWARE PENGOLAHAN DATA SPSS DAN SMARTPLS DI UNIVERSITAS MIKROSKIL

One of the popular tools for data processing is the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS. Understanding data processing has a very important role in preparing the final assignment. Data processing is a critical step in scientific research methodology. Students who compose their final assignment need to know and understand the techniques, stages and interpretation of results correctly so that their research has a strong basis. So the aim of Community Service Activities is to provide knowledge and understanding to final semester students who have started preparing their final assignments at Mikroskil University. Provide practical understanding and skills to students in using SPSS and SmartPLS as data processing tools. This training was carried out directly using SPSS and SMArtPLS software. Based on the results of the answers to the pre-test and post-test questions of the training participants, it can be seen that there is an increase in understanding in the introduction and use of SPSS and SmartPLS software before and after, for details, see Figure 7 for a comparison of the pre-test and post-test results. So it can be concluded that the introduction and training of SPSS and SmartPLS data processing software at Mikroskil University was successful.

Menjelajahi Nirwana Akademik Analisis Keberhasilan Universitas Muhammadiyah Jawa Timur dalam Memenangkan Hati Mahasiswa Melalui Kompetensi Staff Akademik, Keandalan Layanan dan Kilau Reputasi

This research aims to analyze the influence of the variables of Academic Staff Competence, Service Reliability, and University Reputation on Student Satisfaction in Muhammadiyah Universities in East Java using hypothesis testing method with the assistance of SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) software. Data collected from 240 student respondents were analyzed to test the impact of these variables on student satisfaction. The SPSS analysis results show that all three variables, namely Academic Staff Competence, Service Reliability, and University Reputation, both simultaneously and partially, have a significant positive influence on student satisfaction. These findings have significant implications for higher education institutions, especially in designing strategies to improve service quality, develop academic staff competence, and enhance university reputation collectively.

Pengaruh Beban Kerja terhadap Kinerja Pegawai Melalui Kepuasan Kerja pada Dinas Perumahan Rakyat, Kawasan Permukiman dan Cipta Karya Kabupaten Jember

This study analyzes the relationship between workload, employee satisfaction, and employee performance with satisfaction as an intervening variable. Through path analysis on data from the Department of Housing, Settlements, and Creative Works of Jember Regency, using the path analysis method with the assistance of SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) software, data was collected from 80 employee respondents to test the influence of these variables on employee performance. The findings indicate that workload has a direct positive and significant impact on employee satisfaction, as well as a positive and significant influence on employee performance. The crucial role of employee satisfaction as an intervening variable is proven, connecting workload with employee performance. The main conclusion is the need to create a work environment that supports optimal satisfaction levels while managing workload according to employee capacity. In the context of human resource management, this balance becomes a crucial factor in achieving organizational performance and effectiveness.
