The need to include state librarianship as a key curriculum component in the M.L.S. program is discussed. Based upon the experiences gained from a Higher Act, Title II-B Institute, Education of Prospective State Library Agency Professional Personnel, problem areas related to both the nature of state librarianship and library education are forwarded. Current curricular offerings and other educational experiences offered by library schools are identified as well as competencies necessary for state library personnel. Curriculum modules are noted and reference given for access to a complete curriculum for state librarianship.
