Implementation of the Independent Curriculum in Improving the Quality of Education at State Islamic Senior High Schools

Implementing the Independent Curriculum is increasingly urgent in efforts to improve the quality of education that is more flexible, relevant, and adaptive to students' needs. However, problems are still related to the effective implementation of the independent curriculum in educational institutions, especially at the Islamic-based madrasa level. The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation strategy of the Independent Curriculum at MAN Palopo, as well as to identify the challenges faced and opportunities that can be optimized. Using a qualitative method with a case study type, this study found several main strategies, such as classroom adjustments, digital skills development through technology, interest-based learning, and intensive teacher training. The main findings show that MAN Palopo has demonstrated a high commitment to implementing the Independent Curriculum, including integrating technology and project-based learning, but faces limited facilities, time management, and teacher training that still needs improvement. The implications of this study include the need to improve facilities and infrastructure, fulfil the need for technological devices, ongoing training for teachers, and more efficient time management to ensure that the implementation of the Independent Curriculum runs optimally and sustainably.

The Paradigm of Fiqh Maqasid in Islamic Campus Da’wah Amidst Multicultural Society

This qualitative study with a case study approach aims to identify the dimensions of maqasid sharia values in the role of da'wah of the academic community of the Fattahul Muluk Papua State Islamic Institute in a multicultural society. The contemporary maqasid sharia theory conceptualized by Jasser Auda becomes the theory of analysis. Data collection uses observation, interview, and documentation techniques. This study confirms the dimensions of maqasid sharia values in the paradigm of da'wah by the academic community of the Fattahul Muluk Papua State Islamic Institute in building religious harmony in a multicultural society, including the value of hifz ‘irdh in disseminating tolerance and anti-radicalism through the activities of majelis taklim, community organisations, and scientific research publications. Then, the value of hifz waton in disseminating attitudes of national commitment through cooperation programmes between government agencies in strengthening nationalism. Third, the value of hifz ummah in the dissemination of an accommodating attitude towards culture through cooperation programs between government institutions in preserving local cultural wisdom. The findings of this study confirm the expansion of the dimensions of maqasid sharia values can be a paradigm of fiqh da'wah in the midst of multicultural society.

Strengthening Racism, Xenophobia and Islamophobia in Western Europe and its Impact on Türkiye-EU Relations

This study analyses the events in the international arena underlying the development of the phenomenon of racism, xenophobia, and Islamophobia, which have recently gained strength in Western Europe, and investigates the effects and role of the results obtained in the reflections of Turkey-European Union (EU) relations. In this context, the study consists of three parts. In the first part, the conceptual framework is discussed, and the historical background of the rising racism, xenophobia and Islamophobia in Europe is emphasized. In the second part, the reasons behind the rise of xenophobia and Islamophobia in Western Europe are analyzed. The third part analyses the impact of the rising racism movements in Western Europe on bilateral relations by taking Turkey's EU process into consideration. In the study, qualitative research method was used by utilizing descriptive and foreign policy approach. The data obtained were obtained by scanning domestic and foreign sources. According to the data obtained in the study, the revival of racism, xenophobia and Islamophobia in Western Europe after the Cold War period has negatively affected Turkey-EU relations. In this context, racism, immigration, the rise of far-right parties, and the bloody terrorist attacks in Europe by religious radical terrorist groups such as Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) have damaged bilateral relations. This situation has caused and continues to cause problems for Turkish citizens and Muslims of the Islamic faith in the member states of the Union. Consequently, in this study, the reflection of racism, xenophobia, and Islamophobia on the relations between Ankara and Brussels during the EU enlargement process is discussed within the framework of the theory of Constructivism.

Oil palms are susceptible to the pre-nursery stage of plant mortality caused by the Curvularia sp. pathogen, affecting various crops. Attacks by Curvularia sp. not only make oil palm production less efficient, but they are also notoriously difficult to manage. As a botanical fungicide, liquid smoke from strong coffee husks is an alternate control strategy. This research seeks to assess the efficacy of liquid smoke from robusta coffee husks in preventing the development of Curvularia sp. in oil palm seedlings. From January through April 2024, the laboratory work at UIN Agriculture Research Development Science Agrotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture and AnimalHHusbadry, State Islamic University Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau, focused on pathology, entomology, microbiology, soil and land science, and other related topics. This research used a fully randomized design (CRD) experimental approach with six treatments: a control group that did not get any liquid smoke and did not have a fungal infection, and five groups that received varying concentrations of liquid smoke with pathogen infection:0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, and 4%. Research has shown that at a concentration of 4%, robust coffee husk liquid smoke—which contains 4.24% total phenol and a pH of 4.61—could effectively or partially suppress the development of Curvularia sp. on oil palm seedlings. When comparing treatments, there were statistically significant changes in the number of infected leaves, the number of spots on the leaves, and the area of the spots, but no changes in the total number of leaves.

Profile of Knowledge of Science Teacher Candidates on Ethnoscience-Based Science Learning

The study aims to explore the knowledge of prospective science teacher students about ethnoscience-based learning. This study is exploratory research carried out at three tertiary institutions organising biology education study programs: Mandalika Education University, Hamzanwadi University, and Mataram State Islamic University. The research respondents were 54 biology education students. The research instrument used is a closed questionnaire with answers using a Likert scale; experts have validated it. The research data were analysed using quantitative descriptive and inferential statistics using the ANOVA test. The results of this study are: 1) students of the Mandalika University of Education have an average score of student knowledge about ethnoscience-based learning of 2.29 in the Fair Good category, Hamzanwadi University students of 1.84 in the Fair Good category, Mataram State Islamic students of 2, 25 in the Fair Good category; 2) there is a significant difference in the knowledge of students at the Mandalika University of Education, Hamzanwadi University, and Mataram State Islamic University about ethnoscience-based learning, as evidenced by the results of the ANOVA test with a significance value of 0.007>0.05.

Disengagement Is Not an Option: Why Repatriation of ISIS Brides Must Contain a De-radicalization Component

The relationship between a state and non-state actors can be a complicated one, even more so, when the non-state actor is allegedly affiliated with an unprecedented terrorist organization abroad. 2020 marks six years since the rise and fall of the Islamist group Islamic State (or Daesh) “Caliphate” in Iraq and Syria. A 2018 study done by the International Centre for the Study of Radicalization (ICSR) found that 41,490 citizens from 80 countries had gone to Iraq and Syria to join the terrorist organization. Of that number, researchers found that 4,640 were women. With the fall of the Caliphate, many of those women ended up in camps and are now requesting leniency and repatriation from their home countries. This paper argues that should countries choose to repatriate their female ISIS citizens (and subsequently their children), then imbued in the repatriation process ought to be a framework for de-radicalization or attitudinal modification rather than disengagement (behavioral modification).

Reading Political Integralism Using Eclectic and Dialectic Methods: A Study of Supomo's Reception of Spinoza, Adam Muller, and Hegel

<p>Supomo put forward the idea of political integralism (<em>Staatsidee Integralistik</em>), in the Indonesian State Establishment Session (1945), by referring to three Western philosophers: Spinoza, Adam Muller, and Hegel. The question from an academic aspect that has not been answered until now is why integralism must be based on these three philosophers and not others, and also why must it start with Spinoza and end with Hegel and not another arrangement? With this philosophical study method, we want to explore why Supomo mentioned the three philosophers in such an arrangement, was it because of chronological or study method reasons? Therefore, there are two possible answers: First, Supomo took the appropriate elements from each philosopher according to the needs to fill the philosophical substance of his integralistic idea, so it is an eclectic method. Second, considering that the three philosophers cannot simply be connected, let alone equated, and supported by the structure of Supomo's speech which is also dialectical, so he uses the dialectical method. The result of this study is that integralism uses the dialectical method with its central idea of religion: Spinoza (<em>thesis</em>) rejects a religious state; Adam Muller (<em>antithesis</em>) accepts a religious state; and Hegel (<em>synthesis</em>) defines co-existence as both, thus recognizing that religion exists in the state but does not have to be a religious state. Hegel's answer is by the <em>optio</em> <em>fundamentalis</em> of Supomo's politics, namely rejecting the Islamic State demanded by Muslims and wanting to build a nation-state that includes all groups.</p>

Transforming Libraries into Inclusive Spaces: The Paradigm and Functions of Living Collection in Academic Library of Indonesia

Objective. This research aims to understand the paradigm underlying the implementation of living collection services and the functions of living collection presented at Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University library. Method. This research uses qualitative methods, with collecting the data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data that has been obtained is then analyzed by performing data reduction. After that, the data is presented in the form of text, images, and tables, followed by drawing conclusions related to the research questions. Result. The research results show that the living collection at Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University library refers to inclusive and knowledge management paradigm. The inclusive paradigm helps libraries strive for the dissemination of information to all users without exception, while the knowledge management paradigm allows libraries to manage and maintain rare information that can be accessed into the future. Living Collection as inclusive service present any functions namely educational, information, preservation, research, and recreational functions. Conclusions. By using an inclusive and knowledge management paradigm, living collections represent many functions that help libraries transforming new face to become inclusive-based libraries that can be enjoyed by all communities.

The Universal Values of Integrity Ūlul Al-Bāb through Work Ethic to Achievement Motivation and Performance of Lecturer at Islamic State University

This research explores the existential role of Ūlul Al-bāb's universal values ​​in improving work ethic, achievement motivation, and performance at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. Using quantitative methods and Partial Least Square-Sequential Equation Model (PLS-SEM) analysis, this research examines the relationship between variables, emphasizing the mediating role of work ethic. Two hundred respondents were selected from a population of 506 permanent lecturers. The research results show a positive and significant relationship between Ūlul Al-bāb values ​​and work ethic and performance, which confirms that internalization of objective, moderate, and transcendental principles can improve the performance of lecturers in the institution. However, the direct relationship with achievement motivation obtained insignificant results. This research also proves that work ethic emerges as an important mediator, connecting Ūlul Al-bāb values ​​with achievement motivation and performance. These findings confirm that a strong work ethic must translate these values ​​into performance improvements. The practical implications include human resource management in higher education.

Give Change A Chance: Lived Experiences Of Moro Rebels Turned Public Servants

The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), formerly known as the New Moro National Liberation Front, is an Islamic separatist organization based in the southern Philippines. It seeks an independent Islamic state or autonomous region for the Filipino Muslim minority, known as the Moro people, who live primarily in the Philippines’ Mindanao region. The MILF is chiefly located in central Mindanao and is the Philippines’ largest separatist group; it is also considered the strongest group in Mindanao (Macasalong 2014). This study delved into the lived experiences of the Moro rebels turned public servants, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) through a qualitative research method. The informants of this study were the ten (10) former or surrendered members of the MNLF or MILF. All informants were subjected to an individual in-depth interview. The findings of this study are described in emergent themes. Seven (7) emergent themes described the positive and negative experiences of the informants as a former Moro rebels to becoming public servant. For the positive experiences, three (3) emergent themes were developed, namely Fulfillment in Serving the Community, Positive Impact on Community Peace, and Societal Recognition and Acceptance. For the negative experiences, four (4) emergent themes were also developed, to wit: Facing Social Judgment and Stigma, Struggling with the New Responsibilities, Adjusting to Bureaucracy and Conflict of Ideals, and Emotional Struggles in Role Transition. Meanwhile, two (2) emergent themes were formulated to explain how the informants address the challenges encountered in the performance of their duties as public servants, namely: Building New Networks and Relationships and Leveraging Past Experiences. Similarly, two (2) emergent themes were formulated to illustrate the strategies employed by the informants to address the problems encountered in the performance of their duties, namely: Seeking Guidance and Support and Emphasizing Communication and Collaboration. Finally, two (2) emergent themes were formulated to described the aspirations of the informants to improve the quality of the performance of their duties as public servants, namely: Enhancing Skills and Education and Improving Community Relations. Based on the emergent themes identified, it is necessary to assist the former Moro rebels in transitioning to civilian life to enhance their overall well-being. A reintegration support program can be implemented to provide vocational training to cultivate a sense of community, resilience, and hope.

The Euro-American Enlightenment has reformed global moral norms. This reform has provoked humanity to rethink many issues that had been normalized but were nevertheless still moral problems (Hallaq 2019). This notion applies to many civilizational aspects, but especially the issue of slavery. Some might question why such an immoral institution was seemingly casually practiced in the past without significant opposition. Not only in a particular society, but it seems that the majority—without wishing to generalize—of societies historically accepted slavery as a normal practice. This is the question that provokes Jonathan Brown to reassess the issue of slavery. In particular, this inquiry was provoked following the declaration in 2014 by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant / the Islamic State in Iraq and al-Sham (ISIL/ISIS) that the reintroduction of concubinage was legitimate. Following this move, for some thetopic of slavery and concubinage came to be identified as a fundamental Islamic teaching.

Transactional leadership for implementing a green campus: Driving sustainable change through effective leadership strategies

This paper explores the role of transactional leadership in implementing green campus initiatives, as long as the strategy, challenge and limitations. As higher education institutions face growing pressure to adopt sustainable practices, effective leadership is paramount. Qualitative research with a case study approach was used to answer research questions. The data in this research is in the form of interviews and documentation at Islamic state universities in Indonesia with the best green campus. Transactional leadership, focusing on clear objectives, rewards, and performance-based management, offers a structured approach to achieving campus environmental sustainability. This paper examines how transactional leadership can be utilized to drive the adoption of green policies, engage stakeholders, and achieve measurable environmental outcomes. One of the key strengths of transactional leadership in green campus initiatives is its ability to provide structure and clarity. Stakeholder participation in green campus initiatives can be encouraged by transactional leadership's emphasis on incentives and rewards. The implementation of green campus projects is greatly aided by transactional leadership, which offers structure, direction, and motivation through rewards and incentives. Higher education institutions must have certain strategies: leadership and vision, stakeholder engangement and collaboration, sustainable education and training, as long as monitoring and evaluation to succeed green campus. However, there are several challenges and limitations to implementing a green campus, such as: budgetary limitaions, infrastructure and technological constraints, cultural and behavioral opposition, complexity and multidisciplinary collaboration, measurement and accountability, managing conflicting priorities, policy and regulatory challenges.

Implementasi Kode Etik Mahasiswa dalam Berbusana di Fakultas Ekonomi dan Ilmu Sosial Universitas Islam Negeri Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau

This research aims to determine the implementation of the student code of ethics in dressing at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, Sultan Syarif Kasim State Islamic University, Riau. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach which is strengthened by the results of interviews. The research results show that female students have received socialization about the dress code of ethics from lecturers when they first entered campus. The dress code of ethics that is most often violated by female students is tucking their clothes into their skirts. The parties who often reprimand students who violate the dress code of ethics are lecturers. Female students who violate the dress code of ethics still do not receive strict sanctions because they still take the form of a verbal warning and are told to go home to change clothes according to the code of ethics.

The use of Artificial Intelligence within the Salafi-Jihadi Ecosystem on Rocket.Chat

During the last decades, Salafi-Jihadi groups have exploited the proliferation of social media to create a persistent and ideologically cohesive presence online. Yet, Salafi-Jihadi individuals connected online to form a new dispersed network of ‘media mujahedeen’ based on loose affiliations, moving from the ‘one-to-many’ to a ‘peer-to-peer’ structure described by Ali Fisher as the Swarmcast Model. The Swarmcast model can be adopted to understand the current media war held by media mujahedeen online. Given this context, experts observed a new centrality of non-institutional media houses, which spread jihadist propaganda and/or produce propaganda content. During the last decade, Telegram was Salafi-Jihadi organizations’ main messaging platform for both institutional and non-institutional media houses. However, in late November 2019, the 16th Referral Action Day coordinated by EUROPOL took place and forced Salafi-Jihadi propaganda operators to adopt what was described by Ali Fisher and Nico Prucha as the Multiplatform Communication Paradigm (MCP) to create a more resilient digital network. Among the messaging platforms, there was Rocket.Chat, which became their primary launchpad and digital safe haven. In late March, inside the Islamic State (IS) server on Rocket.Chat, the first massive use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) was individuated, which was aimed at producing what can be described as a news broadcast in Arabic of IS’s wilayat operations all over the world made by a pro-IS non-institutional media house. The producer inserted all the main characteristics of news broadcasts created through the support of AI. From that day to now, the user posted ten different propaganda videos employing the same production techniques, albeit with some graphic and content differences. Against the backdrop of the evolution of Salafi-Jihadi communication that occurred in the last decades, this paper seeks to illustrate the use of AI inside IS’s server on Rocket.Chat and trace possible countermeasures to prevent using such technologies to produce Salafi-Jihadi propaganda.

The essay provides a thoughtful, stirring reminder of the abiding value of close, critical reading in human rights and humanitarian practice.

What Are The Roles of The Islamic State University Students In Facing 2045 Megatrend?

The world megatrends of 2045 in the form of world demography, global urbanization, international trade, global finance, the middle-income class, competition for natural resources, climate change, technological advances, geopolitical changes, and geoeconomic changes are already happening. So, the duties and responsibilities of Islamic State University are, of course, getting bigger, and students play an essential role in the success of all the agendas and roadmaps formulated by Islamic State University and the government. Therefore, this study aims to examine the role of Islamic State University students in dealing with Megatrend 2045. This study uses a qualitative library method with documentation and content analysis techniques. The results of the study show that students act as agents of change in supporting the adaptation and transformation of Islamic State University, play the role of iron stock to become the next generation of quality, become social control to create a country that is safe and peaceful, and become a moral force to become Islamic State University students with noble character. In conclusion, Islamic State University students can become important actors in the success of government programs in dealing with the 2045 megatrend if they continue to develop their potential and carry out their roles well.

PENGABDIAN DAN PENGAJARAN PENDIDIKAN ANAK USIA DINI DI TK AL-ARHAM DESA NAGORI SILULUH HUTA 3

This research aims to examine the effectiveness of service and teaching carried out by students at the North Sumatra State Islamic University, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, Early Childhood Education Study Program at Al-Arham Kindergarten, Negori Siluluh Huta 3 Sigogar Village. Community service through early childhood education (PIAUD) is a form of academic assistance in improving the quality of elementary level education. This service and teaching activity aims to increase the competency of kindergarten teachers in implementing learning methods that are creative, innovative and appropriate to the developmental needs of early childhood. The program implemented includes teacher training on a scientific approach, which means the learning process has been designed in such a way that students are more active in learning, then there is also game-based learning, as well as strengthening character education in early childhood. Apart from that, counseling is also provided to parents to support children's development at home. The results of this program show an increase in teachers' knowledge and skills in teaching as well as increased collaboration between the school and parents in supporting children's development. The implications of this activity are expected to be able to create a more effective and enjoyable learning environment for children in kindergarten, as well as supporting their holistic development. This research uses a qualitative method using 3 stages in implementing community service activities, namely 1) Observation, 2) Interviews and 3) Data collection.
