Limited McDonaldization as a Success Recipe: An Ethnographic Study of Yili Driving School in Jinan, China

Current corporate culture studies mainly emphasize the management and motivation of employees within an enterprise, while little consideration is taken of the interaction between the enterprise, employees and customers. Based on an ethnographic study of Yili Driving School in Jinan, this article explores the success recipe of service-oriented enterprises. It argues that the success of the driving school can be attributed to its corporate culture of limited McDonaldization, consisting of two contradictory but coexisting models, i.e. a rationalized and standardized management model and a relational and emotional work model, in which corporate management, employees and consumers are all involved. So far as the driving school is concerned, the school administrators, coaches and students selectively use cultural resources to adopt different action strategies which enable the participants of the corporate culture to achieve a win-win situation. This study highlights not only the McDonaldized management of the enterprise, but also the mechanism of emotional cultivation between the driving school, instructors and trainees. The result of this study is hoped to contribute to research on corporate culture and enterprise anthropology by breaking with the previous approaches from within the company.

Clinical and surgical effectiveness of the multi-disciplinary standardized management model in the treatment of retroperitoneal liposarcoma: Evidence-based clinical practice experience from Fudan Zhongshan

BackgroundTo assess the correlation between clinical outcomes and diagnostic accuracy of evaluations carried out by a preoperative multidisciplinary team versus standard surgical care for patients with retroperitoneal liposarcoma undergoing surgery. MethodsThis comparative study was conducted retrospectively at a specialist assessment center within Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, China, between April 2011 and March 2021. Patients were assigned to a multidisciplinary team or nonmultidisciplinary team cohort based on referral to the multidisciplinary team. The primary outcome measured was long-term clinical prognosis, with other outcomes including diagnostic accuracy, 30-day reoperation, duration of stay, perioperative mortality, and medical complications. To mitigate selection bias, we conducted propensity-score matching. Uni- and multivariable Cox proportional hazard models were then used to evaluate the effect of multidisciplinary teams on postoperative survival. The previously specified questionnaire was used to measure the enhancement of awareness and treatment adherence facilitated by multidisciplinary team management. Data analysis was carried out between January 2023 and August 2023. ResultsOf the 521 records that were screened, 139 patients were deemed eligible for inclusion and defined as the multidisciplinary team cohort. At the same time, 382 patients without multidisciplinary team management were also included during that period and defined as the nonmultidisciplinary team cohort. The multidisciplinary team cohort exhibited lower numbers of primary retroperitoneal liposarcoma but a higher tumor grade and a greater proportion of R2 resection. After propensity-score matching, the 1-, 3-, and 5-year overall survival rates were 89.5%, 70.5%, and 62.9%, respectively, in the multidisciplinary team cohort, and 77.1%, 49.8%, and 45.1% in the nonmultidisciplinary team cohort. The diagnostic consistency of the multidisciplinary team group was significantly superior to that of the nonmultidisciplinary cohort (92.5% vs 83.6%, P = .042). Although no significant links were shown with duration of stay (P = .232) and 30-day reoperation (P = .447), the multidisciplinary team participation was linked to a substantial decrease in perioperative mortality (P = .036) and postoperative complications (P = .002). Additionally, the multidisciplinary team group indicated stronger illness awareness and postoperative adherence among individuals with retroperitoneal liposarcoma. ConclusionThe study’s findings indicate that multidisciplinary team management could result in improved clinical outcomes, higher diagnostic accuracy, and reduced duration of postoperative stays, complications, and perioperative mortality. The intervention may also enhance disease awareness and postoperative compliance in retroperitoneal liposarcoma patients who undergo surgery. However, evidence quality was deemed low, and prospective studies with robust designs are required. Nonetheless, these results are worth considering.

Application of standardized management and effect evaluation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients using the big data center of the Internet of Things.

Early detection, diagnosis, treatment and management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease can lower morbidity and perhaps mortality. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of the application of standardized management against the background of the rapid development of the big data center of modern internet of things technology. Participants ≥40 years of age with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease presenting at Xiamen Medical College Affiliated Haicang Hospital from October 2019 to October 2020 were selected as the observation patients based on the Internet of Things big data center for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease standardized management, and control patients from the community were selected for without down to the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease standardized management. Follow-up after 2 years of patient health records and acute episodes using the World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire-Brief version to evaluate the quality of life of the two groups revealed differences. The results of comparative analysis of the number of acute attacks before and after follow-up in the observation and control groups after propensity score matching showed that the decrease in acute episodes before and after in the observation group was significant compared with that in the control group (t = -3.664, P < 0.001). The quality of life of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients indicated that the effect in the observation group was greater than that in the control group according to the World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire-Brief version. In this study, we analyzed the application of modern internet of things technology in the management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients, discussed the effect of standardized management, and promoted the self-management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients. The effectiveness and continuity of the standardized management model for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease implemented in Xiamen city based on the internet of things big data center were considered true and effective.

Application of Research-Based Quality Control Circle in Setting a New Management Model and Complete Standardized Care for Continuous Bladder Irrigation After TURP

Objective: To explore the application of research-based quality control circle in setting a new standardized nursing management model for continuous bladder irrigation after transurethral resection of prostate (TURP) surgery, and to provide theoretical basis and evidence-based support for standardizing the nursing management model of continuous bladder irrigation after TURP in the Department of Urology. Methods: A quality control circle was established, focusing on the existing common problems of continuous bladder irrigation. The methods include implementing appropriate measures and other steps, and comparing the incidences of bladder spasms and urinary catheter obstruction, patient satisfaction, nurses’ awareness of relevant knowledge, nurses’ operational satisfaction, number of liquid pours (6000ml per flush), and number of open exposures before and after the activity. Results: Through this quality control circle activity, the incidence of bladder spasms in patients dropped from 42% to 14.3%; the incidence of urinary catheter obstruction dropped from 36% to 12.2%; patient satisfaction increased from 82% to 95.9%; nurses’ knowledge awareness rate increased from 74.2% to 96.8%; nurses’ operational satisfaction increased from 80.6% to 96.8%; the above differences are statistically significant (P &lt; 0.05). Moreover, the number of flushing liquid pours reduced from 5 times to 1 time, and the number of open exposures reduced from 5 times to 0 times. Circle members have improved their application of quality control circle methods, team spirit, and professional knowledge. Conclusion: The research-based quality control circle is suitable for setting a new standardized nursing management model for continuous bladder irrigation after TURP.

Institutional features of organizational transformation of transport companies

The companies encompassed by transport industry need to closely follow the trends of modern business organization, to reorganize their structure in a timely manner and to set new algorithms for internal organization of business processes. The relevance of the research is conditioned by the acceleration of the pace of life in general and specifically – the pace of transformation taking place in the transport sector in particular. The purpose of the study is elaboration of approaches to building a new forward-looking transformational development strategy for a transport company. The object of the research is the standardized strategic management model. The key methods used in the work are analysis, synthesis, generalization and modelling at the basic level. The key result of the work is primary development of new prospective institutional structure of business organization of transport companies, which is universal for various transport sectors and at the same time can be easily replicated by consulting firms in other areas of activity. An important aspect of the research is justification of compulsory institutional and legal elaboration of a new organizational form of business through consistent implementation of innovations in the permanent structure of tactical organization of the transport business.

Implementation of the "awakening and breathing trials, choice of drugs, delirium management, and early exercise/mobility" bundle in the pediatric intensive care unit of tertiary hospitals in southwestern China: a cross-sectional survey.

ObjectiveTo investigate management and implementation of the “awakening and breathing trials, choice of drugs, delirium management, and early exercise/mobility” (ABCDE) bundle in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) in southwestern ChinaMethodsA self-designed questionnaire for determining implementation of the ABCDE bundle was distributed to healthcare professionals in the PICU. Multiple linear regression was used to analyze results.ResultsA total of 270 questionnaires were collected. There was no significant difference in the awareness of the ABCDE bundle rate among Sichuan, Guizhou, and Yunnan workers. Only dynamic adjustment of drug dose accounted for more than half (55.5%) of “frequent implementation” and “general implementation”, followed by implementation of sedation assessment, pain assessment, and spontaneous breathing trials (46.4%, 39.3%, and 35.6%, respectively). A total of 80.4% of healthcare professionals never performed screening of delirium. Multivariate analysis showed that the healthcare professionals’ scores of ABCDE bundle behavior significantly differed regarding awareness of the ABCDE bundle, years of work at the hospital, the region of hospitals, and occupational category.ConclusionImplementation of the ABCDE bundle in the PICU in southwestern China is not sufficient. Existing problems need to be identified and a standardized sedation and analgesia management model needs to be established.

Construction and study of standardized nursing management model for hypoglycemia in diabetic inpatients

Objective To establish a standardized nursing management model for hypoglycemia in diabetic inpatients and observe its application effects. Methods Totally 9 251 diabetic patients hospitalized in People's Hospital of Zhengzhou between January and December 2017 were selected into the control group, while another 9 636 diabetic patients hospitalized in People's Hospital of Zhengzhou between January and December 2018 were selected into the observation group by cluster sampling. Patients in the control group received routine care and glycemic management. In 2018, in conjunction with the glycemic monitoring system, we established a diabetes education management team and developed a standardized nursing management process for hypoglycemia, which was promoted throughout the hospital to improve the level of hypoglycemic control among nurses throughout the hospital. Patients in the observation group received care and glycemic control using the standardized nursing management model for hypoglycemia and glycemic control. The incidence of hypoglycemia, glycemic fluctuations, and nurses' knowledge of hypoglycemia before and after implementation were compared between the two groups. Results The incidence of hypoglycemia in the observation group was lower than that in the control group [7.51% (724/9 636) vs. 18.30% (1 693/9 251) ], and the difference was statistically significant (χ2=492.7, P<0.001) . The observation group's average blood glucose value (GluAve) , daily mean amplitude of glycemic excursions (MAGE) , glycemic instability index (GLI) , and glycemic coefficient of variation (GluCV) were all lower than the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (t=-18.121, -53.788, -34.362, -61.794; P<0.01) . After the implementation of the standardized management model for hypoglycemia in 2018, the total score dimensional scores of the nurses' knowledge about hypoglycemia were higher than those before the implementation of the standardized nursing process for hypoglycemia in 2017, and the differences were all statistically (t=15.439, 66.542, 73.320, 14.565, 36.101, 34.664; P<0.01) . Conclusions The standardized nursing management model for hypoglycemia can reduce the incidence of hypoglycemia as well as fluctuations of the patients, improve the level of nurses' knowledge of hypoglycemia, and make the patients' glycemic control safer. Bibliometric analysis of home enteral nutrition in China

Objective To analyze the current status of studies related to home enteral nutrition (HEN) in China, and provide scientific basis for the research and management of HEN in China. Methods We searched CNKI and WanFang Data since it built to January 1st, 2018. The included studies were screened and categorized by publication information, study type, subjects of the study, topic, interventions and outcomes. Descriptive analysis was conducted after extraction of information. Results A total of 153 studies were included, of which 37 were observational studies, 102 were experimental studies, 12 were case report, and 2 were exploring articles. Since 2012, the number of studies has been increasing. Most of the subjects were elderly people who were diagnosed with diseases of digestive system, head and neck tumors and diseases of nervous system. These studies were featured as small sample size and short intervention time, follow-ups by telephone and home visit, less than 1/4 providing professional nutrition support team, and outcomes mainly as complication, nutritional biochemical indices, anthropometric indices and prognosis. Conclusion HEN in China is still in its infancy. The number of relative studies is still small and quality of literatures is very low, but it has been increasing. At present, there are some problems in the implementation of HEN in China, such as lack of standardized management model and professional team, short-term intervention, and single follow-up mode. The elderly and patients with digestive disease, head and neck tumors and nervous disease are the key subjects; more professional nutrition support team and scientific management model should be established in the future. A standardized crisis management model for self-harming and suicidal individuals with three or more diagnostic criteria of borderline personality disorder: The Brief Admission Sk\xe5ne randomized controlled trial protocol (BASRCT)

BackgroundBrief Admission is a crisis and risk management strategy in which self-harming and suicidal individuals with three or more diagnostic criteria of borderline personality disorder self-admit to hospital at times of increasing risk when other efforts to stay safe are failing. Standardized in the current randomized controlled trial, the intensity of Brief Admission Skåne is implemented in durations of three days, with a maximum frequency of three times a month. Brief Admission is integrated into existing treatment plans in advance of crises to prevent reliance on general psychiatric admissions for risk management, as these may be lengthy, unstructured, and of uncertain therapeutic value.Methods/designThe overall objective of the Brief Admission Skåne randomized controlled trial is to determine if Brief Admission can replace general psychiatric admission for self-harming and suicidal individuals with complex mental illness at times of escalating risk. Other objectives of the study are to evaluate whether Brief Admission increases daily functioning and enhances coping, reduces psychiatric symptoms including frequency and severity of self-harm and suicidal behaviours. A final objective is to determine if Brief Admission is an effective crisis management model for this population. Participants are randomized at an individual level to either Brief Admission Skåne plus Treatment as Usual or Treatment As Usual. Based on a priori power analyses, N = 124 participants will be recruited to the study. Data collection is in progress, and will continue until June 2018. All participant data are single-blinded and will be handled with intention-to-treat analysis.DiscussionBased on the combined clinical experience of our international research group, the Brief Admission Skåne randomized controlled trial upon which the current protocol is based represents the first initiative to standardize, implement and evaluate Brief Admission amongst self-harming and suicidal individuals, including those with borderline traits. Objectively measuring protocol fidelity and developing English-language Brief Admission study protocols and training materials are implementation and dissemination targets developed in order to facilitate adherent international export of Brief Admission Skåne.Trial registrationNCT02985047. Investigation on the mental health of twin pregnancy women during pregnancy period

Objective To investigate the mental health state of twin pregnancy women and influencing factors, so as to provide reference for measures to improve their mental condition. Methods Sixty twin pregnancy women who have made regular antenatal examination received the investigation of Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) and self-designed questionnaire. Results The score of SAS for twin pregnancy women was (52.87±10.19) points , SDS was (50.61±4.31) points. There were significant differences in twin pregnancy women degree of anxiety with different age, gestational weeks, and pregnancy way and degree of depression with different gestational weeks, pregnancy way and abortion, reproductive history (F/t=12.74-54.93,P < 0.05 or 0.01). Regression analysis showed that gestational weeks and pregnancy way were the main factors of anxiety and depression influencing twin pregnancy women. Conclusions The anxiety state of twin pregnancy women is in a moderate level, and the depression is mild. It is influenced by the factors of gestational weeks and pregnancy way. Some aspects should be improved: such as strengthen psychological care, establish standardized management model, twin pregnancy women are encouraged to self-control, the use of high qualification by social and family support system, and so on. Improve Responsibility Cost Management Level of Construction Enterprise by Information System

In order to survive in the fierce market competition, construction enterprise must be able to provide high quality and low cost building products. The cost management level of enterprise determines its ability to obtain economic benefits. The responsibility cost management mode that involves everyone participation could enhance management level of enterprises. To eliminate internal information island and information asymmetry, information should communicate between each cost management department. The responsibility cost management model of internal information circulation covers the whole process of project, the cost of project could be reflected timely and accurately, the sufficient information could provide support for every manager decision, then the effectiveness and overall level of responsibility cost management could be enhanced. Thus, with the help of information system, construction enterprise could form a scientific and standardized management model.

The effect of transient ischemic attack clinical pathway.

Clinical pathway (CP) of transient ischemic attack (TIA) is an interdisciplinary, comprehensive, standardized management model for medical care of TIA. It aims to standardize the procedure, reduce the cost, and improve the quality of medical care. However, its effect is still unclear. To evaluate the effect of TIA CP and provide evidence for control of medical care cost, optimize the structure of hospital cost, and make best use of medical resource. 112 patients in the CP group and 179 patients in the nonclinical pathway (NCP) group were included in this nonconcurrent cohort study. The average length of stay was 9.55 ± 3.89 days in the NCP group, and it was 7.26 ± 2.09 days in the CP group. The average length of stay was significantly shortened by 2.29 days. Hospital cost in the CP group significantly increased by 7.9% (868 yuan) compared with that in the NCP group. The proportion of medication cost significantly decreased by 5%, while the proportion of examination cost significantly increased by 8%. As for the clinical outcomes of patients with TIA, 98.21% of the patients in the CP group were discharged in a good condition, while the proportion was 97.77% in the NCP group, and no significant difference was found between the improvement rate of the two groups. Eight patients (4%) in the NCP group were admitted to the hospital because of a 30-day recurrent TIA or cerebral infarction; four of them had cerebral infarction, whereas no recurrent TIA or cerebral infarction was found in the CP group at the 30-day follow-up. Implementation of TIA CP could reduce the length of stay, the proportion of medication cost, and optimize the structure of hospital expense, thus making best use of medical resources and improve the quality of TIA medical care.

Application and effect of standardized management model of quality control in neurosurgery

Objective To discuss the methods and effect of structuring standardized management model and to search the strict quality control method of first class nursing quality in order to provide reference bases for improving the quality of nursing and ensuring nursing security.Methods We formatted a first class nursing control group and formulated standardized quality control methods.Then a reasonable supervisory mechanism was established and we used the hierarchical management mode to inspect the nursing quality per week and per month.In the end,through summary feedback and tracking ways,the quality of nursing was well controlled.Results By comparison,there were significant differences between first class nursing quality and third class nursing quality,nurses defect under standardized management mode improved to 59.60％,and it was significantly different compared to the result in 2009 ( 33.65％ ) ( x2 =5.35,P ＜ 0.05 ).The punishment rate decreased to 0.55％,it was obviously lower than the results surveyed in 2009 ( 11.22％ ) ( x2 =53.49,P ＜0.05).Conclusions First class nursing standardized quality control methods is a seamless management that can help to continuously improve the quality of nursing and ensure the nursing safety. Effectiveness of a multi‐disciplinary standardized management model in the treatment of chronic hepatitis C in drug addicts engaged in detoxification programmes

To evaluate the effect of a multi-disciplinary standardized management model on the efficacy of pegylated (Peg)-interferon alpha-2b plus ribavirin treatment of chronic hepatitis C in drug addicts undergoing substitutive or antagonist therapy. Observational prospective multi-centre study. Six clinical infectious disease centres in collaboration with 11 drug dependency units (DDU) in five Italian regions. Intravenous drug users affected by chronic hepatitis C engaged in detoxification programmes. Application of a multi-disciplinary standardized management model for HCV treatment involving DDU operators, psychologists or psychiatrists and infectious disease specialists. Very early, early, end-of-treatment and sustained virological response to Peg-interferon alpha-2b plus ribavirin. Fifty-three subjects were studied [43.4% with hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotypes 1 or 4]. Intent-to-treat analysis showed an end-of-treatment virological response in 58.5% of patients (39.1% genotypes 1 or 4; 73.4% genotype 3) and a sustained virological response in 54.7% (34.8% genotypes 1 or 4; 70.0% genotype 3). There were 19 (35.8%) dropouts and three (5.7%) non-responders: one genotype 1 and two genotype 4. Two (3.8%) patients relapsed: genotypes 1 and 3. On-treatment analysis showed negative HCV-RNA in 40 (93.1%) of 43 subjects who completed the first 12 treatment weeks and in 35 who completed the first 24 treatment weeks. All subjects with an end-of-treatment response, except one with genotype 3 infection, had a sustained response. Our data show that antiviral treatment in the context of a multi-disciplinary standardized management model helps many HCV-positive drug addicts achieve a good virological response.

학위논문의 유통현황 및 관리시스템 분석

학위논문은 석박사 과정의 학생들이 학위를 취득할 목적으로 자신의 전공분야와 특정 관점에서 조사 연구한 결과를 제출한 독창성이 높은 연구자료를 말한다. 그러나 학위논문은 상업출판사에서 발간하지 않기 때문에 대다수 도서관도 책자형태로 확보할 수 없다. 이에 따른 실물의 즉시적 이용가능성 및 내용정보의 부재현상은 모든 국가에서 학위논문의 활용도가 극히 낮을 수밖에 없는 요인으로 작용하고 있다. 이러한 상황에 주목하여 본 연구는 학위논문의 국제적 유통현황을 개관하고 국내의 관리시스템을 조사 분석하였다. 그리고 본 연구의 결과는 후속의 최종과제인 국내 학위논문의 표준관리모형을 개발하는데 활용될 것이다. Theses and dissertations are works embodying results of original research on a subject and substantiating a particular point of view by usually graduate students, as a degree requirement. Most theses and dissertations are not controlled by commercial publishing interests, and thus are not obtained in book-form by most libraries. Due to their lack of physical and ready availability and information about the contents, theses and dissertations have been extremely underutilized sources of information without distinction of nations. The goal of this paper is to provide the current informations on the distribution and management systems of theses and dissertations in Foreign and Korea. The findings of this study will provide the basis for developing an standardized management model of theses and dissertations that meets the needs of researchers, students, and librarians in Korea.
