This study provides a comprehensive knowledge of vocational education employability skills research conducted from 2004 to 2024. 1545 documents were downloadedfrom the Web of Science database for the study.Utilizing Citespace, a powerful bibliometric and visual analytical tool, the study was designed to reveal key trends, influential authors, seminal publications and emerging themes in the field. Data was carefully collected from the leading academic database, Web of Science, thus ensuring a robust analytical framework. Through co-citation and keyword analysis,to explore the trends in the research topic in recent years, to identify the main areas of research activity, to explore the evolutionary stages of the profession as well as the main dynamics of the current stage, and to better prepare for the development of relevant strategies in the future. This study informs researchers by providing basic background knowledge about employability skills for visual and quantitative research. Thus, this approach allows for the observation of research gaps and deeper academic discussions on employability skills in higher vocational education. The study demonstrates the hotspots and trends in research on employability skills in higher vocational education, which are discussed and summarized in the hope that it can give more inspiration to the researchers behind.

Tracing magmatic footprints: Influence of a CO2-rich melt on the mineral assemblage of the San José del Guaviare Syenite, SE Colombia

A combined optical and electron microscopy (SEM, EDS, and EPMA) study was conducted on ten rock samples from the Proterozoic San José del Guaviare Syenite (SJGS), southeastern Colombia, to utilize minor and trace minerals in interpreting the magmatic evolution of these silica undersaturated rocks. The major minerals of the sampled syenites are nepheline, Fe-rich clinopyroxene, amphibole, alkali feldspar, and biotite. The minor minerals are titanite, calcite, cancrinite, and sodalite. Trace minerals are the niobium- or rare earth element-rich minerals pyrochlore, columbite, euxenite, britholite, ancylite-Ce and wöhlerite. Apatite, rhodochrosite, strontianite, fluorite, zircon, magnetite, ilmenite, and pyrite occur as traces as well. Crystallization started with primary (magmatic) calcite and Nb-rich minerals pyrochlore, columbite, euxenite, and a first generation of apatite, which occur as inclusions in foids, feldspars, and Fe-rich clinopyroxenes. Calcite is enriched in light rare earth elements and Sr, with low Mg concentrations, while primary apatite has high Sr concentrations. Both minerals have a composition typical for minerals crystallized in carbonatites. The presence of calcite and high Fe and low Ti clinopyroxene point to CO2-saturated conditions. During cooling, fluorbritholite-Ce formed as individual grains or by a fluid-enhanced apatite-britholite transformation. The formation of Fe-rich amphibole, often at the expense of Fe-rich clinopyroxene, reveals a decreasing influence of CO2 and temperature. Presumably, the transformation of orthoclase into microcline occurred simultaneously. Perthitic microcline as a second K-feldspar generation indicates slow cooling from high temperatures. A late stage of CO2-rich hydrothermal-metasomatic processes is suggested by the growth of secondary cancrinite, Sr-Mn carbonates and ancylite-Ce. The composition of primary and early crystallized calcite and apatite makes their origin as residues of an early segregated or independently formed mantle-derived carbonatitic melt more likely than crystallization from a CO2-rich syenitic melt. An origin from melted crustal carbonates is unlikely as well. Therefore, the presence of a carbonatitic melt at an early magmatic evolutive stage, as opposed to a non-carbonatitic melt at a late stage, seems possible for the SJGS rocks.

Effect of crack depth on the initiation and propagation of crack-induced sliding in a paleosol area on a loess slope: Three-dimensional investigation based on model testing and laser scanning

On the Chinese Loess Plateau (CLP), crack-induced sliding in paleosols triggers retrogressive slope collapse, compromising the long-term stability of loess slopes. Establishing a quantitative relationship between crack depth and slide size is key to elucidating the progressive evolution of crack-induced sliding in paleosols; however, research on this topic is scarce. In this study, a model test was conducted on a paleosol slope subjected to five drying–rainfall cycles. Three-dimensional (3D) laser scanning technology was employed to accurately quantify the variations in crack depth and slide size, and water content sensors were embedded to monitor the preferential flow changes induced by these cracks. Results reveal that crack depth plays a pivotal role in initiating and controlling the propagation of crack-induced sliding in paleosols by influencing the preferential flow capacity through cracks. In the slide initiation stage, a critical crack depth capable of triggering sliding by inducing a sufficiently significant preferential flow and large saturation zones was identified. The depth at which sliding occurs can be expressed as a variable dependent on crack depth based on the single triggering effect of cracking on sliding. Once a crack-induced slide is initiated, the combined action of prior sliding events and current crack propagation accelerates the subsequent sliding in terms of increased size and varying spatial locations by influencing the preferential flow capacity and sliding force values. A comprehensive empirical formula was established to characterize the depth of crack-induced slides, considering the dominant influence of crack depth and slope gradient on sliding development at this stage of slide evolution. Our findings emphasize the pivotal role of crack depth in triggering progressive crack-induced sliding in paleosols, thereby providing valuable insights for soil conservation in paleosol areas on loess slopes on the CLP.

Differential Evaluation of Ecological Resilience in 45 Cities along the Yangtze River in China: A New Multidimensional Analysis Framework

The rapid pace of urbanization and global climate change necessitates a thorough assessment of urban ecological resilience to cultivate sustainable regional ecosystem development. Cities along the Yangtze River face an intensifying conflict between ecological preservation and socio-economic growth. Analyzing the ecological resilience of these urban centers is essential for achieving equilibrium in regional urban ecosystems. This study proposes a “system process space” attribute analysis framework, taking into account urban development processes, ecosystem structure, and resilience evolution stages. Utilizing data from 45 Yangtze River cities, we establish a “Driver, Pressure, State, Impact, and Response” (DPSIR) evaluation index system to evaluate changes in ecological resilience levels and evolution trends from 2011 to 2022. Our findings indicate that: (1) The ecological resilience index of Yangtze River cities increased from 0.177 to 0.307 between 2011 and 2022, progressing through three phases: ecological resilience construction, rapid development, and stable development. (2) At the city level, ecological resilience along the Yangtze River exhibits uneven development characteristics. Upstream cities display a significant “stepped” pattern, midstream cities exhibit a significant “Matthew effect”, and downstream cities present a pyramid-shaped pattern. While regional differences in ecological resilience persist, overall polarization is gradually decreasing, intercity connections are strengthening, and there is a growing focus on coordinated regional development. (3) The spatial distribution of ecological resilience in Yangtze River cities demonstrates both continuity and evolution, generally forming a “core-edge” clustered pattern. Based on these findings, we recommend enhancing inter-city cooperation and connectivity, addressing imbalances in urban ecological resilience, and promoting high-quality ecological resilience development along the Yangtze River through tailored development strategies for each city.

Unraveling the polymetamorphism of calc-silicate rocks from 639 to 561 Ma in the Western Gondwana (Passo Feio Complex, Dom Feliciano Belt, South Brazil) based on U-Pb dating in titanite, apatite and zircon

Titanite is a valuable tool for studying polymetamorphism and understanding the evolution of orogenic belts as it potentially records different stages of metamorphic evolution. The combination of geochronology and Zr-in-titanite geothermometry has been widely used in petrochronology studies. However, there is ongoing debate regarding the significance of ages and temperatures obtained from titanite. Here, we conducted the first integrated titanite, zircon, and apatite UPb study, along with Zr-in-titanite geothermometry, on calc-silicate rocks from a polymetamorphic complex of the central Dom Feliciano Belt (Western Gondwana). Our aim was to investigate the impact of various metamorphic events on titanite grains. We carried out a geochronological, geochemical, and petrographic analysis of a calc-silicate sequence of the Passo Feio Complex, which was intruded by the Caçapava do Sul Granitic Complex (CSGC). The metamorphic complex experienced regional, contact, and hydrothermal metamorphism during the Neoproterozoic, but the ages and conditions of these metamorphic events remain widely debated. UPb analyses on over one hundred titanite grains from a K-feldspar-diopside schist revealed three distinct titanite populations. The older group, dated at 639 ± 3/7 Ma (2s; n = 19), was associated with the regional metamorphism event (M1), likely initiated by the primary collision of the Dom Feliciano Belt. The intermediate group exhibited an age of 596 ± 1/6 Ma (2s; n = 91). Given the presence of high-K magmatism and a carbonatite intrusion in the study area, producing zircon UPb ages around 600 Ma, this group was associated with contact metamorphism (M2), belike influenced by these intrusive igneous activities. The youngest titanite population showed an age of 566 ± 3/6 Ma (2s; n = 6), which closely aligns, within analytical error, with the age of 561 ± 1/6 Ma (2s; n = 46) obtained from UPb dating on apatite sourced from a diopside-phlogopite schist. The younger ages observed in both titanite and apatite are attributed to alterations resulting from interactions with hydrothermal fluids (M3) during the cooling phase of the CSGC. Chemical analyses conducted with an electron microprobe assessed the Zr concentrations in fifty titanite grains, examining both bright and dark zones observed in back-scattered electron images. The lowest temperature recorded among the 50 grains was 629 °C, which corresponds to dark BSE zones. In the light zones, the minimum temperature was 639 °C. While temperatures estimated using the Zr content in titanite may not correspond precisely with UPb ages, combining titanite ages with those from other accessory minerals like zircon and apatite, along with microstructural analysis, can provide a more comprehensive understanding of orogenic belt evolution.

Contrasting fracturing and cementation timings during shale gas accumulation and preservation: An example from the Wufeng-Longmaxi shales in the Fuling shale gas field, Sichuan Basin, China

The marine shales in southern China are characterized by high thermal evolution and intensive deformation during multistage burial and uplift. Fracturing and cementation, associated with tectonic activity, diagenesis, hydrocarbon generation and migration processes, are widely and variably distributed in shale reservoirs experiencing different tectonic evolution. In this study, we utilized cross-cutting relationships, fluid inclusion microthermometry, and laser Raman spectroscopy of fluid inclusions, along with U-Pb dating of fracture-filling calcite veins, integrated with burial history modeling, to elucidate the timing and mechanism of fracturing in the Paleozoic Wufeng-Longmaxi shale reservoir, as well as regional variations in the Fuling shale gas field. Bedding-parallel fractures (BFs) in shale reservoirs are filled with calcite and quartz veins. The timing of fracturing, as determined by minimum homogenization temperatures and U-Pb dating, is estimated to have occurred during ca. 191 -122 Ma, during which some short vertical (or high-angle) fractures (VFs) opened around 163.4 Ma and 137 Ma, subsequently sealed by calcite veins, respectively. All calcite and quartz veins within these fractures contain high-density methane inclusions, while shale reservoirs were in a high-over-mature evolutionary stage. This suggests that fracturing was primarily driven by gas generation overpressure during deep burial. In shale reservoirs near fault belt folds, multistage fractures developed, including three stages of intersecting fractures (IFs) and one-stage of long VFs. The timing of fracturing and cementation corresponds to the Yanshanian tectonic uplift (ca. 83 - 69 Ma) with intense tectonic movement likely being the direct cause of fracture opening. The presence of abundant gas inclusions in veins recorded shale gas expulsion during rapid tectonic uplift, reflecting the destruction of shale gas preservation conditions. In contrast, no significant fracturing or cementation processes have been observed in the tectonically gentle zones. The different fracturing and cementation processes indicated that preservation conditions declined with increased fracture openings during uplift, correlating with the gas enrichment.

Research on the strength influence and crack evolution law of layered backfill based on macro and meso mechanical response

This article analyzes the effects of inclined angle (IA), filling times (FTs) and cement tailings ratio (CTR) on the uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) and crack development law of layered cemented backfill (LCB) using various research methods, including indoor experiments, numerical simulation, and computed tomography (CT) scanning. The research shows: (1) In the indoor experiments, it was observed that increasing the IA, increasing the number of FTs, and decreasing the CTR had a significant weakening effect on the UCS of the specimens. The greater the IA, the more pronounced the separation and dislocation of the layered contact surface, resulting in a significant increase in macroscopic cracks at the bottom. As the FTs increases, the center of gravity of the failure of the LCB gradually moves downwards. This causes the damage and failure time to advance, and the peak stress to change from one main crack to multiple main cracks. (2) During the numerical simulation, compressive stress accumulates and increases around the pores in the layered contact surface. Microcrack aggregation occurs on the contact surface, and downward expansion and extension. The peak strain energy decreases as the IA increases with the FTs. The number of shear cracks increased more at 20° to 30° than at 0° to 20°. The strain energy of the 0° specimen is the highest, while that of the 30° specimen is the lowest. (3) The CT scan shows that the LCB is affected by stress conduction hysteresis. When the bottom backfill is in the stage of crack evolution, the top backfill is in the stage of compaction.When the LCB reaches the peak stress, both the bottom and middle layers of the backfill lose load-bearing capacity, and the top layer of the backfill has no cracks. This paper provides reference value and research ideas for the destruction of backfill that contain layered defective structures.

Multiband Analysis of Strong Gravitationally Lensed Post-blue Nugget Candidates from the Kilo-degree Survey

During the early stages of galaxy evolution, a significant fraction of galaxies undergo a transitional phase between the “blue nugget” systems, which arise from the compaction of large, active star-forming disks, and the “red nuggets,” which are red and passive compact galaxies. These objects are typically only observable with space telescopes, and detailed studies of their size, mass, and stellar population parameters have been conducted on relatively small samples. Strong gravitational lensing can offer a new opportunity to study them in detail, even with ground-based observations. In this study, we present the first six bona fide samples of strongly lensed post-blue nugget (pBN) galaxies, which were discovered in the Kilo Degree Survey. By using the lensing-magnified luminosity from optical and near-infrared bands, we have derived robust structural and stellar population properties of the multiple images of the background sources. The pBN galaxies have very small sizes of R eff < 1.3 kpc, high mass density inside 1 kpc of log(Σ1/M⊙kpc−2)>9.3 , and low specific star formation rates of log(sSFRGyr-1)≲0 , The size–mass and Σ1–mass relations of this sample are consistent with those of the red nuggets, while their sSFR is close to the lower end of compact star-forming blue nugget systems at the same redshift, suggesting a clear evolutionary link between them.

Simulated analogues I: apparent and physical evolution of young binary protostellar systems

ABSTRACT Protostellar binaries harbour complex environment morphologies. Observations represent a snapshot in time, and projection and optical depth effects impair our ability to interpret them. Careful comparison with high-resolution models that include the larger star-forming region can help isolate the driving physical processes and give context in the time domain to the observations. We carry out four zoom-in simulations with au scale resolution that result in three binaries and a single star. For the first time ever, we follow the detailed evolution of a protobinary in a full molecular cloud context until a circumbinary disc forms. We investigate the gas dynamics around the young stars and extract disc sizes. Using radiative transfer, we obtain the evolutionary tracer Tbol of the binary systems. We find that the centrifugal radius in prestellar cores is a poor estimator of the resulting disc size due to angular momentum transport at all scales. For binaries, the disc sizes are regulated periodically by the binary orbit, having larger radii close to the apastron. The bolometric temperature differs systematically between edge-on and face-on views and shows a high-frequency time dependence correlated with the binary orbit and a low-frequency time dependence with larger episodic accretion events. These oscillations can cause the appearance of the system to change rapidly from class 0 to class I and, for short periods, even bring it to class II. The highly complex structure in early stages, as well as the binary orbit itself, affects the classical interpretation of protostellar classes, and the direct translation to evolutionary stages has to be done with caution and include other evolutionary indicators such as the extent of envelope material.

An empirical isochrone archive for nearby open clusters

Context. The ages of star clusters and co-moving stellar groups contain essential information about the Milky Way. Their special properties and placement throughout the galactic disk make them excellent tracers of galactic structure and key components to unlocking its star formation history. Yet, even though the importance of stellar population ages has been widely recognized, their determination remains a challenging task often associated with highly model-dependent and uncertain results. Aims. We propose a new approach to this long-standing problem, which relies on empirical isochrones of known clusters extracted from high-quality observational data. These purely observation-based data products open up the possibility of relative age determination, free of stellar evolution model assumptions. Methods. For the derivation of the empirical isochrones, we used a combination of the statistical analysis tool principal component analysis for preprocessing and the supervised machine learning method support vector regression for curve extraction. To improve the statistical reliability of our result, we defined the empirical isochrone of a color-magnitude diagram (CMD) of a cluster as the median calculated from a set of nboot = 1000 curves derived from bootstrapped data. The algorithm requires no physical priors, is computationally fast, and can easily be generalized over a large range of CMD combinations and evolutionary stages of clusters. Results. We provide empirical isochrones in all Gaia DR2 and DR3 color combinations for 83 nearby clusters (d &lt; 500 pc), which cover an estimated age range of 7 Myr to 3 Gyr. In doing so, we pave the way for a relative comparison between individual stellar populations based on an age-scaling ladder of empirical isochrones of known clusters. Furthermore, due to the exceptional precision of the available observational data, we report accurate lower main sequence empirical isochrones for many clusters in our sample, which are of special interest as this region is known to be especially complex to model. We validate our method and results by comparing the extracted empirical isochrones to cluster ages in the literature. We also investigate the added information that empirical isochrones covering the lower main sequence can provide on case studies of the IC 4665 cluster and the Meingast 1 stream. Conclusions. The archive of empirical isochrones offers a novel approach to validating age estimates and can be used as an age-scaling ladder or age brackets for new populations and serve as calibration data for further constraining stellar evolution models.

Sequence stratigraphic architecture and depositional evolution of the early Eocene-early Miocene Al Jabal Al Akhdar carbonate successions, N Cyrenaica Promontory, NE Libya – Interplay of tectonics and eustasy

The interactions of tectonics and eustasy on the stratigraphic architectural evolution of the early Eocene-early Miocene Al Jabal Al Akhdar carbonate sedimentary successions were evaluated. This evaluation was achieved through detailed analyses of microfacies, depositional interpretation, and sequence stratigraphic framework of five measured sections located within the Al Jabal Al Akhdar Uplift, northeast Libya. The study interval was subdivided into distinct microfacies based on lithological changes, grain size and components, sedimentary texture and structures, fossil contents, color, and vertical stacking pattern. Six major depositional settings were delineated: restricted lagoon, open marine lagoon, platform margin and shoals, platform-margin reefs, foreslope, and middle to lower slope. Four third-order unconformity-bounded depositional sequences were identified based on vertical and lateral facies distribution, variations in fossil contents, and diagenetic features. Each sequence is composed of a transgressive-regressive interval, except for the younger sequence, which only contains a transgressive unit. Four evolutionary stages are recognized: initiation, growth, high-relief platform, and subaerial exposure. Subsidence resulting from tectonism and sediment loading, coupled with rising sea-level, created the accommodation space for the sedimentation of the studied carbonates. Repeated eustatic sea-level fluctuations controlled the internal stratigraphic heterogeneity and sequence development. Tectonic uplift caused a major sea-level retreat, resulting in the emersion of the carbonate sequences. The pre-existing Mesozoic and Paleocene sequences that underwent major uplift during the Late Cretaceous-early Eocene formed a shallow-water positive-antecedent topography for the formation of the carbonate sediments. This study establishes a carbonate sequence stratigraphic hierarchy of different cyclic sedimentation orders and improves our knowledge of sedimentary and stratigraphic architectural evolution and depositional mechanisms of carbonate platforms in an inverted basin setting. This knowledge can aid in predicting the distribution of lithofacies and depositional systems of economic importance.

The ALMA Legacy Survey of Class 0/I Disks in Corona australis, Aquila, chaMaeleon, oPhiuchus north, Ophiuchus, Serpens (CAMPOS). I. Evolution of Protostellar Disk Radii

We surveyed nearly all the embedded protostars in seven nearby clouds (Corona Australis, Aquila, Chamaeleon I and II, Ophiuchus North, Ophiuchus, Serpens) with the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array at 1.3 mm observations with a resolution of 0.″1. This survey detected 184 protostellar disks, 90 of which were observed at a resolution of 14–18 au, making it one of the most comprehensive high-resolution disk samples across various protostellar evolutionary stages to date. Our key findings include the detection of new annular substructures in two Class I and two flat-spectrum sources, while 21 embedded protostars exhibit distinct asymmetries or substructures in their disks. We find that protostellar disks have a substantially large variability in their radii across all evolutionary classes. In particular, the fraction of large disks with sizes above 60 au decreases as the protostar evolves from Class 0 to Class I. Compiling the literature data, we discovered an increasing trend of the gas disk radii to dust disk radii ratio (R gas,Kep/R mm) with increasing bolometric temperature (T bol). Our results indicate that the dust and gas disk radii decouple during the early Class I stage. However, in the Class 0 stage, the dust and gas disk sizes are similar, which allows for a direct comparison between models and observational data at the earliest stages of protostellar evolution. We show that the distribution of radii in the 52 Class 0 disks in our sample is in high tension with various disk formation models, indicating that protostellar disk formation remains an unsolved question.

New age constraints for the upper zongshan Formation: a morphometric study of the late cretaceous orbitoidal foraminifera in Gamba area of southern Xizang (Tibet)

This study refines the biostratigraphic framework of the upper Zongshan Formation in southern Xizang (Tibet) by conducting a meticulous morphometric analysis of larger benthic foraminifera (LBF) from the Gamba area. Focusing on the genera Orbitoides and Omphalocyclus, we employed a comprehensive morphometric approach to delineate the stratigraphic transition within the formation. A total of 42 samples were collected across pivotal lithological intervals, leading to the identification of species groups that provide precise age constraints for the upper Zongshan Formation. Specifically, the O. tissoti–O. media group and Om. anatoliensis within Limestone II to Calcareous Marl II support a late Campanian age, while the presence of the O. megaloformis–O. gruenbachensis group and potential Om. cideensis in Limestone III suggest a younger age bracket extending into the early Maastrichtian. Our findings not only clarify the stratigraphic position of the upper Zongshan Formation but also contribute significantly to the ongoing investigations of final evolutionary stages of the eastern Neotethys.

Quasicondensation and off-diagonal long-range order of hard-core bosons during a free expansion

Abstract Quasicondensation in one dimension is known to occur for equilibrium systems of hard-core bosons (HCBs) at zero temperature. This phenomenon arises due to the off-diagonal long-range order in the ground state, characterized by a power-law decay of the one-particle density matrix $g_1(x,y)\sim |x-y|^{-1/2}$~--~a well-known outcome of Luttinger liquid theory. &amp;#xD;Remarkably, HCBs, when allowed to freely expand from an initial product state (i.e., characterized by initial zero correlation), exhibit quasicondensation and demonstrate the emergence of off-diagonal long-range order during nonequilibrium dynamics. &amp;#xD;This phenomenon has been substantiated by numerical and experimental investigations in the early 2000s.&amp;#xD;In this work, we revisit the dynamical quasicondensation of HCBs, providing a fully analytical treatment of the issue. &amp;#xD;In particular, we derive an exact asymptotic formula for the equal-time one-particle density matrix by borrowing ideas from the framework of quantum Generalized Hydrodynamics. &amp;#xD;Our findings elucidate the phenomenology of quasicondensation and of dynamical fermionization occurring at different stages of the time evolution, as well as the crossover between the two. &amp;#xD;

Development Law of Water-Conducting Fracture Zones in Overburden above Fully Mechanized Top-Coal Caving Face: A Comprehensive Study

Although it is of great significance to master the height of the water-conducting fracture zone (WCFZ) to prevent coal mine disasters and ensure safe production, the most important thing is to predict the height and range of the WCFZ ahead of the working face design before coal mining. Therefore, the 150313 fully mechanized top-coal caving working face of the Yinying coal mine was taken as the engineering background. The development laws of WCFZ were studied using comprehensive research methods, including similar simulation experiments, key strata theory, the experience formula, the numerical simulation, etc. The results show that the WCFZ evolution stage is “goaf–caving zone–fracture zone” and the developing pattern is in a non-isosceles trapezoid gradually developing upward and forward. The height of the WCFZ in the 150313 working face is 89.36 m, and the fracture/mining ratio is 12.46, which is consistent with the actual production. Apparently, the set of indoor research methods in this paper is feasible to predict the height and scope of the WCFZ. The research results can provide a scientific reference for safe mining of the 15# coal seam in Shanxi Province and the prevention and control of roof water hazards.

Radiative signatures of circumplanetary disks and envelopes during the late stages of giant planet formation

During the late stages of giant planet formation, protoplanets are surrounded by a circumplanetary disk and an infalling envelope of gas and dust. For systems with sufficient cooling, material entering the sphere of influence of the planet falls inward and approaches ballistic conditions. Due to conservation of angular momentum, most of the incoming material falls onto the disk rather than directly onto the planet. This paper determines the spectral energy distributions of forming planets in this stage of evolution. Generalizing previous work, we consider a range of possible geometries for the boundary conditions of the infall and determine the two-dimensional structure of the envelope, as well as the surface density of the disk. After specifying the luminosity sources for the planet and disk, we calculate the corresponding radiative signatures for the system, including the emergent spectral energy distributions and emission maps. These results show how the observational appearance of forming planets depend on the input parameters, including the instantaneous mass, mass accretion rate, semimajor axis of the orbit, and the planetary magnetic field strength (which sets the inner boundary condition for the disk). We also consider different choices for the form of the opacity law and attenuation due to the background circumstellar disk. Although observing forming planets will be challenging, these results show how the observational signatures depend on the underlying properties of the planet/disk/envelope system.

Notes on the general relativistic viscous ringed disk evolution

Abstract A ringed accretion disk (RAD) models a cluster of axi-symmetric co-rotating and/or counter-rotating tori orbiting in the equatorial plane of a central Kerr super-massive Black Hole. We discuss the time evolution of such a ringed disk within the general relativity framework. Our analysis presents a study of the evolving RAD properties using a thin-disk scheme and solving a diffusion-like evolution equation for a RAD in the Kerr spacetime. In the first stage of evolution there is the inter–disk interaction where the individual rings spread inwardly and outwardly, levelling the structure and forming a single distribution with maximum density determined by the initial spread of the component rings. Timescales are dependent on viscosity prescriptions. The early time luminosity, dominated by the dynamics of the inner ringed structure, shows a clear mark of the inner ringed structure. The RAD eventually reaches a single disk phase, building accretion to the inner edge regulated by the inner edge boundary conditions. The late–time luminosity associated to the ringed disk follows a power law decline for the final single disk. In the sideline of this analysis we also considered a modified prescription mimicking an effective turbulent viscosity in the early phases of the rings evolutions.

An energy-saving distributed flexible job shop scheduling with machine breakdowns

Due to the change of consumption pattern, distributed flexible production is now becoming a major manufacturing mode. The machine breakdown seriously affects the production in workshops. How to efficiently adjust the scheduling scheme after machine breakdowns in distributed flexible job shop is an important concern for enterprises. Meanwhile, energy consumption is attracting more and more attention as environmental issues become increasingly serious. Thus, the energy-saving scheduling on distributed flexible job shop considering machine breakdowns is studied, and a mixed-integer programming model is established to optimize makespan, total energy consumption and machine load difference, simultaneously. Based on the problem characteristics, an improved memetic algorithm is designed. To improve the quality of initial solutions, an initialization strategy incorporating multiple rules is designed. An active decoding method with an adjustment strategy is adopted to fully utilize machine idleness. To expand the search range, the idea of dual-population collaborative optimization is used. Multi-level intelligent mutation operation strategies are introduced to further enhance the quality of solutions. In addition, an adaptive parameter rule is designed to adjust to appropriate search capabilities at different evolutionary stages. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed strategies and algorithm, the memetic algorithm, the artificial bee colony algorithm, the differential evolution algorithm and the estimation of distribution algorithm are chosen as comparison algorithms. The same iteration number and same running time are used as the termination criteria of all algorithms, and 60 instances of different scales are solved. The experimental results demonstrate that the effectiveness of the strategies and algorithm designed in this paper. Notably, our algorithm consistently achieved good results even when the same running time is used as the termination criterion.

Cancerous time estimation for interpreting the evolution of lung adenocarcinoma.

The evolution of lung adenocarcinoma is accompanied by a multitude of gene mutations and dysfunctions, rendering its phenotypic state and evolutionary direction highly complex. To interpret the evolution of lung adenocarcinoma, various methods have been developed to elucidate the molecular pathogenesis and functional evolution processes. However, most of these methods are constrained by the absence of cancerous temporal information, and the challenges of heterogeneous characteristics. To handle these problems, in this study, a patient quasi-potential landscape method was proposed to estimate the cancerous time of phenotypic states' emergence during the evolutionary process. Subsequently, a total of 39 different oncogenetic paths were identified based on cancerous time and mutations, reflecting the molecular pathogenesis of the evolutionary process of lung adenocarcinoma. To interpret the evolution patterns of lung adenocarcinoma, three oncogenetic graphs were obtained as the common evolutionary patterns by merging the oncogenetic paths. Moreover, patients were evenly re-divided into early, middle, and late evolutionary stages according to cancerous time, and a feasible framework was developed to construct the functional evolution network of lung adenocarcinoma. A total of six significant functional evolution processes were identified from the functional evolution network based on the pathway enrichment analysis, which plays critical roles in understanding the development of lung adenocarcinoma.

Dinotoms possess two evolutionary distinct autophagy-related ubiquitin-like conjugation systems

Autophagy is an intracellular degradation mechanism by which cytoplasmic materials are delivered to and degraded in the lysosome-fused autophagosome (autolysosome) and proposed to have been established at an early stage of eukaryotic evolution. Dinoflagellates harboring endosymbiotic diatoms (so-called “dinotoms”), which retain their own nuclei and mitochondria in addition to plastids, have been investigated as an intermediate toward the full integration of a eukaryotic phototroph into the host-controlled organelle (i.e., plastid) through endosymbiosis. Pioneering studies systematically evaluated the degree of host governance on several metabolic pathways in the endosymbiotic diatoms (ESDs). However, little attention has been paid to the impact of the endosymbiotic lifestyle on the autophagy operated in the ESDs. In this study, we searched for ATG3, ATG4, ATG5, ATG7, ATG8, ATG10, and ATG12, which are required for autophagosome formation, in the RNA-seq data from dinotoms Durinskia baltica and Kryptoperidinium foliaceum. We detected two evolutionally distinct sets of the ATG proteins in the dinotom species, one affiliated with the dinoflagellate homologs and the other with the diatom homologs in phylogenetic analyses. The results suggest that the ATG proteins descended from the diatom taken up by the dinoflagellate host persist for autophagosome formation and, most likely, autophagy.
