A heuristic framework for understanding employees' willingness to relocate was developed and predictions related to the framework were tested. Data from 74 organizations, consisting of a matched sample of 872 employees and spouses, indicated that Background Factors, Employee Perceptions and Attitudes, and Spouse Attitudes each predicted employee willingness to relocate. Spouse Attitudes were particularly strong predictors, highlighting the need for multisource data in future relocation research. Implications for future research, theory building, and applied practice are discussed.
