MYSTICAL RADIANCE OF MANUSCRIPT: A PARATEXTUAL STUDY OF ISLAMIC ASTRONOMY MANUSCRIPT

Society treating manuscripts as objects with mystical power is often viewed as a myth that has no scientific basis. There are differences of perspectives about mystical belief and reality that evoke supernatural phenomenon related to manuscripts. This research analyzes the paratextual aspects of the Islamic Astronomy Manuscript owned by Husen Hatuwe in Keitetu Village, Leihitu District, Central Maluku Regency. The manuscript is used as a guidance to determine the right time for various daily activities and considered to have mystical power by the local community. This research is a philological study which used data collection technique through observation, interviews, and literature studies. The paratextual approach in this research reveals the external narrative aspects of the manuscript, including how the local culture influences and get influenced by the existence of the manuscript. Apart from serving as a guidance to determine the right time for religious rituals, this manuscript is also Mystical Radiance of Manuscript … – Syahrir Kila, et.al | 253 believed to have spiritual power that maintains the social balance in the community. In addition, this research contributes to the attempt to preserve the ancient manuscripts in Maluku, which most of them are damaged due to inadequate storage as well as analyze the role of this manuscript in the social, spiritual, and cultural context of the local community.

PROHIBITION ON SELLING RICE IN THE TANAH PAJIMATAN KI AGENG SELO GROBOGAN AREA

<em><span>The purpose of this research is to uncover the meaning behind the prohibition of selling rice in the area of the tomb of Ki Ageng Selo in Grobogan, Central Java. This research employs a field study method with a qualitative research type. Data analysis uses qualitative descriptive techniques. Data collection techniques are conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation with the caretaker of Ki Ageng Selo's tomb, Mr. Abdul Rohim, and traders in the area of the tomb. The results of this study indicate that the meaning of the prohibition on selling rice in the area of Ki Ageng Selo's tomb is a teaching to become generous individuals, to honor guests, and to possess a high social spirit. The teaching of generosity is demonstrated by Ki Ageng Selo through the provision of food (ingkung), which is a whole chicken cooked for guests. The teaching of honoring guests is shown through Ki Ageng Selo's concern in the way he serves guests with warmth. The teaching of having a high social spirit is reflected in the respect and appreciation for guests who come. This phenomenon serves as a lesson for the community, especially the people of Selo, that it is essential to possess a generous nature, to honor guests, and to have a high social spirit. The findings indicate that the experiences of a scholar with karomah (spiritual power) can become teachings or advice that are adhered to by the community. The advice given by Ki Ageng Selo to his descendants not to sell rice around his house has become a tradition to this day. If this tradition is violated, the community in the area of Ki Ageng Selo's tomb believes that misfortune will befall the traders who sell rice.</span></em>

Unraveling Indonesian heritage through pattern recognition using YOLOv5

This research focuses on three iconic Indonesian batik patterns-Kawung, Mega Mendung, and Parang-due to their cultural significance and recognition. Kawung symbolizes harmony, Mega Mendung represents power, and Parang signifies protection and spiritual power. Using the YOLOv5 deep learning model, the study aimed to accurately identify these patterns. Results showed mean average precision (mAP) scores of 77% for Kawung, 80% for Parang, and an impressive 99% for Mega Mendung. The highest precision results were 91% for Kawung, 88% for Parang, and 77% for Mega Mendung. These findings highlight the potential of pattern recognition in preserving cultural heritage. Understanding these designs contributes to the appreciation of Indonesia s culture. The research suggests applications in cultural studies, digital archiving, and the textile industry, ensuring the legacy of these patterns endures.

National archetypes in the master’s biography (the case study of «Veselka», the symphony fantasy by Viktor Telychko)

The thesis objective is to identify the key national archetypes that are crucial for a creative personality’s lifelong creativity; to reveal the specifics of their explication in «Veselka», Viktor Telychko’s symphonic fantasy. The research methodology is based on the complex approach and embraces a number of the following methods: biographical – by involving the key events of the master’s being; culture studies – by characterizing civilizational impacts reflected in the master’s conscience; semiotic – by interpreting ancient symbols implemented by the suggested artistic sample; music studies – by considering the genre and style-forming parameters of the opus; analytical – by working on the body of research related to the aforementioned problematic field; systemic – by comprehensive view on the research subject; theoretic generalization – by summarizing the thesis results. Science novelty. For the first time ever, the dominant national archetypes of a master’s chronicle were identified, and their manifestation was revealed within an artistic artefact. Conclusions. An archetype is an unconscious fundamental scheme of notions, signs and symbols common for the whole humanity. For Ukrainian culture, the following ones are critical: home, Motherland, parents, land, temple, light, etc. Most of them are represented by the biographies of prominent masters. The composer’s practice by Viktor Telychko broadcasts the phenomena under consideration through folklore, which is a constituent of his opuses. In «Veselka» symphony fantasy, they appear as a content element able to represent significant information about the Ukrainians’ mentality and the author’s ontological strategy. The dominant ancient images of the artwork are as follows: Motherland revealed through the author’s connection with the native location and quoting on Zakarpattia’s songs; the native land that means life, wisdom, spiritual power, appeal to the native location; father embodying peace, calmness, emotional support; the circle that represents eternity, rebirth, aspiring after self-perfection for the evolution of the native land. The manifestation, which is the structure of a music sample similar to a cyclic motion; the teacher who reveals the issue of guidance appealing to the artistic heritage of the prominent masters of the region; the main character who reflects striving for eternal ideals characteristic of Victor Telychko and is interpreted via high-hearted and persistent intonations; love that celebrates deep lyrical and poetic feelings and appears as the mental basis of Ukrainian sensuality. The masterpiece is united by the spiritual light archetype (the rainbow) that manifests hope and joy.

Exploring Miracles and Wonders in Pre-Modern Korean Society through the Samguk yusa

Samguk yusa 三國遺事 (Memorabilia of the Three Kingdoms), compiled by Iryŏn 一然 (1206–1289), a prominent Buddhist monk in Koryŏ, stands as one of Korea’s most valued historical classics. This classic weaves together a collection of captivating and unconventional narratives—marked by their peculiarity, miracles, and wonder—diverging from the usual societal norms. Unlike traditional historical chronicles such as Samguk sagi 三國史記 (Histories of the Three Kingdoms), Samguk yusa presents a diverse mosaic woven with historical anecdotes, legends, and folklore, especially emphasizing connections to Buddhism. The tales of miraculous events hold historical significance, serving as reflective mirrors that not only shaped the beliefs of pre-modern Korean Buddhists but also influenced the wider population of that era in Korea. This paper delves into the cultural significance and societal roles of miracles and wonders within pre-modern Korean society, particularly through a thorough exploration of narratives and accounts within the Samguk yusa. Through these miraculous stories, the Samguk yusa not only validates the spiritual power of Buddhism but also redefines concepts like filial piety and national protection by integrating them into the Buddhist framework. This ensured Buddhism’s enduring significance in Silla society and reinforced the importance of the supernatural as an integral part of a holistic view of history and culture.

Крест vs Змий. Различия в подходах к интерпретации темы змия и древа (Быт 3; Чис 21; Ин 3. 14) в раннехристианских церковных и в гностических источниках

The article examines the peculiarities and fundamental differences in the approach to the interpretation of a group of biblical narratives, united by the theme of the serpent and the tree, in the exegesis of the Gnostic sects of the "Ophite" (from Greek ophis - "serpent") currents and in Christian typological exegesis. The interpreters who belonged to the Grate Church (as opposed to "heretical" movements) were guided by the text of John 3:14, where Jesus compares Himself to the brazen serpent who had saved the people of Israel in the wilderness from death caused by the bites of poisonous serpents. The correlation of this text with the complex of prophetic "testimonies" about the Saviour "hanging on a tree" allowed them to see in it a reference to Christ's crucifixion. However, the same image of the brass serpent evoked inevitable associations with the story of the temptation of Adam and Eve, which also featured the "tree" and the "serpent". The soteriological doctrine of most Gnostic sects was based on the idea of salvation through "knowledge", so the Gnostics did not share the biblical concept of the Fall of Man, considering the access of Adam and Eve to the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge as a beneficial act and reassessing from this point of view the role of the biblical serpent, which in church sources was associated mainly with the Devil. The most interesting position in this respect was taken by the followers of the sect of "Perates", who regarded the "ancient serpent", the bronze serpent of Moses and Jesus as epiphanies of the divine Son-Logos, i.e. the spiritual Christ. In the biblical story of the Tree of Knowledge they saw the reflection of the conflict between the God-Demiurge together with his subordinate archons, who were hostile to human salvation, and the higher spiritual power acting through the serpent, which was further reproduced in the story of the transformations of the rod of Moses, in the story of the Brazen Serpent, in the story of Joseph and his brothers, and in the story of Jesus, who was crucified by the Jews, the worshippers of the Demiurge. In contrast to the Ophites, the Church exegetes sought to exclude the possibility of establishing a symbolic link between Christ and the serpent of Genesis. Taking the figure of the Brazen Serpent as a type of the Crucifixion, they correlated it not with the image of the Tree of Knowledge, but with the image of the Tree of Life, from which they developed an independent line of types of the Lord's Cross, based on the adjoining motifs of tree-wood and staff-rod, which in turn determined the character of the typology of Baptism, where the two above-mentioned motifs were combined with the motif of water.

SEFT as an Effort to Overcome the Manifestations of Burnout Syndrome

Burnout syndrome describes a response to chronic work-related stress. One of the techniques to overcome this is the Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT), which combines spiritual power and energy psychology. This study used a literature review with the PICOS framework. Article search using electronic databases: Google Scholar, Research Gate, PubMed, and Science Direct with the keywords "SEFT" OR "EFT" and "Burnout syndrome". The inclusion criteria in this literature review are articles published from 2016 to 2023, available in full-text form. Exclusion criteria: articles are only in the form of journal reviews, and papers are published in proceedings. Number of articles reviewed: 10. SEFT combines psychological energy and spiritual therapy by using the tapping method at several meridian points in the body. Improvement of physical and psychological complaints after the administration of SEFT psychotherapy is a form of mind-body gap healing. SEFT treats disruptions of the body's energy system to eliminate negative emotions

Mystical Thoughts of Tagore and Iqbal: A Comparative Analysis

Mysticism is a spiritual search for hidden truth or wisdom that aims to unite with the metaphysical realm. Mysticism is a direct experience of oneness with God. It is a diverse set of practices, discourses, teachings, articles, texts, institutions, traditions, and experiences related to the instruction of human transformation. Mysticism encompasses everything associated with God. Mystical experiences are unique to each individual. This paper delves into the mystical thoughts of two multi-genius thinkers, the greatest philosophers and mystical poets: Rabindranath Tagore and Muhammad Iqbal. It also shows the relationship between man and God in the writing of Tagore and Iqbal. Also, it deals with how Tagore and Iqbal combine nature, different aspects of the self, and images of the divine. They hold that God’s presence permeates all of creation and that mysticism and humanism are the primary sources of an individual’s spiritual power. They think that God is within man, and man is a reflection of this divine spirit, which is God. Tagore imparts a system of Indian mystical thought in which the Gita’s theism, Vedic metaphysics, the Upanishad’s teachings, the mystical philosophy of the Bauls, the doctrine of love of Vaishnava, and Sufism exist in synthesis. Iqbal emphasizes that the ultimate goal of human life is to accomplish the will of the Almighty. Tagore and Iqbal’s writing contains many similar ideas, images, techniques, and analyses. EXPLORING SCIENTIFIC TRUTH THROUGH THE LOGIC OF SCIENCE IN VARIOUS PERSPECTIVES

This research has several objectives, namely: (1) to know Science in the perspective of Islamic philosophy; (2) to know science in the perspective of the Qur'an; (3) to know science in the Western perspective. The method used to explore this uses a literature study method with qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of this study are three, namely (1) The characteristics of Islamic epistemology about science are belief in spiritual power, having a harmonious relationship between reason and revelation, interdependence of reason and intuition, Theocentric orientation, and associated Values Development; (2) science in the perspective of the Qur'an is illustrated in Q.S Imran : 190 and Al-Baqarah: 29; (3) Epistemology in the Western view suggests that the concept of science is based on logical principles, hypothesis generation, and verification process. There are three theories of truth, namely coherent truth theory, correspondence theory, pragmatic truth theory. In addition, there are material objects and formal objects in science. The contribution of this research describes how truth can be explained in various perspectives so that the truth becomes scientific.

사대부의 시선으로 본 무당의 형상과 그 의미

This article examines the portrayal of shamans through the perspective of the scholar-gentry(士大夫) class as reflected in various records, such as Pilgi(筆記) and Yadam(野談), and explores the significance of these portrayals. From the late 13th century, shamans were subjects of rejection and criticism by the scholar-gentry, and after the founding of the Joseon Dynasty, they were perceived as antagonists disrupting the order of Confucian society. Shamans were negatively depicted, labeled as “wicked shamans” or “fake shamans.” The literati aimed to emphasize the legitimacy of rejecting shamans through these depictions. The literati focused their criticism on shamans who deceived people and gained undue benefits by exploiting superstitions about spirits. Male shamans dressed in women's clothing were recognized as the primary image of the “wicked shaman.” On the other hand, shamans were unique beings capable of communicating with spirits or ghosts through possession(降神/憑依). Although the scholar-gentry rejected shamans, they were very interested in their spiritual abilities. This is connected to verifying the authenticity of “spiritual shamans” and “genuine shamans”. As the Joseon Dynasty progressed, the scholar-gentry increasingly acknowledged the spiritual power of shamans through their experiences and observations of possession phenomena. Consequently, they began to view shamans and shamanistic practices more positively compared to earlier periods. Narratives from the late Joseon period include acceptance of shamanistic phenomena and rituals, and shamanistic practices often served to complement or even replace Confucian rituals. Shamans were depicted as marginalized figures, yet they secured their position by serving as spiritual intermediaries for the common people. This dual perspective on shamans reflects the contradiction between the literati's ideals and the reality of their perception. The scholar-gentry show a more flexible and reserved attitude toward shamans than before, expecting an interest in the unknown world, experiences with them, and solving practical problems through shamans. That is, shamans were portrayed as beings who were excluded from the Confucian society, but simultaneously, they were seen as entities filling the gaps within that society, thus maintaining their vitality.

Social semiotic analysis and efforts to preserve the old mantra of Serdang Malay ethnomedicine in Serdang Bedagai regency, north Sumatra

This research aims to document and analyze semiotic studies in Serdang Malay Ethnomedicine mantra texts, especially regarding signs and markers which are believed to have spiritual power in Kuala Lama Village, Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra. This research uses a qualitative approach with field data obtained through observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. The results of this research show that in the old Malay Serdang mantra, there are two main signs, namely the sound or phrase "Bismillahirrohmanirrohim" which always appears at the beginning or above the mantra sentence. The two words "Hu" have a social meaning as a place to express requests for desires, recognition of human helplessness, and special sentences in begging. The research conclusion shows that the semiotic social meaning of the old Malay Serdang mantra lies in the sound "Bismillahirrohmanirrohim," which is an expression of a request for healing to God. In the context of ethnomedicine treatment, the use of this mantra also reflects cooperation and mutual assistance between the Serdang Malay community.

‘A man’s gift will make room for him’: sources of wealth and legitimacy in charismatic Christianity in Ghana

ABSTRACT The moral practices and principles of accumulating and (re)distributing wealth in charismatic Christianity in Africa are controversial and contested. In Ghana, rich charismatic pastors are perceived as dubious figures and the legitimacy of their wealth is questionable. At the same time, a pastor’s wealth is a sign of his or her spiritual and charismatic gifts. In this article, I discuss the ways in which Ghanaian charismatic pastors, church members and the broader public understand different forms and shifting principles of wealth acquisition and (re)distribution within the religious field. The article highlights the dynamic and fluid nature of distinctions such as legitimate and illegitimate and argues that a moral economy approach is apt for capturing these tensions. Moreover, it is important to include religion and sources of spiritual power in the analysis of moral economies as these are crucial parts of social life and moral values in many African societies.

Semantics and structure of the concept of “Bogatyrstvo” in epics and modern linguistic consciousness

The subject of the study is the concept of "Bogatyrstvo" and its structural and semantic features. Bogatyrstvo is inextricably linked with the hero and with the plot of epics. In epics, it is perceived as a concept-script, that is, it is formed in the process of the entire narrative. However, the original structure of the concept is presented as a conceptual field of meanings inscribed in a more complex structural formation – the ethical concept of "Courage". The relevance of the research is dictated by the high precedent of the name of the concept and its dominant verbalizers. The semantic field of the concept is explored in etymological, historical and topical layers. The main semantic load of the etymological layer of the concept is formed in the Church Slavonic language. The historical layer is vividly represented in the dictionaries of the XIX and XX centuries, the latter captures the limitation of the "existence" of the concept by the genre of epic. The actual layer is revealed in the process of studying the consciousness of modern students. The purpose of the article is to identify the reference points (slots) that formed the basis of the concept. A special contribution of the authors and the novelty of the study is the conduct of a semantic experiment, which established that in the minds of modern native speakers, the concept Bogatyrstvo, for which analysis methods were used (analysis of dictionary definitions and contextual analysis of epics), semantic analysis (the "supporting" semantic shares of the concept of "Bogatyrstvo" were identified, their key verbalizers were highlighted) and the method of semantic experiment to identify the modern perception of the concept. The main conclusions of the study: 1) the concept of "Bogatyrstvo" has a static frame structure and a field structure, including slots "spiritual strength" and "physical strength". Spiritual strength lies in the constant readiness to stand up for the motherland as a manifestation of true courage and heroism; in the fate of the hero-defender, ordained from above; in the Christian faith. The physical strength of the hero is, as it were, the personification of the whole strength of the Russian people, given by God. 2) These slots are present in the epics in the dynamic structure of the script: the slot "physical force" unfolds to the whole epic action; the slot "spiritual force" is expressed through the entire epic narrative – this is the very motivation for action. A special contribution of the authors and the novelty of the study is the conduct of a semantic experiment, which established that in the minds of modern native speakers, the concept of "Bogatyrstvo" is presented statically and includes both slots, with the predominance of the slot "spiritual power".

Об изучении родного языка обско-угорского этноса: научные основания

The authors of the article consider the issues of the formation of ethno-cultural and national identity on the example of the Ob-Ugric ethnic group living in the Arctic. Much attention is paid to such ethno-cultural component as native language. The problem of bilingualism, as well as the development of communicative competence in native and foreign languages, their practical application in the cultural sphere and social life under the influence of social, pedagogical and psychological factors is topical. Despite living in harsh climatic conditions, the northerners have for centuries cultivated such feelings as responsibility, justice, readiness to help. The authors noted the interest in the deep historical roots of their ethnic group and presented indisputable facts of educating children in the spirit of preserving and increasing values, passing them on to subsequent generations, spreading throughout the world. Based on the analysis of modern ethnopedagogical trends in the educational space of the Ob-Ugric ethnos, some recommendations on the main issues of ethnoculture and folk pedagogy development are presented. The study is based on the ideas of Wilhelm von Humboldt about the spiritual power of people, the role of language in the spiritual development of mankind, the peculiarities of the national character, the thinking of the people, their spiritual nature and way of life, conceptualization of knowledge about the world and the ways of its transmission. The authors assign a special role to ethnopsychology, the science of individual and collective consciousness, and ethnopedagogy, which integrates the ethnocultural component into the system of training sessions and contributes to the formation of a national identity in the younger generation, understanding and preserving the spiritual and moral values and traditions of their people.

Integration of craftsman spirit of great powers into the practical classroom teaching of computer network foundation

It is a trend in curriculum construction to extend ideological and political education from specialized ideological and political courses to curriculum ideological and political courses. Based on the characteristics of private applied undergraduate courses, this article takes the practice of "RJ-45 interface twisted pair" in computer network courses as an example to explore the spiritual power of ideological elements, and integrates curriculum education into teaching case design and teaching process to cultivate students' spiritual power and achieve the goal of comprehensive education.

Owning a Room of One’s Own: On the Female Self-Construction in All Passion Spent

The novel demonstrates how women under the patriarchal system are gradually being othered, as well as to get rid of this predicament, and explores the way out for women’s freedom and liberation. This work has been hailed as the novel version of the feminist manifesto A Room of One’s Own. The article mainly focuses on three aspects, namely the loss of the female self, the reconstruction of the female self and the inheritance of the female self in All Passion Spent, to explore the feminist thoughts in this novel. Vita not only intends to dig out the material and spiritual dilemmas faced by women but also her exploration and construction of female subjective status and female self, which provides women with a certain amount of spiritual power to know themselves, remake themselves, and realize their self-worth.

Harmoni Alam dan Spiritualitas: Studi Kepercayaan Orang Manggarai Timur terhadap Roh Alam

The focus of this study discusses natural damage as negative changes in the natural environment, especially as a result of human activities. Air, water, and soil pollution, as well as climate change are the main elements that contribute to the destruction of nature, threaten the sustainability of ecosystems and cause biodiversity loss with negative impacts on human health. This study aims to explore the belief of Manggarai people in nature spirits. In their belief, nature spirits are considered the guardians of the balance of the ecosystem, and every element of nature is inhabited by spirits possessing spiritual power. The destruction of nature is seen as a disturbance to the spirit of nature, creating disharmony in the ecosystem and the potential for natural disasters. The study highlights the importance of not only maintaining physical ecosystems but also maintaining spiritual balance with the spirits of nature. This study uses literature methods sourced from books and scientific articles that are in accordance with this discourse. The results of this study provide deep insight into the belief system of the East Manggarai people towards nature spirits. This study found that the relationship between nature and humans is the essence of human life. Man cannot live without nature. Nature becomes a container to provide life for humans.
