ACCOUNTING PERSPECTIVE ON THE ISLAMIC-DRIVEN ACCOUNTABILITY IN A TRADITIONAL ISLAMIC ORGANISATION IN JAVA

Purpose — This study explores an accounting perspective on the Islamic-driven accountability in Gus Miek’s Jantiko Mantab community, a traditional Islamic organization in Java. The Jantiko Mantab is an East Java-based community initiated by KH. Hamim Tohari Jazuli (Gus Miek) in 1970s. Regardless of the unique and controversial method of Gus Miek, this community was selected as the object due to its progressive development in the Islamic movement on the number of followers especially in grass root and marginalized communities in Java. The study focuses on two main public activities of the Jantiko Mantab, which are continuously held from one place to other places, namely Al Quran recitation (Semaan) and praising Allah using holy sentences (Dzikrul Ghofilin) in the congregation.Design/methodology/approach — This study is qualitative research with a spiritual paradigm approach and uses a spiritual perspective analysis method through tawasul, zikir, and syir (pray). The study is conducted through bibliography reviews, interviews, and direct observations.Findings — The results of this study showed Religious activities within the community were experienced to gain a comprehensive understanding of the founder, leader, and member perspectives on the organization’s accountability. Accountability in Jantiko Mantab was understood as a formal aspect of accounting, such as financial reports, and also performed and nurtured in accordance to the human task as Khalifatullah fil Ardh. The concept of Khalifatullah fil Ardh is embedded in their community and considered as the accountability uniqueness of Jantiko Mantab.Practical implications — Semaan Al-Qur’an and Dzikrul Ghofilin of Jantiko Mantab should make a change in interpreting the concept of accountability that is currently loaded with capitalist interests by incorporating Islamic values sourced from Al Qur'an and hadiths.Originality/value — This Islamic value, which is also delivered and reflected by their leaders, is likely to drive the member perception of the organization's accountability. Keywords — Accountability, Islamic value, Islamic organization, Indonesia. Paper type — Case Study

The State of Spirituality in India and Insights for Marketing

There is an emerging paradigm shift in management over the last two decades towards spirituality. Before going for studies in marketing and spirituality in the Indian context, it is essential to first understand spirituality in the Indian context because India is a diverse country. However, there is lack of a pan – India study to understand the current state of spirituality. This research paper filled this research gap by studying spirituality in India's 36 states and union territories. The results showed differences across states and union territories, small states and big states, islands and mainland, and across different regions. Marketing professionals can use the findings of the study while designing the marketing strategy and marketing mix to reach out to the consumers in a better way. One limitation of this work is that it could have undertaken a pilot project or a case study to relate the findings on spirituality with the spirituality paradigm in the Indian context.

Prerequisites for the formation of the human health paradigm

On the historical side, valeology consciously or, more often, unconsciously was a separate area of social activity and personal activity. Thus, unconscious valeological activity was characteristic of the prehistoric period in connection with the needs of survival, nurturance, protection, as well as a component of animistic ritual activity. Then the first valeological laws, traditions and rituals were born during the heyday of the first European and Asian civilizations, syncretism of medical and spiritual principles was observed (Antiquity, Eastern tradition). Subsequently, humanitarian activities separated from practical, which slowed down the development of protovaleology, especially in the Middle Ages. The beginning of the Renaissance marked the emergence of a holistic spiritual and natural paradigm of a man with the opportunity to comprehensively develop his spiritual and physical beginning, and the development of cities contributed to a significant increase in hygienic living conditions. The classical period of culture and philosophical thought gave rise to several approaches of moralizing, utopian, educational and idealistic nature. Man is the center of the world and his self-education at the end of the 19th century, with the advent of the positivist paradigm and the era of modernism in culture. However, on the territory of our state, as well as several others, at the beginning of the twentieth century, the socialist-realistic paradigm of human health reigned, attracting a citizen as an element of a totalitarian state of pre-mass ways of valeological activity - physical culture, mass sports, pre- conscription training, and labor activity. Valeology became a separate discipline and form of social consciousness only in the last decades of the twentieth century, after the final fall of colonial politics in the world.

A Pilot Study of a Moral Injury Group Intervention Co-Facilitated by a Chaplain and Psychologist.

Moral injury, an experience of betrayal or transgression of moral values, continues to receive attention because of its associations with psychiatric disorders, including posttraumatic stress disorder and suicidality. There is growing recognition that moral injury may require novel interventions that involve religious or spiritual paradigms. This pilot study presents feasibility data and exploratory outcomes for 40 veteran participants across seven cohorts who participated in a novel 12-week moral injury group (MIG) over 35 months. The MIG was cofacilitated by a Veterans Affairs chaplain and psychologist and designed to reduce distress and improve functioning in individuals with histories of morally injurious experiences from military service. The intervention included a ceremony in which participants shared testimonies of their moral injury with the general public. Recruitment feasibility and retention were high, with participants completing an average of 9.45 (SD = 2.82) sessions of the 12-week group, and 32 participants (80.0%) attending nine or more sessions and the community healing ceremony. Exploratory analyses revealed medium effect sizes, ω2 = 0.05-0.08, for reductions in depressive symptoms, improvements in psychological functioning, and self-compassion after the intervention, with small effect sizes, ω2 = 0.03, in anticipated directions for personal growth and spiritual struggles. The results were not impacted by participant engagement in concurrent psychological treatments. Taken together, these findings support the feasibility of the MIG, the potential merit of an interdisciplinary approach to addressing moral injury, and justification for further research into the efficacy of this approach.

ГЕРМЕНЕВТИКА АКАДЕМІЧНОЇ ДОБРОЧЕСНОСТІ В КОНТЕКСТІ ДУХОВНОЇ ПАРАДИГМИ ПСИХОЛОГІЇ

В умовах проведення освітніх реформ з орієнтацією на європейські стандарти виникає необхідність осмислення фундаментальних цінностей, на яких повинен базуватися і реалізовуватися освітній процес. У статті висвітлено результати дослідження академічної доброчесності як конгломерату духовних цінностей, що презентують особистісну позицію представника академічної спільноти в освітньому просторі. Мета дослідження: розкрити зміст феномена академічної доброчесності в контексті духовної парадигми психології. Завдання дослідження: 1) означити методологічні положення духовної парадигми психології; 2) розкрити зміст ціннісних спектрів академічної доброчесності в контексті духовної парадигми психології. Для розкриття змісту феномена академічної доброчесності в контексті духовної парадигми психології були використані теоретичні методи – аналіз, синтез, порівняння, узагальнення і систематизація теоретичних підходів і поглядів до проблеми академічної доброчесності, психологічна герменевтика. Висхідним положенням аналізу академічної доброчесності в контексті духовної парадигми психології є розгляд особистості представника академічної спільноти як ноологічної сутності, що характеризується потенційною універсальністю, творчо-вольовою спрямованістю, іманентною здатністю до вибору добра та заперечення зла, онтологічною налаштованістю до самопізнання та самовизначення заради утвердження трансцендентних духовних цінностей. Духовні цінності, які становлять суть академічної доброчесності, актуалізуються в свідомості студента, викладача (відповідно до конкретної ситуації вибору в умовах освітнього процесу), проходять щоразу «внутрішнє переосмислення» крізь призму деонтичного вибору та прийняття відповідальності за його здійснення, за наслідки, після чого відбувається реалізація цих цінностей у вчинковий спосіб.

Beyond the Classroom: Reconsidering the Role of Learner-Centered Teaching using Paulo Freire’s Philosophy of Education

Employing a textual analysis of the concepts of learner-centered teaching (LCT) and Freire’s philosophy, this paper reconsiders the role of LCT beyond the classroom setting by infusing the principles of Paolo Freire’s Philosophy of Education in his Pedagogy of the Oppressed. LCT is a promising pedagogical approach utilized in different educational levels among different academic disciplines. It incorporates psychological principles allowing meaningful learning through different teaching-learning activities. Studies on LCT showed an increase in student motivation to learn, involvement in the learning process, and understanding of content via meaning-making activities formulated specifically to suit the students’ needs. Paolo Freire, a Brazilian philosopher and revolutionary, criticized the traditional educational practices which cause “narration sickness” among learners. Freire argued that a “banking method” of teaching alienates both educators and students as they are being treated as objects instead of human beings in the learning process. As such, Freire proposed a problem-posing method based on a dialogic paradigm between educators and students to liberate them from the alienation of traditional narrative teaching. This dialogic or problem-posing approach incorporates an anthropological, political, and spiritual paradigm shift which ultimately allows educators and learners to attain authentic meaning. https://doi.org/10.26803/ijhss.12.2.4

This foresight article deals with belief systems worldwide. The history of mankind, as can be seen from wars, suffering and misery, is characterised by ignorance about the true nature of being. Philosophies and religions, as well as science, strive to reveal the essence of being - albeit from very different points of departure. Many years have passed in this way and nowhere - not in any of the religions, or any of the different philosophies - has the true nature of being been disclosed. It is the purpose of this paper to bring forward the differences between different belief systems and in particular the present Newtonian paradigm - which can be characterised by antagonism, divisions, wars and suffering - and a new holistic paradigm. A survey of the religions and philosophies which pertain to the present paradigm and those which relate to the new one shall illustrate the essence of being through human history. The future will be characterised by a new holistic, spiritual paradigm, which will come from two sources. On the one hand we have new insights into scientific perceptions, among them quantum physics, and the other is a spiritual development based on A Course in Miracles.

Вокруг «мистерии вечной гибели и вечного спасения»: Нравственно-философская «спираль» Ю.В. Бондарева

The research deals with a specific “Bondarev’s” feature of the human characters study in holistic poetical and philosophical space of his works about war, the author’s position, his manner of artistic thinking, the formation of his own, individual author’s worldview, which is based on deep traditions of Russian classical artistic and philosophical thought, outgoing to the works of A.S. Pushkin, F.M. Dostoevsky and L.N. Tolstoy. The “touches" of understanding of the so-called Bondarev’s “spiral” are presented, its main features are formulated. In the aspect of the spiritual and cultural paradigm, the behavior of some Y.V. Bondarev’s heroes is conceptualized in a situation designated by him as “either-or”, dating back to traditional Russian spiritual conflict of “eternal destruction or eternal salvation”.

Reflecții patristice despre biserică și Sfânta Liturghie ca paradigme pentru om și viața duhovnicească

Stirred by St. Maximus the Confessor and his plan as revealed in Mystagogy, Father Dumitru Stǎniloae has looked into the theme of man as church and also into the topic of one’s liturgy in his paper on Spirituality and Communion in the Orthodox Liturgy, constructing his examination on samples of philocalic texts written by Byzantine authors who lived in different periods2. The current paper focuses on the research of two anthropological, spiritual paradigms recurrent in the Greek patristic tradition, namely the church and the Holy Liturgy, as well as of the semantic correspondences between the liturgical terminology and the spiritual life. The current research embarks upon the patristic period and the first half of the second Christian millennium, insisting upon the comparative analysis of the meanings of the selected Greek patristic texts. Its aim is to bring to the fore the terminological transfer from the sphere of the liturgical life into the hermeneutic context of spiritual life, with a view to insisting on the way how the spiritual meanings of the personal liturgical life have evolved through their recontextualization.

Changing Spiritual Paradigm- Why It Matters Even More Today

In this era of technological breakthroughs, increasing uncertainties and great scientific advances, where workers are compelled to work in their job whether they like it or not, there is a paradigm in the spiritual believes of the employees at the workplace as their values and attitudes have been taken over by their temptations to measure their worth in terms of their income and possessions. Today employees feel more pressured, demotivated, frustrated in comparison to the times earlier. Thus, there is an even more need for integration of workplace spirituality within an organization now than earlier. This paper focuses on the changing spiritual trend in the present competitive environment imposed by organizations due to its changing career aspirations, vision and mission and means to overcome these lofty objectives in line with people’s deepest spiritual beliefs and values. The capitalism concept that has degraded the cultural values, religious beliefs and traditions, should be aligned with the human-being’s virtues, strengths and goodness. The purpose of this research paper is to explore the current scenario of workplace spirituality in the 21st century in the Indian context, and is intended to develop and implement a framework for successful implementation of spirituality at work. It also stresses on the need to bring humanism back in the workplace that was overthrown by the corporate greed for profit.

Троице-Сергиев монастырь: вклады русских государей

This article reveals the contribution of the Kingdom to the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra through the prism of personal relations between the Orthodox Church and the highest state authorities, and thus reveals the role of the Emperors and the Church in the history of Russian art, as well as in the preservation of Russian national culture and identity. Russian monarchs’ pilgrimage and contribution to the monastery of St. Sergius of Radonezh is considered an important factor in strengthening ties between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Monarchy, as well as the entire Russian society, supporting its national idea. Russian art was formed in the spiritual paradigm of Christianity, immediately after the adoption of the unified faith (unity of faith) up to the seventeenth century. The analysis of gifts and contributions, as well as their artistic value, allows to conclude that the contributions of the sovereigns constitute the summit of achievements of modern Russian art culture. From this point of view, the Church, in particular the Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra, against the background of known political upheavals in the country in the twentieth century, became the keeper of an invaluable cultural and artistic treasury and spiritual core of Great Russia, showing not only a model of serving the Orthodoxy, its people and country, but also a saving perspective for the Russian State of historical survival in the new epoch.

Василий Розанов и Московский университет

Abstract. In the article the author attempts to examine V.V. Rozanov’s early philosophic works through the prism of his declared aspiration for formulating the theoretical basics of prospective Russian science. The author comes to the conclusion that the main goal of the early pursuits of the philosopher was the wish to present to the Moscow University the image of integral science, and to the Russian culture – the new spiritual paradigm that would agree with its claim to individuality. The author notes that Rozanov’s failure in those attempts caused his affinity with the decadent circles in 1897. At the same time the author points out that the university failed to serve as support and bulwark of order for the autocracy against revolution.

Статтю присвячено збереженні міфічних цінностей літератури як гаранту існування духовної парадигми присутності у творчості Віри Вовк. Інтерпретація цієї проблематики окреслюється завдяки акцентуванню основних мотивів, які поетеса використовувала в своїй творчості. Акцентується увага на християнських паралелях, на грецьких та римських міфах і на широкому спектрі рідної української етнокультури Карпат. На загальному тлі здійсненого аналізу постає ширший висновок про існування духовної парадигми мислення Віри Вовк. Ідеалістичний світогляд поетеси, з’єднується з художніми світами, які можуть існувати поруч і взаємно доповнюватись.

Mohe Dusa: Konstruksi Akuntansi Kerugian

The purpose of this study is to construct loss accounting practice by traditional tranders in Gorontalo. This research uses spiritual paradigm. The approach used is Islamic ethnometodology. The stages of data analysis are amal; ilmu; iman; informasi wahyu, and ihsan (amiiin). The results of study found three loss accounting practices; first, reducing the amount of cake sales; second, barter system; third, distributing cakes to local residents. These accounting practices are driven by spirit of patience, tolerance, mutual help, and sharing. These spirits live because of fear of sinning (mohe dusa).

Evolutionary ontology and biofile transformation of culture

The author claims that two large transformations of the human adaptive strategy have occurred in the course of our species’ history: first, the self-preservation modification at the beginning of the anatomically modern humans’ origination; second, the spiritual abandonment of live nature two millennia before the end of the Neolithic culture. Moreover the third transformation, the shift from the predatory spiritual paradigm to the biofile paradigm, has to be undergone today. This transformation is specified with respect to the natural sciences and education system. *** Ontologia evolutiva e transformação biofílica da cultura ***O autor afirma que no curso da história da nossa espécie ocorreram duas grandes transformações na estratégia adaptativa humana: primeiro, a modificação da autopreservação no início da origem anatomicamente moderna dos humanos; segundo, o abandono espiritual da natureza viva dois milênios antes do fim da cultura neolítica. E a terceira transformação, esta a ser efetivada hoje, corresponde à mudança do paradigma espiritual predatório para o paradigma biofílico. SINCERITY: A VALUE REALITY IN BUILDING RELIGIOSITY FOR ACCOUNTING STUDENTS

This research aims to describe the value reality in building religiosity for accounting students. This research uses spiritual paradigm with qualitative approach and ulul albab perspective in constructing ontological, epistemological, and research method. The data was obtained through observation, interviews, and library research in one of the reputable Islamic-based universities in Indonesia which has an accounting program. Using the methods of prayer, dhikr , tafakkur , and tawakkal , this research has succeeded in describing the value as a reflection of faith. Therefore, it is expected that accounting education is able to produce students with religious, amanah , and noble character.

Interrogating disability epistemologies: towards collective dis/ability intersectional emotional, affective and spiritual autoethnographies for healing

Special education labeling ignores historical, emotional, spiritual, sociocultural effects of labeling Black and Brown students with disabilities. Utilizing critical disability studies, critical race theory and spiritual paradigm, we interrogate construction and expression of differences of Learning Disability and Speech and Language Impairment. We asked: How does being labeled with a special education disability category, as Black and Brown people impact emotional, affective, and spiritual development in and around schools? Reminded about our disability labels relationship to (re)production of racism and ableism, our counter-narratives deconstruct the normativity of racism and ableism in and around schools. Our findings illuminated how emotion, affect and spirituality played a role in our intersectional oppressions and non-normative construction of our differences. We call for collective emotional, affective and spiritual autoethnographies for change at the nexus of special education labeling and intersectionalities.
