PENGEMBANGAN KOMPETENSI SIKAP DALAM PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA SECARA HOLISTIK BERSUMBER QUR’AN

AbstractThis study aims to describe the process of developing spiritual and social attitudes competencies, in a holistic learning of mathematics sourced in the Qur'an. Qualitative research is applied in the preparation of teaching materials based on the integration of core competencies of revised Curriculum-13, and the development of attitude competencies in mathematics learning based on the Qur'anic. The subjects of the study were SMP / MTs students in the lessons of Straight Line Equation. The research data includes documents, learning recordings, and interviews, and it’s analyzed using the Miles & Huberman Method. The study resulted in: (1) mathematics teaching materials on the topic of the Straight Line Equations sourced of the Qur'anic (al Anfal) verses 65-66, to teach holistically, (2) The process of developing competency attitudes is carried out as long as the learning takes place from introduction to closing the lesson. In developing a spiritual attitude, two students are assigned to read the verses of the Qur’an and their translations, then discuss the content of mathematics. Students are aroused by curiosity with questions about verse, working collaboratively with friends, choosing the best ideas (tolerant), and being responsible for completing tasks. In developing skills and knowledge competencies, students are guided to achieve the process of modeling problems related to the Qur'anic verses, so that they find problem solving procedures, or mathematical concepts from the topics studied.Keywords: attitude competency development, holistic mathematics learning.

The impact of a practice-based educational strategy on the development of spiritual competencies of nursing students

ABSTRACTEducation, and especially clinical practice, is important for developing spiritual competencies in nursing students. This descriptive qualitative study, conducted in the Netherlands between January-May 2016, provides insight into the impact of a practice-based educational strategy to develop the perceived spiritual competencies of nursing students, and identifies factors that influence their learning experiences. The strategy consisted of a spiritual care assignment undertaken during a clinical placement. It comprised a theoretical perspective on spirituality; an interview with a patient about spirituality; a description of the student’s vision of spiritual care; and a reflective report describing the learning experience. Participants were third-year bachelor nursing students from a Christian University in the Netherlands. Data were collected by means of reflective reports (n = 30) and through semi-structured interviews (n = 9). The assignment increased the spiritual awareness of students and the nursing team; stimulated students’ ability to communicate with patients about spirituality; and influenced students’ personal experiences with spiritual care. Factors influencing learning experiences included personal perceptions; interaction with others; role models; clinical setting; and preparation. The assignment contributed to the development of competencies related to spiritual awareness and collection of information about patients’ own spirituality and needs. Peer groups should be organized in which nursing students can discuss their learning experiences. More research is needed to develop educational strategies focusing on the nursing process and integration of spirituality in organisational policies. This study is limited by the sample of mainly female and Christian participants.

STABILITAS PEMERINTAHAN DALAM PERSPEKTIF ALQURAN

Discourse on the concept of government is always being a lactual issue in Indonesia, especially in the lead up to regional elections or presidential elections. But essentially legislative elections cannot be ignored, each contestant in the general election competes to attract the votes of the people without regard to their spiritual competence. In this case, Alquran has formulated the basic concept of the government system. And this article tries to describe these basic concepts by using thematic and semantic approaches. By tracing various relevant terms, at least the Alquran uses awliya', khalifah, and ulil amri terms. These terms show leadership includes the executive and legislature. To be a leader in a government, at least professional competence and physical abilities are needed. The stability of a government depends absolutely on the ability of the leader to carry out his obligations. Although religious status is still disputed, but as long as it is not related to the divine aspect, the people must obey the leader even though many things are not liked by him

The Priest of Han as a Theme in the Christian-Shamanist Interfaith Dialogue

In the article I would see into the ‘priest of han’ as a theme which Nam-dong Suh, one of the fathers of the Minjung theology, has developed, and suggest how he has made a creative and critical encounter with the shamanistic hanpuri. First, I examine in the first step how influential the shamanism is still in Korean society. In this connection I would investigate briefly how the shamanism is incorporated in Korean Protestantism. Second, I explain han and hanpuri in the context of Korean shamanism. Third, I analyze how the Minjung theology has employed the themes of han and hanpuri. Lastly, I give some suggestions about a spiritual formation for the ministry. From the Christian encounter with the shamanism I draw a few consequences. First of all, I suggest that Christian minister should learn something from the attitude of shamans towards the weak and oppressed. They have “a special predilection for the weak and oppressed” (I. M. Lewis) and are ready to be in solidarity with others in suffering. Of course, Christian minister need not to suffer the initiation sickness like shamans, but they must be trained to attain a spiritual competency to sympathize and to be in solidarity with the little people in suffering. Second, I think that the church should be earnest to the priesthood of han. It is not just the duty of the minister. The priesthood of han should be reinterpreted from the perspective of the priesthood of all believers.

Comparing Behavioral Health Graduate Students in Spiritual and Religious Competence

When it comes to the integration of spirituality and religion within mental health training, standards remain ambiguous, particularly in non-religious affiliated institutions and individual practitioners. The aim of this study sought to examine the competence levels of mental health graduate students utilizing the Revised Spiritual Competence Scale II (SCS-R-II) and the Spiritual and Religious Competency Assessment (SARCA). Participants were recruited by contacting over 68 program directors of both Christian and secular accredited counseling, psychology, and social work schools in the United States and through the Counselor Education and Supervision Network Listserv and American Psychological Association of Graduate Students directory. 125 students with varying degrees of professed religious affiliation, completed the survey. Counselor trainees scored highest on both measures, yet without statistical significance. Students with very strong personal religious affiliation and attendees of Christian affiliated schools scored statistically higher on both measures. Findings indicated Christian institutions and trainees who professed very high Christian affiliation seemed to possess greater competence at integrating spiritual and religious constructs within mental health counseling. However, the results are limited due to sample size. Further, results pointed to convergent validity for the SCS-R-II and SARCA. Implications and future recommendations for behavior science educators and clinicians are discussed.

Factors affecting spiritual care practices of oncology nurses: a qualitative study

Spiritual care is a component of the holistic nursing approach. But in practice, nurses face many challenges during the implementation of spirituality care. Thus, the aim of this study was to explore the barriers and facilitators affecting spiritual care practices by oncology nurses. This qualitative study was conducted using a conventional content analysis based on semi-structured interviews with 25 participants, including cancer patients and their family members, oncology nurses, physicians, psychologist, and spiritual researcher-therapists. The results showed that the two main themes of the study, "spiritual competency" and "spiritual inefficiency" in healthcare organization, were two major factors in implementing spiritual care practices for cancer patients by oncology nurses. The findings of this study emphasize the necessity of developing coherent spiritual care programs in hospitals and removing administrative barriers. Teaching spiritual care in nursing courses at schools and continuing education programs for training of healthcare team members are necessary. Likewise, forming a spiritual care team with oncology nurses at the center and defining their members' roles and responsibilities are essential. Hospital managers can also make fruitful steps by establishing a monitoring system and identifying the needs and barriers for spiritual care in oncology settings.

Spiritual Competency Scale: A Confirmatory Factor Analysis

ABSTRACTThis study used confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to validate the 21-item Spiritual Competency Scale (SCS–R–II) with data from 176 participants. Moreover, this study examined correlations between the SCS–R–II and the Multicultural Counseling Knowledge and Awareness Scale, and the descriptive characteristics of participants' scores on the SCS–R–II.

Building spiritual sensitivity through an online spirituality course

ABSTRACTThe National Association of Social Workers and Council on Social Work Education define cultural competence and acknowledge the role of spirituality within cultural experiences. Both describe cultural competence as a linear experience that begins with awareness and sensitivity, leading to competence. Understanding the role of spiritual sensitivity in building spiritual competence is essential in social work practice where spirituality informs both assessment and intervention. This qualitative study examines the experiences of 37 undergraduate students in an online spirituality course. Results reveal the emergence of spiritual sensitivity indicated by an awareness of spiritual diversity and need for spiritual competence.

Madrasah, Quality and Strategic Plan

This paper aims to understand the the quality improvement of Madrasah as one of the Islamic education institutions of Indonesia, through the construction of strategic plan (renstra) for the development of Islamic education. Madrasah quality must be well managed so that it can realize the goals and noble values of Islamic education. Its missions are actually heavier than public schools because of the broader range of functions and tasks. Its goal as Islamic education institutions includes spiritual competence, religious character, in addition to social, personal, academic and vocational competencies. This paper finds out that managerial stages to improve the quality of madrasah are: inventory of main activities; strategy formulation; action plan and scheme of procedure for developing quality learning. According to the experience of KMI Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor in the construction of the Science and Technology development strategic plan, it involves some actions, such as: To formulate a strategy; describe real challenges; goal achievement strategy; target and size for each strategy; SWOT analysis; alternative steps for solving; action plan and implementation program; and schedule of activities. The strategic objectives, including the following: curriculum and learning process; madrasah leadership and management; organization and institutions; workforce; financing and funding; learners; the role of the community; madrasah environment and culture .

KOMPETENSI SPIRITUAL PENDIDIK (Suatu Kajian pada Unsur Kalbu)

Education is a process of fostering physical and spiritual, so that educators who have multi-competence education: paedagogi; personal; social and spiritual. Spiritual competence can be enhanced by improving the quality of the heart. Qalbu potentially good has characteristics such as mentioned in the Quran: qalbun saliim; qalbun muniib; qalbun muallafun; qalbun muthmainnun; taqwal qulub; sakiinah's heart; and ra'fatul qalbi warahmatuh. On the other hand, qalbu must also be preserved from the character which makes it hardened like a stone so it is difficult to obtain guidance from Allah SWT, ie atsimun qalbuhu; ghillun fi al qalbi; man aghfalna qalbuhu. The educator who constantly improves his spiritual competence by reviving the good character of his qalbunya will be easier to realize the ideals of education more effectively, because he is in harmony with the direction and target desired Rabbnya.

Leadership Model in Integrated Islamic Educational Institutions

Leadership has an important role in the educational institutions. The increasing number of implementation models of integrative Islamic education institutions demand greater competence of the leaders in order to perform their duties effectively. The most complex integrative Islamic educational institution model is developed based on boarding school by integrating formal and nonformal education as well as cross ladder as developed by Al Mukmin Islamic Boarding School (PPIM) Ngruki and modern boarding schools in general. The result of this study shows that the effective leadership model of an integrative Islamic educational institution is a democratic-transformational model. This model needs the institutional leaders to have professional, personal, social, and spiritual competences. The integration of the educational institutions management should be done thoroughly starting from the integration of curriculum management, human resources, infrastructure, financing, public relations and marketing, and other aspects.

Kurikulum Bagi Anak Berkebutuhan Khusus (ABK)

Curriculum change occurred nowadays shows that the curriculum is prone to social changes. Although the changes remain happened, there seems no curriculum which distinguishes its use between normal students and students with special needs (either physical or mentality). In fact, the curriculum should be enjoyed not only by the normal students but also the students with special needs. Hence, they can obtain equal education system without feeling a sense of discrimination from the government. Although the curriculum is the same, teachers may apply different strategies and methods. Hence, the teachers are not only professional in teaching, but also has specific competence than those who teach normal students. What I mean competence here is not professional, pedagogy, personality, or social competences. Rather, it is a spiritual competence where teachers are teaching by heart, not by material (money).

MANAJEMEN SUMBER DAYA MANUSIA BERBASIS KOMPETENSI SEKOLAH DASAR ISLAM DI TULUNGAGUNG

<span class="fontstyle0">Islamic elementary school is a based Islamic elementary education institution that gives students basic competencies to continue their study to the more higher level. Recently the society’s trust toward the school is getting increase. One of the factors affecting the increase of the society’s interest toward the Islamic elementary school is the quality of the teachers who have integrity, comitment and competencies. This research was intended to analyze and find out: 1) planning of Competence Based Human Resource Management in Islamic Elementary School; 2) developing strategies of Competence Based Human Resource Management in Islamic Elementary School; and 3) the effects of developing Competence Based Human Resource Management in Islamic Elementary School. This study used a qualitative approach by with multi-case study using multisite research design. The data were collected using in-depth interview, participant observation, and documentation. The results of this research revealed that: 1) planning of Human Resource in Islamic Elementary School is religious-based competency approach. The steps are: a) need analysis, b) the determination of the standard qualification of teachers (academic, religious, experience, motivation and ‘dakwah”); c) selection, with open system selection, d)<br />apprenticeship and evaluation, include: competence, motivation and commitment of devotion. 2) Developing strategies of Competence Based Human Resource Management in Islamic Elementary School by synergizing the continuous training and development (CTD), performance evaluation and build a spirit of integration ‘dakwah’ and education. Goal of human resources development in the aspects of: a) improving the commitment and internship through giving compensation, career development, personal and family guidance, and building good cooperation ; b) improving academic and spiritual competence through training and socialization, supervisison, further studies, motivation that working is religious good deeds, praying together, and getting<br />close to Allah (al qiyadah); 3) the effects of developing human resource were teachers have high motivation, they became models for the students, they are loyal and committed to serve and give attention to the students. From the findings above it can be concluded that the human resource management at Islamic elementary school is spirituality based human resource management.<br /></span><span class="fontstyle2">Key Words</span><span class="fontstyle0">: Human Resource Management, based competence, Islamic Elementary School.</span>

The Nature and Function of Meditation and Prayer in Childhood and Adolescence

This article explores the nature and function of meditation and prayer in childhood and adolescence. Research has consistently demonstrated that not only can meditation and prayer be practiced in these age ranges but that it is likely that youth already practice them or at least have had some exposure to them. We make the case that this is a critical area to understand to effectively apply the standards of competent clinical practice set forth by the Association for Spiritual, Ethical, and Religious Values in Counseling (ASERVIC, 2009) in its Spiritual Competencies, while discussing the benefits, limitations, and implications of meditation and prayer in childhood and adolescence.

Well-qualified employees "out" compassionate employees "in". Organizational ambidexterity in SMEs in Turkey: combination of conflicting organizational strategies

The purpose of this paper is to determine the relationships among compassion, conscientiousness trait, and employee performance. The purpose of this paper is to determine the relationships among compassion, conscientiousness trait, and employee performance. Findings revealed that there were significant relationships among compassion, conscientiousness trait, and employee performance. Compassion, which is in the field of positive psychology and increasing in importance in the recent times, is separated from concepts such as pity, empathy, and sympathy due to many characteristics. Compassion is an emotional response that involves being respectful, being sensitive, giving close attention and active and positive participation towards others with a desire to help. A high level of this spiritual competency positively affects the performance of employees. Accordingly, compassionate employees create more productive and trustworthy workplaces.

Students’ Outcome Expectation on Spiritual and Religious Competency: A Hierarchical Regression Analysis

In this study, 74 master’s-level counseling students from various programs completed a questionnaire inquiring about their perceived program environment in relation to the topics of spirituality and religion (S/R), program emphasis on nine specific S/R competencies, as well as their outcome expectations toward being S/R competent through training. The results of hierarchical regression analysis supported the impact of both learning environment and specific S/R competencies on student outcome expectations. Implications for counselor educators are considered.

Islam in the 21st century: Can the Islamic belief system and the ethics of social work be reconciled?

ABSTRACTNational tragedies such as the September 11th attacks (also known as “911”), the San Bernardino attack on December 2, 2014 and the Orlando murders at Pulse nightclub on June 13, 2016, which were all committed by sympathizers of Islamic terrorist groups, have fueled anti-Muslim sentiment and have led to a spike in hate attacks on Muslims (Siemaszko, 2015). Sadly, these acts of terrorism have created a climate of Islamophobia, or “an exaggerated fear, hatred, and hostility toward Islam and Muslims that is perpetuated by negative stereotypes resulting in bias, discrimination, and the marginalization and exclusion of Muslims from social, political, and civic life” (Gallup, 2015). Since the results of a 2015 Gallup report found 43% of Americans have some degree of prejudice toward Muslims, this manuscript will address the following question: “Can the Islamic belief system and the ethics of social work be reconciled?” To respond to the primary research question, we will address the following three questions: (a) How has anti-Islamic bigotry impacted Islamic communities? (b) How does the Islamic belief system align with the ethics of the social work profession? and (c) What are the key Islamic beliefs and values which are central to ensuring spiritual competence among social work professionals working with Muslim clients? Since social workers “pursue social change, particularly with and on behalf of vulnerable and oppressed individuals and groups of people” (National Association of Social Workers, 2016), this manuscript will provide parallels between the Islamic belief system and ethics of the social work profession.

Stories Matter: Narrative Themes of Counselor Educators' Religious and Spiritual Competency

Using narrative inquiry, the author explored the multicultural aspects of religious and spiritual experiences, assumptions, and patterns of 9 counselor educators to understand the impact that experiences and beliefs have when supervising and teaching counseling students. A gap exists between counselor standards, ethics, competencies, and practice, because counseling students receive mixed messages about addressing spiritual and religious concerns. Through hermeneutic analysis, 6 themes emerged: (a) religious and spiritual journeys, (b) religious and spiritual practices, (c) relationships, (d) marginalization, (e) modeling, and (f) risk and taboo. Trustworthiness strategies, implications for counselor education, limitations, and directions for future research are described.
