XIV. A farther account of the ascending of drops of spirit of wine between two glass planes twenty inches and an half long; with a table of the distances from the touching ends, and the angles of elevation

The Spirit of Wine did not move between the Planes, with that nimbleness as Oil of Oranges, which gave me the Liberty to observe the Angles with more Deliberation.

XII. An account of an experiment touching the proportions of the ascent of spirit of wine between two glass planes, whose surfaces were plac'd at certain different distances from each other

I Took two Glass Planes, about 6 inches long, and two broad: These (being made clean) I separated at each end by the number of 32 pieces of Brass Laminæ , whose thickness, when laid one upon another, and press'd together by Screws, made a distance between the Planes equal to (as near as I could measure) 1/16 of an Inch.

II. A way to make two clear spirituous inflammable liquors, which differ very tittle to taste and smell and being mixed together, do give a fine carnation colour, without sensible fermentation or alteration

To make the first of these liquors, put a small handful of dryed red roses into a glass bottle, pour on them rectified spirit of wine till it cover them an inch, let them infuse in the cold all together in the bottle for four or five hours, then pour off the spirit of wine, which will be clear and no colour.

This was imparted in a letter, as follows; The time of the year invites me to intimate to you, that among the other uses of the experiment, I long since presented the Society, of preserving whelps taken out of the dams womb, and other fætus's, or parts of them, in spirit of wine;
