Objective To explore the effect of the WeChat joint nursing outpatient follow-up on the quality of life of patients with spinal cord injury. Methods A total of 80 cases of spinal cord injury patients from January 2013 to January 2016 who were eligible for inclusion criteria were selected as the study subjects, and were divided into experimental group and control group according to the random number table method, 40 cases of each group. The experimental group used WeChat platform to carry out continuous nursing care in the treatment of outpatient follow-up, and the control group used nursing outpatient follow-up to carry out continuous nursing. The scores of Function Independent Measure(FIM), family support score, WHOQOL-100 score, complication rate and readmission rate were recorded and compared between the two groups before intervention, 12 months after intervention. Results Before intervention, there was no significant difference in the scores of functional independence(FIM), family support and WHOQOL-100 between the two groups(P>0.05). After 12 months of intervention, the experimental group FIM scores, family support scores, WHOQOL-100 scores were better than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The total complication rate in the experimental group was 42.5% and that in the control group was 65.0%, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). The rate of readmission in the experimental group was 15.0% and that in the control group was 22.5%, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion The WeChat joint nursing outpatient follow-up can improve the quality of life of patients with spinal cord injury and reduce the incidence of complications and readmission rate.
