The Dynamics of the Progressive Islamic Movement in South Sulawesi

This study outlines the concept of Progressive Islam—a term for Muhammadiyah’s religious perspective—both historically and based on the ideological foundations of the Muhammadiyah Organization. After a conceptual explanation, this study analyzes the struggles of Progressive Islam in South Sulawesi through historical aspects and direct observations as a Muhammadiyah activist. The study reveals that the early generations of Muhammadiyah in South Sulawesi implemented the ethos of Progressive Islam through the development of educational and da’wah enterprises. However, the emergence of cadres who established different organizations, such as Hidayatullah and Wahdah Islamiyah, highlights ideological challenges and weaknesses in consistent cadre formation. Furthermore, conservatism among Muhammadiyah members in South Sulawesi poses obstacles to actualizing Progressive Islamic thought, despite efforts to address this through Muhammadiyah’s Tarjih Ulama Education program. This study offers practical benefits by providing recommendations to strengthen cadre formation and organizational consolidation to ensure Progressive Islam remains relevant in addressing contemporary challenges. These dynamics serve as an important foundation for sustaining the progressiveness of Progressive Islam in South Sulawesi.

Digital Leadership in Realizing Bureaucratic Reform in the South Sulawesi Provincial Government

Bureaucratic reform efforts over the years have yet to yield optimal results, leaving government bureaucracy associated with pathologies such as corruption, collusion, nepotism (KKN), slow service performance, and an inability to meet public satisfaction. Digital leadership among heads of local government agencies is expected to contribute significantly to achieving bureaucratic reform. This study aims to analyze the role of digital leadership in facilitating bureaucratic reform in South Sulawesi Province and to formulate a digital leadership model for effective bureaucratic reform. The research employs digital leadership theory as outlined by Klein (2020), which encompasses business characteristics, attitudinal characteristics, and general characteristics, serving as the analytical framework to assess the state of digital leadership among local government leaders in South Sulawesi. The study adopts a qualitative descriptive method, with primary data collected through observations and interviews with key informants. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. The findings conclude that: 1) Not all local government leaders possess effective digital leadership skills, which results in suboptimal contributions to bureaucratic reform. This is evident through the evaluation of business characteristics, attitudinal characteristics, and general characteristics that have yet to support reform in institutional structuring, administrative processes, human resource management, and service delivery. 2) The researcher formulated the “S4P Digital Leadership Model,” developed from Klein’s (2020) digital leadership model, which is believed to contribute to more effective bureaucratic reform. The novelty of this model lies in the incorporation of local wisdom dimensions—Sipakatau, Sipakalebbi, Sipakinge, and Sirri na Pacce—as well as digital leadership prerequisites such as digital literacy, innovation, and collaboration. This comprehensive, contextually relevant, and responsive model can be implemented across different regions in Indonesia, utilizing local cultural values as guiding principles for governance and public service delivery.

Implementation of Convergence (Cross-Sectoral) Action for the Acceleration of Stunting Reduction in Palopo City, South Sulawesi, Indonesia

Background: The global trend of stunting incidence has been declining from 2000 to 2022; however, the WHO still categorizes Indonesia as a country with a very high prevalence of stunting. A multisectoral and multi-stakeholder approach is one of the methods utilized in the National Action Plan for Accelerating Stunting Reduction. This study aims to analyze the implementation of convergence actions for accelerating stunting reduction in Palopo City. Methods: The study was conducted for 1 months in Palopo City. This study was a qualitative study with 14 informants from different regional government agencies (OPDs) involved in the Palopo City Stunting Reduction Task Force (TPPS). Data related to the implementation convergence action for Accelerating Stunting Reduction in Palopo City owere obtained through in-depth interviews. Qualitative data were processed by searching for keywords and then content analysis was conducted. Qualitative data analysis uses an inductive thinking process. Results: The study reveals that at the initial stage, each OPD recognizes the importance of cross-sectoral participation. However, challenges persist in the utilization of human resources and budgeting. The collaboration process requires improvements as planning, governance structure, and actor roles are not yet optimal, with some OPDs still lacking clarity on their roles. Leadership in Palopo City involves regulation and communication, yet some OPDs lack specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulations, though inter-agency communication is fairly effective. The outputs of stunting interventions focus on health, education, infrastructure, and social welfare, with some programs being directly integrated while others provide indirect support. Conclusion: The implementation of convergence actions for accelerating stunting reduction in Palopo City is not yet optimal, with primary challenges in the utilization of human resources and budgeting. The collaboration process, leadership, and program outputs still require improvement, particularly in planning, governance structure, and inter-agency communication.

Analysis of Risk Factors for the Incidence of Hyperemesis Gravidarum at RSIA Fatimah and at RSUD Haji Makassar

Background: 32.26% of pregnant women in South Sulawesi in 2018 experienced disorders or complications during their pregnancy, 24.3% of them experienced disorders in the form of continuous vomiting / diarrhea. If nausea and vomiting occurs more than 5 times a day, it is called hyperemesis gravidarum. One of the risk factors for hyperemesis gravidarum is education. a person's education greatly affects the ability to think and the level of understanding and acceptance of something that is conveyed. Objective: This study aims to analyze the risk factors for the occurrence of hyperemesis gravidarum in pregnant women at the Fatimah Mother and Child Hospital and at the Regional General Hospital Haji Makassar. Method: This type of research is an observational analytic research with a case control approach. The population and sample used are all pregnant women who are recorded in the register book for 2020-2022 at RSIA Fatimah Makassar and RSUD Haji Makassar with a sample of 75 cases and controls that met the inclusion criteria. Result: The results showed that the prevalence of hyperemesis gravidarum at RSIA Fatimah Makassar and RSU Haji Makassar 2020-2022 was 50% (n = 75). The results of statistical analysis were mother's age OR 0.389 (95% CI = 0.174-0.870), Parity OR 0.469 (95% CI = 0.244-0.901), Education OR 3.083 (95% CI = 1.536-6.190), Occupation OR 1.158 ( CI 95% = 0.547-2.451), The results of bivariate analysis, namely maternal education OR 3.083 (95% CI = 1.536-6.190) is a risk factor for the occurrence of hyperemesis gravidarum. Conclusion: Maternal education is a risk factor for hyperemesis gravidarum with an OR value of 3.083 > 1 and a p-value = 0.002 <0.05.

CULTIVATING RELIGIOUS MODERATION VALUES THROUGH MANGAJI TUDANG AT MA’HAD ALY IN SOUTH SULAWESI

<p><em>This study attempts to examine in more depth the learning with the Mangaji Tudang system as an effort to instill the values of religious moderation in students of Ma'had 'Aly in South Sulawesi, especially at Ma'had 'Aly DDI Mangkoso. Data collection in this study used three techniques, namely observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that Ma'had 'Aly DDI Mangkoso focuses on the field of Fiqh and its ushul (takhassus Fiqh wa Usuluhu). Learning carried out with the Mangaji Tudang model is a specialty of Ma'had Aly in South Sulawesi, including at Ma'had 'Aly DDI Mangkoso by means of a group of students listening to the teacher (anregurutta) reading, translating, explaining, and interpreting books, then each student will pay attention to making notes and giving meaning especially to words that are difficult to understand. The model of instilling religious moderation values through Mangaji Tudang learning is carried out by conveying wise messages that soothe the people and focus on the deepening of inclusive fiqh, the balance between aqli and naqli arguments, and strengthening the concept of washatiyah Islam. This research provides. This research will greatly contribute to the model of Islamic boarding school education, especially at the higher education level of Islamic boarding schools (Ma'had 'Aly) in teaching classical books that are integrated with the instillation of religious moderation values.</em>.</p>

Drivers of Change: Youth Action in Lempangang Village, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi in the Service of Pancasila Village

The purpose of this article is a form of dedication to the Pancasila village in Boto Lempangang to strengthen the sense of unity among the community but also to make a real contribution to improving the quality of life of the village residents. Activities such as social service, education, skills training, and environmental initiatives are a means of implementing Pancasila values in everyday life. Their work has become an inspiration for other villages to work together to maintain and develop the values that are the identity of the Indonesian nation. This research uses qualitative research using a case study design. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, presentation, conclusion drawing, and verification stages. The research results show that the initiative carried out by the youth of Lempangang Village in the Kampung Pancasila program has had a significant positive impact on the local community. Through various programs such as agricultural counseling, national education and healthy living, developing MSMEs, and increasing food security, village youth have succeeded in strengthening local capacity and creating sustainable change. These programs not only improve economic welfare and public health but also strengthen national values and social solidarity.

STRATEGIES FOR IMPROVING CHILD WELFARE THROUGH MULTIFACTOR INTERVENTIONS TO ADDRESS STUNTING IN MAKASSAR CITY, SOUTH SULAWESI

ABSTRACTStunting is a chronic nutritional problem frequently occurring in children, with factors such asfood access, nutritional intake, social factors, and economic conditions playing significant rolesin its manifestation. This study aims to identify effective strategies to reduce stunting ratesamong children in Makassar City, South Sulawesi. Utilizing a quantitative approach, the studyconducted household surveys with structured questionnaires involving 180 respondents, whowere parents of children under five experiencing stunting. Data analysis was performed usingstructural path analysis with SmartPLS4. The findings indicate that strengthening socialprotection systems, improving access to quality food, nutrition education, health educationprograms, and family empowerment are crucial factors in preventing stunting. These resultsprovide significant contributions to the development of targeted and sustainableinterventions to address chronic nutritional issues in South Sulawesi, particularly in Makassar City.

Reduction of limonite ore from South Sulawesi with additive Na2SO4 using carbon monoxide

ABSTRACT This study utilised a selective reduction method to generate ferronickel from limonitic ore, followed by a magnetic separation stage. The research explored the kinetics and the influence of time and temperature on nickel content and recovery. Sodium sulfate was incorporated as an additive, and carbon monoxide (CO) gas served as the reductant in a vertical tube furnace. Magnetic separation employed a permanent magnet set at 500 G. Reduction took place at temperatures of 900°C, 1000°C, and 1100°C, with varying durations from 30 min to 180 min. Optimal recovery and nickel grade were achieved at 1100°C for 180 min, reaching 70.07% and 8.49%, respectively. Increasing the reduction temperature and time correlated with enhanced recovery and nickel grade.

Sustainability Study and Management Scenarios of Rammang-Rammang Geopark, Maros Regency, South Sulawesi Province

Rammang-Rammang Geopark has become one of the growing tourist destinations. The need for research aims to understand the sustainability status and implement sustainable tourism management strategies and scenarios in the area. The method used in this research is a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. Rapfish and MICMAC were used as analysis tools. The results of Rapfish analysis show that the environmental sustainability and institutional status are relatively positive and well-maintained, but improvements need to be made in the social and economic dimensions of the community. MICMAC analysis showed that variables such as protection and rehabilitation of local flora, community participation, and integration of management programs significantly influenced the management system. Therefore, the combination of the two analytical tools formulates a management scenario to increase community participation, sustainable tourism education, coordination between management agencies and environmental management, and economic diversification through promotion, marketing, and digital campaigns on environmentally oriented tourism in a more serious geopark area to ensure the sustainability of ecotourism aspects.

Pengembangan Survei Kebutuhan Pendidikan Dan Pelatihan Kepariwisataan: Peningkatkan Kapasitas Masyarakat Desa Sanrobone, Kabupaten Takalar

Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi, possesses diverse tourism potential encompassing nature, culture, history, marine, and man-made attractions. Tourism development in this region contributes to the improvement of the local economy. However, based on observations and needs analysis conducted by the Community Service team from Makassar Tourism Polytechnic, training is necessary. Tourism managers of Sanrobone Village require collaboration between the government, educational institutions, and local communities. The tourism training program implemented by Makassar Tourism Polytechnic aims to support the development and improvement of human resource quality in Sanrobone Village, Takalar Regency, as well as increase tourism knowledge and awareness among local communities. Through this program, it is expected to assist in the development and management of Sanrobone Village to become an excellent tourist village. The interactive method of delivering material that considers participants' needs is key to the success of this program. The materials include Tourism Awareness and Sapta Pesona, Service Excellence, Digital Marketing, and an explanation of the requirements to meet the ADWI criteria. The conclusion from the training implementation is to maximize the natural, cultural, and historical potential in Sanrobone Village, thus impacting the increase of community tourism awareness in the environment surrounding the Tourist Attraction. Human resource development training for managers is expected to help realize an excellent tourist village."

Pendampingan Inventarisasi Atraksi, Aksesibilitas, dan Amenitas Desa sebagai Komponen Penilaian Anugerah Desa Wisata (ADWI) Kemenparekraf

Tukamasea Village in Maros Regency, South Sulawesi, has significant potential to be developed as a tourist village. However, this potential has not been fully identified and utilized optimally. This community service project aims to provide guidance in the inventory and development of tourist attractions, accessibility, and amenities in Tukamasea Tourist Village. The methods used include field observations, focus group discussions (FGD), and training for the local community. The inventory results show that Tukamasea Village has various potential tourist attractions, such as Dolli Bathing Tourism, Galung Dolli Tourism, Jodoh Hill, and the Red Flower Seed House. Accessibility to the village and between tourist sites is generally good, although some road sections still require improvements. Basic amenities like mosques, schools, and health centers are available, though tourism-supporting facilities still need enhancement. This project also involves empowering the community in tourist village management, including training for Pokdarwis members and local business actors. Development recommendations include improving infrastructure quality, diversifying tourist attractions, strengthening institutions, and implementing more effective promotional strategies. Through this activity, it is hoped that Tukamasea Village can optimize its tourism potential, increase tourist visits, and ultimately boost the local economy. The sustainability of this program needs to be maintained through ongoing collaboration between local government, academics, and the local community.

Evaluation of cultivation technology package and corn variety based on agronomy characters and leaf green indices

Abstract This study aimed to identify the best combination of corn technologies and varieties to increase yield, a study case in Torowang, South Sulawesi. The findings of this study used a split-plot design with three replications. The cultivation technology package is composed of planting spacing, chemical fertilizer, and biofertilizer, with three levels of treatment. Meanwhile, varieties treatment as subplot consisted of six varieties of treatment: Nasa 29, Bisi 18, Sinhas 1, NK7328, Pioneer 27, and ADV 313. The study determined the effectiveness of six agronomy and three chlorophyll pigment characters. Based on the results, varietal diversity dominates the differences in growth traits, both morphological and physiological. Varietal potential differs from the diversity of crop technology packages, which show no significant effect on all growth traits. However, the interaction between the growth package and varieties shows a significant effect, indicating that the crop technology package significantly affects the growth response. Yield was significantly correlated with plant height, 1,000 grain weight, peeled ear weight, chlorophyll content meter (CCM) chlorophyll, and NDVI-UAV. The total chlorophyll trait based on CCM showed a significant correlation with yield but did not correlate with NDVI-UAV. The study concluded that Pioneer 27 and ADV 313 varieties are recommended for cultivation in Takalar, with the combination of planting space of 75 × 20 cm + N:P:K fertilizer dose of 200:100:50 kg ha−1 + 25 kg of KNO3 + 5 cc L−1 of Eco-Farming fertilizer to Pioneer 27 (Pc2V5) recommended. Further dissemination is required in other regions.

Development of Cross-Sector Collaboration Indicators for Accelerating the Reduction of Stunting in South Sulawesi, Indonesia

Background: To reduce stunting, the government of Indonesia, which has the fifth-highest prevalence of stunting in toddlers, launched the National Strategy for the Acceleration of Stunting Prevention (StraNas Stunting). Despite involving multiple sectors, stunting rates remain high. This research aimed to develop cross-sector collaboration indicators to assess the effectiveness of cross-sector efforts in reducing stunting. Method: This qualitative study utilized a rapid assessment procedure (RAP) to generate cross-sector collaboration indicators through in-depth interviews with five key informants and four experts. The recurring themes from these interviews were identified as indicators, which were further refined. In the second phase, quantitative analysis was conducted with 50 respondents to test the developed indicators using Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) methods. Result: A total of 15 indicators and 41 sub-indicators of cross-sector collaboration were developed across five key dimensions: governance, administration, autonomy, mutuality, and norms. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was performed to validate the indicators, with the results showing that the Average Variance Extracted (AVE) for each dimension was greater than 0.5, and the Composite Reliability (CR) exceeded 0.7. These findings confirm the validity and reliability of the developed indicators. Conclusion: As recognized by experts, the theory of cross-sector collaboration has been further advanced by the cross-sector collaboration indicators generated in this study. Additionally, these indicators, which were based on five dimensions of collaboration, may be used to assess cross-sector performance for the Stunting Acceleration Program in Indonesia. The framework of this study for defining and assessing collaboration was expected to provide a foundation for further research.

Logistics Structure Analysis for Selayar Tangerine Supply Chain Mapping

Citrus fruits are in demand not only for their freshness, but also for their fiber content as nutrients and vitamins, especially vitamin C and vitamin A, which are beneficial for health. Selayar Islands Regency is a citrus development area in South Sulawesi Province. The citrus crop developed in Selayar Islands Regency is the tangerine variety. Along with the development of the citrus plant area, the population of citrus plants in Selayar Islands Regency increases every year. This study aims to describe the mapping of the Selayar tangerine supply chain structure through logistics cost analysis to map the distribution of income between supply chains. The number of respondents in this study was 45 people. This research uses descriptive analysis with convenience and snowball sampling methods to get an objective picture. This research uses logistics cost analysis using the Activity Based Costing method. The results showed that the levels involved in the supply chain are farmers, collectors, wholesalers, small traders, and consumers. The results of the logistics cost calculation show material handling costs as the highest cost of the entire Selayar tangerine supply chain cost.

Assessing the Response of Local Cocoa Clones of South Sulawesi for Resistance to Dieback Disease Caused by Lasiodiplodia theobromae

ABSTRACTLasiodiplodia theobromae causes several severe diseases in cocoa, including cocoa dieback disease. The dieback caused by L. theobromae on cocoa is considered an emerging disease in Sulawesi. The fungus colonises stem tissues, producing leaf chlorosis, wilting and sudden dieback. To cope with the dieback, selecting and planting existing clones with partial resistance to the pathogen would be a good strategy. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the resistance of locally selected cocoa clones in Sulawesi to L. theobromae infection. Ten cocoa clones were assessed in the laboratory and the greenhouse for disease severity caused by an isolate of L. theobromae. The responses of the clones visible in laboratory and greenhouse tests through stem‐wounded inoculation ranged from susceptible to tolerant. The majority of the clones (nine clones) showed a significantly severe dieback and necrotic lesions. In contrast, another clone, designated MCC 02, performed consistently better in suppressing dieback and reducing necrotic lesions. Symptoms on the leaves varied, including chlorotic, yellowing on leaf veins and sudden browning, while in the stem, necrotic lesions and vascular streaking from dark brown to black were consistently visible. The clone MCC 02, with its superior resistance to L. theobromae, holds great potential for use in breeding programs to produce promising progeny clones with good resistance, yield and quality.

Implementasi Sistem Informasi Manajemen Nikah Online (Simkah) dalam Administrasi Pernikahan di Kua Kecamatan Bajeng Kabupaten Gowa

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the online Marriage Management Information System (SIMKAH) in marriage administration at the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) of Bajeng District, Gowa Regency. The main focus of this research is to understand how SIMKAH is implemented and the obstacles faced in the process. This study raises two main questions: (1) What is the role of the KUA in implementing SIMKAH in Bajeng District, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi? and (2) What are the factors that hinder the implementation of SIMKAH in the KUA? This research uses a qualitative approach with triangulation methods in data collection, which involves observation, interviews, and documentation. The research informants consist of the Head of KUA and administrative staff directly involved in the implementation of SIMKAH. The approach used in this study is normative and juridical, which allows the researcher to understand the legal aspects and regulations related to SIMKAH. The results of the study show that the implementation of SIMKAH at the KUA of Bajeng District has made a positive contribution to improving the efficiency of marriage administration; however, several challenges remain, including limited human resources and inadequate technological infrastructure. These findings are expected to serve as an evaluation for improving technology-based marriage administration services at KUA.

Optimization of Long Line Management in Seaweed Farming: Strategies for Increasing Farmers' Group Income in Pinrang Regency, Indonesia

This research aims to explore the role of the long-line method in increasing the income of seaweed farmers in Pinrang Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia, while examining the challenges they face and the strategies they employ to overcome them. The study employs a qualitative case study approach, involving 15 seaweed farmers from various coastal villages within Pinrang Regency, representing diverse demographic backgrounds and experiences. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews, allowing for an in-depth understanding of the participants' farming practices and challenges. The findings indicate that seaweed farmers increase their income by optimizing resources, collaborating within farmer groups, and adapting to environmental and market changes. Strategies such as space optimization, material reuse, and knowledge sharing among farming communities significantly enhance productivity and sustainability. Furthermore, farmers employ adaptive techniques to mitigate environmental risks and market volatility, including using durable materials and processing seaweed into higher-value products. The implications of these findings are crucial for policymakers and development organizations, as they highlight the potential of sustainable farming practices in improving the livelihoods of coastal communities. Policymakers are encouraged to develop support programs that promote resource optimization, foster community-driven farming networks, and train farmers in adaptive strategies. However, the study's limitations, including the small sample size and reliance on self-reported data, may affect the generalizability of the results. Future research should incorporate larger, more diverse samples and objective measures to enhance the robustness of the findings, and explore the long-term impacts of the long-line method on income and sustainability.

The Effect of Safety Training and Supervision on The Use of Personal Protective Equipment Which Has Implications on Work Safety in Loading and Unloading at Maccini Baji Port, Maros, South Sulawesi

This study aims to analyze the influence of training and safety supervision on the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and its implications for loading and unloading safety at Maccini Baji Port, Maros, South Sulawesi. The issues addressed include the low awareness and compliance of workers in using PPE and the lack of adequate safety supervision. The research population consists of 155 employees and dockworkers at the port, with a saturated sampling technique used. The research method employed is quantitative, with data collected through questionnaires and observations. Data analysis was conducted using the SMART PLS method. The results show that training and safety supervision have a positive and significant effect on the use of PPE, which also has a positive implication for loading and unloading safety. Training proved to be effective through the instructor dimension, while safety supervision was greatly influenced by the accuracy of measurement. In conclusion, improving the quality of training and supervision can enhance compliance with PPE usage and work safety at the port. Managerial recommendations include increasing the frequency of training, maintaining equipment, and regularly supervising PPE usage by introducing more accurate and modern monitoring technologies.

Land disputes on legal certainty in South Sulawesi South Sulawesi in 2023

Objective To begin with, the plaintiff is questioned about the contents of his claim. The judge can make a decision with the help of local examination. When it comes to the construction of evidence in civil cases, the duties and responsibilities of local examination of the object of land dispute is an issue that arises. shows that local examination based on Article 153 HIR, Article 180 R. Bg or Article 211 Rv as well as SEMA No. 7 of 2001 does not reflect legal certainty because it does not regulate the mechanism of local examination in the field thoroughly, which leads to many interpretations. In addition, it is still ambiguous whether local examination is a means of evidence whose value is left to the judge or whether local examination is only an examination tool or method of obtaining evidence. Research Results and Discussion Local inspection results are a valid source of evidence in civil cases, local examinations have the following legal consequences: (1) court costs if the judge requests a local examination; and (2) the evidentiary power of the local examination.
