ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS’ DIFFICULTIES IN SOLVING STORY PROBLEMS ON LINEAR PROGRAMMING MATERIAL AT SMAN 3 SIDRAP

This study aims to describe students' difficulties in solving story problems on linear programming material, the factors that cause students' difficulties in solving story problems, and how to overcome students' difficulties in solving story problems on linear programming material at SMAN 3 SIDRAP. This type of research is descriptive qualitative, with the research subject being class XI IPS 2 SMAN 3 SIDRAP, totalling ten students. Based on the results of the research, the difficulties experienced by students in solving story problems on linear programming material are conceptual difficulties, principle difficulties, information difficulties and arithmetic difficulties. Factors causing difficulties are divided into external factors, including the family and school environment and internal factors, including the lack of student interest in learning mathematics, especially in linear programming material, study routines, and lack of motivation to learn. Efforts were made to overcome these difficulties, namely providing a good understanding to students, making students active in asking questions and using learning media.

The Effect of Learning Mathematics with Problem Solving Methods on the Ability to Solve Story Problems in Class IX Students of SMP Negeri 6 Batauga

The formulation of the research problem is whether there is an effect of learning mathematics with problem solving methods on the ability to solve story problems in class IX students of SMP Negeri 6 Batauga?. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of learning mathematics with problem solving methods on the ability to solve story problems in class IX students of SMP Negeri 6 Batauga. This research is a quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design method. The population in this study were students of class IX SMP Negeri 6 Batauga which consisted of 2 study groups with details of class IX A as many as 23 students and class IX B as many as 22 students and the samples in this study were taken from the entire population. This research data collection by using tests. The research data were analyzed using the average difference test. However, previously, descriptive analysis and inferential analysis were carried out. The results of this study showed that based on the results of descriptive analysis the average value of the increase in test results of experimental class students was 23.7391, the average increase in test results of control class students was 16.4762, and based on the results of inferential analysis by looking at the normality test, a significant value was obtained. the test results of the experimental class students were 0.200 and the control class was 0.133, while the homogeneity test showed a significant value in both classes 0.073 > 0.05. So it can be said that the two classes are normally distributed and homogeneous. By using the t-test, it is known that the significant value is 0.001 <0.05, which means that H0 is rejected. So it was concluded that there was an effect of learning mathematics with problem solving methods on the ability to solve math story problems in class IX students of SMP Negeri 6 Batauga.

Kompetensi Strategis Siswa Tipe Melankolis dalam Menyelesaikan Masalah Matematika pada Kesebangunan

This study aims to describe the strategic competence of students in solving story problems in Congruence. This research uses descriptive qualitative research method with 15 students in class IX-A as the subject. The subject selection test used is a personality test of students who have a melancholic type which is adapted directly from the instrument that has been compiled by Florence Littauer. From the sampling of melancholic type students, strategic competencies will be analyzed in solving math problems on the similarity material. The results of personality tests for students in grades IX-A are 2 students who are melancholic type, 4 students are choleric type, 4 students are phlegmatic type, 5 students are sanguinis type. Two students, namely 2 males with a melancholic personality type, were selected as research subjects for a strategic competency test and continued with interviews based on strategic competency indicators. The results of data analysis showed that 2 students met the indicators of strategic competence in solving mathematical problems in the Comparison material. Melancholy type students fulfill strategic competence indicators, namely understanding the situation and conditions of a problem, finding key words and ignoring irrelevant things from a problem, presenting problems mathematically in various forms, choosing the appropriate presentation. to help solve problems, choose an effective solution method in solving a problem and find a solution to the given problem. These findings indicate the need for further research on learning styles.

Implementasi Model Pembelajaran Tutor Sebaya dalam Kelompok Kecil untuk Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Siswa dalam Menyelesaikan Soal Cerita di SD Negeri 37 Ampenan Kota Mataram

The purpose of this study was to describe the implementation of peer tutoring learning models in small groups to improve student learning outcomes in solving story problems. This research method uses classroom action research which is carried out in three cycles. Each cycle has four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The subjects of the research were the sixth graders of SD Negeri 37 Ampenan which consisted of l9 students. The instruments used are observation and tests, while the data analysis technique uses descriptive analysis. The result of this research is through peer tutor learning model in small groups, students' skills in solving story problems show good progress which has an impact on increasing student learning outcomes. Based on this study, the learning outcomes obtained by students on the subject of reading pictures or scaled plans increased the average value to around 8.11.

Kemampuan Penalaran Matematis Siswa Kelas VII MTs. Al-Madani dalam Menyelesaikan Soal Cerita Materi Aritmetika Sosial Tahun Pelajaran 2020/2021

This study aimed to describe mathematical reasoning in solving story problems of social arithmetic material based on the level of ability of grade VII students of MTs. Al-Madani academic year 2020/2021. This study was conducted at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Al-Madani Pelulan, Kuripan sub-district, West Lombok district. The selection of subjects using purposive sampling technique was selected 6 students from grade VII of MTs. Al-Madani, consists of high-ability students, medium-ability students, and low-ability students, 2 students each. Data collection was carried out by using the test method, documentation and interviews, the data analysis technique used was the qualitative data analysis technique proposed by Miles and Huberman, namely: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Based on the data analysis of the results written tests and interviews with research subjects, the average score of students' mathematical reasoning for high-ability subjects was 31.5, and the average score for medium-ability subjects was 20.5. The average score of mathematical reasoning for low-ability subjects was 10.5. High-ability subjects met the indicators of understanding the problem of performing mathematical manipulation, finding patterns to make generalizations. and draw conclusions. Medium-ability students met the indicators of understanding the problem. perform mathematical manipulations, and check the validity of an argument.. Low-ability subjects only met the indicators of understanding the problem.

Symbolizing algebraic story problems: Are diagrams helpful?

SummaryMany people find that solving story problems is challenging. A key source of the difficulty is symbolizing problem situations. In two experiments, we tested whether diagrams promoted successful symbolization of two‐operator story problems, and we tested whether diagrams that depicted the integration of operations were more beneficial than diagrams that depicted the two operations separately. Findings in the two experiments were similar but not identical. Overall, participants were more likely to generate conceptually correct equations—though not always in integrated form—in the presence of diagrams, and this pattern was driven by the beneficial effects of diagrams for participants with lower visuospatial abilities. Further, participants with more negative attitudes towards mathematics were more likely to generate integrated equations with diagrams that depicted the integration of operations. Thus, the effects of diagrams varied across subgroups of participants.

Profil Kemampuan Multi Representasi dalam Menyelesaikan Soal Cerita pada Siswa dengan Gaya Belajar Auditori

The importance of multiple mathematical representations for students in learning is that one of them can help students learn and build a concept to overcome a problem in solving story problems. The purpose of this study was to determine the profile of multi-representation abilities in solving story problems for students with auditory learning styles. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects in this study were four students with auditory learning styles from class XI IPA 1 SMA Negeri 1 Bangsri. Data collection methods used are learning style questionnaire tests, mathematical representation tests, and interviews. The results of this study indicate that students with auditory learning styles based on mathematical representation abilities are able to solve all the questions given. In solving story problems, the subject always writes down what is known and asked first, then answers the problem. Subjects use visual representations in the form of illustrations and tables to make it easier to answer. Next, the subject writes down what is known and asked using verbal and symbolic representations according to what is written on the problem. Auditory subjects solve these problems by involving symbolic representations (mathematical expressions) by substituting them into mathematical formulas. To explain the important part of the problem and write a conclusion at the end of the subject's answer, use a verbal representation in the form of words, sentences, or written text.

ANALISIS KESULITAN SISWA DALAM MENYELESAIKAN SOAL CERITA MATEMATIKA DITINJAU DARI GAYA BELAJAR DAN GENDER

This study concerned with the low learning outcomes of grade V SDN 3 Kedungurang students in Mathematics; one of them in learning math story. The problems that arose were how students difficulties in solving math story based on learning styles and gender, how male students difficulties in solving math story according to learning styles, how female students difficulties in solving math story based on learning styles. The purpose of this study was to determine the difficulties of students in solving a matter of story based on learning styles and gender, which covered male students in learning styles and female students in learning styles. The analytical procedure used was the Newman procedure. The type of this research was qualitative research. The data collection was carried out by using questionnaires, tests, and interviews with 11 students as research subjects. The data validity test was used triangulation techniques. The results showed that first, the most dominant learning style, namely the visual learning style of 8 students, while the auditory and kinesthetic learning styles were 7 students, the three learning styles had errors according to the Newman procedure. Second, male and female students made a mistake according to the Newman procedure, namely understanding problem, transforming, calculating processes and drawing conclusions. Third, male students with visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles made a mistake in understanding problems, transformations, calculation, processes and drawing conclusions. Fourth, female students made a mistake in understanding problems, transformation, calculation processes, and drawing conclusions. The solution offered to minimize students’ difficulties in solving story problems was by increasing the practice of working on story questions.

THE ABILITY OF STUDENTS’ CONCEPTUAL UNDERSTANDING IN COMPLETING STORY PROBLEMS ON MATHEMATICS

This study aims to describe the ability of students to understand concepts in solving story problems. The research subjects were 28 grade VII students of SMP Negeri 8 Merauke. Data collection techniques were carried out in tests of students' abilities in understanding concepts and unstructured interviews. The test used to measure the concepts is in the form of description questions and 4 questions with integer operation material on the story problem. From the data analysis, it was concluded that the students' ability at high ability could master the 6 indicators of concept understanding, students in the moderate category mastered 5 indicators of concept understanding, students in the low category mastered 4 indicators of conceptual understanding. It can be concluded that the students' concept understanding ability is in the medium category.

Analisis Kesulitan Belajar Matematika di Rumah Selama Pandemi Covid-19 pada Siswa Kelas IV Sekolah Dasar

<p><em>This study aims to describe the purpose of this study is to identify problems in learning mathematics at home during the Covid-19 pandemic that occurred in fourth grade students at SDN Jejeruk in the 2019/2020 school year. The focus of the research in writing this thesis is the method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with a phenomenological approach. The data sources of this study were all fourth grade students, parents, and fourth grade students teachers. Data collection techniques were carried out using questionnaires, interviews, and documentation studies. The validity test of the data used in this research is technical triangulation and source triangulation. Data analysis using Miles and Huberman data analysis model. The results of this study indicate that student learning problems occur because students have difficulty understanding concepts, difficulty solving problems in story problems, and difficulties in numeracy skills. Problem identification is carried out on Fractions material. Difficulty understanding concepts as much as 78%, difficulty in solving story problems as much as 90%, and difficulty in calculating number operations as much as 85%. The problems that occur are caused by several factors. </em></p>

ANALISIS JAWABAN SISWA MENURUT TIPE KEPRIBADIAN DALAM MENYELESAIKAN SOAL CERITA MATERI BANGUN RUANG

This studyaims to describe the answer errors of students with extrovert-introvert personalities when solving story problems with material blocks and cubes based on the newman procedure. This type of research is a qualitative descriptif study. The subject in this study involved 29 junior high school students. The object of this research is the extrovert-introvert personality student’s answer errors in solving block and cube story problems based on the newman procedure. Data collection techniques used were distributing personality questionnaires and test questions on blocks and cubes, as well as direct communication (interview).The results of the personality questionnaire taken were 3 students with high extrovert personalitiesand 3 students with high introvert personalities Analysis framework to reveal errors using newman procedure While the analysis technique uses qualitative data analysis of miles and huberman. The results of the errors made by students in this study were reading errors (R), misunderdtsnding problems (C),transgormation errors (P), and final answer errors (E).This mistakes made by extrovert-introverted students were mostly transformation errors (T), processing skills errors (P), and final answer errors(E). Analysis of student error in solving story problems in linear program materials

The purpose of this research was to determine the percentage of student errors in solving story problems on the linear program material. The errors noted were misunderstandings of questions, errors in mathematical modeling, errors in calculating / solving, and errors in drawing conclusions. The research was conducted on class XI MIPA students of SMA Negeri 1 Langowan. The results showed that all students made mistakes solving story problems with the material of the linear program. There were 38 errors (23.89%) at the question understanding stage. There were 5 errors (3.14%) at the mathematical modeling stage. There are 90 errors (56.60%) at the computation / completion stage. There were 24 errors (15.09%) at the conclusion stage. There were 2 other errors (1.25%) made by students.

ANALISIS STRATEGI METAKOGNITIF SISWA DALAM MEMAHAMI DAN MENYELESAIKAN SISTEM PERSAMAAN LINEAR DUA VARIABEL DITINJAU DARI PERBEDAAN GENDER

The purpose of this study was to analyze students' metacognitive strategies in understanding and solving math problems in terms of gender differences. This type of research is based on a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Purposive sample technique is a technique of determining the subject based on certain criteria to make it easier to obtain the desired information. Data collection techniques in this study consisted of interviews, tests, documentation and observations. The data analysis technique in this study consists of reducing data, presenting data and making conclusions. For data validity, this study used triangulation. Triangulation is done by triangulation method. Method triangulation in this research uses two methods, namely interviews and documentation. Based on the results of data analysis, it shows that four aspects of metacognitive strategies, namely the awareness aspect, cognitive aspects, planning aspects and re-checking in understanding and solving mathematical problems in the material of the two-variable linear equation system show that the metacognitive strategies of female and male students in class X SMA 8 Kupang can be said to be good in accordance with the minimum completeness criteria set at school. Even though in the awareness and evaluation aspects, it was still seen that male and female students did not use metacognitive strategies, because understanding the concept in solving story problems was still not understood about the differences in collecting known data and being asked by mathematical modeling. Overall, male and female students were able to understand and solve problems using metacognitive strategies.

Analisis Kesalahan Siswa Dalam Menyelesaikan Soal Cerita Pada Materi Sistem Persamaan Linear Tiga Variabel

The purpose of this study was to describe students' mistakes in solving story problems on the material of the three-variable linear equation system (SPLTV) based on the Newman procedure to minimize the occurrence of the same errors in the future. The approach used is a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The subjects in this study were 25 students of class X SMAN 14 Bekasi. The test instruments used was 2 items in the description. In this study using errors according to Newman to analyze student errors. From the results of the analysis, it was found that the average error rate of students in answering SPLTV story questions was 34.4% and the remaining 65.6% of students could answer correctly and correctly. Of the two questions given, question number 1 had more percentage of students who made mistakes. There are various kinds of mistakes made by students, based on the error analysis according to Newman, there was a reading error of 0% because none of the students read the questions wrongly, the error in understanding was 30.23% because the students did not write known and asked, the transformation error was equal to 20.93% because the students were not able to transform the questions given into a mathematical form so they could not make mathematical models, 24.42% error in processing skills was due to the lack of students' accuracy in calculating which resulted in errors, and errors in writing the final answer of 24, 42% because the students were incomplete in making conclusions.

The Influence of Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition Model on Completing Abilities of Story Questions

This study is motivated by the low ability of students in solving story problems at MTsN 4 Aceh Utara. Based on initial observations, students have not been able to understand the story questions, namely determining what is known and asked, students have not been able to determine the formula or method used, and students have not been able to determine the final answer to the story questions, therefore this study aims to determine the effect of Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition learning model on the ability to solve story problems in class VIII MTsN 4 Aceh Utara. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental research design and a posttest-only design with nonequivalent groups. The population of this study was all students of class VIII MTsN 4 North Aceh. The sample in this study was class VIII C as the control class and class VIII D as the experimental class which was obtained by purposive sampling technique. The data collection technique used in this study is a test in the form of a posttest. Data analysis was carried out to test the ability to solve story problems using the t-test because the data were normally distributed and homogeneous, the data was processed using SPSS 18 software. The normality test used the Shapiro Wilk technique, the homogeneity test used the Levene test, and the hypothesis test according to the test criteria was if significant <0.05, then H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, whereas if the significant value is 0.05, then H0 is accepted and Ha is rejected. From the statistical significant results, Equal Variances assumed is 0.00 less than 0.05. Thus, the conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition learning model on the ability to complete stories in class VIII MTsN 4 Aceh Utara.

Analysis of Student Errors In Solving Story Problems Based on Newman's Stage In Class VII

This study aims to describe the mistakes of students based on the Newman stage in solving the story problems of the One Variable Linear Equation material. This type of research is qualitative descriptive with a descriptive approach. The subjects of this study were 34 students of class VII-F SMP Negeri 17 Malang, consisting of 20 boys and 14 girls for the 2019/2020 school year. Research subjects 30 subjects from class VII-F students were present for analysis. Retrieval of data using written tests to obtain data about students 'mistakes in solving story questions based on Newman stages and interviews to complete the results and strengthen data about students' mistakes. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Checking the validity of the data used the source triangulation technique in the form of interviews with 3 students of class VII-F who were selected based on high, medium, and low abilities. Based on the results of the study, it appears that the mistakes made by students based on the Newman procedure, at the reading stage there were no research subjects who made mistakes. At the understanding stage there were 23 subjects who made mistakes, the transformation stage there were 30 subjects who made mistakes, the process skills stage there were 17 subjects who made mistakes and the final answer writing stage there were 29 subjects who made mistakes. The results showed that all students made four types of errors. The causative factor is that there are certain sentences in the questions that cannot be interpreted correctly, forgetting the formulas that must be used, rushing when writing formulas, not mastering the material of One Variable Linear Equations, not being thorough and in a hurry to do the problems.

Analysis of Critical Thinking Ability of Class X IPA High School Students in Solving Story Questions in terms of Gender and Mathematical Ability

The purpose of this study was to describe the critical thinking skills of class X high school students in solving story problems in terms of gender and math abilities. This research was conducted in the even semester of 2020/2021. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive research type. The subjects in this study consisted of 3 male students and 3 female students with different mathematical abilities selected based on test results and consultation with subject teachers. The used Instruments in this study were critical thinking skills tests and interviews. The results of this research are (1) male students and high mathematical abilities meet aspects of interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, aspects and self regulation well. Meanwhile, female students with high mathematical abilities are able to complete aspects of interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and inference well; (2) Male students and their mathematical abilities are meeting the aspects of interpretation, analysis, and inference well. Meanwhile, female students and moderate math abilities were able to complete interpretation, analysis, inference, and explanation well; and (3) male students with low math ability are able to solve aspects of interpretation well. Meanwhile, female students with low math abilities were able to complete aspects of interpretation and analysis well. For further researchers, it is necessary to research at a higher level with more research subjects or on other variables.

Adaptive Reasoning Based on Microsoft Mathematics

The demands of professional teachers to design technology-assisted learning that can facilitate all students to develop their potential. the fact that the quality of students' adaptive reasoning in solving math problems is still low which has an impact on other mathematical competencies. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in the improvement of adaptive reasoning abilities between students who have implemented Search Solving Create and Share learning assisted with Microsoft Mathematics and conventional learning. The method used is quasi-experimental with the non-equivalent pre-test and post-test control group design. Through the Simple Random Sampling technique, two classes were selected, namely class X1 and X2 one of the SMA in Bandung Indonesia. Test instrument: story questions about adaptive reasoning abilities. Analysis using independent T-test data. Result: There is a difference in the improvement in adaptive reasoning abilities between students who using search-solve-create- share learning assisted by Microsoft mathematics compared to conventional learning. Students' difficulties in solving story problems with adaptive reasoning abilities can be minimized by getting used to solving non-routine story problems. Learning search-solve-create-share assisted by Microsoft mathematics accustoms students to convey assumptions, provide reasons for answers, draw conclusions from statements, and students can find patterns of various mathematical problems through multi-interactive media.

Ability of students in completing mathematical story problems

Background: Elementary school must be a strong foundation to reach a higher level of education. This is inseparable from the beginning of the level of education starting from early childhood and kindergarten because it is a level of education to start the formation of children's character. One of the subjects given at every level of education is Mathematics. Mathematics is one of the sciences that has an important role in shaping the mindset of students, because in mathematics students are required to have the ability to think logically, systematically, analytically as well as problem solving abilities. Various attempts have been made by the teacher in increasing the ability of students to understand mathematics subjects. However, the expected results are still not optimal, even the learning and teaching process becomes unpleasant and tends to be boring for students. One of the math problems that is often found is the difficulty of students in solving story problems. Even though the story problem is a form of evaluation of the ability of students in understanding the basic concepts of mathematics that have been learned, in the form of questions about applying formulas. Purpose: This study aims to examine the extent to which students' ability to work on math story problems. It could help teachers to find out the problems of students in working on math story problems and make students able to solve problems in the form of stories with the right method. Design and methods: The research method used is qualitative methods. Qualitative research is research in accordance with the data, utilizing existing theories as explanatory material. Analisis Kesalahan Siswa Kelas IV SDN Serang 8 dalam Menyelesaikan Soal Cerita pada Materi Pengukuran

This research described the students' errors in solving story qustions in grade IV SDN Serang 8. Most students find it difficult to interpret the purpose of the calculation questions in the form of stories and often get less scores because of the errors students make when students answer calculation questions in story form. This study aimed to find out what are the causes and errors made by students, then find out how the solutions can be given and carried out by students or teachers. This research used a qualitative approach with the descriptive type of research. By using content analysis methods, namely research by examining the text of documents or books to draw conclusions based on the context of their use. The data collection procedure was carried out by giving several research instruments in the form of 4 mathematical story questions about measurement and conducting interviews to produce oral data from participants. The findings of this study indicate that there are several facts that cause this occurrence of students’ errors. They are students did not understand the concept, students made calculation errors, some students did not answer correctly, and students did not answer in a complete way until the final answer. Researcher produced data on the level of ability of grade IV SDN 8 students. There are 3 students who have high ability level, 10 students have medium ability level, and 7 students have low ability level. This research was expected to help to provide solutions so that students are able to solve story problems correctly and according to the procedure for solving them.
