Modeling, Simulation, and Computer Control of a High-Frequency Wood Drying System

High-frequency wood drying is the modern method used in raw wood drying so that treated wood can be used further in various processes. Such systems are used because of the economy, energy efficiency, obtaining of good mechanical properties of the wood after treatment, as well as reducing time consumption. Therefore, it is extremely important to understand each component of such systems and processes. The mentioned systems are implemented using high-frequency generators based on vacuum tubes (VT). Their development and, in particular, optimization are by far more complex than the transistor systems; therefore, the development is now compelled to rely on computer modelling and simulation. In this research, a high-frequency (HF) generator of 20 kW output power and 1.5–15 MHz adjustable frequency based on VT was produced and then, with the corresponding model for VT itself and the rest of the developed circuit, was followed by computer simulation and real-system measurement. The model parameters were adjusted, which provided additional system optimization. An extra match of the results from the simulation and measurement was obtained; thus, the optimization was performed faster and more precisely. In addition, an easier and quicker way of adjusting parameters of the PID controller using a developed software-based control system was attained. The problems of cooling the VT anode under high DC voltage, as well as temperature measurement in the HF electric field, have been solved.

Controlling Speed of DC Motor with Fuzzy Controller in Comparison with ANFIS Controller

Machines have served the humanity starting from a simple ceiling fan to higher industrial applications such as lathe drives and conveyor belts. This research work aims at providing an appropriate software based control system because it provides computer featured applications, prevents rapid signal loss, reduces noise while also significantly improves the steady state and dynamic response of the motor. In this research paper, we have worked on DC motors due to its significant advantages over other types of machine drives. We have first individually studied Fuzzy and ANFIS (Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Interference System) controller in controlling speed for a separately excited DC motor. Afterwards, we have analyzed both results to conclude that which technique is better to be adopted for precisely controlling the speed of DC motor. Outcomes from MATLAB fuzzy logic toolbox for simulation of our schematic has been provided in this research work. Our study parameters include input voltage of DC motor, its speed, percentage overshoot and rising time of the output signal. Our proposed research has interpreted the outcomes that ANFIS controller is better than Fuzzy controller because it produces less percentage overshoot and causes less distortion of the output signal as the overshoot percentage of ANFIS controller is 8.2% while that of Fuzzy controller is 14.4%.

Development and Performance of a Controllable Autoloading Needle-Free Jet Injector

A jet injector platform technology that provides improved performance over existing jet injectors through the use of a controllable linear Lorentz-force actuator and software-based control system has been developed. Injectors designed on this platform are capable of delivering injections using arbitrary pressure pulse shaping. Pulse shaping has been shown to allow a wide degree of control over the depth to which the injection is delivered. A software-based injector control system improves repeatability and allows for automatic reloading of the injector, a task that would be difficult to implement using existing jet injector platforms. A design for a prototype autoloading controllable jet injector (cJI) based on this platform is detailed. The injection capability of this cJI was evaluated both in-vitro and in-vivo using a tissue analog, excised porcine tissue, and ovine tissue. An analysis of the cJI’s performance indicates that this design is capable of delivering a controllable volume of fluid to a controllable depth based entirely on the parameter’s input into the control software.
