PSYCHOTHERAPY OF OLDER ADOLESCENTS USING A RESIDENTIAL FACILITY.

An experimental method using case material is described for treating deeply disturbed older adolescents in a social work setting employing residential facilities. The treatment takes advantage of the relative fluidity in the psychic structure during adolescence. The two major phases of treatment are described and the necessity is shown for shifting the focus from social to psychological—from active intervention to therapeutic neutrality.
