Study on the Coupled Dynamic Evolution of Social Entrepreneurship and Rural Labor Return in the Context of Rural Revitalization

Based on the panel data of social entrepreneurship and rural labor force return in 31 provinces and municipalities in China from 2016-2021, this paper constructs the evaluation system of entrepreneurial activity from the perspective of rural revitalization, and empirically analyzes it by using entropy weighting method, coupled coordination degree model, and relative development degree model to explore the development level of the two elements. The results show that: at the time level, the return of rural labor force and social entrepreneurship activity in 31 provinces in China from 2016 to 2021 tend to develop in a generally coordinated manner, and the level of coordinated development of the two factors fluctuates and rises; the degree of coupling and coordination of the two factors in general shows a "W"-type cyclical fluctuation characteristic.

Social entrepreneurs play a crucial role in addressing entrenching societal problems that are difficult to solve at the individual level. To cultivate future social entrepreneurs, institutions increasingly provide experiential education programs where participants engage directly in social entrepreneurial activities. This study aims to identify psychological factors influencing the development of social entrepreneurial intentions among participants in such programs. Highlighting the challenging nature of a social entrepreneurial career, we propose that participants' learning goal orientation, meaning at work, and bottom-line mentality climate perception shape their intentions to become social entrepreneurs. We collected and analyzed two-wave survey data from 149 university students participating in an intensive experiential social entrepreneurship education program in South Korea. Results indicate that learning goal orientation positively affects meaning at work, which in turn, enhances social entrepreneurial intentions. Furthermore, bottom-line mentality climate perceptions moderate the positive relationship between learning goal orientation and meaning at work, as well as the positive effect of learning goal orientation on social entrepreneurial intentions via meaningful work. This study has several significant implications. First, it proposes and demonstrates that individual participants' learning goal orientation and meaning at work serve as predictors of the development of social entrepreneurial intentions during an experiential entrepreneurial education program. In doing so, it sheds light on the critical role of psychological variables in influencing the outcomes of entrepreneurial education. Second, the study reveals the negative effects of bottom-line mentality climate perception on shaping social entrepreneurial intentions, suggesting the necessity for educational frameworks that incorporate environmental contexts. Finally, this research offers evidence-based insights that educational institutions, policy-makers, and business leaders can utilize in devising strategies and systems to nurture the next generation of social entrepreneurs.

Regional ecosystems of socially oriented entrepreneurship in Southern Kazakhstan

Goal – scientific work is based on defining conceptual approaches to the formation of regional ecosystem model of socially oriented entrepreneurship and identifying opportunities for its implementation for sustainable growth of socio-economic development of regions. Methods – bibliographic analysis of scientific articles in this area. The modeling method contributed to justifying the need to form a regional “business ecosystem”. The statistical method allowed to draw conclusions about the state and prospects for expanding social entrepreneurial activity in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Results – a review of literature sources made it possible to identify a direction aimed at solving social problems as the basic form of manifestation of socialization and inclusiveness of modern economy, ensuring its sustainable development by achieving not only the social efficiency of entrepreneurial initiative, but also economic profitability; the importance of various types of social projects is shown, which is based on fundamental principle of entrepreneurial practice, the essence of which is to ensure its self-sufficiency: non-profit organizations (NPO), including socially oriented ones. Conclusions – for effective and efficient use of potential of social startups in the context of sustainable development of society, it is necessary to study their phenomenon and develop ecosystem of corporate social responsibility not only at microeconomic level in individual and collective forms of the enterprise, but also in the macroeconomic format of the institution of regional ecosystem of socially oriented entrepreneurship, which is being formed as a network of interrelations between subjects of commercial, non-profit and public sectors, establishing the interaction of supply and demand for social value created. The main elements of ecosystem should be the state, social capital, market for social services and infrastructural support.

Catalysts for Change: Examining Prosocial Motivation's Role in Fostering Social Entrepreneurial Intentions Among Women in Matrilineal Cultures

Social entrepreneurship is important to attaining the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) worldwide. Currently, women have been heavily involved in social entrepreneurship activities. However, until now, a study involving women of Minang ethnicity (matrilinear lineage) on the student's interest in social entrepreneurship still needs to be completed. The objective of this paper is to look into the impact of prosocial and intrinsic motivation antecedents on women’s social entrepreneurial intention. The inquiry model was tested in this study using a quantitative technique. This study involved 250 Minang students (female)who met the criteria that they had taken lectures for at least two semesters in Padang City. The moderating variables were investigated using the Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) approach effect of intrinsic motivation (STATA). An interesting finding from this study is that prosocial motivation shows a positive and significant effect on social entrepreneurial intention. The urge to engage in social action triggers them to become social entrepreneurs. Although the results of the moderating effect are not proven, the implications of this investigation are very helpful for the government and higher education to develop a social entrepreneurship ecosystem and social entrepreneurship education. The originality of this paper lies in the fact that previous studies haven’t focused on the role of culture in shaping the social entrepreneurial intention of Minang students.

Social entrepreneurship: empirical evidence on its contribution to the realization of the sustainable development goals in Uganda

PurposeThis study explores the contribution of social entrepreneurship to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Uganda.Design/methodology/approachWe employed a qualitative approach and a multiple-case design to engage 20 participants. Specifically, semi-structured interviews were conducted to gather the perceptions and views of the participants regarding the study phenomenon.FindingsStudy findings indicate that social entrepreneurs support a number of people and undertake activities that solve social, environmental and economic problems. However, environmental issues receive less focus when compared to other sustainability aspects. It is also evident that social entrepreneurs are financially constrained with limited managerial skills, undermining their potential to fulfill their social mission. Despite these challenges, social entrepreneurs have significantly contributed to the attainment of SDGs 1, 4, 5, 8 and 10 in Uganda.Originality/valueThis study contributes to the existing literature on social entrepreneurship and sustainable development. Specifically, it provides initial empirical evidence on the social entrepreneurial activities, the beneficiaries and challenges being addressed by social entrepreneurs and contribution to the attainment of the SDGs in Uganda.

Novel company law forms for social change: The development of tailor-made legislation for social enterprises in the Netherlands

The impact case enhances the understanding of socio-legal research that contemplates the development of novel legal company forms which serve the well-being of humans and nature equally. Introducing novel company law forms for social change regards research in the field of social entrepreneurship and law, such as the development of tailor-made legislation for social enterprises in the Netherlands. Current legal forms for companies in the Netherlands do not support types of social entrepreneurial activity. Our research influenced directly the regulatory-making process of the novel forthcoming company law entity named the Besloten Vennootschap maatschappelijk (BVm), i.e., the private limited company with societal purpose which is about to be introduced in the Dutch company legislation. Particularly, our research team: (i) formulated key indicators for the BVm, which were accepted by the government in 2020 and will form the basis for new legislation which is currently being drafted; (ii) generated multiple academic studies, publications, seminars and conferences, as well as a PhD dissertation about the topic; (iii) supported many social enterprises in finding suitable legal forms (through educational programs, network sessions and collaboration with company and tax law experts).

Social Entrepreneurship: Towards Solving Environmental Problem and Creating Wealth Among Primary School Pupils an Ogun State

The issue of waste management has continued to attract global attention and several efforts have been made to find solutions to the problem of improper waste disposal mostly in the urban areas in the developing countries of the world. This study exploits the benefits of using social entrepreneurship in waste management and creation of wealth using primary school pupils in the central senatorial district of Ogun State. A descriptive survey research design was used for the study and 500 primary school pupils using volunteer sampling techniques. A self-constructed questionnaire titled “Students Perception on Social Entrepreneurship and Waste Management Questionnaire” (SPSEWMQ) (r =.82) was used as main instrument for the study. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics. The findings showed that social entrepreneurship helps pupils to gain skills of proper handling of waste, waste collection and disposal among others, also pupils benefited from the social entrepreneurship activities they embarked on in the area of helping them to develop skills of willingness to get things done, determination to achieve success, employment generation and wealth creation and social entrepreneurship activities did lead to gaining waste sorting skills by the pupils. It was recommended that social entrepreneurship skills should be developed in the pupils so as to participate as productive members of the society and that pupils should be encouraged to manage waste and turn it to wealth.

Social entrepreneurship is currently receiving attention in a number of countries, including Indonesia. The existence of social entrepreneurship can make a real contribution to improving the community's economy. This research was conducted in Deli Serdang district, North Sumatra with informants who were social entrepreneurs. From the initial map, information was obtained that in the absence of a brand, the need for support from an institution and differences in the behavior of social entrepreneurship actors in viewing institutional support. This research uses qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The research results show a number of categories, memo fund themes which then produce patterns in supporting the desire for social entrepreneurial activities.

Achieving Sustainable Development Goals through Social Entrepreneurship:A Study of India & South Africa

Introduction: Social concerns without businesses and businesses without social consideration are anti-developmental. However, balancing both simultaneously is arduous and challenging. Nevertheless, social entrepreneurship has proven that it could be balanced simultaneously.
 
 Objective: The study aims to comprehend how the multipronged SDGs could be achieved through social entrepreneurial activities in India & South Africa. Albeit, both nations have distinct features in terms of geographically, demographically, religiously, and culturally.
 Methods: The study randomly selected the samples from both countries & used the case study approach of qualitative research.
 
 Results: The study shows that the selected cases from both nations focus mainly on waste management, social inclusion and women empowerment. Most of the case studies were working for waste management in both countries, where they aimed to reduce plastic pollution, i.e., both the nation's critical problems at the current time. However, due to contextual embeddedness, these social enterprises adopt different techniques to achieve these multipronged SDGs in both countries. Besides, they also generate employment opportunities for the people and help to reduce poverty in both countries. Few other case studies have impinged on women's empowerment and social inclusion, particularly disabled people.
 
 Conclusion: The study concludes by saying that additional work needs to be done to develop the concept further and that the government should offer incentives for adopting this concept since, with the aid of social entrepreneurs, the government may accelerate its progress towards the accomplishment of sustainable development goals.

Exploring Social Entrepreneurial Activities at a Community Sport Event in the Context of the Covid-19 Pandemic

Community sport events are uniquely positioned to engage in social entrepreneurial activities. This engagement can help navigate challenges facing the event sector. Therefore, this study explored the social entrepreneurial activities in which community sport event managers engaged amid COVID19. Qualitative data were collected via semistructured interviews with five event managers and 10 nonprofit managers involved in the Illinois Marathon in the US. Findings showed that event managers engaged in social entrepreneurial activities through 1) leveraging a corporate partner to facilitate long-term relationships with local nonprofits, 2) delivering an impactful alternate event, and 3) hosting postevent banquets. These activities addressed social problems through 1) listening to and responding to immediate community needs, 2) raising awareness about social issues, and 3) shining a positive light on the community. Findings contribute to the literature on events and social entrepreneurship and provide implications for how event managers partake in effective social entrepreneurial activities.

Using McClelland’s Theory of Need to Determine the Relationship between the Motivational Factor and Social Entrepreneurship Activity among People with Disabilities

Social entrepreneurship (SE) refers to an activity where a social element is used to create business opportunities. It describes the efforts of certain non-profit organizations or government agencies to improve the social and economic conditions of impoverished communities. This paper proposes a conceptual model to examine the relationship between motivational factors and the engagement of people with disabilities (PWD) in SE activities. Using McClelland's need theory for measuring motivation, examines achievement, affiliation, and power needs. When these needs go unfulfilled, motivation declines, leading to decreased performance and turnover within the organization. This theory holds significant influence in entrepreneurship and has been widely adopted in various research studies. Conducting a quantitative survey among actively engaged PWDs in SE activities under the Social Welfare Department institution will help identify the motivational factors driving PWDs to prioritize social entrepreneurship over other employment options. Recognizing this connection enables government agencies and stakeholders to potentially reshape and create better-suited programs for PWD and guide them toward a renewed path of empowerment.

Social entrepreneurship in the selected neo-Pentecostal churches: A holistic salvation

Pentecostalism is a Christian tradition known for personal salvation, baptism in the Holy Spirit, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, divine healing and personal encounter with God through the work of the Holy Spirit. However, Pentecostalism is not limited to these; the tradition also ministers the full gospel that affects a holistic person, meaning body, soul and spirit. This article demonstrated that the holistic salvation approach is a motivation for social entrepreneurial activities in the selected neo-Pentecostal churches in South Africa. The article worked within the social entrepreneurial framework to argue that the neo-Pentecostal churches minister to their followers holistically. Pentecostalism transforms people’s lives in daily living, particularly the poorest of the poor communities through entrepreneurial orientation. The researchers’ methodology was a case study approach of four neo-Pentecostal churches in South Africa that have shown social entrepreneurship factors. In addition, the participant observation method was used in highlighting entrepreneurial activities in these churches.Intradisciplinary and/or interdisciplinary implications: This article examined the role of neo-Pentecostal churches in social entrepreneurship through a holistic salvation approach to Pentecostal theology by using a case study method. This role is a juxtaposition between the study of Pentecostalism from a missiological discipline and the study of social entrepreneurship from the discipline of economics, particularly social economics.

Analisis Based Social Entreprenuership Pada Pondok Pesantren Al Fusha Pekalongan

This study aims to determine the implementation of social entrepreneurship at the Al Fusha Integrated Islamic Boarding School. This study uses a qualitative-descriptive method, with interviews, observations, and literature review as instruments. The results of the study indicate that entrepreneurial activities at the Al Fusha Integrated Islamic Boarding School are a model of social entrepreneurship. The benchmark of social entrepreneurship in Al Fusha can be seen through the process of social entrepreneurship which includes antecedents, entrepreneurial orientation, and outcomes. The antecedents stage begins with formulating a social mission, namely educating students and spreading benefits for the community. The mission is based on social problems which are then used as a business opportunity. Second, entrepreneurial orientation, Al Fusha Islamic boarding school in developing its business creates social innovation and risk taking so that the business can continue to grow to achieve the goals it wants to achieve. The last stage is the outcome, the social value created has an impact on students and also the community. There are supporting and inhibiting factors for social entrepreneurship activities that come from external and internal sources.

Enabling Social Entrepreneurship for the Disabled

Social entrepreneurship has the potential to offer job opportunities for people with disabilities (OKU). However, there is a gap between the effectiveness of existing social entrepreneurship activities and the desire of people with disabilities to become social entrepreneurs. This paper aims to detail the plan of study for exploring the basic principles practiced by social entrepreneurs with disabilities in overcoming challenges and creating opportunities within their social entrepreneurial business. This study targeted disabled entrepreneurs and five key informants to be interviewed through the Quintuple Helix method. The study is expected to become the basis of generalizing the culture of social entrepreneurship among the disabled group.

Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Low-Density Territories: The i3Social Project

The last decade has seen a significant increase in economic and social inequalities, especially in Portugal's inland territories. As a consequence, the increase in social needs is increasingly evident in low-density territories. In this sense, social entrepreneurs have an important role in society, to the extent that, by having more direct contact with their surroundings, they are also more alert to identify needs, which until then have not had the necessary response from public policies. Thus, social entrepreneurship, allied with innovation, can serve as a "tool" to meet social needs, as well as help combat depopulation. Thus, this work shows the social entrepreneurship activities developed within the i3Social project, which aims to clarify the aspects and dynamics of social entrepreneurship to create social businesses. In this sense, this work also seeks to give an overview of what social entrepreneurship involves, i.e., in practical terms, to show that there is a path that should and must be followed for the business idea to become effective and successful in the social intervention market.

Social entrepreneurship in Ukraine: The essence and features of its formation

The article examines the essence and peculiarities of the formation of social entrepreneurship in Ukraine. It was determined that social entrepreneurship is a qualitatively new phenomenon that arose at the junction of the social and economic systems of the country, designed to solve the dilemma of combining activities for the sake of social well-being with activities for profit. It is established that the goals of social enterprises are achieved by organizing activities based on entrepreneurship and creating a sustainable business model. It has been proven that social entrepreneurship is an innovative activity primarily aimed at solving or reducing the social problems of society under the conditions of self-sufficiency and sustainability. The author's definition of the concept of social entrepreneurship as an innovative activity that is primarily designed to solve the social needs of society under the conditions of self-sufficiency and sustainability is proposed. It has been proven that an essential stage in the activity of a social enterprise is obtaining a social effect. Social entrepreneurial activity effectively creates a competitive environment, provides jobs, and relieves tension in the labor market. It has been proven that for the effective development of social entrepreneurship on the part of the state, it is necessary to create favorable legal conditions for the activities of non-profit organizations, to develop and adopt at the national and local levels regulatory legal acts that contribute to the development of all forms of intersectoral interactions. During the study, it was established that social entrepreneurship appears as a significant factor in solving complex regional social problems, as a factor in the development of an innovative regional environment, as an additional incentive for the development of small and medium-sized entrepreneurship, and as an essential reservoir of accumulation of social capital, which contributes to the development of trust in modern society. In today's world, it is imperative to study the problems and prospects of social business, considering it as a particular sphere in the economic sector of the country. Another issue is the high poverty rate, which is followed by issues of gender inequality. The government cannot solve these social issues on its own. There is a need for community support to solve these problems through sustainable social entrepreneurship activities. Theoretical framework: Studying the factors that affect the intention to engage in social entrepreneurial activities is an important aspect of SE theoretical development (Yu et al., 2021). Thus, the study of what factors influence an individual's Social Entrepreneurial Intention (SEI) is still in its early stages, particularly in developing countries such as Indonesia, where the SE level is much lower than in developed countries. This study integrates the Theory of Planned Behavior with Outcome Expectation to determine the factors that influence the interest of the Z and Millennial generation in becoming social entrepreneurs. The outcome expectation variable was added because previous research has indicated that outcome expectations are crucial when making career decisions (Lent et al., 2002) and that people must believe that social entrepreneurship is an appropriate method to address social problems when compared to other options before deciding to build a social enterprise. Design/methodology/approach: This study applied a quantitative approach with a judgmental sampling technique to a sample of Generation Z and Millennials who have ever participated in social activities but have not yet started their own business. The study gathered 210 respondents, who were then analyzed using the PLS-SEM method with multiple group analysis generation-based comparison. Findings: According to the findings, the Millennial Generation's Attitude Toward Behavior, Subjective Norms, Perceived Behavioral Control and Outcome Expectation, all had a positive impact on Social Entrepreneurial Intention. Meanwhile, Subjective Norms had no effect on Social Entrepreneurial Intention in the Z Generation. Only attitude toward behavior, perceived behavioral control, and outcome expectation have a positive effect on the development of social entrepreneurial intentions. Furthermore, the findings of this study confirm that subjective norms influence attitude toward behavior and Perceived Behavioral Control in both Generation Z and millennials (generation Y) sample. Research, Practical & Social implications: The results of this research can be used by stakeholders to formulate policies and programs that can encourage the creation of social entrepreneurial intentions among Generation Z and Generation Y because they have different needs and motivations for pursuing career aspirations as sociopreneurs. Originality/value: The results of this research contribute to the enrichment of the study of social entrepreneurial intention, which currently attracts many scholars because of the economic and social impact it produces. Perspektif Kewirausahaan Sosial dalam Kelompok Usaha Nata de Coco Sejahtera Mandiri di Nagari Balai Baiak III Koto, Kabupaten Padang Pariaman

This study aims to describe the application of social entrepreneurship elements and describe the canvas business model for social entrepreneurship development in the Nata de Coco Sejahtera Mandiri business group. This research was conducted for 1 month (July-August 2022). This type of research is descriptive qualitative using the case study method. The data used are primary data and secondary data obtained through observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. For the first objective, the data was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman data analysis model and for the second objective it was analyzed descriptively qualitatively, then an assessment of the social benefits of the program was carried out using the Social Return of Investment (SRoI) method. The results of this study indicate that the elements of social entrepreneurship have been implemented by the Nata de Coco Sejahtera Mandiri business group in the form of social values, civil society, innovation and economic activity, but have not optimally provided benefits. Nine elements in the business model canvas for social entrepreneurship development have been implemented consisting of customer segmentation, value proposition and social value, channels, customer relationships, revenue streams and community reinvestment, key activities, key resources, key partners, and cost structure, but not yet optimal. Based on the SRoI assessment of the Nata de Coco Sejahtera Mandiri business group, it can be concluded that the benefits generated are 1:0.03, meaning that social entrepreneurship activities have not been able to create sustainability benefits for stakeholders and have not been able to create social business independence, because the resulting SRoI ratio is less than 1 (1). We recommend that the Nata de Coco Sejahtera Mandiri business group optimize the management of environmental aspects by managing liquid waste from the production of Nata de Coco produced, increasing the participation of local residents and increasing the scale of social business.Keywords : Social Entrepreneurship, Nata de Coco, SRoI
