The Application of Virtual Simulation Technology in Macroeconomics Course

Under the environment of the rapid development of network science and technology, the application of virtual simulation technology in college experiment teaching has become a new direction of teaching reform. In recent years, virtual simulation technology has been well used in the experimental teaching of many science and technology subjects, but in the experimental teaching of humanities and social disciplines, especially economic management disciplines, the application of virtual simulation technology still needs to be developed and strengthened. According to the characteristics of the economic management compulsory subject Macroeconomics teaching, this paper discusses the teaching advantages of using virtual simulation technology and explores how to introduce virtual simulation technology into the experimental teaching of macroeconomics. This promotes the application of virtual simulation technology in the experimental course of “macroeconomics” from the two aspects of strengthening the support and management of the school and strengthening the cooperation with all forms of life, constantly improve the experimental teaching quality of the course, and provide beneficial practical exploration for the experimental teaching of economic management subjects.

This study aims to determine the learning strategy, describe the noble character, and describe the impact of the learning strategy of Islamic religious education teachers. This study is a qualitative descriptive study using a spiritual, psychological and pedagogical approach. The types of data used are primary and secondary data. Primary data sources come from the principal, vice principal, and Islamic religious education teachers. Secondary data sources come from teacher data, student data and infrastructure data. The main research instrument is the researcher himself then developed using observation guides, interviews and documentation checks. Data processing and analysis techniques go through three stages, namely the process of selecting data, presenting data and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the Islamic religious education strategy used at MI Asy Syifa Balikpapan is an inquiry, expository, cooperative, affective and problem solving learning strategy, consisting of questions and answers, discussions, lectures, habits, exercises, group work, assignments, punishments and rewards. Description of the noble character of students with assessment indicators, namely religiousness, social discipline, cleanliness, and student responsibility. The impact of learning strategies on students' noble morals is quite good, students begin to be diligent in worship, disciplined, responsible for their relationships and themselves. However, this strategy has not achieved what is expected, so this strategy must be developed by finding learning strategies that can further improve students' noble morals.

The Influences of Social Scientific Disciplines on the Interdisciplinarity of Public Administration Science

Public administration is a dynamic discipline that has evolved throughout history under the influence of various scientific fields, primarily social sciences. Its roots trace back to ancient civilizations, and it has significantly developed over centuries. As a scientific discipline and a complex social phenomenon, public administration encompasses sociological, political, legal, organizational, and other characteristics. The emergence and functioning of public administration as a crucial state instrument for law enforcement and ensuring social stability have been significantly influenced by numerous scientific disciplines, particularly political science, law, sociology, economics, and psychology. These disciplines provided the initial impetus and later momentum for the development of specific public administration concepts. Key theoretical approaches to studying public administration emphasize the importance of organizational structures and functionality within social systems. Understanding the historical and theoretical foundations of administration is essential for addressing contemporary challenges and opportunities in public administration. The aim of this paper is to highlight the influences of some key social and technological disciplines on the development of public administration, focusing on understanding how historical changes have shaped modern practices.

Trends in the modification of family forms under the influence of migration: data from a survey of experts

This article presents the first results of conceptualizing of the “migrant families”, investigations of family forms and models of relations, as well as the relationship between migration and the transformation of the institution of family and marriage using the example of migrant families from Central Asia in Russia. The empirical basis is in-depth interviews with 24 researchers representing various social disciplines and specializing in the study of international migration and family issues, both in Russia and in the Central Asian countries. The concept of “migrant families” refers to umbrella ones, since it covers different forms of families and models of family relations (marital, parent- child, kinship) at different stages of the family migration trajectory. Some forms of migrant families are following: transnational, including distant families; second or parallel families; mixed families; fictitious marriages/families; reunited families; families created during migration in Russia. The impact of migration on migrants’ families from Central Asia in Russia cannot be viewed as linear and unidirectional. Rather, such families find themselves in a continuum of many options, including norms of behavior and social practices in family relations accepted both in sending communities and in Russia. The choice of specific models of family relations, as well as the influence level of migration on an individual family, is to a certain extent determined by the family form, as well as the duration of the migration experience.

Humanities Decline in Darkness: How Humanities Research Funding Works

Abstract Humanities research is underfunded, and the institutional sources and intellectual effects of this underfunding are insufficiently appreciated. The paper gives an example of the negative effects of a humanities discipline’s lack of research infrastructure on scholarly work. Section 2 describes the main categories through which research funds arrive on U.S. campuses. Section 3 describes the disproportions between Science & Engineering (S&E or “STEM”) funding and funding for social and cultural disciplines. Section 4 discussions the “institutional funds” that universities use to cover research costs from their own pockets. Section 5 shows that universities do not use their institutional funds to compensate for inequities in humanities funding but to perpetuate them. Section 6 claims that the current state of humanities funding abridges academic freedom and calls on humanities administrative personnel to lead a national campaign to rectify the current situation. Misconceptions about humanities research and its funding must be openly acknowledged and addressed so that it can come to have public effects that reflect its actual intellectual achievements.

Adopting Social Justice as Nothing More than an Academic Jargon: Conceptualisation of Social Justice in Social Work and Social Policy Disciplines

A just society is not one where everyone is absolutely equal on all terms, nor scholarly literature on social justice is constrained by such a conception of the just. As observed from the broad scholarly literature of social justice, most theories in this field are competing and contending normative political perspectives informed by a sociological conception of inequalities and aiming to identify social, economic as well as institutional conditions under which resulting inequalities are morally necessary and desired, rather than proposing absolute equality. This work primarily aims to explore to what extent this foundational quality of social justice theories is adopted by peer-reviewed scholarly articles published in Türkiye within disciplines of social work and social policy whose identifying characteristic is to serve the establishment of the just society. Departing from this purpose, it methodologically employed a double-layered systematic literature review (n=184) and qualitative content analysis (n=62) to critically scrutinise peer-reviewed journal articles involving the concept of social justice. In addition to some complementary findings, these analyses resulted in three major findings based on which we argue that social justice in Türkiye is (1) primarily addressed as a part of the popular academic jargon along with some generic concepts such as human rights and welfare; (2) interchangeably used with the concept of equality although there are substantial distinctions between them; and (3) stressed in a way that there is a unified/homogenous conception of the just society that overlooks competing and contending normative perspectives in the relevant literature.

Collaboration for social‐ecological restoration: reflections from literature and practice

Collaboration is critical for engaging stakeholders and integrating diverse knowledges in social‐ecological restoration. Yet, despite the recognized benefits, ecosystem restoration has often not been collaborative across social and ecological disciplines or across different stakeholder scales. Drawing on relevant literature and practice‐based knowledge derived from our respective experiences working on the restoration of Indonesia's tropical peatlands, we emphasize the need for equitable task distribution; mutually beneficial, trust‐based relationships; inclusive and safe collaborative environments; scrutinizing and redressing power inequalities; establishing a shared understanding of, and vision for, social‐ecological contexts targeted for restoration; meeting on‐site and engaging with place‐based knowledge; and centering Indigenous and local knowledge. Putting in place these interconnected elements can contribute to a more integrated, equitable, adapted, sustained, and impactful collaboration for social‐ecological restoration.

Training social workers at the Master’s degree level: the Italian case

ABSTRACT The article focuses on the complexity of social work education at Master’s level in Italy. After a literature review on social work education, an exploratory research carried out between December 2021 and June 2022 is presented. The research questions are about how Italian universities provide Master’s level education for social workers and the specificities of the different programmes. Admission requirements, professional profiles, disciplines and practice training are some of the issues addressed. Considering the Master’s training system is characterized by an interdisciplinary approach, but provides limited focus on social work disciplines, the research study shows the need to train specialist social workers who have a strong professional identity and at the same time can take on managerial roles. These findings need to be considered in the immediate post-pandemic scenario and in the current historical stage, which is now an exceptional economic situation, that impacts on people’s conditions and welfare. As the pandemic has highlighted inequalities and new needs, a structural approach is now required that goes beyond the emergency phase, also considering that new resources were put into social and health services. The conclusions highlight some future perspectives for social work education in Italy and suggest possible new research developments.

An Analysis of Contemporary Women's Body Anxiety in the Social Media Environment

In today's internet age, social media has emerged as a dominant platform for people to receive and share messages. However, the widespread dissemination of information on social media regarding incorrect sizing has had detrimental effects on the physical and mental health of contemporary women. This paper, based on the theory of social discipline aims to explain how social media contributes to women's anxiety about their bodies and sizes. It also explores the specific manifestations of this body anxiety and finally puts forward suggestions for coping with size and body anxiety. To effectively tackle this issue, it is of utmost importance for the entire society, including both individuals and institutions to recognize that women should not be constrained by the aesthetic standards portrayed in mainstream media. Such awareness is essential in creating a more inclusive and accepting social environment that promotes the well-being and self-confidence of women.

ЦІННОСТІ ЗДОБУВАЧІВ ВИЩОЇ ОСВІТИ МЕДИЧНОГО УНІВЕРСИТЕТУ:ТЕОРІЯ І ПРАКТИКА

The article analyzes the theoretical and practical aspects of the values of student youth using the example of medical universities. Attention has been focused on the contradictions within the higher education system, the adaptation of first-year students to new conditions, and the features of the functioning of educational systems during wartime. Values are characterized in the context of comparing their positive and negative meanings, their division into material and spiritual categories, and their significance in axiology. The practical aspect of the conducted research reflects the experience of applying the «keyword» method in teaching humanities and social disciplines, aimed at developing skills in medical university students for analyzing and prioritizing academic and professional values. Through the «keyword» method, elements of students' self-assessment and their vision of the specifics of their future professional activities were identified. Based on the analysis of student responses, a list of key words in the field of medicine was compiled. It was found that first-year medical students understand the core professional values of future doctors, which ensure the prioritization of patients’ life and health, as well as the professionalism and moral responsibility of medical practitioners; while sixth-year students focus on the social aspects of the medical field (accessibility), its democratic nature (choice), and development prospects in response to unknown challenges (the future). The key words regarding the positive qualities of modern youth (values) were identified: persistence, tolerance, activity, openness, creativity, confidence, adaptability, and progressiveness; and the negative qualities (anti-values): apathy, irresponsibility, physical inactivity, overconfidence, arrogance, carelessness, laziness, insolence, imperfection, inconsistency, and overabundance. It is concluded that the issue of challenges faced by modern students in new conditions requires separate research. Identifying these challenges will allow for adjustments in the organization of the educational process and consideration of student opinions.

О роли гуманитарного образования в формировании гражданских ценностей студенческой молодежи

The article analyzes the role of humanitarian education in the formation of civic values among students. Attention is paid to the theoretical approaches of understanding civic values as a complex, multifaceted, multilevel dynamic structure. The basic civic values that make up the core of modern Russian citizenship are considered. It is emphasized that the specifics of civic values is due to the fact that they are an effective tool in the system of citizen–state relations only when they are internalized by a person and become a part of his/her civic consciousness and self-awareness. The emerging negative trend towards a decrease in the role of civic values in the personal life space urgently requires an increase in the subjects of the socio-humanitarian cycle in the formation of professional programs. The possibilities of social and humanitarian disciplines make it possible to increase the level of civic competence of students, to form the ideological foundations of civic consciousness for the personal self-realization of young people as active participants in the transformations of modern Russian society.

Modern digital society grapples with existential questions no less than those faced during previous states and social transformations. Fundamental inquiries about human existence, the meaning of life, and purpose in activity are increasingly resonating within a consumer-driven society. The recognition of the challenges posed by a technogenic civilization compels us to focus on social institutions capable of formulating and systematically implementing responses that adequately address these challenges. The digital environment, which dictates the demand for engineers, does not negate concerns about the human aspects inherent in professionals – namely, university graduates. This is substantively reflected in, and communicated through, the curriculum of social and humanitarian disciplines. This article examines the experiences derived from domestic and foreign research regarding the place and role of social and humanitarian disciplines in the professional preparation of engineering students. Based on the large-scale material of the above mentioned research results published in scientific journals and conference proceedings, a comparative analysis of humanization and boosting of the humanities practices in engineering education is carried out, common and special approaches are identified, trends and problem blocks are outlined.

The Wage Stop and Restricting Benefit Income in the United Kingdom: Discretion, Wages and Hardship

ABSTRACTIn 2013 the UK government introduced a household benefit cap to restrict the benefit income of its poorest people. Although taking different forms, such restrictions are not new there. Drawing upon files held at the UK's National Archives, this article focuses upon the years 1935 to 1975 during which the main benefit restriction that operated was the wage stop. The wage stop affected claimants categorised as unemployed. As the article demonstrates, those claimants not expected to do wage‐labour, such as lone mothers and sick people, could also have their benefit limited, though not via the wage stop. The article examines these benefit restrictions through notions of discretion. In doing so, it engages with the misconception that the wage stop was wholly discretionary. And through discussion of the main decisions that were embedded in discretion demonstrates how the discretionary potential to mitigate the impact of benefit restrictions, was often constrained by broader state concerns with labour and social discipline. Consequently, the potential positive use of discretion was limited by a desire not to incentivise behaviours and lifestyles deemed problematic. Hence, like the operation of today's benefit cap, wage‐stopped households faced lives marked by poverty, by, for example, poor diets, and inadequate clothing and essential household items.

‘Under a Just King Every Soldier Is a Citizen’: Acclaiming Military Honour and Mobilizing Civic Action in the Habsburg Monarchy during the Coalition Wars

Abstract This article highlights the regular soldier’s place in political rhetoric that urged the Habsburg Monarchy’s inhabitants to view support for the war against Revolutionary and Imperial France as a moral imperative. It establishes how military honour as a system of sociality and social disciplining, founded on contemporary ideals of virtue and natural law, promoted acts of selfless citizenship within a newly formed standing army that supported Habsburg state-building in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. The article then shows how regular soldiers of the Monarchy’s army were continually represented by the government and its supporters as selfless servants of the state, eliciting acts of loyalty in different places from those untouched by mandatory wartime demands. Particular attention is paid to the ways in which the educated middle class (Bürgertum) contributed to the Habsburg war effort through decades of localized wartime philanthropy. This article argues these people were motivated to do so through social and cultural changes that made self-identifying with the conscripted poor possible. By participating in civic society in this way, a generally progressive prewar segment of the population actively placed their view of the world within the constraints of the reactionary wartime Habsburg state by meeting military exigencies.

Artificial intelligence in teaching social disciplines: Opportunities and challenges of tools

Based on the analysis of scientific sources and practical experience in teaching social disciplines, the article reveals the role and problems of using AI in the system of higher education. The scientific opinion about the inevitability of using AI, despite its risks, in teaching social disciplines is expressed. A comparative analysis of the subject area, conceptual apparatus, functional purpose and research methods of social disciplines is carried out. Similar features are revealed, the basis of which is their focus on the scientific study of the social and psychological behaviour of individuals, social groups and communities. On the example of didactic methods of teaching social disciplines in higher education, the expediency of using AI tools in the process of teaching is substantiated. Their main capabilities are personalised learning, forecasting and trend analysis, data visualisation, simulations and virtual laboratories, speech, video and voice interfaces, assessment tools, and generation of comments and feedback. Clarification of the principles and main possibilities of using AI tools has revealed the main problems, which include ethics, reliability, transparency, insufficient professional training of teachers and imperfect legal support. We outline prospects for further research on the peculiarities of using AI tools to teach social disciplines in higher education.

The Place of World Economy Research in the Heterodox Analytics of Eurasian Integration

Aim. The article shows the increased productivity of heterodox approaches in the part of economics that studies the problems of the world economy, including regional integration.Methods. Illustrations of the apparent paradoxicity (for representatives of the economic mainstream) of geopolitical and world economic dynamics after 2022 are used to explain the importance of analyzing economic processes in the world economy, taking into account approaches of related social disciplines. The connection of some important scientific results of Russian scholars in the field of economics with the achievements of historians, orientalists and cultural scientists, representatives of economic and political geography and studies of international relations is shown.Results. The article describes the boundaries of the mathematization of the considered segment of heterodox analysis related to the unreliability of world economic statistics, with examples of the successful application of approximate (in a broad sense relative to mathematical terminology) calculations to assess shifts in foreign trade and foreign direct investment in contemporary Russia. The author demonstrates that the heterodox approach reveals the absence of contradiction between Russia’s intensification of Eurasian economic integration (including within the narrow limits of the EAEU) and our country’s efforts to build a more equitable polycentric world order, including strengthening the BRICS format. Greater interdisciplinary transparency for heterodox economists against the background of representatives of the mainstream, among other things, makes it possible to intensify fruitful cooperation between scientists and practical analysts representing analytical centers — think tanks of the post-Soviet space and neighboring countries in the interests of developing integration projects.Conclusions. The proposed methodological framework can enhance the effectiveness of the work of the analytical community of Russia and its friendly countries in obtaining new applied conclusions in the economic sphere, especially in terms of enhancing the effectiveness of integration efforts in Greater Eurasia. At the same time, heterodox economists are more receptive to cooperation with historians, political scientists and other analysts who have focused on Eurasian economic integration.

The Social and Sociological Province of Climate Change: Introduction

Despite its importance and prominence in public debates, including in many social science-related disciplines such as political science, anthropology, geography, and history, climate change has been unevenly addressed within critical sociology. In the tradition of critical theories, a critical sociology approach could contribute to climate science by discussing, for instance, what it means for societies and individuals to live together in times of ecological crisis and how this interplays with other crises and challenges of our time. As we face various transformations caused by climate change, sociology can inquire about social relations in the Anthropocene, including the critique of this concept and its alternatives, such as Capitalocene. This introductory article explores the intersection of sociology and the climate crisis, examining the sociological significance of the latter. It also discusses the importance for sociology, at both theoretical and empirical levels, to climate-related debates. It highlights the need for pluralistic approaches that can contribute to framing and addressing climate change, encompassing diagnosis, alternatives, science, and politics. The papers in this special issue seek to engage with and contribute to the abovementioned debate by covering theoretical and empirical perspectives on climate crisis, drawing attention to themes such as the relationship between critical theory and climate change, theories of modernity, the notion of (post)sustainability, just transitions, the role of media systems in fostering sustainable transformations, and the contribution of social movements to socioecological transformation, with a particular focus on the 'Global South'.

Green Behaviour Engagement Towards the Achievement of Sustainable Health: A Systematic Review and Bibliometric Analysis

Background The short-term actions generated by the proposed SDGs by the United Nations promote sustainability and raise the probability of finding the best global crisis solution. This research builds on previous studies that demonstrate the interconnectedness and reciprocal support of Goals 3 and 12 in their pursuit of societal transformation by altering production and consumption patterns. Focus of the Article This study set out to fill a knowledge need by examining the current state of the literature on the topic of how SDGs interact with one another. The paper primarily addressed SDGs 3 and 12. Research Question (a) How could green behaviour promote sustainable health, and what is the present status of research in this field across nations, research communities, academic journals, and professional organizations? (b) How, with research topic as the key domain, can we make progress towards Sustainable Development Goals 3 and 12 through the social marketing?. Importance to the Social Marketing Field The purpose of this paper is to provide a plan for bringing about societal transformation by means of sustained, short-term efforts in the realms of production and consumption, undertaken with the backing of the nation’s stakeholders. Doing so makes long-term success in altering health-related behaviours (prevention, protection, and persistence in the face of health hazards) more likely. Despite their best efforts to enhance the well-being of societies through social transformation, the authors believe that social marketers may be steering communities in an unsustainable direction. Method Thus, a systematic review and bibliometric analysis were conducted to ascertain the breadth of the research underlying the title by analyzing 135 Scopus publications from 74 journals from 2011–2022 and graphically presented and tabulated the trends, important authors, nations, research papers, and keyword co-occurrences. Biblioshiny, a Bibliometrix R-tool used for the purpose of scientific mapping. In addition, the alignment of study of keywords by taking social marketing discipline into account was justified through systematic review. Results Research on the interplay between SDGs and other factors is required, as 27% of the data remains unexplained. Short-term sustainable behaviours that may enhance health outcomes are combined in this study to better inform policymakers and marketers about consumers’ long-term commitment to sustainable green consumption. Recommendations for Research According to the study’s results, government agencies should create social marketing initiatives to influence the public’s behaviour and promote the health and well-being benefits associated with sustainable production and consumption. Additionally, they should provide incentives to businesses to expand their range of sustainable commodities. Businesses have a shared responsibility to develop, communicate and supply customers with the advantages of sustainable offerings, and enhance the demand for these products through a green marketing approach while reducing their prices. The ecosystem as a whole will reap the benefits of everyone’s efforts, as well as the health and happiness that comes with it. Limitations From 2011 through 2022, the Scopus database’s articles and review papers were used in the study. Additional knowledge in this area might be gained from a comparison of databases like Web of Science, Dimensions, Google Scholar, etc. The study had no geographic focus. Therefore, future research should assess this field’s national and regional potential.

Социальная адаптация китайских студентов в России как управленческая проблема

At the present time, there is an increasing need to study modern concepts of adaptation of foreign students in Russia due to the growing number of foreign students in our country. This material is devoted to the reflection of this problem in the works of modern researchers from the point of view of the factors that hinder the increase in the degree of manageability of the adaptation process and the availability of formulated strategies that contribute to the solution of this problem. In this paper, the principle of metasystematization is used to analyze individual works on this problem, and the above strategies are formulated on the basis of these studies in the context of the strategic approach. The paper concludes that modern studies on the adaptation of Chinese students highlight the language barrier, the degree of cultural fatigue, the lack of motivation to adapt to the temporary environment, as well as the differences between Russian and Chinese students in the attitude to social discipline, reactions to social stimuli and etiquette and ritual forms of social interaction as significant factors of maladaptation. It is pointed out that there are myths that hinder the adaptation process, among which are the established ideas about the Chinese unwillingness to actively interact, inability to communicate in a foreign environment and to adopt new ways of learning and communication. In order to increase the degree of manageability of the adaptation process, the authors, based on the modern studies, propose several interrelated strategies: moral-ethical strategy, team-oriented strategy, imagegamification strategy, pragmatic-oriented strategy, and the strategy of social significance. The application of these strategies is aimed at overcoming the factors of Chinese students' maladaptation in Russian society.
