A Symposium on Advanced Concepts and Techniques in the Study of Snow and Ice Resources will be held on December 2–6, 1973, at the Asilomar Conference Grounds at Monterey, California. The symposium is being organized to discuss new concepts and techniques that may be applicable to the effective management of snow and ice resources. The special focus is on measurement; on data accumulation and information dissemination systems; and on how new techniques from electronics, nuclear, remote sensing, telemetric, and other allied fields are or may be applied to the study of the four major subdivisions of the subject of snow and iceseasonal snow cover, permanent snow cover, sea ice, and freshwater ice.
