Mobile Digital Forensics Framework for Smartphone User Analysis

Blockchain-based digital forensics technology is an efficient way to prevent forgery/modulation of evidence including collecting and analyzing evidential data using the technology in compliance with smartphone forensics procedures after a smartphone is seized. Moreover, the use of large-capacity storage devices and various digital devices have become a realistic solution for its development of IT in situations where the existing digital forensics analysis methods are regarded as limitations. This paper analyzed user’s status on smartphone application and implemented a smartphone user analysis framework that may extract significant digital evidence in a digital forensic way based on a blockchain perspective. In this paper researched a system that may provide important information to digital forensic analysts through these frameworks. It is expected that the proposed system will be expanded by much more structured data and online unstructured data such as SNS reports.

A Forensic Evidence Recovery from Android Device Applications

In a computerized world, indeed unlawful conduct and/or violations may be named as advanced. This world is expanding. Getting to be versatile, where the fundamental computation and communication substances are Little Scale Computerized Gadgets (SSDDs) such as standard versatile phones, individual computerized collaborators, smartphones, and tablets. The ought to recoup information, which might refer to illegal and unethical exercises gave rise to the teaching of portable forensics, which has ended up a fundamental portion of computerized forensics. The literature relevant to Smartphone forensics, as explored in this paper, focuses on the architecture of Smartphone operating systems. It also addresses the digital evidence of Smartphone applications. in this paper undertakes practical experiments to identified sources for evidence that can later be used in the judiciary system. In this research, I'll use open-source Tools that can recover deleted data from the application.

COMPARATIVE STUDY OF VARIOUS DIGITAL FORENSICS LOGICAL ACQUISITION TOOLS FOR ANDROID SMARTPHONE’S INTERNAL MEMORY: A CASE STUDY OF SAMSUNG GALAXY S5 AND S6

Due to the rich set of exciting features available in Android smartphones makes it possible to be used vastly by the user around the world and hence android occupies a large share from among other operating system based Smartphone. The popularity of Android smartphones is growing rapidly day by day and it plays a vital role in our daily lives. The feature-rich state of Android smartphones makes it possible to be used in criminal intended activities. The Android smartphones are merely used in criminal activities and hence it can be used as a solid source of digital evidence. A range of Smartphone's forensics tools are available in the market which can be used to recover digital evidence from the Android smartphones. In this paper, authors have made efforts to highlights the range of Smartphone forensics tools which can be used to perform logical acquisition on the internal memory of android based smartphones and then provide the comparison between Smartphone forensics tools on the basis of their ability to acquire data from the internal memory of Android smartphones. It has been found that there no tool available which can extract the complete range of digital evidence from Android-based smartphones.

A study of user relationships in smartphone forensics

During a criminal investigation it is important to find the relation between criminals or people of interest, i.e. finding a person of interest will provide important evidence or lead in said investigation. A smartphone is a useful evidence to find related criminals because smartphones store their contacts information. However, simply using smartphone data can prove difficult to grasp the relationship between the user and connected people. In addition, due to the increase in smartphone data, a modern approach is needed for the investigation. If an investigator can use the recorded data on the smartphone and look at the contact data as a number, they therefore, can grasp the relationship between the user and the contact which will be a more efficient way of finding people of interest. I.e. a high number means they are close to one another. A close relationship is an indication of a high possibility that they may be criminally related. This paper proposes a method which shows connectivity, between a user and another as a numerical value, by using recorded data of SMS/MMS, Call applications, contact information and stored time information. This number is based on amount of times one user has contacted another user, we called the number `Relation Point'. We use the normalization database to efficiently utilize various application data. Therefore, a relation point experiment is performed by smartphone forensic software, which uses the algorithm. The experiment result verifies effectiveness.

Firefox OS 포렌식 기법에 관한 연구

ABSTRACT As the market share of smartphone exponentially increases in mo bile market, a number of manufacturers have developed their own operating system. Firefox OS is an open source operating sy stem for the smartphone and tablet which is being developed by the Mozilla Foundation. This OS is designed using JavaScript and operated based on HTML5. Even though the number of manufacturers which release the Firefox OS smartphone is consis tently increasing, However it is difficult to analyze artifacts in a smartphone in terms of investigation since existing researche s on Firefox OS focused on imaging velocity according to abstra ct forensic process and block size. ABSTRACT As the utilization rate of smart device increases, various applications for smart device have been developed. Since these applications can contain important data related to user behavio rs in digital forensic perspective, the analysis of them should be conducted in advance. However, lots of applications get to have new data format or type when they are updated. Therefore, whether the applications are updated or not should be checked o ne by one, and if they are, whether their data are changed should be also analyzed. But observing application data repeatedly is a time-consuming task, and that is why the effective method for dealing with this problem is needed. This paper suggests the automatic system which gets updated inf ormation and checks changed data by collecting application information. Skype Forensics in Android Devices

The discipline of smartphone forensics has recently got more attention because of the tremendous growth in the smartphones market. Smartphones, to some extent, have similar capabilities to that of PCs. They can store large amount of data and divergent categories of information. Among other mobile platforms, Android-based devices are getting more popularity. Variety of mobile Applications (Apps) are increasingly developed to mainly extend the functionally of the phones. The usage of Voice over IP (VoIP) Apps has explosively increased for their wide availability and cheap prices. As Skype is one of the most popular VoIP Apps, in this paper we investigate the artifacts of Skype calls and chats in the Android devices. We inspect both the RAM and NAND flash memories in different scenarios and time durations. Even though Skype provides secure communications over the Internet, this paper shows that Skype call and chat evidences can be truly found in the devices. Smartphone Forensics Analysis: A Case Study

Abstract—Smartphone forensics is a sub-set of digital forensics, and refers to the investigation and acquisition of artefacts in mobile phones. New threats to mobile phones made forensic science a challenging endeavour in the last couple of years. Number of mobile users is increasing worldwide and createstremendous problems and challenges. The literature relevant to Smartphone forensics, as explored in this paper, focuses on the architecture of Smartphone operating systems and anti-forensics techniques. It also addresses the digital evidence of Smartphone applications. In this paper, through a consideration of types of crimes involving Smartphone’s, a real case study from the Sultanate of Oman is presented. This case study undertakes practical experiments to identified sources for evidence that can later be used in the judiciary system.
