Polycaprolactone/graphene oxide/magnesium oxide as a novel composite scaffold for bone tissue engineering: Preparation and physical/biological assessment

Mechanically robust biocomposite scaffolds were fabricated by the electrospinning method for bone tissue engineering using a blend of polycaprolactone (PCL), and graphene oxide (GO) with magnesium oxide (MgO) nanoparticles. Physicochemical characteristics including morphology, tensile strength, swelling behavior, biodegradability, contact angle, cell viability, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity, mineralization ability, and osteogenic gene expression of the scaffolds were characterized. The addition of small amounts of GO and MgO nanoparticles significantly improved the morphological and mechanical properties of the PCL scaffold. The hydrophilicity, swelling ratio, and biodegradability of the developed composite scaffolds were improved. The PCL/GO/MgO scaffold demonstrated excellent biocompatibility and in-vitro biological performance with adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells. Cell attachment, proliferation, ALP activity, mineral deposition, and osteogenesis-related gene expression were enhanced when compared to the pure PCL and PCL/GO scaffolds. Simultaneous incorporation of GO and MgO nanoparticles at a concentration of 2 wt% dramatically increased the differentiation of MSCs into osteoblasts. These findings may suggest that the hydrophilic properties and high protein adsorption of PCL/GO/MgO scaffold can stimulate cell proliferation, and nucleation to help improve bone mineralization.

Optimized Graphene Hydrogels for Electrochemical Applications from High-Concentration GO/Gnp Dispersions

As the world combats climate change, energy storage solutions will be required to bridge the gap between the supply and demand of renewable energy sources. Supercapacitors have a higher power density and cyclic stability than batteries, making them more useful for selected applications. These devices utilize high surface area electrode materials, such as graphene, with enough active sites for sufficient ion adsorption to occur. Graphene hydrogels self-assemble via the hydrothermal reduction of graphene oxide (GO) dispersions. These three-dimensional structures have high specific surface areas while avoiding the use of binders. Binders usually negatively impact the conductivity of the material and require the use of conductive additives which lower specific performance data. As such, graphene hydrogels are attractive as a supercapacitor electrode material.Recently, graphene nanoplatelet (GNP) dispersions stabilized by small amounts of GO were used to form more cost-effective and better-performing hydrogels. Though GO/GNP hydrogels are a suitable alternative to those formed from dispersions of GO, the formulation of this material has yet to be optimized. In this work, we investigate the formation of GO/GNP hydrogels by assessing the influence of several input parameters on the specific surface area and mechanical stability of the hydrogel structure. A set of experiments based on a design of experiments is used. Based on the results, an optimized hydrogel is formed and characterized. Compared to typical hydrogels formed from dispersions of GO, the optimized GO/GNP hydrogel leads to significant improvements in both the specific surface area and conductivity of the material. When used in a supercapacitor, low internal resistance and high stability are observed while volumetric capacitance is increased by up to over 400%.

Cement-Based Graphene Oxide Composites: A Review on Their Mechanical and Microstructure Properties

Concrete is a material made from cement that is widely used because it has a high compressive strength, is resistant to water, is easy to mold, and is cheap to make. But concrete’s biggest problem is that it’s easy to break because it does not resist cracking well, has low tensile strength, and cannot take a lot of stress. Researchers have been successful in enhancing the quality of cement composites by using fibers, admixtures, and other cementitious materials. When it comes to building objects, nanotechnology could open up a whole new world. Building materials have made nanosized materials that are used to make cementitious materials stronger and last longer. For example, they stop microcracks from starting and spreading. One of the most well-known graphene derivative nanomaterials is graphene oxide (GO), which has a lot of active oxygen-containing groups on its surface, outstanding mechanical properties, and thermal conductivity. Researchers have found that adding small amounts of GO in various dosages increases the flexural, tensile, and compressive strengths of cement paste and mortar. The majority of studies have looked at cement paste and mortar. There are few GO-concrete studies. One of the most characteristic graphene derivative nanomaterials, graphene oxide (GO), has a huge specific surface area, outstanding mechanical properties, thermal conductivity, and a lot of active oxygen-containing groups on its surface. Ball mill enhances the functionalization of boron nitride: The application for polyimide fillers

Polymer properties can be tuned by the addition of filler materials such as carbon-base materials and inorganic materials. In recent years, 2D filers as additives for polymers have extensively been studied. Among them, functionalized hexagonal boron nitride (FBN) improves polymers’ physical properties. In this study, we prepared 27 types of FBNs by using different ball milling parameters in the presence of amine molecules. Ball mill conditions, such as the ratios of h-BN and the amine, rotation speeds, and treatment times of ball milling, were investigated, and then, the FBNs were covalently bonded with polyimide (PI) in all specimens. An optimum FBN-PI composite showed tensile strength and tensile modulus of 151.1 MPa and 3.8 GPa, respectively. Finally, we found that the tensile strength and modulus were increased to 159.2 MPa and 3.9 GPa by addition of a small amount of graphene oxide (GO) that were combined with FBN and PI. The ball milling and covalent bonding approach efficiently developed high-performance BN-polymer composite films.

Effect of Graphene Oxide and Reduced Graphene Oxide on the Properties of Sunflower Oil-Based Polyurethane Films.

Sunflower oil was used for the synthesis of a polyol via an epoxidation reaction followed by a ring-opening reaction. The successful synthesis of the sunflower oil-based polyol (SFO polyol) was demonstrated through structural characterizations and wet-chemistry analysis. Bio-based polyurethane (BPU) films were fabricated using synthesized polyol and diisocyanate. Various amounts of graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) were added separately to see their effect on the physicomechanical and thermal properties of BPU films. Several tests, such as thermogravimetric analysis, tensile strength, dynamic mechanical analysis, hardness, flexural strength, and the water contact angle, were performed to evaluate the effect of GO and rGO on the properties of the BPU films. Some of the analyses of the BPU films demonstrated an improvement in the mechanical properties, for example, the tensile strength increased from 22.5 to 26 MPa with the addition of only 0.05 wt.% GO. The storage modulus improved from 900 to 1000 and 1700 MPa after the addition of 0.02 and 0.05 wt.% GO, respectively. This study shows that a small amount of GO and rGO could improve the properties of BPU films, making them suitable for use in coating industries.

Laser-Induced Forward Transferred Optical Scattering Nanosilica for Transparent Displays.

Laser printing has become a promising alternative for large-scale fabrication of functional devices. Here, laser-induced forward transfer (LIFT) of nanosilica was successfully achieved using a lower-cost nanosecond laser with a center wavelength of 1064 nm. To enhance the light absorption of silica, a small amount of graphene oxide (GO) was added to the fumed silica. Investigations were conducted to give an insight into the role of GO in the LIFT process. Pattern deposition was achieved with a minimum line width of 221 μm. The scattering can be tuned from ~2.5% to ~17.5% by changing the laser fluence. The patternable transparent display based on laser transferred nanosilica (LTNS) film was also demonstrated, showing its capability to deliver information on multiple levels. This LIFT based technique promotes fast, flexible, and low-cost manufacturing of scattering-based translucent screens or patterns for transparent displays.

Additive manufacturing of graphene oxide/hydroxyapatite bioceramic scaffolds with reinforced osteoinductivity based on digital light processing technology

In the field of bone tissue engineering, porous hydroxyapatite (HA) bone repair scaffolds with controlled architecture and porosity are challenging to manufacture and lack sufficient osteoinductive activity, which limit its wider clinical application. This study fabricated porous graphene oxide (GO)/HA composite ceramic scaffolds using digital light processing (DLP) technology. The properties of the composite ceramic slurry and the process parameters of curing, degreasing, and sintering were initially examined to ensure molding accuracy. The research showed that a small amount of GO (0.1–0.4 wt%) could better maintain the pore structure and improve the mechanical properties of composite ceramics. Porous scaffolds with pore sizes of 300–400 μm were prepared for co-culture with rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells to detect biocompatibility. The results showed that all scaffolds have no cytotoxicity. Compared with HA, the GO/HA ceramic scaffold significantly promoted the cell adhesion, proliferation, and expression of osteogenesis-related genes; GO (0.1–0.2 wt%) /HA scaffolds exhibited superior alkaline phosphatase activity and more effective bone mineralization, showing enhanced osteoinductivity. The porous GO/HA composite scaffold fabricated by DLP presented a strong potential for repairing bone defects.

Synthesis and Electrochemical Performance of KVO/GO Composites as Anodes for Aqueous Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Batteries.

K0.25V2O5 (KVO) and K0.25V2O5/graphene oxide (KVO/GO) have been successfully synthesized by a chemical coprecipitation method and a subsequent calcination process. The structure and morphology of KVO and KVO/GO were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The as-obtained vanadate and vanadate modified by GO materials were used as anodes with LiMn2O4 as a cathode and saturated LiNO3 as an electrolyte to assemble an aqueous rechargeable lithium-ion battery (ARLB). The cyclic voltammogram curves of both KVO and KVO/GO electrodes exhibited three pairs of redox peaks corresponding to charge/discharge platforms. We found that a small amount of graphene oxide added improved the electrochemical performance more significantly than excess graphene oxide. The as-prepared KVO/GO//LiMn2O4 could not only improve the initial discharge capacity but could also reduce the attenuation at a high current density. Furthermore, the ARLB with a KVO/GO anode exhibited an excellent rate performance and super long cycle life. These good electrochemical properties of this new ARLB system actually provided feasibility for application in large-scale power sources and energy storage devices.

Effects of a graphene oxide-alginate sheet scaffold on rotator cuff tendon healing in a rat model

Natural polymer scaffolds used to promote rotator cuff healing have limitations in terms of their mechanical and biochemical properties. This animal study aimed to investigate the effects of combined graphene oxide (GO) and alginate scaffold and the toxicity of GO on rotator cuff healing in a rat model. First, the mechanical properties of a GO/alginate scaffold and a pure alginate scaffold were compared. The in vitro cytotoxicity of and proliferation of human tenocytes with the GO/alginate scaffold were evaluated by CCK-8 assay. For the in vivo experiment, 20 male rats were randomly divided into two groups (n = 10 each), and supraspinatus repair was performed: group 1 underwent supraspinatus repair alone, and group 2 underwent supraspinatus repair with the GO/alginate scaffold. Biomechanical and histological analyses were performed to evaluate the quality of tendon-to-bone healing 8weeks after rotator cuff repair. The GO/alginate scaffold exhibited an increased maximum load (p = .001) and tensile strength (p = .001). In the cytotoxicity test, the cell survival rate with the GO/alginate scaffold was 102.08%. The proliferation rate of human tenocytes was no significant difference between the GO/alginate and alginate groups for 1, 3, 5, and 7days. Biomechanically, group 2 exhibited a significantly greater ultimate failure load (p < .001), ultimate stress (p < .001), and stiffness (p < .001) than group 1. The histological analysis revealed that the tendon-to-bone interface in group 2 showed more collagen fibers bridging, tendon-to-bone integration, longitudinally oriented collagen fibers, and fibrocartilage formation than in group 1. A small amount of GO added to alginate improved the mechanical properties of the scaffold without evidence of cytotoxicity. At 8 weeks after rotator cuff repair, the GO/alginate scaffold improved tendon-to-bone healing without causing any signs of toxicity in a rat model.

High-efficiency antibacterial and barrier properties of natural rubber/graphene oxide@Ag/carboxymethyl chitosan composites

ABSTRACT Natural rubber (NR) latex gloves serve as a very important barrier protection for health care workers. It is of great significance to study the barrier and antibacterial properties of NR latex products. Herein, a small amount of graphene oxide (GO) with in situ grown silver (Ag) nanoparticles was self-assembled in the NR latex by carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS) as a cross-linking agent to form a novel NR/GO-Ag-CMCS composite with three-dimensional filler networks. The filler networks in the NR/GO-Ag-CMCS composite were formed by a strong interfacial interaction between NR macromolecules and GO-Ag-CMCS hybrids. The tensile strength and tear strength of NR/GO-Ag-CMCS composite were higher than those of pure NR film. With the increase of GO content, the filler network of NR/GO-Ag-CMCS film tended to be more complete and its barrier was stronger. Moreover, the NR/GO-Ag-CMCS composite showed excellent antibacterial performance against Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus). The minimal inhibitory concentration values of GO-Ag-CMCS hybrid to E. coli and S. aureus were 8 and 16 μg/mL, respectively. For the NR/GO-Ag-CMCS composite with 0.1 phr GO, the diameters of its inhibition zone were 15.6 mm for E. coli and 13.6 mm for S. aureus.

Polyvinyl Alcohol/Graphene Oxide Conductive Hydrogels via the Synergy of Freezing and Salting Out for Strain Sensors.

Hydrogels of flexibility, strength, and conductivity have demonstrated broad applications in wearable electronics and soft robotics. However, it is still a challenge to fabricate conductive hydrogels with high strength massively and economically. Herein, a simple strategy is proposed to design a strong ionically conductive hydrogel. This ion-conducting hydrogel was obtained under the synergistic action by salting out the frozen mixture of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and graphene oxide (GO) using a high concentration of sodium chloride solution. The developed hydrogel containing only 5 wt% PVA manifests good tensile stress (65 kPa) and elongation (180%). Meanwhile, the PVA matrix doped with a small amount of GO formed uniformly porous ion channels after salting out, endowed the PVA/GO hydrogel with excellent ionic conductivity (up to 3.38 S m−1). Therefore, the fabricated PVA/GO hydrogel, anticipated for a strain sensor, exhibits good sensitivity (Gauge factor = 2.05 at 100% strain), satisfying working stability (stably cycled for 10 min), and excellent recognition ability. This facile method to prepare conductive hydrogels displays translational potential in flexible electronics for engineering applications.

Graphene oxide-assisted fast synthesis of hierarchical ZSM-11 with superior performance for benzene alkylation

Fast synthesis of zeolite with hydrothermal method is a challengeable topic. In this work, we reduced the crystallization time to ~1/3 of conventional method by adding a small amount of graphene oxide (GO) into ZSM-11 synthesis gel. The embedment of GO into ZSM-11 crystal was confirmed by XPS, TG, and Raman spectra, while it modified morphology, porosities, component, and surface acidity of ZSM-11 as characterized by SEM, TEM, XRF, N2-physisorbtion, NH3-TPD, and Py-IR. The non-classical nucleation, which governed the required crystallization time, was further proposed and evidenced by both experimental observations and molecular dynamic modeling. It clearly illustrated the positive role of GO on promoting the formation of meta-stable phase during non-classic nucleation, resulting into much shorter crystallization time. GO embedded ZSM-11 demonstrated high activity (reaction rate and TOF), improved selectivity, and superior stability for benzene alkylation with ethanol, which can be attributed to the regulated surface acidity and diffusion properties. This work opens up a new perspective to synthesize ZSM-11 zeolite with superior catalytic performance in a highly efficient and environmental manner.

Crystalline hydroxyapatite/graphene oxide complex by low-temperature sol-gel synthesis and its characterization

This study presents a method for synthesizing hydroxyapatite (HA) with high crystallinity at low temperatures using a small amount of graphene oxide (GO), and the characters of produced GO/crystalline HA complex was investigated. The morphology and components of the synthesized HA (i.e., HA/GO) were analyzed through scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy; additionally, the yield of the HA/GO was assessed. The HA/GO results were analyzed by comparing them with those obtained using HA synthesized without GO as a control group. A yield of ~4 mg of HA/GO was attained by the use of 100 μg of GO, demonstrating 20% improvement over the control group. The crystal phase analysis confirmed that crystalline HA of fine quality with nano-size was simply synthesized without intermediate phases using adding a small amount of GO, and the synthesized HA without GO is consist of intermediate phases (brushite and octacalcium phosphate) and hydroxyapatite. Biological characteristics of HA/GO were assessed through the behavioral analysis of mesenchymal stem cell attachment, proliferation, differentiation, and its protein adhesion capacity. HA/GO exhibited excellent biocompatibility and osteogenic differentiation behavior together with better protein adhesion ability than HA. These results demonstrate potential of HA/GO for application in bone tissue engineering. Thus, HA/GO can be developed as a biomimic biocomposite by combining it with bioactive molecules such as growth factors.

Ag@AgBr/graphene oxide/Ni composite film: A highly efficient and stable visible-light-induced plasma photocatalyst and catalytic mechanism

Photocatalytic films are among the best candidates for practical applications because of their features of facile fixing and recycling. Ag@AgBr/Graphene Oxide (GO)/Ni surface plasma composite thin film catalyst was successfully prepared by a simple composite electrodeposition method. The photocatalytic (PC) activity and kinetic properties of the composite films for degradation of Rhodamine B, methyl orange, and Congo red were investigated under visible light. The photocatalysis mechanism was explored using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and addition of active species trapping agents into the reaction system. The results show that the Ag@AgBr/GO/Ni composite film prepared by the optimal process is composed of a small amount of GO and AgBr crystal with Ag nanoparticles on the surface. The composite film demonstrates outstanding surface plasmon resonance, excellent PC activity, and good catalytic stability. The degradation efficiency for Rhodamine B using Ag@AgBr/GO/Ni composite film is 1.35 times greater than that using Ag@AgBr/Ni film. The main reason for the improvement in the PC performance of the composite films is that the charge conductivity and PC reduction of dissolved oxygen of the films are greatly improved by the presence of GO.

Addition of small amounts of graphene oxide in the polyol during the synthesis of waterborne polyurethane urea adhesives for improving their adhesion properties

Mixtures of polyadipate of 1,4-butanediol polyol and different small amounts (0.01–0.10 wt%) of graphene oxide (GO) were added during the synthesis of waterborne polyurethane urea dispersions (PUDs) carried out with the acetone method. The addition of 0.02–0.04 wt% GO increased the T-peel strength of plasticized poly (vinyl chloride)/PUD/plasticized poly (vinyl chloride) joints whereas the addition of 0.05–0.10 wt% GO increased the single lap-shear strength of stainless steel/PUD/stainless steel joints. The improved adhesion of the PUDs containing GO was ascribed to the creation of covalent interactions between the surface groups on the GO surface and the NCO groups of the isocyanate during prepolymer formation, creating new urethane groups; during the phase inversion, the covalently bonded GO sheets were embedded between the polyurethane urea chains inside the PUD particles, this changed the degree of phase separation between the hard and the soft segments. When more than 0.04 wt% GO was added, some GO particles cannot be covalently bonded to the prepolymer during the PUD synthesis but they agglomerated and physically “trapped” between the polyurethane urea chains. As a consequence, the adhesion properties of the PU + GO films were different in the PU films containing 0.01–0.04 wt% GO and the ones containing 0.05–0.10 wt% GO.

Cellulose acetate butyrate graphene oxide nanocomposite membrane: Fabrication, characterization, and performance

In this study, the effects of graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets on the physicochemical properties and performances of cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB) membranes were investigated. Nanocomposite membranes were fabricated using CAB and a small amount of GO in the range of 0 to 0.07 wt.%, using a conventional phase-inversion method. Membranes were characterized by different methods and their performances were tested using a dead-end filtration system. Compared with pristine CAB membrane, experimental results demonstrated an improvement in features such as hydrophilicity, permeability, salt rejection, antifouling, and stability. The results proved an increase in the porosity and pore sizes of membranes with GO addition. Furthermore, the membrane containing 0.07 wt.% of GO exhibited a low contact angle of 37??and a dramatic improvement in water flux of about 450% (from 2 to 11 L/(m2 h)). Moreover, it demonstrated a salt rejection of 39% for NaCl and 87% for Na2SO4, corresponding to improvements of about 144 and 93%, respectively. Furthermore, the results revealed a higher antifouling property with an 86% improvement in flux recovery and higher stability in terms of performance and thermal properties compared to CAB.

Interfacial effects on ferroelectric and dielectric properties of GO reinforced free-standing and flexible PVDF/ZnO composite membranes: Bias dependent impedance spectroscopy

Flexible membranes with attractive ferroelectric and dielectric properties are promising for numerous technological devices, such as, energy storage and harvesting devices, sensors etc. Here we report the development of conducting nanofiller containing inorganic semiconductor and organic polymer based tri-phase composite membranes and demonstrate their ferroelectric and frequency dependent dielectric characteristics. The graphene oxide (GO) nanosheet reinforced free-standing, flexible and β-phase abundant PVDF/ZnO composite membranes are fabricated by simple, low-cost and scalable chemical method. The ferroelectric properties of the PVDF polymer based composite membranes are modified through incorporation of small amount of GO and ZnO without sacrificing the mechanical flexibility as evidenced by electrical polarization characteristics. The ferroelectric polarization for PVDF/ZnO and PVDF/ZnO/GO membranes are respectively 15.98 and 14.14 μC/cm2 at only 15 kV/cm electric field which are distinctly superior than PVDF-copolymer and PVDF-perovskite based composites as reported recently. Furthermore, as per our knowledge for the first time we have studied the effects of external electric field on dielectric relaxation times originating from the electrical responses from core grains and grain-boundary or interfaces by using dc bias dependent impedance spectroscopy. The modulation in dielectric permittivity of the composite membranes is attributed to the formation of complete β-crystalline phase in PVDF/ZnO/GO membranes and introduction of active interfaces facilitating induced electrical polarization. These studies provide significant insight into the interfacial effects on the electrical transport, ferroelectric and dielectric properties of tri-phase PVDF/ZnO/GO polymer membrane, an emerging energy material.

Engineering stiffness in highly porous biomimetic gelatin/tertiary bioactive glass hybrid scaffolds using graphene nanosheets

Class II organic-inorganic hybrid materials have emerged as a promising replacement for the conventional bioactive glass particle-polymer composite biomaterials. Although these materials benefit from several advantages, such as controlled congruent degradation and improved cell response compared with the conventional composites, they become brittle when the inorganic-to-organic ratio exceeds an optimum value, rendering them unsuitable for tissue engineering applications. Here, a series of hybrid composite scaffolds were prepared from gelatin, tertiary bioactive glass and graphene oxide (GO) using a sol-gel/gas foaming technique. This study shows that rather than increasing the inorganic concentration to increase the mechanical stiffness, a small amount of GO (1 and 2 wt%) can be used to remarkably improve the Young's modulus of hybrid materials, by about 200%, without deteriorating the strain to failure. The hybrid scaffolds underwent a linear biodegradation, and a remarkable bioactivity reflected in a thick layer of hydroxyapatite formed on their surfaces after 14 days of immersion in carbonate buffered Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium. The excellent biocompatibility of these scaffolds towards human adipose-derived mesenchymal stromal cells was confirmed in vitro. GO-doped organic-inorganic hybrid composite scaffolds may be ideal materials for a range of tissue engineering applications such as interface and non-load bearing bone tissue engineering.

Graphene oxide does not seem to improve the fracture properties of injection molded PA6

Scientific literature presents a number of examples in which the mechanical properties of materials are significantly improved by adding small amounts of nano-particles. In many cases, the addition of such nano-particles is performed on polymer-matrix composites, with reported improvements in mechanical, optical, thermal or electrical properties. Therefore, the potential of this technology is huge and a great deal of research work is being performed with the aim of generating new advanced engineering materials. However, this paper presents the other side of the coin. The authors have introduced small amounts of Graphene Oxide (up to 1%) in PA6 with the aim of studying their effect on the fracture properties of the resulting composites. For the particular conditions analyzed here, no improvements in the fracture behavior (in both cracked and notched conditions) have been observed (a similar conclusion may be obtained for the tensile behavior). Other types of material properties were not covered in the analysis. Sharing this kind of (negative) results may save other researchers time and budget, and it is a much more common practice in other fields of science.

Multifunctional Graphene-Oxide-Reinforced Dissolvable Polymeric Microneedles for Transdermal Drug Delivery.

Dissolvable polymeric microneedles (DPMNs) are promising transdermal drug delivery systems with minimal invasiveness and improved patient compliance. Incorporation of a small amount of graphene oxide (GO) in the biocompatible polymers for microneedle fabrication results in important new DPMN properties, that is, dramatically enhanced mechanic strength (10-17 times at 500 mg/mL GO), improved moisture resistance, self-sterilization, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties (demonstrated in vitro), and near-infrared light-activated controlled drug release (demonstrated in vitro and in vivo), which were exploited for the transdermal delivery of the chemotherapeutic, HA15, to melanoma-bearing mouse models. These new properties improve their efficacy of transdermal drug delivery and ease of use, enhance their capability of controlled drug release, enlarge the scope of the polymers that can be used for DPMN fabrication, prevent microbial contamination during storage and transportation, and reduce infection risk in clinical applications.
