Advancing academic standards: Management model for national reputable scientific writing training for lecturers

The root of the problem in this research is the fact that scientific writing with a national reputation is still low and the publication of scientific writing with a national reputation is also low, thus affecting the quality of lecturers at the University. To overcome this problem, this research developed a training management model that can improve the scientific writing skills of lecturers and familiarize lecturers to actively conduct nationally reputable scientific writing. The training management model in question is called the “National Reputable Scientific Writing Training Management” model. This type of research is development research or R&D to produce a valid, practical, and effective model, as well as all devices and research instruments related to the application of the model at the University. The results showed that: (1) the National Reputable Scientific Writing Training Management model is suitable for improving the scientific writing ability of lecturers; (2) the output of the National Reputable Scientific Writing Training Management model in the model group is significantly higher than the initial group (pre-model); (3) The average value of IP/IO from experts is 4.4 with a high category, from observers at stage I test is 4.0 with a high category, at stage II test is 4.7 with a high category and stage III test is 4.77 with a high category, so it is concluded that the National Reputable Scientific Writing Training Management model meets the criteria of effectiveness, practicality and implementation; (4) The response of university managers and respondents to the implementation of the model is quite satisfactory, both regarding the concept of the model, the application in technical implementation and their perception of the National Reputable Scientific Writing Training Management model; and (5) the National Reputable Scientific Writing Training Management model can be developed as an alternative implementation in training management at the university.

In the trend of globalization, under the impact of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, teaching activities at universities need to be thoroughly innovated and apply modern teaching methods and forms to meet the requirements of promoting students' positivity, initiative, and creativity; improve knowledge exploration and discovery skills, teamwork skills, self-study and self-research skills, etc. This suggests a modern form of teaching to be born: online teaching. Along with that is constant creativity and innovation in designing teaching materials as well as adjusting the assessment method of lecturers. However, reality shows that, due to many different reasons, the implementation of online teaching and the current teaching material design skills of most lecturers are still limited. The article will focus on analyzing the current situation of implementing online teaching, the causes of slow innovation in testing and assessment activities in the university teaching process. Web-Quest as a Means of Developing Flexible Skills of Future Lecturers in a Higher Educational Institution

The purpose of the study is a scientific justification and experimental verification of the effectiveness of using web-quest technology in the process of forming flexible skills of future lecturers in a higher educational institution.Rapid socio-economic development, informatization of all spheres of human activity determine the need for appropriate changes in the education system. Today, a modern lecturer requires not only basic psychological and pedagogical knowledge and skills, but also communication skills, responsibility, the ability to work in a team, resolve conflicts, and think critically and other flexible skills responsible for efficiency and high productivity, contributing to professional development and self-realization. In this regard, education in higher educational institutions should focus not only on the development of professional special skills (hard skills), but also on the formation of flexible skills (soft skills), since they are universal, updated over time and become increasingly important in the professional activity of a lecturer. There are quite a lot of technologies that contribute to the formation of flexible skills of students, one of which is the innovative technology of the web-quest, which, thanks to its unique form, content, teaching and control methods, structured information content, seems to be as effective as possible. Thus, the problem of purposeful formation of flexible skills among future lecturers, the search for the necessary mechanisms and resources for this, and the study of the potential of the web-quest determine the relevance of the research.Materials and methods: in the course of the study, methods of studying and analyzing psychological, pedagogical and methodological literature were used, summarizing the experience of using web-quests in the educational process of the university. The methodological basis of the study was a set of approaches: personality-oriented, systemic, activity-based, competence-based, interdisciplinary and reflective. Results: the author’s definitions of the concepts “flexible skills of future lecturer” and “web-quest” are presented, the flexible skills of a modern lecturer are characterized, the specifics, structure and methodology of conducting a web-quest, its impact on the purposeful formation of flexible skills are described in detail, an example of a web-quest “The essence of professional competence of a lecturer”, developed and tested in the work with students, is given of the training area 44.03.01 Pedagogical education.The practical significance of the research lies in the fact that its results, as well as the content and information resources of the proposed web-quest, can be used in the practice of higher pedagogical education.

Program Dukungan Pendidikan Integratif bagi Mahasiswa Lamban Belajar melalui Program Adaptive E-Learning FEBUMP

The critical value of inclusive education is the creation of friendly learning for all students, both regular and children with special needs. The campus does not discriminate against students; all students are entitled to the same educational services. For that we need a program that helps learning. The aim is to support the learning success of slow learners, improve the quality and skills of lecturers in the teaching and learning process to support the learning success of slow learners, and provide supporting facilities for academic activities in the form of the FEBUMP Adaptive e-learning program for students to make it easier to understand the material and consult with psychologists. The method used is creating the FEBUMP Adaptive e-learning program, applied to lecturers, psychologists, and students. The results obtained are that lecturers get convenience and understanding in overcoming slow learners; students find it helpful in understanding the material and conducting counseling on the problem of slow learners; teaching and learning activities in the case of slow learners can be handled correctly and adequately without disturbing students who are not slow learners. In conclusion, this program is beneficial in creating a fair and inclusive education system.

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the soft skills of lecturers

Education institutions quickly made the switch to remote teaching and learning because of the COVID-19 pandemic’s extraordinary problems. This study intends to investigate how the pandemic has affected lecturers’ soft skills, which are vital non-technical and interpersonal skills such as efficient communication, teamwork, adaptation, empathy, problem-solving, and leadership. Data were gathered from lecturers who had firsthand experience with the change to remote teaching through a qualitative study methodology that included interviews and focus group discussions. The research shows that lecturers used new tools, modified their teaching methods, and navigated the virtual environment with amazing flexibility and adaptation. Communication skills improved as lecturers used digital tools to interact with students and offer support. With lecturers attending to academic demands and emotional well-being, empathy and student assistance emerged as crucial. Through creative virtual methods, cooperation and teamwork were promoted. To overcome obstacles, problem-solving skills were used. The study advances knowledge about how the pandemic affected lecturers’ soft skills. The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly changed how instructors use their soft skills. Rapid technology advancement, improved communication abilities, adaptability and flexibility, student support and empathy, and teamwork have all been identified as major areas of change. To successfully adapt to changing educational environments and guarantee the delivery of high-quality education, lecturers will need to further develop these soft skills in the future. By accepting these adjustments, lecturers may not only deal with the difficulties caused by the pandemic but also create a future-focused, welcoming learning atmosphere for their students. Future research should focus on long-term effects, quantitative validation of findings, and evaluation of interventions to improve lecturers’ soft skills in distance learning. In light of changing educational environments, such research can promote lecturers’ professional growth and inform pedagogical methods.

INTEGRATING OPEN DISTANCE LEARNING IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS AS A TRANSFORMATIVE SHIFT IN TEACHING AND LEARNING

Background and Purpose: The threat brought about by Coronavirus or Covid-19 had made a huge impact not only on the economic, tourism, and health sectors, but it also hardly hit the education system of the world at large. Specifically, this pandemic crisis has caused higher education institutions (HEIs) to abruptly shift to open distance learning (ODL) as a response to the call for continued education despite the global health threat.
 
 Methodology: Using quantitative approach and purposive sampling that led to soliciting good responses from 320 respondents from both private and public HEIs in Melaka, this study explains the reality, the readiness and willingness of learners and lecturers have experienced in ODL.
 
 Findings: Findings indicate that technology use in ODL teaching and learning offers a lot of opportunities for both learners and lecturers. The instructors and learners perceived that ODL is effective with the use of technology merging the old and the new. Three aspects were indicated from this study namely 1) interaction between learners or among themselves as peers and 2) technical support and 3) pedagogical demands. Nonetheless, there were some challenges faced by both lecturers and learners such as; unreliable internet access, high costs associated with bandwidth, technophobia and inadequate pedagogical skills of online lecturers found from this study too.
 
 Contributions: Thus, it is deemed important to identify and understand learners’ experiences in an online education technology course facilitated through various digital platforms. It is time we accept blended learning if not ODL. Blended learning has grown in use across HEIs to replace traditional classroom learning.

The use of besmart to improve students’ self-discipline in community economy course

The use of e-learning applications in learning needs to consider the potential for improving students’ character. This classroom action research was aimed at investigating the use of Besmart e-learning in improving the students’ self-discipline in the Community Economy course. The participants of this research were 108 students majoring in Management at the Faculty of Economics, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. This study was based on the model by Kemmis and McTaggart, which comprises steps of planning, implementing/acting, observing and evaluating, analyzing, and reflecting. This study was classroom action research. The data were collected in two cycles of the model through questionnaires, observations, interviews, and system monitoring. This study employed triangulation techniques of data source and method to ensure the data validity. The findings show that using e-learning can improve the students’ self-discipline. The students’ self-discipline was reflected in self-learning materials, participation in the discussion forums, and submitting the assignments. Besmart is not only a learning medium but can also increase student self-discipline and participation in learning. The success factor in this research is not only the learning media but also the skills of lecturers and students to optimize the use of this media.

Factors Influencing Student Intention to continue using E-learning Platform Post Covid-19 Pandemic: Case Study of University of Nusa Nipa Indonesia

This study aims to investigate students’ intention to continue using e-learning platforms post the Covid-19 pandemic. This research proposed a theoretical model by adopting the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT 2) theory and developed it using factors derived from student personal traits and lecturer skills in developing interaction in the platform. The model was validated using 466 feedbacks from active students at Nusa Nipa University who had used online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The finding shows that habit and Lecturer interaction significantly directly affect students' continued intentions to use e-learning.

Asymptotic stability of impulsive stochastic switched system with double state-dependent delays and application to neural networks and neural network-based lecture skills assessment of normal students

<abstract><p>This article investigates the stability problem of impulsive stochastic switched systems with double state-dependent delays. In the designed system, unstable and stable impulses are taken into consideration, respectively, and they do not need to function simultaneously with switching behavior. Additionally, two new ideas, i.e., mode-dependent switching density and mode-dependent impulsive density, are developed. Based on the Lyapunov function method and comparison principle, the asymptotic stability criteria for an impulsive stochastic switched system with state-dependent delays are given. Moreover, the application of theoretical results to neural networks and the neural network-based lecture skills assessment of normal students is analyzed. Finally, two numerical examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness and reliability of the theoretical criteria.</p></abstract>

Habits of Mind: A Study in Anticipating Learning Loss at State Universities in Riau Province

Habits of mind a lecturer's is very important so that students can overcome obstacles in learning activities. For approximately two years the implementation of learning is carried out online, so this condition has a negative impact on students and students. One of these impacts is the occurrence of Learning Loss in students. In general, the research that has been carried out has identified research data through the instrument developed by Costa and Kallik which consists of many question indicators. However, the indicators developed by Marzano have not been widely used. These indicators include: Self Regulation, Critical Thinking and Creative Thinking. This research focuses on the Habits of Mind Lecturers of Social Studies Education Department at State Universities in Riau Province in Anticipating Learning Loss. The research conducted is descriptive quantitative research. To analyze the index and the sustainability status of the Habits of Mind Lecturer skills, a Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) analysis approach was used with the help of the RapHoM software (modified Rapfish). The habits of mind skills of lecturers at state universities in Riau Province are classified as quite sustainable. His condition is certainly a warning that the habits of mid skill of a lecturer are needed in order to increase student interest, motivation and achievement through lecturer habits in transmitting positive thinking habits to students. Revitalizing Islamic Education: Professionalism of State Islamic Religious College Lecturers in Welcoming the Industrial Era 4.0

This study focused on three aspects: 1) the professionalism of lecturers in the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FTK) at the State Islamic Religious College (PTKIN) in Aceh in welcoming the industrial revolution 4.0 era; 2) the skills of FTK lecturers at PTKIN in Aceh in using technology for teaching; and 3) strategies to develop the professional competence of FTK lecturers in welcoming the industrial revolution 4.0 era. This research applied a qualitative method with fifty informants from FTK-PTKIN in Aceh. The informants were determined purposefully: two deans, one head of the Department of Teacher Training and Education, six deputy deans, and forty-nine lecturers. Data collection was done through interviews, observations, and documentation, and the data were analyzed through three steps: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. This study revealed that FTK-PTKIN lecturers in Aceh have high professional competence and good skills in using technology for teaching to welcome the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era. The common media used in teaching are Google Classroom, Google Meet, Zoom, and WhatsApp. Moreover, the professional competence of FTK lecturers is developed through the following strategies: doctoral education, technology training, and scholarship provision.

Pelaksanaan Program PDS (Penerjunan Dosen ke Sekolah) sebagai Upaya Kolaborasi LPTK dengan Sekolah Mitra, Penguatan Kompetensi Profesionalisme Dosen Prodi PGSD UPY dan Pemecahan Permasalahan Sekolah Mitra SD Muhammadiyah Wirobrajan 2 Yogyakarta

The purpose of this activity is to 1) approach self-approach between lecturers and partner schools to be able to carry out collaborative activities, 2) equip the lecturers with problem-solving skills in the field, 3) training lecturers to design a lesson that is expected to help solve partner school problems, 4) help solve problems faced by partner schools. The method of carrying out this activity is the discussion method, collaboration between lecturers and school principals and partner teachers and carried out through direct teaching practice in grade third of Muhammadiyah Wirobrajan 3 Elementary School by the PDS implementing lecturer, namely Taufik Muhtarom, M.Pd from Yogyakarta PGRI University. This program is carried out for 3 weeks starting from 10-30 November 2022. The result of this activity is that the implementation of lecturers' deployment to schools is able to improve the collaboration skills of lecturers and partner teachers for solving problems in class directly. The learning model offered by the implementing lecturer as a solution to problem solving in partner classes, namely the CTL learning model and the role playing learning model is able to increase student participation and involvement in learning, increase understanding of learning material and make students more motivated in participating in the learning process in class.

Determinants of Lecturers Assessment Practice in Higher Education in Somalia

This research investigated the determinants of lecturers' assessment practices in higher education institutions in Mogadishu, Somalia. The factors that determined the lecturer’s assessment practice were design, interpretation, application, and administration mechanisms. A quantitative research design was conducted. The questionnaire was used, Cronbach's alpha value is.917. This shows that the scale's internal consistency and reliability for this sample are quite excellent. r =.636, P = 0.000,.05., the findings revealed a significant, favorable, and robust relationship between design and lecturers' assessment practices. Also, the correlation table shows a good connection between assessment, interpretation, application, and lecturers' assessment practice. (Explained) (r =.575, p = 0.000,.05) (R =.516, p =.000, 0.05) there is a strong positive relationship between assessment design, interpretation, and application to lecturers’ assessment practice. I recommend that the administration of public and private higher education institutions focus on in-service training on how to upgrade the skills of lecturers toward assessment practice.

Coaching clinic scientific article writing: Increase the awareness of lecturers through a scientific approach

Compiling scientific papers is one of the efforts that can be made by lecturers in developing their professional competence. By writing scientific papers, a lecturer can develop his writing skills, and develop himself to be able to integrate ideas and present them in a structured manner. This activity was carried out to increase lecturer awareness in writing scientific papers and provide education related to writing scientific articles. Preparation for the activity was carried out on August 28 2021 and the core activity was in the form of a coaching clinic for writing scientific articles and was carried out on September 4, 2021. The main target for this activity is young lecturers who have little experience writing articles. The implementation of this service uses coaching clinics, discussions, and assistance. The results of this dedication show an increase in the ability or skills of lecturers and their understanding of writing scientific articles.

TRAINING FOR THE PREPARATION OF SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES FOR LECTURERS AND STUDENTS AT HIGHER EDUCATION IN BANTEN

Scientific article writing training is very important in improving the skills of students and lecturers in compiling good and correct scientific articles. With this training, it is hoped that students and lecturers can acquire the knowledge and skills needed to face challenges in the academic world, and can gain recognition for the scientific work they produce through publication in accredited national journals and reputable international journals. The purpose of this training is to increase the understanding of students and lecturers in writing good and correct scientific articles and it is hoped that participants will gain knowledge and skills in compiling scientific articles in accordance with standards set by accredited national journals and reputable international journals. The method used in scientific article writing training through zoom meetings with a combination of lecture and practice methods is a very appropriate method. With this method, participants can follow the training material more easily and can immediately practice writing good and correct scientific articles. The participants who took part in the training were approximately 100 people, a large enough number of participants for a scientific article writing training. The results of the service activities carried out were very satisfying, with increased partner knowledge in terms of writing scientific articles. This training can also help students to realize the importance of scientific publications in the context of disseminating knowledge. With scientific publications, students and lecturers can make a real contribution to the academic world and can help improve the quality of education in Indonesia

A Study of Communication Skills among Post Graduate Students in Kolhapur University India

This study was done to find out the performance of student lecturers in Communication Skills at the Department of Education, Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India. The research also had an aim of bringing suggestions and recommendations on how to improve Communication Skills of Students and Lecturers. In order to do this, the researcher used Questionnaire with multiple choice and open-ended questions to collect data in order to answer the questions that this research seeks to answer. The study targeted were student and lecturers of the Department of Education, Shivaji University, Kolhapur and purposive sampling technique used to select thirty students and lecturers. Collected data is analyzed by using percentage data analysis tool.

Competencies of Fashion Design and Technology Lecturers and their effects on Students’ Success at Constructing Ghanaian Traditional Costumes

College and university lecturers, as well as other educators are esteemed as transformational agents to the learners who pass through them. Similarly, Higher National Diploma (HND) fashion design and technology programme is designed to equip fashion design students to be versatile, high calibre personnel in the field of fashion design in both local and foreign costumes. The construction of more foreign costumes over GTCs in the HND fashion design and technology programmes, neglecting the main objective is now the major problem facing the authorities of TUs in Ghana. This study aimed at establishing the competency of lecturers of fashion design programmes and their influence learners’ ability to construct Ghanaian Traditional Costumes (GTC). The study adopted convergent mixed method design. The study was conducted in six out of the ten technical universities (TU) in Ghana: Accra, Kumasi, Sunyani, Cope Coast, Tamale and Ho. Target population was 1265 comprising head of departments (HoDs), lecturers and students. Simple random sampling was used to select six universities from the ten TUs. Purposive sampling was used in sampling 24 lecturers of fashion design including HoDs, and Proportion sampling was used to sample 306 fashion design and technology students. Total sample size was 330. Data collection tools were questionnaires for lecturers and students, Interview guide for HODs and observation checklist on availability of GTCs in the TUs. Both quantitative and qualitative data was gathered in the study. Quantitative data was entered, cleaned and analysed using SPSS 22.0 software. Skills of lecturers of fashion design and technology on construction of GTCs using standard multiple regression. Themes were used to summarise Qualitative data using interpretative and coding techniques. The results showed that more than 75% of the lecturers had masters and PhD and were all trained in fashion related courses, acquired skills from practicing FDT also qualify to lecture programme.

English Oral and Written Receptive Skills of Vocational Lecturers

Reading and listening as receptive skills have been investigated from multiple angles. The current research is a descriptive study aiming to find the correlation between the two receptive skills. In addition, it investigates the strengths and weaknesses in terms of four subskills (finding the main idea, answering stated-detail questions, answering implied-detail questions, and identifying the meaning of the expressions used in an oral or written discourse) performed by the respondents who were grouped as the high achievers and the low achievers. The research findings confirmed a significantly positive correlation between reading and listening skills. In the listening test, the high achievers had strengths in all of the subskills, whereas the low achievers’ performance in all the subskills was below 50%, which implied that they had weaknesses in all of the listening subskills. In the reading test, the high achievers had strengths in all subskills. The low achievers showed strong reading performance in the subskills of finding main ideas and answering stated-detail questions. At the same time, they had weaknesses in the subskills of answering implied-detail questions and identifying the meaning of the expressions used in the written discourse. This result implies that vocabulary is the most important factor to upgrade to anticipate the weakness in the subskills of answering implied-detail questions and identifying the meaning of the expressions used in the written discourse.

FACTORS AFFECTING THE QUALITY OF TEACHING ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE AT ECONOMICS UNIVERSITIES IN HANOI, VIETNAM

This study investigates the factors affecting the teaching of English as the second language for non-English major students at economic universities in Hanoi. The key findings indicate that all the factors which affect the quality of teaching English at economic universities in Hanoi include teaching methods, lecture skills and qualifications, teaching materials, assessment, facility, and English learning attitudes. Specifically, English teaching methods have the strongest impact on the quality of teaching English. Through the results, the researchers propose practical recommendations for administrators, lecturers, and students to improve the quality of teaching English as the second language for non-English major students at economics universities in Hanoi.
