Special Exercises to Develop Some Visual Abilities and Defensive Movement Skills for Players of the Middle Euphrates Education Handball Teams

The purpose of this paper is to preparing special exercises to develop some visual abilities and the skill of defensive movements for the players of the educational teams of the Middle Euphrates in handball, preparing tests for some visual abilities for the players of the educational teams of the Middle Euphrates in handball, and identifying some visual abilities and defensive movement skills of players of the Middle Euphrates handball teams. The research objectives addressed by the researchers are what determine the nature of the method used, so the researchers used the experimental method in the style of two equivalent groups (control and experimental) with pre- and post-tests to suit the research objectives. The research community was determined by handball players for the teams of the Middle Euphrates region's education affiliated to the general education directorates in the governorates, distributed according to the governorates (Karbala, Najaf, Babylon, Muthanna, Diwaniyah), totaling (150) players. The research sample was chosen randomly and represented the players of the Karbala Education team affiliated to the holy Karbala Governorate, numbering (30) players who represent if the goalkeepers were excluded due to the specificity of the exercises, numbering (2) and (4) players were absent from performing the exercises, and the total number of the sample became (24) where they were randomly divided into two equal groups (control and experimental) with (12) players for each group, thus representing the research community, its sample and the percentage. The exploratory sample was 8 players from the Education of Babylon Governorate. One of the most important results reached by the researcher is that: The tests prepared by the researchers gave real results for visual abilities in handball, and the special exercises contributed to developing visual abilities and the skill of various defensive movements better among the members of the experimental group. One of the most important recommendations recommended by the researchers is that: Necessity of using special exercises to develop special visual abilities and the skill of defensive movements that were not studied with the same sample and other samples, and preparing special tests for visual abilities for each game according to the nature of its performance and needs

The Training on the Use of E-Cashier Application for MSMEs of Eltha Kartasura Market Snacks

This Community Service activity aims to develop the knowledge and skills of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Jajan Pasar Eltha Kartasura through e-cashier training. This service partner is one of the MSME players in Kartasura who is engaged in the culinary field. The method used in the implementation of this community service is Participatory Action Research (PAR). The implementation of these activities starts from the diagnosis stage, namely the identification of the main problems that the research subjects have and want to solve or change. The next stage is action planning identified that researchers and practitioners or other stakeholders of the research topic work together to systematically develop steps to overcome the problems that arise. The next stage is taking action with e-cashier training to increase knowledge in expediting the process of buying and selling goods aims to make it easier to record sales transactions. Furthermore, direct evaluation is carried out to find out that the solution provided can solve the problems that occur. The final stage is to identify learning by handing over 1 set of e-cashier application equipment that can assist in making sales transaction notes through the smart cashier application. After the training and mentoring, there was an increase in the knowledge and skills of MSME players in the Eltha Kartasura Market about the importance of making notes using the e-cashier application so that there is no tearing of notes. This can be seen from the comparison before and after using the e-cashier application directly. After using the E-cashier application, it can make it easier for MSME actors to make financial records. In terms of knowledge, MSME actors increase knowledge in financial management. In terms of skills, all buying and selling transactions are recorded properly, making it easier to count incoming and outgoing goods. The results obtained after the community service implementation increased turnover by 5%, which amounted to Rp3,150,000 and production capacity increased by 5% to 420 pcs.

An evaluation of intervention appropriateness from the perspective of parents: A peer-mediated, play-based intervention for children with ADHD.

A peer-mediated, play-based intervention has been developed to address social participation challenges experienced by children with ADHD. To facilitate implementation into clinical practice, interventions should be evaluated for appropriateness to the end-user, as well as effectiveness. Previous research demonstrated the approach is effective for improving children's social play skills. This study aimed to evaluate the appropriateness of the intervention for children with ADHD and their families. Parents of children with ADHD who participated in the play-based intervention were interviewed 1 month after completion. Parents were asked about their perspective of parent and children's experiences of the intervention, the perceived benefits for children and parents, the logistics of participating, and recommended adaptations to the intervention. Interviews were analysed thematically, and themes were mapped to the elements of the adopted definition of appropriateness to understand whether parents supported the appropriateness of the intervention for their families. Consumers were not directly involved in the decisions made about this study. One core theme, 'collaborative efforts', emerged from the data. Major themes comprising the core theme were 'on the same page', 'therapeutic relationship', and 'getting the job done'. Three sub-themes of 'engagement and motivation', 'the effort was worth it for the reward', and 'Rome wasn't built in a day' were nested within the major themes. Parents largely supported the appropriateness of the intervention, indicating it addressed an important goal for their child, participation was a positive experience, and they perceived the intervention to be beneficial. Future adaptions of the intervention are needed to increase its ecological validity and to generalise the strategies to other social environments and playmates, such as peers at school. This study looked at an intervention that uses play with peers to help children with ADHD develop their play skills. The researchers wanted to know if parents thought the intervention was a good fit for their families and if it helped their children. Parents gave an interview a month after the intervention ended. They were asked about their thoughts on the intervention, how it helped their children and themselves, how easy it was to take part, and what changes could be made to make the intervention better. After analysing parents' answers, the researchers found parents mostly agreed that the intervention was a good fit. They said it helped their children to play with their peers, and they had a good time doing it. Parents thought the intervention was helpful, they liked that it was a joint effort between them and the occupational therapist, and they felt it was worth the effort. However, they also suggested some changes. They wanted the intervention to fit into other real-life social situations, such as school, so their children could use the skills they learned in other places. Overall, parents thought the intervention was helpful and suitable for their children and themselves, but some changes might make it more helpful.

An empirical Bayes approach for estimating skill models for professional darts players

Abstract We perform an exploratory data analysis on a data-set for the top 16 professional darts players from the 2019 season. We use this data-set to fit player skill models which can then be used in dynamic zero-sum games (ZSGs) that model real-world matches between players. We propose an empirical Bayesian approach based on the Dirichlet-Multinomial (DM) model that overcomes limitations in the data. Specifically we introduce two DM-based skill models where the first model borrows strength from other darts players and the second model borrows strength from other regions of the dartboard. We find these DM-based models outperform simpler benchmark models with respect to Brier and Spherical scores, both of which are proper scoring rules. We also show in ZSGs settings that the difference between DM-based skill models and the simpler benchmark models is practically significant. Finally, we use our DM-based model to analyze specific situations that arose in real-world darts matches during the 2019 season.

Developing A Piano Teaching Model for Music Majors in Chinese Higher Education and Improving Student's Piano Playing Skills

China's economic and social development, cultural industry progress, and improved living standards have led to a diversified society for piano professionals and applied talents. This study aimed to analyze the piano teaching mode in higher schools. Explore the existing piano teaching modes at home and abroad, and analyze the characteristics, advantages, and shortcomings of different teaching modes and evaluate the new piano teaching mode and verify its effect of improving students' piano playing application ability. The current study clarified the related implications under the initial dimensions for a follow-up particular analysis by examining the syllabi of piano teaching models from five universities' music programs using the Research & Development (R&D) theoretical framework. The study examines and contrasts relevant research on domestic piano instruction models through a survey of the literature. This stage seeks to categorize and condense the findings of previous research, comprehend the theoretical underpinnings and real-world application of applied talent training models both domestically and internationally, and offer a theoretical framework and point of reference for this investigation. This study employs various research tools, including literature analysis, structured questionnaires, observation forms, and checklists, to collect comprehensive data to address the research questions. It explored that teaching methods: at present, China's higher education piano teaching methods are diverse, emphasis on skills training, ignoring the cultivation of music literacy. In the process of teaching, teachers tend to focus on demonstration, and students have fewer opportunities to practice, which leads to the lack of students' innovative ability. The Curriculum: China's higher education piano teaching is based on professional courses, and a small number of elective courses in the curriculum to assist. As a result, the content of the curriculum is relatively single and lacks the cultivation of students' comprehensive ability. The Evaluation system: China's higher education piano teaching is mainly based on performance examination, which overly emphasizes technical indicators and neglects musical expression and creativity. In addition, the evaluation standard is too uniform, making it difficult to meet students' individual needs.

A comparative study to evaluate the performance of the short passing and receiving skills in handball players The youth of Erbil and Sulaymaniyah clubs

There is no doubt that the handball game is one of the sports that develops the level of skillful performance of its players at the level of Iraqi clubs, and the Erbil and Sulaymaniyah clubs are among the clubs that are interested in the game of handball and who have been within the elite clubs for several years in Iraq due to the presence of a broad base of players at levels Young, junior and advanced, In order to identify the most important differences in the level of performance of the handling and handball skills of the young players in the two clubs, the researcher used the descriptive approach using the causal comparison method, and in which special tests were determined to evaluate the performance of the short passing skills and receiving handball of the players. As for the research sample, it consisted of youth players from Erbil and Sulaymaniyah clubs, and their number was (20) players, with (10) players for each club, and the researcher relied on a set of devices and tools for the purpose of conducting tests and obtaining raw grades after conducting the tests approved by the gentlemen. Experts and specialists. After conducting the statistical process by means of the (spss) program, the results showed a convergence of the level in my tests (compatibility and speed of passing, pass-through) between the youth players of Erbil and Sulaymaniyah clubs, and the presence of significant differences in the test (prolonged throwing of the ball) between the players of the youth of the two clubs, and in favor of the youth club players Erbil, and the researchers recommended the necessity of conducting an assessment of the performance level of all basic handball skills, and the necessity of evaluating the performance level of basic handball skills for all youth club players in the region and comparing them with the players of advanced youth clubs in Iraq.

Immediate Effects of Pencil Push-Up Exercise on Visual Accommodation Skills in Amateur Badminton Players: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Background Visual skills are crucial for peak athletic performance, with Visual Accommodation (VA) playing a vital role. However, the immediate effects of interventions on VA in sports remain unclear. Objective To investigate the acute effects of a 10-minute Pencil Push-Up (PPU) exercise on VA skills in amateur badminton players. Methods A two-arm, parallel, randomized controlled trial was conducted with twenty-eight amateur badminton players. Participants were matched by age, duration, and frequency of badminton practice, as well as visual health, and randomly assigned to either a Trained Group (TG) or an untrained group (NT). The TG performed a 10-minute PPU exercise, while the NT rested with closed eyes for the same duration. VA parameters, including Amplitude of Accommodation (AA), Accommodative Facility (AF), and Near Point of Convergence (NPC), were assessed before and after the intervention. Results Significant improvements in AA and AF were observed in the TG from pre- to post-intervention (AA: p < .0001, Cohen's d = 1.68; AF: p < .0001, Cohen's d = 3.10). However, no significant changes were observed in NPC (p= .45, Cohen's d =0.60). Furthermore, the TG exhibited greater improvements in AA and AF compared to the NT at post-intervention (AA: 95%CI= [-2.812 to -0.2314], p = .02; AF: 95%CI= [-8.363 to -3.680], p < .0001). No changes were observed in the NT group. Conclusion A single session of pencil push-up exercise acutely enhanced visual accommodation skills, specifically amplitude of accommodation and accommodative facility, in amateur badminton players. This suggests that visual accommodation training methods like pencil push-ups could improve visual performance in sports. A Deviant Pathway To Respectability: The Enforcer Career Path In Professional Ice Hockey From 1997–2012

ABSTRACT Deviant behavior may be thought of as irrational and compulsive, as permissible only in areas devoid of social control, or as something that needs to be kept hidden from society at large. However, behavior that is labeled as deviant or problematic may offer an alternative and seemingly rational pathway to success within socially respected contexts. Here, a quantitative portrait of such a case is presented: the occurrence of fist-fighting within junior and professional hockey organizations. Analysis shows that fighting in hockey, while frowned upon and debated by many in the media and the public, has served as a pathway to success for less skilled players. While theories of masculinity, honor, and intergroup violence may explain why these fights occur at all, variance in this behavior between individuals is largely explained by an informal division of labor that occurs as less-skilled players seek a way into higher levels of professional hockey. Those who choose to fight more than others are largely responding to a set of incentives within the ecology of their sport, in line with other choice-centered models of deviant behavior. Deviance, paradoxically, offers an alternative but costly pathway to respectability.

Field‐based validation of penalty shooting recommendations: An experiment with elite youth football players

AbstractResearch has suggested many ways in which professional football players can increase their penalty shooting success rate. We set up a field experiment testing these recommendations. We perform the experiment with one of the most successful youth academies in the world. All players are highly skilled, including prospective and current Brazilian youth national players. The players either decide themselves where to shoot or the coach tells them where to shoot. The coach does not reveal if the decision is based on a random allocation or his own choice. The algorithm randomly selects where players must shoot. The results from the experiment show that the best outcome is when players choose where they want to shoot. Coaches and random algorithm have a lower success rate, although following research‐based recommendations. The findings are important as they show that researchers should test their recommendations in the field as they do not necessarily translate into real‐life settings.

Strategy analysis of badminton players using deep learning from IMU and UWB wearables

Badminton is a fast-paced sport that requires a high level of skill and coordination. To improve their skills, players can use activity trackers to monitor different shots and activities. These trackers utilize inertial measurement units (IMUs), which measures acceleration and angular velocity on the rackets, and the ultra-wideband (UWB) sensors, which measure the location of the player. This study first analyzes the use of UWB localization for tracking badminton players on the court and analyzes the location where shots are played. Furthermore, this study focuses on using both IMU at the racket and wrist and UWB sensors to recognize strategies utilized in badminton matches, employing convolutional neural network (CNN) and Long-Short-Term Memory (LSTM) models. The goal is to classify thirteen badminton shots, as well as an extra class that contains non-shot activities. The output of this shot classifier is provided to the strategy recognition model, which can identify four main strategies, with eleven variations in total, alongside an additional class designated for non-strategy instances such as movement or rest intervals. We trained and tested the models on data from six skilled badminton players. The best results were achieved by using both IMU and UWB data. The proposed 2D-CNN achieved a shot classification accuracy of 90.9%, while the proposed LSTM achieved a strategy recognition accuracy of 80%. The results of this study suggest that neural networks can be used to effectively classify badminton shots and strategies to improve the training of badminton players, as well as to analyze match data.

The effects of age and gender and elite levels on perceptual-cognitive skills of adolescent badminton athletes.

This study aimed to examine perceptual-cognitive skills across age, gender and elite levels of badminton adolescent athletes. A total of 57 badminton athletes divided into junior high school athletes (age = 13.36 ± 1.14 years, females = 22, males = 11) and senior high school athletes (age = 16.25 ± 0.84 years, females = 11, males = 13) were evaluated using a cognitive component skills approach. Elite levels were classified as semi-elite (n = 29, score = 3.23) and competitive elite (n = 28, score = 5.84) levels. Each group completed a cognitive test, including an evaluation of their capacity for Corsi block-tapping (CCT) and spatial priming tasks (SPT). No gender effects were found in the perceptual skills of the adolescent players, and the age effect was consistent across gender. For the elite levels, the perceptual-cognitive skills of SPT of reaction time was performed equally in the groups of semi-elite and competitive players, however, in the CCT Span of working-memory (WM), competitive-elite players outperformed semi-elite players. We found that perceptual-cognitive skills of WM play crucial roles in the open-skill sports of badminton. Thus, when developing advanced skills to higher elite levels in adolescent players, perceptual-cognitive skills should be considered.

Longitudinal Investigation of Lateral Asymmetry Reduction: Exploring the Impact of Bilateral Practice on Soccer Skill Development in Young Players

Background: The research on the role of bilateral practice is a topic examined by multiple studies to explore the connection between laterality and soccer performance. Objectives: The purpose of the current investigation was to explore the effects of longitudinal practice on (1) performance asymmetry, (2) age, and (3) the influence of bilateral practice on the lateral asymmetries of soccer skills in young players. Methods: Fifteen right-footed participants participated in three soccer skill tests: Lob pass with right (LPR) and left (LPL) foot; Shooting accuracy with right (SHR) and left (SHL) foot; Ball control with the body with right (BCR) and left (BCL) foot, and by alternate (BCAlt). These tests were repeated at 12 years old (U12) (Test 1: T1), 14 years old (U14) (Test 2: T2), and 15 years old (U15) (Test 3: T3), respectively. Results: The results indicated no impact of longitudinal practice on the reduction of lateral asymmetries concerning lob pass and shooting accuracy across U12, U14, and U15. However, a notable reduction in lateral asymmetries was observed exclusively in ball control with the body by alternance in U15 and U14 compared to U12 (P < 0.01 and P < 0.001, respectively). Conclusions: We showed improvement of performance with both sides. We suggest that extensive bilateral practice is essential to improve the podal performance of soccer skills.

Participants are also invited to practice directly creating an account, uploading products, and optimizing their shop. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' knowledge and skills in digital marketing, as well as an increase in traffic and sales on their marketplace accounts. The Effects of High-Intensity Interval Training on Cognitive and Physical Skills in Basketball and Soccer Players.

As athletes pursue excellence, training techniques continue to advance, making structured physical activity an essential tool for enhancing performance. To optimize athletic performance in modern competitive sports, the balance of physical performance and mental clarity is required. This study seeks to examine the effects of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) on cognitive and physical skills in basketball and soccer players. A 3-week HIIT protocol was incorporated based on the Wingate technique. This study included 10 soccer players and 10 basketball players with an average age of 22.79 ± 1.90 years. Participants performed pre- and post-intervention assessments. Physical proficiency was assessed using 20 m sprint, change-of-direction (COD) and dribbling tests, while cognitive skills were assessed using motion object tracking (MOT), working memory, perceptual load (PL), and attention window (AW) tests. The HIIT intervention significantly improved cognitive performance in particular; noteworthy observations were a 15% improvement in motion object tracking test scores and a 16% increase in working memory test scores for basketball players. The attention window test scores showed a 32% increase, and perceptual load test scores were 31% decreased for soccer players post-intervention. There were significant improvements in physical skills; for example, sprint times were decreased by 6%, and change-of-direction and dribbling times were reduced by 8% and 7%, respectively, indicating improved agility, speed, and ball control abilities. In conclusion, both groups performed significantly better on cognitive and physical skill tests post-HIIT intervention.

Efficacy of a Remote Play-Based Intervention for Children With Prader-Willi Syndrome.

The current study examines the efficacy of an 8-week pretend play intervention targeting social-cognitive abilities in children with Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS), ages 6-9. PWS is a rare disorder associated with various social, emotional, and cognitive challenges linked to pretend play impairments, and for which interventions are sparse. Nineteen children were quasi-randomized to receive the intervention or be part of a waitlist control group. Participants who received the intervention (n = 10) demonstrated significant improvements in various components of pretend play, most notably in organization of play, which may generalize to broader social-cognitive gains. These findings provide evidence of the intervention's efficacy in enhancing pretend play skills and related social-cognitive abilities during this critical period of development for children with PWS.

Differences in hand acceleration and digital reaction time between different skill levels of Counter Strike players

Due to the international prominence that eSports are acquiring, it is necessary to study their effects on human behavior. Specifically, the difference between the motor skills of players with different levels of experience. Therefore, the main objective of this work is to observe whether there are differences in hand accelerations (mouse handling) and digital reaction time between different skill levels. 21 subjects participated and were grouped according to their skill level (Low, Intermediate and Elite levels). The results showed greater hand accelerations in the Elite and Intermediate Skills players than Low-Skill players (p < 0.05). The hand-eye reaction time was lower in the Elite-Skill group than in the Low-Skill group (p = 0.008). Those with a Low-Skill had a higher dots per inch (DPI) than those with Intermediate and Elite Skills (p < 0.05). Elite-Skill players used larger screens than Low-Skill players (p = 0.034). The results suggest that players with better skills have better hand acceleration and shorter hand-eye reaction time.

High school rugby coaches’ knowledge and opinions of concussion in KwaZulu Natal province in South Africa: an ecological cross-sectional study

BackgroundConcussions in Rugby Union are common with an increased risk to adolescent players. Coaches are key to injury prevention and a greater understanding of their knowledge and sentiments may guide future initiatives. There is a lack of data on rugby coaches, especially in South Africa. This study aimed to investigate the knowledge and opinions of high school rugby coaches regarding concussion management.MethodsThis cross-sectional study of 37 high school rugby coaches in South Africa, was conducted via a self-reported questionnaire. Concussion knowledge was scored for correct answers only with closed-question scaling methods to measure the importance of items of concussion management using a graphical rating scale. An attitude scale (Likert) was used to assess self-reported opinions and behaviours. Associations were calculated for participant characteristics and overall concussion injury knowledge.ResultsMore participants showed good overall knowledge of ≥ 75% (n = 22, 59% vs. n = 15, 40%), especially those with greater coaching experience (p = 0.021). Player welfare was perceived more important than player performance (185 vs. 164), with concussion prevention most important (184 of 185). Appealing characteristics of an injury prevention programme were the improvement of player skill (173, SD ± 0.75, mean 4.68), being adaptable (171, ± 0.86, 4.62), and being completed in the warm-up (167, ± 0.93, 4.51). The biggest perceived barriers were duration (138, ± 1.59, mean 3.73), effort (130, ± 1.56, 3.51), compliance and lack of knowledge (both 127, ± 1.68, 3.43).ConclusionThese results support the implementation of ongoing concussion education for rugby coaches and identify areas for promoting awareness and knowledge of concussion injury prevention, identification, and specific management of younger athletes. Appealing characteristics and barriers are highlighted and may allow for improved implementation and adherence to concussion prevention programmes.

The development of early childhood teachers’ sociodramatic and imaginative play skills through a drama-based professional development program

ABSTRACT Our theoretical framework is based on Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development focusing on adults’ involvement in children’s play and we argue that teachers’ involvement is crucial in supporting children’s play skills. Particularly, this study examines early childhood teachers’ (ECTs) sociodramatic and imaginative play skills and their development through a drama professional development program (DPDP). A 13-week DPDP on ECTs’ socio-dramatic and imaginative play skills was designed and implemented. Thirteen in-service ECTs attended, four of whom provided the data for this paper. Data collection for this study includedpractice video recordings and their analysis with the use of an observational tool by the researchers and the participants. The results revealed three socio-dramatic and imaginative play skills that ECTs must have: Role Enactment, Interactive Dialogue and Interactive Dialogue with Role Enactment. These skills and their characteristics, support literature on effective teachers’ involvement, ECTs’ general teaching skills and the principles of improvisation. We propose the ECTs’ Zone of Proximal Action is an adult-led zone, which exemplifies teachers’ potential action in supporting children’s play.

MSME players in the Ngaliyan Kendal urban village area, on average, have not used a combination of Canva and PIXLR applications in creating content to promote their products on social media and marketplaces. The Canva application in maximum use must be paid (pro) so that by combining the combination with the PIXLR application can get maximum results without having to pay (pro). This community service activity aims to provide knowledge to MSME players in the Ngaliyan village area on how to maximize the Canva application with PIXLR to produce good content without having to pay (pro). This community service activity is expected to be able to improve the skills of MSME players so that they can create the right content so that they can minimize costs and improve the performance of both themselves and their businesses. The results of this activity are that MSME players install and operate the Canva and PIXLR applications for every content creation.
