Digital skills in the use of artificial intelligence tools for the formulation of formative research projects from the TECSIS Research Seminar.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has promoted a change in the way research and innovation (R&D) is performed bringing new perspectives, automating time and routine tasks contributing to the generation of knowledge. To take full advantage of the potential of AI, it is proposed to develop strategic digital skills for the use of artificial intelligence tools in the formulation of formative research projects from the TECSIS Research Seminar. The methodology corresponds to a qualitative research with a descriptive analytical approach with a cross-sectional approach in four stages: analysis, design, evaluation and dissemination. The population under study includes the students of the special programs of Computer Engineering and Systems Technology of the University of Caldas. The expected result is the characterization of strategic digital skills of use for the formulation of formative research projects. This project will contribute in the development of a methodological route that exposes in a practical and applied way the strategic digital skills of use of AI tools for the formulation of formative research projects for the special programs of the University.

L’importanza dei masi come luoghi del paesaggio culturale ladino della Val Gardena

Rural architecture, as an integral part of any cultural landscape, reflects the connection between humans and their habitat. The “masi” (farmsteads) of Val Gardena embody this harmony with nature through the use of wood and stone, blending functionality with the surrounding environmental context. These buildings not only symbiotically relate to the terrain, but they also respond to agricultural needs and natural conditions. The construction of “masi” adheres to philosophical principles of order, expressing the “genius loci” of the location. In Val Gardena, two predominant typologies emerge: the “Einhof” and the “Paarhof”, both characterised by the skilful use of natural materials and integration into the landscape. The evolution of “masi” over time reveals functional and organic transformations, showcasing craftsmanship and adaptability to the environment. Wood, a durable and versatile material, is used to form the structural foundation, reflecting a pragmatic approach to design. The interior spaces, such as the kitchen and “stube” (traditional living room), are configured according to functional needs while still maintaining the essence of traditional dwellings. These buildings exhibit an architectural identity oriented towards modernity, offering insights for contemporary architectural language. This essay, accompanied by selected photographs, delves into the peculiarities of Val Gardena’s “masi”, providing a comprehensive analysis of buildings through construction principles, relationships with the landscape, typologies, spatial characteristics, and potential new uses.

ScSNViz: a user-friendly toolset for visualization and analysis of Cell-Specific Expressed SNVs.

Understanding genetic variation at the single-cell level is crucial for insights into cellular heterogeneity, clonal evolution, and gene expression regulation, but there is a scarcity of tools for visualizing and analyzing cell-level genetic variants. We introduce scSNViz, a comprehensive R-based toolset for visualization and analysis of cell-specific expressed Single Nucleotide Variants (sceSNVs) within cell-barcoded single-cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq) data. ScSNViz offers 3D sceSNV visualization capabilities for dimensionally reduced scRNA-seq gene expression data, compatibility with popular scRNA-seq processing tools like Seurat, cell-type classification tools such as SingleR and scType, and trajectory inference computation using Slingshot. Furthermore, scSNViz conducts estimation, summary, and graphical representation of statistical metrics pertaining to sceSNVs distribution and expression across individual cells. It also provides support for the analysis of individual sceSNVs as well as sets comprising multiple expressed sceSNVs of interest. ScSNViz is implemented as user-friendly R-scripts, freely available on https://horvathlab.github.io/NGS/scSNViz , supported by help utilities, and requiring no specialized bioinformatics skills for use.

Sports Pedagogy: Readiness of Cadets to Apply Physical Action in Different Conditions of Service Activity

The purpose of the article is to study the development of applied skills of use of physical force by would-be female officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, taking into ac-count their individual-typological (physiological) features. According to the results of the study the working hypothesis was confirmed which was based on the assumption that the formation of readiness of cadets of higher educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine to apply measures of physical influence in different conditions of service activity will be more effective if the following organizational and pedagogical conditions are introduced: individualization of technical and tactical arsenal of physical influence measures (force) of cadets with regard to their individual-typological (physiological); supplementing the content of cadet training with special exercises (functional complexes) and techniques of service-applied hand-to-hand combat, ensuring the effective performance of tasks as intended in different conditions of service activity; increasing the level of technical and tactical training of cadets in the direction of applying measures of physical influence (force) in different conditions of service activity: increase the efficiency of attacking and defensive actions; increase the volume of attacking and defensive actions; expand the technical arsenal; balance the time of transition from defense to attack; increase the power of "striking actions"; increase the speed of "shock-throwing actions"; increase explosive force; adapt the "Model of force application" to the physiological and individual-typological features of cadets; formation of theory and practical competencies for striking vital points on the opponent's body; change in the teaching and methodological support of the educational component "Special physical training". 110 cadets of two institutions of higher education of the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine took part in the research. In the course of the study a hardware-software complex of registration of striking efforts of martial arts technique and video-computer system of express-analysis of techniques of biomechanical movements of an individual "Katsumoto" were used. Analysis of empirical data showed a positive dynamics of the formation of readiness of female cadets of higher education institutions of the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine to apply measures of physical impact in different conditions of service activity in the EG. It was found that during the experiment significantly decreased the number of cadets EG with a low level of formation on 32-33%, at the same time increased the number of cadets with a high level of formation on 14-16%. The respondents of CG did not change significantly. The validity of the obtained results was confirmed by testing using the χ2 criterion.

Vulnerability, Digital Technologies and International Law: Reflections on Contemporary Migration Flows

Migration, considered a ‘total social fact’, remains one of the most debated topics in contemporary society. Unfortunately, migration is not always a positive experience for everyone. Certain categories of people, such as women, children, persecuted ethnic minorities, and those fleeing conflict zones, widespread violence and natural disasters, are undoubtedly more exposed to its adverse effects. The socially disadvantaged conditions of migrants can also overlap with the risk of exclusion from digital literacy. ‘Digital availability’ is an essential asset for networking through the entire period of migration, which varies according to the departure and destination contexts and skills of use. Vulnerability can be a key concept when it comes to exploring the connection between migration processes and increasing digitisation, with both positive and negative consequences. Despite the frequent use of the term ‘vulnerability’ in political and legal discourse, its normative content is neither always clear nor universally accepted. Often treated as a self-explanatory condition, it is habitually used to distinguish migrants according to specific groups based on precise characteristics – especially refugees or asylum seekers – without specifying how the notion is conceptually understood or defined. The aim of our work is to provide some suggestions about three different concepts of vulnerability (subjective, situational and structural), the impact of the legal concept of vulnerability on migration processes and how situations of vulnerability are sometimes accentuated by the spread of media and social media.

Case Study of Skilful Use of LLM-Based Generative AI in Management of a Hypothetical Business

Now that generative AI technology products are already spreading worldwide and are improving their capabilities very fast, it is high time we examine what it can do to decision making, which is the essence of managing businesses. The present paper has used an innovative methodology where one of the currently available Large Language Model based product, namely ChatGPT, is given a series of questions/prompts to use its own capabilities to give its self-assessment of supporting the different dimensions of managing a business. Multiple conversations illustrated the need for well-structured prompts/questions to get the most out of ChatGPT, otherwise it can get confused and provide illogical response. The quality of mutual learning improves by constructive feedback between the human interlocutor and generative AI. Probing it further with multiple scenarios for a hypothetical mid-sized business has verified and confirmed those self-assessments. The insights and conclusions drawn from those conversations are that skillful use of the LLM-based generative AI products can assist human managers in making better quality decisions at all levels of management in a timely manner. Senior managers of businesses need to begin an effort to test-drive an available LLM-based generative AI product and plan to leverage it in the ongoing management to become a learning organization in the interest of the business.

A Descriptive Study to Assess the Attitude and Skill in Usage of Computer Among Registered Nurses in BMCH General Ward, Chennai

In recent years, the use of computers in the healthcare system has become more important for easy retrieval of medical information. This advancement has a positive impact on patient care among health care providers. Objectives: To assess the level of attitude and skill in use of computer among the nurses, to find the correlation between attitude and skill in use of computer among the nurses, to find out the association between the level of attitude and skill in use of computers with the selected demographic variables. Methodology: An Exploratory Descriptive method was used and the study was conducted in General wards at BMCH, Chennai. 110 registered nurses were selected using convenient sampling technique. 3-point Likert's scale was used to assess the level of attitude and observational checklist for assessing the level of skill in use of computers among registered nurses. Results: The study revealed 68 (62%) had favourable attitude, 31(28%) had most favourable attitude and 11(10%) had unfavourable attitude, 53(48%) had adequate skill, 38(35%) had moderately adequate skill, 19 (17%) had inadequate skill in use of computer. There was a correlation between level of attitude and skill in use of computer at the significant level of p value 0.021. There was a significant association between age and educational qualification with level of attitude and there was a significant association between age, area of work and attended training programme. Conclusion: The study result showed that 62% of registered nurses favours using computers for patient care, 48% possessed adequate skills which revealed a gap of 14%. The study suggested to conduct in-service education and training program to promote the use of computers in patient care. Keywords: Use of computer, Attitude, Skill.

THE IMPORTANCE OF KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT IN A DISTRIBUTION COMPANY. A CASE STUDY BASED ON A DISTRIBUTION COMPANY X BASED IN KRAKOW

The aim of the article is to show that the implementation of skilful knowledge management strategies translates into real successes of modern companies and should be treated as a priority also by companies with a distribution profile, which not infrequently in the practice of their activity do not pay due attention to intangible resources, including, above all, knowledge and its skilful use. This article consists of two parts: theoretical and empirical. In the theoretical part, based on the analysis of the current management literature, the most important issues related to knowledge understood today in terms of market value will be presented. The free market economy operating in Poland forces companies to compete with one another not only in terms of tangible goods, but also in terms of intangible goods, which include knowledge. It is the foundation of intellectual capital. Therefore, its components, the historical aspect of its identification as a market value and selected ways of its management, as well as their influence on the efficiency of market entities, will be briefly presented. This part of the paper will also characterise the Polish distribution company X, based in Kraków, which operates in the installation and construction industry, selected for the study. In the empirical part, which is a case study and based on data analysis methods and interviews, the processes constituting knowledge management in the selected enterprise will be presented. The current state of knowledge management in the selected company will be presented, as well as suggestions for improvements in this area.

The EMPOWER program: a history and guide for increasing diversity using integrated research and education.

The prevalence and pervasive nature of emerging chemicals of concern have created widespread environmental injustice apprehensions in vulnerable communities. To alleviate and address these concerns, identifying, engaging, and training a diverse environmental health research workforce will be critical and necessary steps to combat and prevent the consequences of environmental injustice. While there is an obvious need to enhance diversity in environmental health research, this process is hampered by facets of systemic racism that reduce access to educational resources needed to build interest and knowledge in students and teachers. We present here a historical perspective to offer a guide for building programs and relationships with underserved schools to help overcome limiting factors that have plagued certain public school systems. With the proper training and mentorship, the untapped workforce present within these schools will be empowered to understand and address current and emerging environmental health and safety threats. Through this transformative 8-week high school research program, we will develop well-prepared, ethical researchers committed to scientific inquiry, intensive fieldwork, and collaborative problem solving to address environmental health challenges. Following the four-step risk assessment process, students, teachers, and faculty mentors will work collaboratively to identify toxicants, potential hazards and risks, and environmental disparities in urban neighborhoods, which provides the necessary training to formulate critical thinking skills for use in academic or nonacademic careers.NEW & NOTEWORTHY The Engaging Multidisciplinary Professional Opportunities for Women in Environmental Research (EMPOWER) program is a one-of-a-kind research summer experience for minority female high school students in the state of Georgia. In addition, this program provides high school teachers with hands-on experiences that can be adapted to use in the classrooms. This combination of lab and field research immerses participants in understanding urban environmental exposures and their health effects. The EMPOWER program was established to meet the critical need for increasing diversity in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

STRATEGI DAN TANTANGAN MANAJEMEN TEKNOMEDIA DI LEMBAGA PENDIDIKAN ANAK USIA DINI

Digital learning media management is a crucial skill required by the heads of educational institutions to navigate the digital era. This research aims to depict: (1) the challenges faced by the leaders of Early Childhood Education (PAUD) institutions in Merauke City in managing technomedia in the learning process, and (2) the strategies employed by these leaders to overcome challenges in technomedia management during the learning process. The informants for this study were purposefully sampled from school principals in Merauke City. The primary challenges confronted by school principals in managing digital learning media in Early Childhood Education institutions (PAUD) include the availability of adequate technological resources, the development of teachers' skills in using technology, and the management of student data security and privacy. School principals also need to take into account parental involvement in supporting the use of digital media at home and ensure that technology use remains balanced with the physical and social activities of children. To tackle these challenges, strategies employed by school principals include organizing training and developing teachers' skills in technology use, selecting quality digital learning content, and establishing clear policies and guidelines related to technology use. Additionally, careful monitoring of students' technology use and maintaining a balance between technology use and traditional learning experiences are also emphasized. By implementing these strategies, PAUD school principals can effectively manage digital learning media, enhance the quality of early childhood education, and ensure that technology is used judiciously in the learning process.

Teaching Medical Students to Communicate Risks Like Military Intelligence Analysts.

Communication about health often involves descriptions of risk: the probability or likelihood of an unfavorable outcome. Communicating risk helps individuals make choices about their own health by building understanding of potential outcomes and providing context for the importance of procedures, health interventions, and lifestyle choices. However, medical education in the United States does not provide future physicians with adequate statistical literacy to communicate risk effectively and rarely encourages them to practice communicating risk in pre-clinical years. Risk communication in military intelligence, a field with formalized risk language and training, offers a unique perspective into potential improvements for medical risk communication. With backgrounds in the military, public health, communication, surgery, and medical education, the authors offer the following recommendations to improve risk communication for medical students. (1) Encourage the use of numerical absolute risk when communicating among health practitioners to avoid varied interpretations of what different risk descriptors ("uncommon," "likely," or "low") might mean; (2) build efficient, teachable skills in use of patient-facing risk communication tools like comparative probabilities and visual aids; and (3) practice estimating risk through role-play of risk communication between medical students and standardized patients. By improving risk communication in medical education, future doctors will be better equipped to build trust through open communication and improve the health of the patients and the communities for whom they care.

INTRODUCTION OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES IN THE PROCESS OF TEACHING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE AT THE UNIVERSITY

Background. In this article the authors present a comprehensive review of selected empirical developments on artificial intelligence in education, research on some artificial intelligence technologies and applications, and analyze their potential benefits for the educational process. They also identify the need in the formation of new educational competencies among students, in particular linguo-digital, caused by the modern labor market requirements, and consider the application of the foreign universities experience in relation to the use of artificial intelligence tools in education.
 Purpose. The article aims to identify the potential of artificial intelligence in the formation of digital competencies among students in teaching a foreign language.
 Materials and methods. The research study is based on theoretical and experimental methods along with quantitative evaluation method, to conduct this study.
 Results. The authors focus on the term “linguo-digital competence” as a component of digital competence. Teaching experience demonstrates that multilingual education of students requires digitalization of professional training. It improves their skills in use of artificial technologies in studies of a foreign language, helping to develop professional as well as personal competences.
 Practical implications. The result of the study is recommendations on the methodology for introducing digital technologies into the educational process when teaching a foreign language at a university.

FACILITATING GROWTH VIA INDEPENDENT LEARNING PLANS FOR PSYCHOLOGISTS TREATING OLDER VETERANS WITH CHRONIC ILLNESS

Abstract The VA Geriatric Scholars Program-Psychology Track (GSP) is a national post-licensure geropsychology training program for VA psychologists caring for rural-dwelling older veterans with complex physical, cognitive, and psychological comorbidities. In 2019, GSP developed an advanced workshop model to invest in the continued growth its alumni. The workshop focused on enhancement of geropsychology competencies in treating older veterans with chronic mental and physical illnesses (e.g., PTSD, dementia, diabetes). To facilitate ongoing and individually tailored learning following the workshop, participants developed and executed Independent Learning Plans (ILPs) during a 6-month window with consultation from an experienced geropsychologist. Upon completion, participants submitted final reports and responded to three prompts assessing overall experience, usefulness, and future plans. We examined these qualitative data using a rapid analysis approach with summary templates. Fourteen of 19 participants (73.7%) submitted both final reports and responses to the prompts. All 14 respondents endorsed clinical and/or personal usefulness of the ILPs, with emerging themes including increased confidence, enhanced skills for use with patients with complex needs, and career advancement. Regarding overall experience, most participants noted positive outcomes, including feelings of fulfillment, and noting that ILPs were feasible and learning resources were accessible. A minority (35.7%) identified meaningful barriers most often associated with not having enough time. Future directions included plans to learn new assessment/treatment approaches, read relevant literature, and pursue additional career advancement (e.g., board certification in geropsychology). Overall, our findings suggest ILPs are a viable way to enhance psychologists’ experience and effectiveness in treating older veterans with complex needs.

Stimulation of motor skills through game models in early childhood and elementary school students: systematic review in Indonesia

Background and purpose of the study. The relevance of motor skills for every student since they have benefits and affect the overall development of kids. Several studies have offered data on learning and developing motor abilities in youngsters. The game model's information is extensively created and utilized as a reference to enhance gross motor abilities. As a result, the purpose of this study is to conduct a review of the scientific literature in Indonesia on the stimulation of motor skills in early childhood and primary school students through learning using game models. The Harzing Publish or Perish tool was utilized for the search in this study. A database (Scopus) was utilized to find publications on motor skill development through play-based learning. The search was carried out in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) recommendations. Only five items remained after the exclusion criteria were applied. The findings indicate that the research methods employed in cooperative learning research in Indonesia are various, including quantitative, mixed research (quantitative and qualitative), and development. On average, measuring equipment was utilized to collect data for the study. According to the findings of this review, in the first group, traditional play-based children's learning is capable of optimizing kindergarten children's basic motor development, with a track record of implementing the concept/theoretical basis, activity stages, social systems, reaction principles, support systems, and impact models, and increasing students' basic skills for high motor skills. In the second category, learning structured in the form of games may stimulate children's fine motor and cognitive abilities, as well as strengthen fundamental motor skills and build gross motor skills for use in the learning process. Some shortcomings in the review have been identified, and it is important to continue this study internationally with a literature review or mapping study (bibliometric and scientometric), as well as to conduct research on the use of the game model and its impact. German sport aviation as a reserve of military aviation in the inter-war period

Aviation as a new weapon emerged at the beginning of the 20th century. The event that influenced its development was the course of the First World War. It was not the decisive factor in determining the fate of the war, however, its dynamic development in the final stage of the war could indicate its great importance in the future. The development of military aviation was the domain of the military authorities. The popularisation campaign and the development of appropriate flight training programs were entrusted to the civilian authorities. The establishment of appropriate organisations was needed to effectively engage the public in cooperation. Sport aviation and gliding excelled in preparing young people for service in airborne combat units and transport aviation. Their development in Europe in the inter-war period proceeded in two ways. The first was the creation of organisations by administrative orders, which took place in Germany, Russia and Italy. The second was the skilful use of social initiatives linked to aviation interests, appropriately coordinated by the state and supported by subsidies, as was the case in England and France. The purpose of the establishment of these organisations and activities was to popularise and train aviation in the widest circles of society and to prepare it for a possible airborne threat.

Prime ministerial political leadership and the domestic politics of Brexit: Theresa May and Boris Johnson compared

This article explores and compares the political leadership of two successive British Prime Ministers, Theresa May and Boris Johnson, in their handling of the domestic politics of Brexit. Despite some similar dilemmas at the beginning of their premierships, their leadership delivered very different outcomes. The key argument developed here, using Richard Heffernan’s power resources model, is that the explanation for these outcomes does not only arise from a different political context and circumstances under which each prime minister pursued their Brexit policy. Rather Johnson, unlike May, made skilful use of the power resources at his command. He possessed more personal power resources and drew upon the available institutional power resources more effectively than May. As a result, unlike May, he was able to be predominant in his government’s Brexit policy. While we demonstrate the continued analytical value of Heffernan’s model, we also point to its limitations and suggest how it can be revised.

A simulation workshop to introduce coping skills.

Experiencing clinical catastrophes can result in long-lasting emotional and psychological impacts. In other fields, crisis simulation has been used to train professionals in coping skills. Our workshop combined a simulated case with a clinical debrief and expert-led teaching on coping skills. The '4Rs' mnemonic, Recognise, Reflect, Reframe and Reach-out, describes the key elements. This is grounded in social, cognitive and behavioural theories of stress and coping. All 96 anesthesiology residents from one residency programme participated, in small groups, and a mixed methods analysis was used. The scenario was deemed stressful. The workshop introduced new techniques, with 72/87 (82.75%) reporting new coping skills in use at 1-month follow-up. For many residents, the descriptive language regarding their performance and abilities shifted from critical, negative self-talk to positive and team-focused immediately following the workshop. A striking finding from evaluations at all timepoints was that negative comments were typically self-referencing whereas positive ones referenced colleague support and the team. Combining stress exposure with formal exploration of emotional responses and coping skills teaching in this workshop was feasible, with benefits at 1-month follow-up. This laid the groundwork for a resilience curriculum and wider departmental interest in the topic of coping and stress responses.

Communicative Function of Nonverbal Cues in Hausa Prose Fiction

Fictional writing is goal oriented and those goals can only be achieved through effective communication. In literary communication, the text is the foundation upon which the writer establishes or rather constructs meaning. But, meaning can only be achieved through the skilful use of verbal and nonverbal forms of communication as shown by many scholars (Knapp, Hall & Horgan 2014), (Kendon 1990), (Band ull 2012). Therefore, the use of gestures, postures touch, time, space and distance to define characters and what they do is essential in any fictional writing. This paper studies the communicative impact of nonverbal signals in Hausa prose fiction, with data drawn from the novel Mafarkin Khadija. The data was interpreted based on context. The study shows the ubiquitous nature of nonverbal signals in meaning-making, establishing the fact that, the significance of communication is not in words alone, but rather, in the overall process through the use of verbal and nonverbal repertoire.

Building Capacity for Research Ethics Committees in Uganda.

Timely communication from Research Ethics Committees (REC) to researchers is essential to meet deadlines. We conducted a capacity building program for REC members, REC and research administrators, and researchers from seven RECs in Uganda in order to improve the research regulatory approval cycle. The training was delivered from March 2020 to July 2021. Trainees were evaluated using pre and post-training tests. There was an increase in the average score from 38% to 53% in pre and post-training test respectively for the personal effectiveness and leadership programme for REC and research administrators. There was an increase in the average score of from 53.9% to 70.1% in pre and post-training test respectively for training on emerging and complex study designs. We achieved shift in knowledge and skills in use of the National Research Information Management System. We recommend regular training of REC members and administrators for efficient review of research protocols.

Is There Still a Place for Forceps Delivery in Modern Obstetrics?

Nowadays, we are witnessing a decrease of vaginal instrumental deliveries and continuous increase of caesarean section rate. However, proper identification of possibility of execution, indications for instrumental delivery and their skilful use may improve the broadly understood maternal and neonatal outcomes. The aim of this study is to present prevalence, risk factors, indications and outcomes of forceps deliveries among the patients at Department of Perinatology, Lodz. A retrospective study was conducted at the Department of Perinatology, Medical University of Lodz. The study included forceps deliveries carried out between January 2019 and December 2022. Total number of 147 cases were analysed in terms of indications for forceps delivery and maternal and neonatal outcomes such as vaginal - or cervical - laceration, postpartum haemorrhage, perineal tear, newborn injuries, Apgar score, umbilical cord blood gas analysis, NICU admission and cranial ultrasound scans. The prevalence of forceps delivery was 2.2%. The most common indication for forceps delivery was foetal distress (81.6%). Among mothers, the most frequent complication was vaginal laceration (40.1%). Third-and fourth-degree perineal tears were not noted. Regarding neonatal outcomes, Apgar score ≥ 8 after 1st and 5th minute of life received accordingly 91.2% and 98% of newborns. Only 8.8% experienced severe birth injuries (subperiosteal haematoma, clavicle fracture). Although foetal distress is the most common indication for forceps delivery, the vast majority of newborns were born in good condition and did not require admission to NICU. Taking into consideration high efficacy and low risk of neonatal and maternal complications, forceps should remain in modern obstetrics.
