Magnetostriction of rare-earth iron garnets at low temperatures

Results are given of low-temperature magnetostriction measurements on single crystals of Yb- and Tb-doped yttrium iron garnet. From these data, the stress contribution to the magnetocrystalline anisotropy is calculated.
