With regard to the texture control in commercial Al-sheet products, the evolution of the cube-orientation (001)[100] during deformation and subsequent recrystallization is of particular interest, because this orientation is known to strongly affect sheet formability and mechanical properties. The deformation behavior of two-phase Al-alloys is known to be strongly affected by the presence of second-phase particles. It was the aim of the present study to attain insight into the influence of particles on the evolution of microstructure and texture during rolling of cube-oriented single crystals. Particular emphasis was put on the correlation of the local orientations in the deformation zones around the particles with the matrix orientation. Complementary work on the influence of particles on the microstructure and texture of single crystals with stable rolling texture orientations will be described in a separate paper.
