The radiative behavior of multi-particle states in single self-organized CdSe quantum dots is investigated by cathodoluminescence. Emission of neutral and negatively charged exciton and biexciton states is shown to form similar cascades. Only the neutral exciton state, however, exhibits a fine-structure splitting induced by shape anisotropies. Detailed calculations in the framework of the eight-band k · p model support the identification of charged multi-exciton states.
