In this paper we evaluate the potential of the CMS detector for the measurement of CP violation in the B system at the initial low luminosity of LHC (~1033 cm −2 s −1). The sensitivity to the unitarity triangle angle β obtained from the [Formula: see text] channel is given by δ ( sin 2β) = 0.046, whilst the sensitivity to a from the [Formula: see text] channel is given by δ ( sin 2α) = 0.082. We also discuss the possibilities of observing semi-inclusive B → μ + D(s) final states, to measure [Formula: see text] oscillations and to observe some B baryon modes.
