Impact of foliar spray of nano-Zn and nano-Cu on biochemical characteristics of guava cv. Allahabad Safeda

Foliar spraying of nanoparticles (NPs) improves the absorption of plant nutrient application compared to traditional soil–root application, and it also enhances the yield and quality of fruits. The present study aimed to evaluate the qualitative effects of foliar sprays of two concentrations of nano-zinc and nano-copper (40 ppm, 60 ppm; 20 ppm, 30 ppm respectively), in comparison to ZnSo4 (recommended by, Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana) and control (foliar spray of water) on the guava crop (var. Allahabad Safeda). The experiment was conducted at Lovely Professional University Research farm, Phagwara, Jalandhar (Punjab) by applying a simple randomized block design, with ten treatments applied as T1: control, T2: nano-Zn1, T3: nano-Zn2, T4: nano-Cu1, T5: nano-Cu2, T6: nano-Zn1+ nano-Cu1, T7: nano-Zn1+ nano-Cu2, T8: nano-Zn2 + nano-Cu1, T9: nano-Zn2 + nano-Cu2, T10: ZnSO4 (PAU recommendation) in three replications. The treatments were sprayed two times, first at the flowering stage and second when the fruit reached pea size. The nutrient spray increases the concentration of nutrients in the leaves while also affecting the biochemical parameters. The performance for total soluble solids (9.89°B), total sugars (8.74%), titratable acidity (0.98%), antioxidants (7.49%), firmness (5.71kg/cm2), non-reducing sugars (3.32%), Vitamin-C (268.90mg/100g pulp), pectin content (2.13%), reducing sugars (5.46%), and TSS/acid ratio (10.06) was superior with the application of nano-Zn2 + nano-Cu2 (T9). The application of nano-micronutrients (zinc and copper) in combination is favorable for the quality of guava fruit (Allahabad Safeda).

Dormancy of Macadamia Nut Seeds (Macadamia Integrifolia) by Drying and Soaking Water

Macadamia nut seeds are orthodox seeds that result in a dormancy period, so breaking the seed dormancy period is necessary. This study aims to determine the effect of drying and water immersion on dormancy breaking and macadamia bean seed germination and which drying and water immersion had the best impact on dormancy breaking and macadamia bean seed germination. The research was conducted in the soil laboratory and screen house of the Faculty of Agriculture, Winaya Mukti University, Tanjungsari District, Sumedang Regency, from June to November 2022. The experimental design used was a simple randomized block design (RBD) with a combination of drying and soaking seeds with nine treatment combinations. Each was repeated three times, so there were 27 experimental units. A = P 40oC + PA 45oC, B = P 45oC + PA 50oC, C = P 50oC + PA 55oC, D = P 50oC + PA 45oC, E = P 40oC + PA 50oC, F = P 45oC + PA 55oC, G = P 45oC + PA 45oC, H = P 40oC + PA 55oC, I = P 50oC + PA 50oC. The results showed that drying and soaking in water treatments at different temperatures had no significant effect on seed moisture content, seed cracking percentage, germination percentage, radicle length, and plumula length.

Humate-Silica as an ameliorant to decrease Fe toxicity and increase rice yields on acid sulfate soils

Iron toxicity is a major problem in increasing rice production in acid-sulfate soils. Humate materials and Silica ions can interact with Fe ions to form chelates so that they can decrease Fe toxicity and increase rice yields. This research aimed to study the effect of humate-silica soil on decreasing Fe toxicity and increasing rice yields in acid-sulfate soils. The research employed a simple randomized block design incorporating treatments F0=100% lime, F1=30% humate manufacturer+30% rice husk ash+40% lime, F2=30% water hyacinth humate+30% rice husk ash+40% lime, F3=30% water hyacinth humate+30% rice husk biochar + 40% lime, F4=30% humate manufacturer+30% rice husk biochar+40% lime, and control=without ameliorant. Each treatment was repeated 4 times. Observations of soil characteristics were carried out at the end vegetative stage including pH and Fe, while at the end of the research, observed including panicle length, 100g weight, and grain weight per pot. The findings indicated that F1 was able to increase pH and decrease Fe2+ concentration and wasn’t significantly different from F3. Ameliorant F3 was able to decrease Fe toxicity and increase rice yields. The application of this formula resulted in a decrease in the usage of agricultural lime while enhancing rice productivity in tidal soil.

Impact of Long-term Use of Fertilizers and Manure on Distribution of Soil-inorganic Phosphorus Fractions in a Vertisol

The field experiment was conducted during the kharif season under the AICRP on Long-Term Fertilizer Experiment at the Research Farm, Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, JNKVV, Jabalpur (M.P.), India. The investigation was carried out to assess the distribution of P fractions in Vertisol after the harvesting of the soybean crop. Eight treatments were imposed with four replications in a simple randomized block design. The treatments were applied in combination with different doses of fertilizer viz., T1 (50% NPK), T2 (100% NPK), T3 (150% NPK), T4 (100% N), T5 (100% NP), T6 (100% NPK+FYM), T7 (100% NPK-S), and T8 (control). Through the findings, the soil pH and electrical conductivity (dS m-1) did not show significant changes even after the long-term application of various fertilizer levels compared to their initial values. The treatment with 100% NPK + FYM exhibited the highest organic carbon (g kg-1) content and available N, P, and K (kg ha-1) content over the control. The various forms of phosphorus in the soil were observed in the following order: Ca-P > Fe-P > Al-P > Occluded-P > Saloid-P . The Ca-P content was highest when 100% NPK fertilizer and farmyard manure (FYM) were used together. The analysis showed that the presence of saloid-P significantly influences the availability of phosphorus in Vertisol soil. Based on the current investigation, it is recommended to use integrated nutrient management, which includes both 100% NPK fertilizer and FYM, to prevent phosphorus deficiency in soybean cultivation in Vertisol.

Assessment of Onion (Allium Cepa L.) Genotypes for Horticultural Traits During Kharif Season

The present investigation entitled “Assessment of onion (Allium Cepa L.) genotypes for horticultural traits during kharif season” was conducted at C”-Block farm, Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Kalyani, Nadia, West Bengal during the year 2022- 2023. The experiment was conducted in simple randomized block design (RBD) with seven genotypes and they were randomized in three replications. This Experiment deals with seven different kharif onion genotypes which consist of (viz. DOGR-1627, N-53, Bhima Super, Balwan, Bhima Dark Red, Baswant-780 and Agrifound Dark Red). Through the current investigation the genotype DOGR-1627 was found better than the others in terms of yield (491.49 q-ha), double bulb percentage (2.96 %), neck thickness (5.59 mm) and days taken for maturity (124.67 days) as well as for harvesting (139.00 days). But in terms of quality parameters the genotype Balwan showed maximum Total soluble solids (TSS) of (14.30 ̊ B), Bhima dark red in total sugar percentage (2.47 %), reducing sugar percentage (2.25 %) and the highest polar diameter was recorded from the genotype Basawant-780 (59.57 mm). The genotypes from kharif group could be selected for further improvement and breeding work in future in this particular growing region. Although from the above experiment it may be concluded that in case of Kharif onion, the genotype DOGR-1627 found to be an ideal genotype in respect to marketable yield, neck thickness, double bulb percentage and days taken for maturity.

Study of Physical, Chemical, and Organoleptic Properties of Functional Drink Turkey Berry (Solanum torvum swartz) with the Addition of Butterfly Pea Flower (Clitoria ternatea linn) and Emprit Ginger (Zingiber officinale var. Amarum)

Turkey berry (Solanum torvum Swartz) is a wild plant often found in Indonesia and its usage is still limited. Turkey berry has a high potential as a source of antioxidants, which can be consumed as a functional drink. Ginger and butterfly pea flowers were selected as additional ingredients in composite drinks to enhance the quality of the functional drink in terms of function and sensory characteristics. This study aimed to determine the effects of variations in the concentration of turkey berry, butterfly pea flower, and ginger on the physical, chemical, and organoleptic characteristics. The design method used a Simple Randomized Block Design with four treatment combinations to be analyzed in three repetitions. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to determine the effects of the treatment. The results showed that turkey berry, in combination with ginger and butterfly pea flower, had a significant effect on the physicochemical and organoleptic characteristics, including pH, total phenolic content, total flavonoid content, antioxidants, color, aroma, taste, and preference.

Aplikasi mikroorganisme lokal bonggol pisang pada pertumbuhan dan hasil cabai merah (Capsicum annum L.) Varietas Gada F1

This study aims to determine the dose of banana weevil microorganisms that affect the growth and yield of red chili (Capsicum annum L.). Cultivar Gada F1. This research was conducted in the Bunder Block, Subang District, Subang Regency, Dangdeur Village, West Java Province. This research was conducted in September - December 2022. The experiment was conducted using the experimental method and the design used was a simple randomized block design (RBD) consisting of five treatments and each was repeated five times. Each plot had 6 plant populations planted in polybags and four plant samples, so the total population was 5 x 5 x 6 = 150. The treatment in this experiment consisted of: P1 (100 mL), P2 (125 mL), P3 (150 mL), P4 (175 mL), P5 (200 mL). The parameters observed in this study included: plant height, plant dry weight, fruit diameter, fruit length, fruit number and fruit weight. Dosage of banana weevil microorganisms affects the growth and yield of red chili plants, namely in the parameters: plant height, fruit length, fruit number, and fruit diameter. Dose of 200 mL/ Polybag produces the best amount of fruit.

The Effectiveness of Using NPK Compound Fertilizer on the Growth and Yield of Mustard Plants (Brassica juncea L.)

This study aims to determine the extent to which the effectiveness of using NPK compound fertilizer on the growth and yield of mustard plants. This study used a simple randomized block design (RBD) consisting of eight treatments with three replications and for observation, each treatment was represented by two sample plants. The placement of the treatments in the experimental plots was carried out randomly, the growth and yield variables of the mustard plants observed in this study were the length of the plants, observed at the age of 10 days, 20 days and 30 days after transplanting, the number of leaves were observed at the ages of 10 days, 20 days and 30 days after transplanting and plant wet weight. This was done when the plants were 30 days after transplanting. While the results of the study showed a significant effect on the observation variables of plant length, number of leaves and fresh weight of mustard plants due to the use of NPK compound fertilizer and effective (effective) doses in the use of NPK compound fertilizer during growth and yield of mustard plants tended to be achieved by treatment with doses of NPK compound fertilizer. 250 kg per hectare, although the highest growth and yield tended to be shown in the treatment of 350 kg of NPK compound fertilizer per hectare, followed by the treatment of 300 kg of NPK compound fertilizer per hectare.

Pengaruh Ukuran Biji Kopi Robusta pada Kualitas Citarasa Kopi

Robusta coffee is known for its bitter taste and stronger aroma compared to arabica coffee. Additionally, robusta coffee has a higher caffeine content. Coffee quality is evaluated based on the quality of green coffee beans and the taste of the brewed coffee. A good and delicious coffee taste can be achieved by roasting the coffee beans correctly and using high-quality green coffee beans. This study was conducted to evaluate the taste of quality 1 robusta coffee beans with different sizes - L (7.5 mm in diameter), M (6.5 mm in diameter), and S (5.5 mm in diameter). The experiment was carried out using a simple randomized block design and analyzed using analysis of variance, followed by the LSD test with a 5% significance level. The research was conducted at a coffee processing factory in Satak village, Kediri, East Java in March 2022. The taste testing of the robusta coffee was done using the cupping test method according to the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) standards. The results of the analysis indicate that the taste of quality 1 robusta coffee beans is significantly affected by the size of the beans in terms of fragrance, flavor, balance, sweetness, and overall taste. Based on the cupping coffee quality classification scores, robusta coffee beans 1S, 1M, and 1L scored <75, which means they are of low quality and considered off-grade.

Pengaruh Berbagai Media Tanam Berbasis Limbah Kelapa Sawit terhadap Pertumbuhan Bibit Kelapa Sawit (Elaeis guineensis jacg) Pre Nursery

Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacg.) is the top row of the largest plantation commodities and benefits from various things such as supporting the country's foreign exchange and also absorbing labor. This study aims to determine the effect of various planting media based on palm waste on the growth of pre nursery oil palm seedlings. This study used a simple randomized block design, consisting of 5 treatments which were repeated 3 times and each replicate contained 3 plant samples to obtain 45 polybags of plant samples. Observational data for each parameter were analyzed using the ANOVA test with a significant level of 5%. If there is a significant effect between the treatments, a further test will be carried out with a level of 5%. Parameters observed were plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf area, total fresh weight of roots, total dry weight of roots, and dry weight of roots. The results showed that the T3 treatment gave better results on the variable growth parameters: plant height 20.57 cm, stem diameter 7.53 mm, number of leaves 4.56 and leaf area 122.15 cm2 at 12 WAP observations. The results showed that the T3 treatment gave better results on the variable parameter observations total fresh weight of 11.09 grams, fresh root weight of 3.89 grams, total dry weight of 3.62 grams and root dry weight of 1.18 grams.

Competition Study of Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp) and Bidens pilosa L. Using Replacement Series Approach

Weeds disturb plants through competition or competition that occurs with cultivated plants. Weed competition can reduce crop production by up to 40%, as well as reduce seed quality. The amount of competition between weeds and plants is determined by the density of weeds, the length of time they grow with cultivated plants, and the type of weeds. Thus, it is necessary to increase productivity by considering the presence of weeds that can reduce production. On this basis, it is necessary to conduct research on the competition between cowpea and weeds using the replacement series method. Replacement series is a method used to evaluate competition between species by studying interspecific and intraspecific interactions of plant combinations. This research was carried out in the greenhouse of SEAMEO BIOTROP July – September 2021. This study used a simple randomized block design with a single factor, namely the composition of weeds with 5 treatment levels, namely: P1: 100% weeds. , P2: 75% weeds + 25% cowpeas, P3: 50% weeds + 50% cowpeas, P4: 25% weeds + 75% cowpeas, and P5: 100% cowpeas. The observation parameters are growth parameters represented by plant height variables and yield parameters are represented by dry weight. The results showed that the increasing proportion of weeds was accompanied by a decrease in the dry weight of cowpea. Vice versa. Then, the results of plant height measurements show that the increasing proportion of weeds and plants will be accompanied by a decrease in the height of their competitors. The results of the analysis of RYT values showed that there was competition between weeds and cowpeas at the P3 treatment level: 50% weeds and 50% cowpeas. Meanwhile, in other proportions there is a negative interaction.

PENGARUH KOMBINASI TWEEN 80 DAN SPAN 80 SEBAGAI EMULSIFIER PADA ENKAPSULASI EKSTRAK BUNGA KENIKIR MENGGUNAKAN ENKAPSULAN MALTODEKSTRIN

This study aims to determine the effect of tween 80 and span 80 combination on the characteristics of the kenikir flower dye extract encapsulate and determine the best combination of tween 80 and span 80 to produce kenikir flower dye extract encapsulates. This study is a one-factor experiment using a simple randomized block design with a combination treatment of tween 80 (T) with span 80 (S), to achieve HLB values ??of 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13. Each treatment was carried out three  times to get 18 units. The data obtained were analyzed by analysis of variance and if treatment affects  the observed variables, it was continued with Duncan's Test. The results showed that the combination of tween 80 and span 80 as an emulsifier affected the water content, total carotenoids, surface carotenoids, encapsulation efficiency, brightness level, redness level and yellowness level and had no effect on the yield and solubility of the encapsulated extract of kenikir flower dye extract. Based on the  effectiveness index, the combination of HLB 9 (Twen 80 0.18g and Span 80 0.32g) was the best combination to produce an encapsulate of kenikir flower dye extract with the characteristics of 78.54% yield, 5.57% water content, 90.43% solubility, total carotenoids. 27.59%, surface carotenoids 0.64%, encapsulation efficiency 97.70% with brightness (L*) 35.92, redness (a*) 24.23 and yellowness (b*) 32.48.

Uji Adaptasi Beberapa Varietas Tanaman Bawang Putih (Allium sativum L.) di Dataran Rendah Muaro Jambi

The development of garlic cultivation is currently experiencing a very sharp decline, even some local garlic cultivars are very difficult to find both on farmer's land and in the domestic market. One of the main reasons is the presence of imported garlic whose tuber quality is acknowledged to be better than local garlic bulbs and the price is affordable by consumers. This study aims to test the adaptability of several varieties of lowland garlic in Muaro Jambi. The research was carried out in farmers' gardens located in Mendalo Darat, Jambi Luar Kota from May 2020 to July 2020 with Ultisol soil type and located at an altitude of 0-65 m above sea level. The experiment was arranged in a simple randomized block design (RAK) with garlic varieties as a treatment factor. The varieties treated were: v1 ( lumbu putih from DI Yogyakarta), v2 ( lumbu hijau from Batu Malang), v3 (lumbu kuning from Batu Malang), v4 (sangga sembalun from Sembalun, East Lombok, NTB), v5 (jangkiriah adro from Kerinci-Jambi), and v6 (tawangmangu baru from Tawangmangu, Karanganyar) with 4 replications. The results showed that six local varieties of garlic, namely lumbu putih, lumbu hijau, lumbu kuning, tawamangu baru, sangga sambalun and jangkiriah adro on vegetative growth grew well in Muaro Jambi Regency, Jambi Province. The varieties of lumbu putih and sangga sambalun are able to grow, are bulbous and can form cloves in the lowlands of Muaro Jambi.

Efek Pemberian Pupuk Hayati VP3 yang Diperkaya Trichoderma viride FRP3 terhadap Total Populasi Mikroorganisme Tanah dan Pertumbuhan Tanaman Kedelai (Glycine max (L) Merrill)

Biofertilizer is a living microorganism material and is useful for increasing soil fertility and the production quality of a plant. The VP3 biofertilizer formulation is known to increase the activity of beneficial microorganisms for plant growth. Trichoderma viride is a good microorganism used as a biopesticide. This study was conducted to determine the effect of VP3 and Trichoderma viride FRP3 biofertilizers on the growth of soybean (Glycine max (L) Merrill) and the total population of soil microorganisms. This research was conducted in the greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture and the Halal Center Intedrated Laboratory of Microbiology, Islamic University of Malang. This study used a simple Randomized Block Design (RAK) with 7 treatments with 3 replications. The results of the data analysis using the analysis of variance with the F test with a significance level of 5%, if there was a significant effect between treatments, it was continued with the BNT 5% if there was a significant effect. The results showed that treatment N had the highest average yield for soybean plant growth.

Formulasi Limbah Cangkang Telur Ayam Ras Dengan Kompos Limbah Pasar untuk Peningkatan Hasil Sawi Hijau (Brassica juncea L.)

The formulation of chicken eggshell waste with market waste compost to increase the yield of green mustard (Brassica juncea L.). Aims to find the best and environmentally friendly organic fertilizer formula to increase the yield of green mustard and improve some soil chemical properties. This research is a pot experiment in a greenhouse, using a simple randomized block design consisting of 7 combinations. Fertilizer formulas that were tried were: F0 (without treatment), F1 = (100 kg of shell + 10 tonnes of compost), F2 = (200 kg of shell + 8 tonnes of compost), F3 = (300 kg of shell + 6 tonnes of compost), F4 = (400 kg of shell + 4 tons of compost), F5 = (500 kg of shells + 2 tons of compost), F6 = (600 kg of shells + 0 tons of compost), and each treatment was repeated 4 times. The parameters observed included: maximum plant height (cm), fresh plant weight at harvest, oven dry plant weight, soil pH, C-organic content, CEC and soil Ca content at harvest. The data were analyzed statistically, tested for variance. If the effect of the treatment had significant, then continued with the 5 % Duncans test. The results of this study indicate that the treatment has a significant effect on plant height growth, fresh weight and oven dry weight of plants, as well as changes in soil chemical properties such as: C-organic, soil CEC, and soil Ca content. The fresh plant weight was obtained in treatment F2 (9.55 g), followed by F3 (9.37 g), and F1 (9.18 g) per pot. While the highest CEC was obtained in the F2 treatment (36.31 me 100 g-1) with a soil Ca content of 7.52 me 100 g-1. The best fertilizer formula from this study was found in the F2 treatment.

A Study of Growth Rate and Seed Yield in Ocimum basilicum Germplasms

The present field experiment was conducted at department of Plantation, Spices, Medicinal and Aromatic Crops, College of Horticulture, Mandsaur in simple Randomized Block Design during 2019-20. This investigation was carried out with twenty germplasms obtained from ICAR-AICRP on MAP, college of Horticulture, Mandsaur. The analysis of variance revealed significant difference in all the growth parameters among the germplasms. However, G19 IC-0622541 recorded maximum leaf area (244.50, 1297.09, 4977.09, 7492.67 and 11461.17 cm2 plant-1), leaf area index (0.321, 1.307, 3.425 and 3.949) and leaf area duration (25.69, 104.57, 273.97 and 315.90 cm2 day-1) during all the growth intervals. While, crop growth rate (0.060, 0.422 g cm-2 day-1) and relative growth rate (0.052, 0.117 g g-1 day-1) were higher till 120 days after transplanting in G19 IC-0622541 but in later stages to harvest G11 IC-0622533 was superior in crop growth rate (1.896, 0.340 g cm-2 day-1) and relative growth rate (0.152, 0.108 g g-1 day-1). G14 IC-0622536 had maximum seed yield (29.57 g plant-1) among the germplasms.

Pengaruh Lama Perendaman (Soaking) Terhadap Karakteristik Fisik-Sensoris Udang Vannamei Beku Jenis Peeled and Deveined

This research aims to determine the long effects of soaking on the physical-sensory characteristics of frozen vannamei shrimp types PD (Peeled and Deveined) produced. This research was conducted at PT Istana Cipta Sembada Banyuwangi, using a simple Randomized Block Design research design with four treatments and two groups based on different research times. Soaking shrimps use a solution formula that has been determined by the company, consisting of turbo solution (non-phosphate) and STPP (phosphate). Four treatments of immersion time included P1 (6 hours), P2 (12 hours), P3 (18 hours), and P4 (24 hours). The test parameters observed were net recovery value, step loss, drip loss, cooking loss, and organoleptic (appearance, smell, taste, texture). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) for parametric variables, followed by a DMRT follow-up test at a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). In addition, the organoleptic value was obtained from the average organoleptic score of 5 panelists (2 trained panelists and three untrained panelists). The results showed that the soaking time did not have a significant effect (p > 0.05) on the observed physical-sensory quality values.

Pengaruh Rasio Campuran Surfaktan dan Minyak Atsiri Jahe (Zingiber Officinale Var. Amarum) terhadap Karakteristik Mikroemulsi yang Dihasilkan

This study aims to determine the effect of the mixture ratio of surfactant and ginger essential oil on the characteristics of the resulting microemulsion and determine the best ratio of surfactant and ginger essential oil mixture to obtain the best microemulsion characteristics. This experiment used a simple randomized block design (RAK) with a mixture ratio of surfactant and ginger essential oil: 100:0; 98:2; 96:4; 94:6; 92:8; 90:10; 88:12; 86:14; 84:16; 82:18. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance and continued with the BNJ test. The best treatment was the highest ratio of ginger essential oil which still formed microemulsion. The microemulsion with the best ratio was tested for stability against pH and dilution during 8 weeks of storage with observations every 2 weeks. Data were analyzed using linear regression to determine the stability of ginger essential oil microemulsion. The results showed that the ratio of the mixture of surfactants and ginger essential oil had an effect on the characteristics of the resulting microemulsion. The ratio of surfactant and ginger essential oil 96:4 is the best treatment for making ginger essential oil microemulsion with the characteristics of having a transparent microemulsion appearance, turbidity index values before and after centrifugation of 0.225±0.011% and 0.294±0.008% and having a particle size of 12, 5±5.0 nm, the largest droplet size was 11 nm, and was stable for 8 weeks of storage.
