Real-Time Collaborative Programming in Undergraduate Education: A Comprehensive Empirical Analysis of Its Impact on Knowledge, Behaviors, and Attitudes

Real-time collaborative programming (RCP), which allows multiple programmers to work concurrently on the same codebase with changes instantly visible to all participants, has garnered considerable popularity in higher education. Despite this trend, little work has rigorously examined how undergraduates engage in collaborative programming when using RCP. This study utilized a quasi-experimental design to investigate the impact of RCP on undergraduates’ programming knowledge and skills, behaviors, and attitudes toward collaboration. Eighty-two participants were randomly assigned to either the RCP group or the Traditional Collaborative Programming (TCP) group. The data analysis yielded noteworthy findings. First, RCP significantly improved learners’ problem-solving skills and led to higher knowledge test scores compared to TCP. Second, there were no significant differences in attitudes toward collaboration between the two groups. Third, analysis of programming behaviors indicated that the RCP group exhibited more efficient coding practices, including producing a greater volume of code and executing it more successfully. Additionally, the RCP group’s code-testing activities were predominantly concentrated at the first half of the class sessions. Based on the empirical research results, three major pedagogical implications were proposed. These findings highlight the benefits of integrating RCP into programming education and suggest avenues for future research into collaborative learning dynamics.

Attitudes towards assistive technology among teachers working in special education and rehabilitation centres in Turkey

AbstractThis quantitative study used a survey model to examine the attitudes of teachers working in special education and rehabilitation centres (SERCs) towards assistive technology (AT). The sample consisted of 224 teachers working in 45 SERCs in Turkey. The Attitude Towards Assistive Technologies Scale (Aslan & Kaan, 2017) and Personal Information form were used for data collection, and data were analysed using descriptive statistics. The results found that the teachers had positive attitudes towards AT, with no difference in attitude according to gender. However, there were statistically significant differences in attitudes towards AT based on participation in in‐service training and professional seniority. The findings revealed that the AT training for teachers working in SERCs is limited and more in‐service training opportunities are needed.

Examining impact of menstrual cup distribution programming on attitudes about menstruation

This study seeks to use a data science approach to explore the social impact of the CampusCup program on the attitudes about menstruation by analyzing differences between students who participate in CampusCup and those who do. The study found a statistically significant difference in attitudes about menstruation among individuals who participated in the CampusCup program and those who do not use menstrual cups. This study also found that in addition to menstrual cup usage, functionality appreciation, knowledge about menstrual health, and perceived university support for menstruators are all significant factors in the prediction of attitudes about menstruation.

Residents’ place attachment and tourist sexual behaviour in a European coastal tourist destination

PurposeDespite extensive research into residents’ attitudes towards tourist behaviour, little has been explored about the extent to which visitors’ practices contribute to the formation of residents’ bonds with their place of residence, which is also a tourist destination. Therefore, this research aims to determine how residents’ perception of tourist sexual behaviour affects their engagement with the urban environment and the image of the city and tourist destination in which they live. To structure and interpret the various attitudes of the residents surveyed, the authors used a conceptual framework based on identity process theory (IPT) in relation to residents’ attitudes and the impact of a particular dimension of tourist behaviour – their sexual practices – on their perceived connection to their place of residence.Design/methodology/approachA questionnaire was administered to a sample of 457 residents in Salou to collect data regarding their assessments of the sexual behaviour of tourists in their community. A cluster analysis was used to classify residents according to their attitudes and stances towards the different sexual practices of visitors and their evaluation of the importance of those practices for current and future tourism at the destination. Finally, an analysis of variance was performed to compare significant differences in attitudes towards tourist behaviour and the attachment to Salou among the different segments of residents identified.FindingsThe study identified four groups of residents classified by their attitudes towards tourist sexual behaviour: permissive bystanders, supportive expectants, ambivalent pragmatics and opposed rejectors. Two attitudinal components explain the differences between the groups: tolerance and personal interest, which are associated with how residents construct their bond with Salou in terms of place attachment (PA). These results align well with IPT, as they highlight processes of assimilation, evaluation and the contribution of symbolic significance to the place of residence, mediated by the perception of tourist sexual behaviour.Practical implicationsSome practical recommendations are offered to tourist destination administrations regarding the differences among residents’ attitudes towards tourist behaviour and PA. The findings can serve as a valuable tool for designing tourism policies aimed at selecting markets, as well as for marketing and promoting tourist destinations.Originality/valueThe originality of this study lies in that it considers the role of tourist sexual behaviour as a compositional element of the identity of the place – a tourist destination – where residents live, providing new empirical data on an under-researched academic issue. This article attempts to contribute to a critical perspective by conceptualising and introducing new elements for understanding the identity, attraction and sexuality of tourist sites. The study also connects with the urban analysis of tourist destinations, incorporating the role of sex into the social construction of the tourist city, the creation of identity and image and the attribution of symbolic meaning to destination settings.

Udon Thani Primary Educational Service Area Office 3. 2) Compare educational institution administration based on good governance principles for administrators. The Udon Thani Primary Educational Service Area Office 3 is responsible for classifying educational levels. Work experience and size of the educational institution. 3) Research guidelines for developing educational institution administration based on the principles of good governance for educational institution administrators. Udon Thani Primary Educational Service Area Office 3. Methodology: This study used a sample of 341 school administrators and teachers. The sample size was determined using Krejci and Morgan's table and randomly assigned to groups. The research tool was a 5-point rating scale questionnaire. The consistency index ranged between 0.80 and 1.00, and the overall reliability of the questionnaire was 0.87. Statistics used for data analysis include frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, T-value, and F-value tests. Results: The study's findings revealed that: (1) Educational institution administrators apply good governance principles. Under the jurisdiction of the Udon Thani Primary Educational Service Area Office 3, the overall level is high. (2) Comparing opinions on school administration among administrators based on good governance principles. Udon Thani Primary Educational Service Area Office Area 3 is responsible for categorizing students by educational level. Executives must adhere to the principle of innocence, which requires a diagnosis. Order that work be completed with honesty, that is, with intention and pure, transparent thoughts. Use information systems that can be verified at any time. 4) The principle of participation requires administrators to allow those with a stake in the provision of education, such as teachers, students, parents, and members of the community, to participate in educational projects and activities held throughout the academic year in the form of committees. 5) The principle of responsibility requires executives to take responsibility for their duties and results in relation to the goals they have set. That responsibility should be on a level that meets public expectations. 6) The principle of value for money applies to the management and utilization of available resources. Limited to provide the greatest benefit to the public. By encouraging Thai people to be frugal and make good use of their resources. Create high-quality products and services capable of competing on a global scale while also ensuring the sustainability of natural resources. Conclusion: The study found that educational institution administration under Udon Thani Primary Educational Service Area Office 3 adheres to good governance principles. Furthermore, there are no significant differences in attitudes toward governance-based school administration across educational levels, work experiences, or school sizes. The promotion of good governance in these institutions emphasizes six key principles: rule of law, morality, transparency, participation, responsibility, and value for money, all of which aim to improve educational effectiveness and accountability.

A Theory of Food Exploration with Gender Differences: Childhood Eating Habits and Implicit Food Attitudes.

The growing interest in nutritional psychology has sparked explorations into how eating habits impact one's emotional, cognitive, and physical health. The Theory of Food (ToF) posits that childhood eating patterns shape food choices in adulthood, influenced by cognitive and associative representations formed early in life. This study explores the relationship between specific childhood eating habits-fruit and snack consumption-and implicit attitudes toward these food groups in adulthood. It also investigates whether this relationship differs by gender. One hundred and nineteen participants completed a recall questionnaire about their childhood eating habits and an Implicit Association Test (IAT) to assess implicit attitudes toward food groups. The primary hypotheses were that greater fruit consumption in childhood would lead to more positive attitudes toward fruits, and higher snack consumption would result in more favourable attitudes toward snacks. The results did not support the initial hypotheses, indicating no direct relationship between the consumption of fruits or snacks in childhood and implicit attitudes in adulthood. However, further analyses revealed a significant difference in implicit attitudes toward fruits below versus high childhood fruit consumption participation, particularly among women. These findings highlight the complexity of the relationship between childhood eating habits and implicit food attitudes. While no direct associations were found for the overall sample, the significant differences in attitudes based on childhood fruit consumption in women suggest gender-specific patterns. These results emphasize the need for further research to unravel the intricate connections between early eating behaviours and later food attitudes.

Evaluating the Effect of Scenario-Based Learning on the Knowledge, Attitude, and Perception of Nursing and Midwifery Students about Patient Safety.

Patient safety is the most important priority in the healthcare system. Medical universities always attempt to find innovative and more effective educational methods to improve the students' abilities for clinical decision-making and quality and safe care. Thus, this study was designed to evaluate the effect of scenario-based learning on the knowledge, attitude, and perception of nursing students about patient safety. This quasi-experimental study was conducted between September 2023 and January 2024. The study sample comprised 78 nursing and midwifery students from the fourth and fifth semesters of their bachelor's degrees, each of whom was systematically reviewed. The participants were allocated to the intervention (n=43) and control groups (n=35) randomly, using simple randomization. The educational content was presented via scenario-based learning for participants in the intervention group, while it was presented through lecture and discussion in the control group. The questionnaire was standardized and structured, and its validity and reliability were assessed. Data gathering was performed one month after the intervention using a knowledge, attitude, and practice questionnaire. Data were analyzed in SPSS software version 16 using descriptive statistical methods and inferential tests, including the chi-square test, independent T-test, paired T-test, and ANCOVA. The study findings indicated that there were no significant differences in attitude (P=0.152) and perception (P0.264=) scores between the intervention and control groups before the intervention. However, after the intervention, a significant difference was observed (p<0.001). [Knowledge 14.97±3.70 vs. 19.37±3.31), attitude (31.74±5.38 vs. 34.62±9.59), perception (7.51 ± 35.60± vs.38.95±8.21)]. Scenario-based learning can be a more effective way to teach nursing and midwifery students about patient safety. Thus, researchers recommend that this educational method should be used by nursing and midwifery instructors to improve the students' ability to provide safer care for patients.

TEACHERS' ATTITUDES &amp; BARRIERS TO IMPLEMENTING CLIMATE CHANGE EDUCATION IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS

This study aimed to investigate the teachers’ attitudes toward incorporating climate change education in secondary schools. It was a descriptive study with quantitative research design. Two hundred secondary school teachers were selected through a stratified sampling technique. For data collection, a five-point self-developed Likert scale was used. Data was analyzed over SPSS 20. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used. It was found that most of the participants agreed about the importance of climate change in education, but they face barriers to implementation. The main challenges found were insufficient resources, training, and a crowded curriculum. The professional development participation particularly anticipated positive attitudes towards the climate change education. There was no significant difference in attitude towards the climate change based upon gender. A significant association was found between the subject taught and attitude towards climate change education. Findings highlight the need for targeted support, including improved resources, training, and curriculum integration, to enhance teachers' capacity and confidence in delivering climate change education.

Knowledge and Attitude of General Dentists, Senior Dental Students, and Orthodontic Residents Toward Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

The main objective of this study was to compare the knowledge and attitude of general dentists, senior dental students, and orthodontic residents toward obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). A questionnaire was designed and administered among 73 senior dental students, 84 general dentists, and 50 orthodontic residents. The questionnaire asked for demographic information of the participants and assessed their knowledge and attitude toward OSA. The validity and reliability of the questionnaire were confirmed by experts. Data were analyzed by the Kruskal-Wallis and Bonferroni tests using SPSS (α = 0.05). The mean knowledge scores of general dentists and senior dental students were significantly lower than those of orthodontic residents (p < 0.001). However, there was no significant difference in the knowledge score of senior dental students and general dentists (p = 1). The mean knowledge score was significantly higher in dentists with 1-3 years of professional clinical experience (p = 0.02). The knowledge score was the highest in dentists working in private clinics followed by private offices and public clinics. The mean attitude score was the highest in orthodontic residents followed by general dentists and dental students. There was no significant difference in attitude based on the attended university, age, or time of graduation. According to the results, general dentists had insufficient knowledge about OSA, which could result in under-diagnosis or misdiagnosis of patients with OSA. This finding highlights the need for further education and training for dentists to properly identify and refer OSA patients to orthodontists or sleep specialists.

Social workers’ educational level and attitudes toward child participation in cases regarding children’s contact with birth parents – the case of Norway

ABSTRACT Previous international research indicates that social workers may lack the competence to comfortably involve children in child protection processes. Implementation of stricter competence requirements for child welfare staff has been discussed to address shortcomings in child welfare practice. In Norway, this implementation is scheduled for 2031, and subject to ongoing discussion. Through multivariate robust linear regression analysis of data collected in five Norwegian urban settlements (n = 135), this study explored the association between social workers educational level and attitudes toward child participation in cases concerning contact between children in out-of-home care and their birth parents. The results indicate a significant difference in attitudes toward children’s involvement in cases concerning contact with birth parents when comparing social workers with master’s degrees to those with bachelor’s degrees, whereas social workers with master’s degrees exhibit more positive attitudes. Social workers are generally found to have positive attitudes toward participation; however, the findings indicate concerns regarding participation in cases related to contact, particularly due to potential loyalty conflicts that might cause stress to the child.

Attitudes of the General Public towards Corporate Social Responsibility in Nepal: The Influence of Gender and Generation

Background: Despite the increasing concerns about corporate social responsibility (CSR) among academicians and corporate managers, there is a lack of studies regarding the general public's attitudes towards CSR in Nepal. No previous studies in the Nepalese context have examined the influence of demographic factors, including gender and generation, on attitudes toward CSR. Objectives: The paper aims to identify the general public's attitudes towards CSR in Nepal and examine the differences in attitudes toward CSR by gender and generation. Methods: The study employed a questionnaire survey method by taking a sample of 212 general public, including males and females from Generation X, Generation Y, and Generation Z. Descriptive statistics, one-way-ANOVA, and t-tests were used to analyse the collected data. Results: Although the general public of Nepal demonstrates above-average agreement on the four different business responsibilities towards society, they believe that the philanthropic responsibility of business is most important, followed by legal, economic, and ethical responsibilities. The t-tests and One-Way ANOVA tests show no statistically significant differences in attitudes toward CSR based on gender and generation, indicating that the demographic factors do not significantly influence participants' attitudes towards economic, legal, ethical, and philanthropic responsibilities of business towards society. Conclusion: The results show that Nepal's general public perceives philanthropic responsibilities as the most important. The findings also indicate that gender and generation do not influence people's attitudes towards CSR. Implications: The results suggest that business organisations in Nepal should consider all economic, legal, ethical, and philanthropic responsibilities while designing and implementing CSR strategies to get favourable evaluations of their CSR practices from the general public regardless of gender and generation. Attitude Towards Artificial Intelligence and Tech Anxiety Among Working Professionals in Metropolitan Cities

Our attitudes towards Artificial Intelligence (AI) and our worries about technology are more relevant than ever in the modern world. Professionals in urban areas are at the forefront of the technological transition as AI technologies are progressively incorporated into various facets of professional life, from AIdriven decision-making tools to automated processes. This study investigated the relationship between attitudes towards Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Tech Anxiety among urban millennials. A quantitative research method was employed, utilizing the General Attitude Towards Artificial Intelligence Scale and the Attitude to Abbreviated Technology Anxiety Scale. A sample of 150 responses, predominantly from IT professionals and educators in metropolitan areas, was collected and analyzed. The findings revealed that there was no significant relationship between positive and negative attitudes towards AI and Tech Anxiety among urban millennials. Additionally, no significant differences were found in attitudes towards AI and Tech Anxiety based on profession and age. An interesting observation was made regarding age groups within the urban millennial demographic. While there was no significant difference in attitudes towards AI and Tech Anxiety between younger (25 to 30 years old) and older (31 to 35 years old) participants, it was noted that Tech Anxiety levels were slightly higher among individuals aged between 31 to 35 than 25-30.

Attitude of Teachers Towards the Use of LMS for Teaching and Learning in Secondary Schools in Delta State

This research investigated teachers' perspectives on utilizing Learning Management Systems (LMS) for educational purposes in secondary schools in Delta State. The study was guided by one research question and a null hypothesis, employing a descriptive ex-post facto research design. The total population of the study consisted of 10,764 secondary school teachers in Delta State, with a sample size of 370 teachers selected using proportionate stratified and convenience sampling techniques. Data collection was done through a validated questionnaire endorsed by experts in Guidance and Counselling and Measurement and Evaluation fields. The instrument demonstrated high reliability with a Cronbach alpha coefficient of 0.84. The research question was addressed using mean and standard deviation analysis, while the hypothesis was tested using an independent samples t-test at a significance level of 0.05. Statistical analysis was conducted using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26. Results indicated that teachers exhibited a positive attitude towards LMS use in teaching, and there was no significant difference in attitude between male and female teachers in Delta State's secondary schools. The study recommended that more training and support should be provided to teachers on how to use LMS effectively.

Embracing Urban Micromobility: A Comparative Study of E-Scooter Adoption in Washington, D.C., Miami, and Los Angeles

E-scooters have emerged as a popular micromobility option for short trips, with many cities embracing shared e-scooters to enhance convenience for travelers and reduce reliance on automobiles. Despite their rising popularity, there is a lack of clear understanding of how user preferences and adoption practices vary by location. This study aims to explore user and non-user attitudes towards e-scooter use in diverse urban settings. A meta-analysis of data from three surveys (N = 1197) conducted in Washington, D.C., Miami, FL, and Los Angeles, CA, was performed to compare e-scooter users and non-user profiles, mode choice factors, and attitudes and preferences towards e-scooter use. Additionally, machine learning (ML) and SHAP (SHapley Additive exPlanations) analysis were utilized to identify influential factors in predicting e-scooter use in each city. The results reveal that the majority of e-scooter users are 25 to 39 of age, male, with higher income and a bachelor’s degree, and 92% possess a driver’s license. Significant differences in attitudes between e-scooter users and non-users highlight the complexity of perceptions towards e-scooter usage. The ML model indicates that employment status negatively impacts the prediction of e-scooter users, while factors such as living without a car and using non-motorized modes positively influence e-scooter use. Educational background is a significant e-scooter mode choice factor in Washington, D.C. and Miami, whereas attitudinal questions on car and technology usage are influential in Los Angeles. These findings provide valuable insights into the factors shaping e-scooter adoption, informing urban transportation planning and policymaking and enhancing understanding of shared micromobility and its impact on urban mobility.

Examining the Relationship between International Sports Organizations and Sports Awareness

The focus of this study is to look into the relationship between international sports organizations and sports awareness, taking into account factors such as gender, education level, individual engagement with sports, and family involvement. The research study group comprised 168 individuals, 77 female and 91 male, who were picked utilizing an easily available selection technique. The study used a personal information form developed by the researcher, an Attitude Scale towards International Sports Organizations, and a Sports Awareness Scale. The data was descriptively evaluated using the independent samples T-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson Correlation analysis, and SPSS 25.0 software. The t-test results revealed a significant difference in attitudes towards sports awareness based on gender (p&amp;lt;.05). One-way ANOVA analysis revealed substantial variations in attitudes towards international sports organizations and sports awareness based on education level, relationship with sports, and family interest in sports (p&amp;lt;.05). The correlation analysis used to explore the relationship between the participants' opinions towards international sports organizations and their degrees of sports awareness found a high positive correlation. According to the study's conclusions, it is necessary to host more international sports organizations and conduct research to raise public awareness in order to create sports consciousness.

An Indonesian-version of the short attitude toward mathematics inventory: a voice from pre-service chemistry teacher

&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;This study aimed to examine the validity of the Indonesian version of the short attitude toward mathematics inventory (ATMI). The adapted inventory was also used for further analysis to explore mathematics attitude of pre-service chemistry teachers across gender. The original ATMI was translated into Bahasa and distributed to 328 participants via the online survey. After preliminary checking for multivariate outliers, all the data were used to analyze the construct validity of structural model using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Furthermore, multigroup analysis with structured mean modelling was conducted to explore the gender effect toward mathematics attitude. All item means, standard deviations and correlation matrix were also explored. The result found that the short form supported the four-factor solution as the original ATMI. Modification indices, standardized regression weight, and squared multiple correlations were used to determine which items to be removed or retained during analysis until standard criteria for model fit reached. This items deletion produced a shorter version of ATMI (19 items) with fairly good internal consistency, both for all items inventory (α=0.92) or for individual subscale (mean α=0.86). Moreover, the t-test on the latent mean value showed no significant difference of attitude toward mathematics between male and female.&lt;/span&gt;

Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice of Mask Usage Among Patients in a Tertiary Dental Care Center.

The study aimed to evaluate the knowledge, attitude, and practice related to mask use among patients visiting a tertiary dental care clinic through a structured self-administered questionnaire. The cross-sectional study comprised dental outpatients at Government Medical College, Thrissur, Kerala. The questionnaire contained demographics, knowledge, attitudes, and practice questions about COVID-19. Data analysis included Chi-square testing and descriptive statistics. A 99% response rate was achieved with 495 responses. There were 241 (49%) men and 254 (51%) women. The study had the most respondents aged 21 to 40 years (n = 220; 44.4%), followed by people older than 40 years (n = 204; 41.2%) and younger than 20 years (n = 71; 14.3%). There were statistically significant differences in age, education, and occupation with knowledge and significant differences in attitude and practice by occupation. This study suggests that dental patients are knowledgeable about health issues and disease prevention strategies. Positive attitudes toward infection prevention in dental clinics with higher levels of prevention practices against COVID-19 transmission rates were reported.

Examining the Psychological Mechanisms Underlying Nostalgia Appeals: A Comparative Experiment of Nostalgia and Regret

ABSTRACT Obesity rates remain high among U.S. adults, especially rural residents. Research has shown that nostalgia appeals effectively promote several healthy behaviors. However, the psychological mechanisms underlying nostalgia appeals remain unclear. This study examined the effects of nostalgia appeals on intention to increase exercise and shed light on how nostalgia affected persuasive outcomes. We anticipated that nostalgia appeals would persuade people by enhancing self-esteem and reducing anger and counterarguing. To illuminate the mechanisms underlying the effects of nostalgia, a between-subject experiment (nostalgia appeal vs. regret appeal vs. irrelevant message vs. neutral persuasive message) was conducted among overweight or obese rural Michiganders (N = 507). Results showed that relative to the regret appeal, the nostalgia appeal led to higher state self-esteem, less anger, and less counterarguing. There was no significant difference in attitude or behavioral intention between the nostalgia appeal, regret appeal, and neutral persuasive message. We demonstrated that enhancing self-esteem was the key mechanism by which the nostalgia appeal persuaded the target audience.

Assessing Attitude and Practice on Study Habits among Higher Secondary Students

Study habits play an important role in the life of students those students who have good study have been found to have higher success rate. The main aim of the research was to verify the attitude of student towards study habit and the extent of their real-life application i.e. practice in view of the attitude. The study investigates the study habits of senior secondary school students in Bardhaman district, West Bengal, India using a descriptive-survey method. A stratified random sampling technique was employed to select 637 students, using Attitude and practice tool of Mondal and Samaddar's (2024) regarding study habits for data collection. In the finding. The study reveals significant differences in attitudes and practices towards study habits based on factors like gender, location, and education stream, with a positive correlation between attitudes and practice, contributing to our understanding of study habits' significance. In the study positive relationship between attitude and practice is observed which is (0.754) highly corelated.
