The effect of motivation on job satisfaction of health center workers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in light of the COVID-19 pandemic

This research aimed to understand how incentives affect job satisfaction among employees at health centers in Bisha, a region in Saudi Arabia. The method used was descriptive and analytical, involving all 1,300 employees at these health centers, with 274 randomly chosen participants for the survey. A questionnaire collected data from these participants. The findings suggest that the average job satisfaction among these employees is moderate, indicating they are somewhat satisfied. However, the system of incentives was generally found to be weak, despite a clear link between incentives and job satisfaction, proven significant at the α≤0.01 level. When considering educational background and years of experience, these factors did not significantly impact satisfaction levels with the incentive system at the α≤0.05 level. Yet, gender did show a significant difference in satisfaction levels at the same significance level. The research concludes that there is a need to reevaluate and improve the incentive system for health center employees in Bisha to enhance their job satisfaction. It suggests conducting further research to develop management strategies and explore new methods to increase employee satisfaction.

Job satisfaction among physical education teachers: A systematic literature review

Background Problems: In recent decades, physical education teacher job satisfaction has become a topic of interest in academic literature. The important role of physical education teachers' job satisfaction in the quality of teaching and its potential to influence student achievement have attracted attention. Research Objectives: This study aims to comprehensively analyse the level of job satisfaction among physical education teachers through a systematic review of the existing literature. Methods: We selected articles containing information on this topic from two databases (Scopus and Web of Science). We conducted the search according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. After the exclusion criteria, only 26 articles were categorized, all published between 2014 and 2023. Findings/Results: This research reveals that physical education teachers’ job satisfaction has been investigated in 13 countries, with Turkey, the United States, and Greece being the main focus. Although the majority of physical education teachers expressed high levels of satisfaction, significant differences in satisfaction levels emerged between them. For example, in Slovakia and Poland, satisfaction levels were relatively low. The findings underline that administrative support, work-life balance, and economic considerations are key factors that influence physical education teachers’ job satisfaction. However, in this context, money and rewards, working conditions, and the availability of resources also play an important role in determining teacher satisfaction. Conclusion: The findings from this study highlight the need for a deeper understanding of the diverse factors impacting job satisfaction among physical education instructors. We can develop more effective policies and practices to improve teachers’ well-being and performance at both local and global levels by understanding these nuances. We suggest further investigations into job satisfaction among physical education teachers in the Asian region, particularly focusing on Southeast Asia. Additionally, exploring variables such as leadership, self-efficacy, school climate, and culture in future research can offer deeper insights into the determinants of job satisfaction.

Students' Satisfaction with Library's Service Quality and Services in a Flexible Learning Environment

Services of the library in selected private higher education institutions in Isabela, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research examines satisfaction levels in terms of affect of service, library as a place, and information control. It also investigates satisfaction with library services such as Library Information Service, Circulation Service, Reference Service, and Internet/Online/Web Service. The study further explores whether there are significant differences in satisfaction levels among students grouped by program. Results indicate that students are moderately satisfied with the library's service quality and very satisfied with specific services. No significant differences are observed based on program groups. Additionally, identified problems include a lack of electronic resources, slow internet, and difficulties accessing recent online journals. The findings underscore the importance of continuous assessment to enhance library services, improve staff training, and address technological challenges.

Bridging Gaps: A Study on the Satisfaction Levels in Modular Distance Learning

The Philippine Department of Education adapted to pandemic circumstances by implementing various learning modalities, including Modular Distance Learning, where Self-Learning Modules serve as the primary instructional medium. As the traditional school setting undergoes a paradigm shift, parents play a crucial role as educational partners with teachers. Despite their vital role, there's a research gap in parent satisfaction with modular learning, particularly in the Indian context. This study aimed to assess parent and student satisfaction with modular distance learning, using a quantitative, descriptive research design. The study included 150 parents and 150 pupils randomly selected from grades 4-6. Findings revealed a significant difference in satisfaction levels between parents and students across areas such as learning experience, teacher assistance, module quality, school support, and overall learning quality. Parents expressed low satisfaction with the learning experience, average satisfaction with the teacher's assistance and learning quality, and high satisfaction with module quality and school support. Recommendations underscore the need for school administrators to implement enhancement programs and revisit curricula to boost satisfaction levels. This study sheds light on the evolving dynamics of education during challenging times and emphasizes the importance of collaboration between parents and schools in ensuring effective learning experiences.

User Satisfaction on Academic Information System in UIN KH Abdurrahman Wahid Pekalongan

The aim of this research is to evaluate the satisfaction level of students, lecturers, and educational staff towards the integrated academic information system, Sistem Informasi Akademik Terpadu (SIKADU), at UIN KH Abdurrahman Wahid Pekalongan, and to test whether there are any differences in satisfaction levels among these three groups. Additionally, this study aims to identify any issues encountered by users while utilizing it. The population for this research consists of users of SIKADU in UIN KH Abdurrahman Wahid Pekalongan. A convenience sampling technique was employed, and 162 respondents were selected as the sample. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, Kruskal Wallis and Cronbach's alpha test. The findings revealed that (1) there are significant differences in satisfaction levels among these three groups (2) 61.8% of the respondents were satisfied with the performance of SIKADU (3) only 17.3% of respondents accessed SIKADU on a daily basis (4) the majority of respondents (67.3%) accessed SIKADU through their mobile phones while at home (5) all dimensions of satisfaction measurement were deemed valid and reliable (6) the primary obstacles faced by the academic community were related to inputting data during course input and downloading scoring forms using SIKADU.

Factors Mediating the Link Between Engagement and Satisfaction Among Online English-Mediated Instruction Learners During COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic forced universities worldwide to make the switch to online instruction, raising concerns about the quality of online courses and their impact on student satisfaction and engagement. This study aimed to explore Korean university students’ satisfaction levels with online English-mediated instruction (EMI) courses during the pandemic and identify factors that influence class satisfaction. The purpose of this study was to provide insights into how EMI instructors could improve their online teaching practices during and after a pandemic. The hypothesis was that instructional strategies (IS), academic conscientiousness (AC), and academic integration (AI) could mediate the link between engagement and satisfaction. The study used a survey design to collect data from 219 Korean university students who took online EMI courses during the spring 2020 semester. The survey collected demographic information as well as students’ perceptions of valuable IS, AC, AI, and satisfaction. Data analysis included independent samples t-test, correlation analysis, Structural Equation Modelling (SEM), and multiple regression analysis. The results showed IS use and satisfaction differed among disciplines. Specifically, there were significant differences in satisfaction levels between Arts, STEM, Business, Social Sciences, and Literature and Languages majors. Additionally, there were significant relationships between demographics, AC, AI, IS use, and satisfaction. SEM was used to provide a general view of factors mediating the link between engagement and satisfaction. The results revealed that AC, AI, and IS use mediated the link between engagement and satisfaction. Multiple regression analysis showed that students were more satisfied with instructors who demonstrated care and warmth using social networking sites to communicate. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into student satisfaction with online EMI courses during the COVID-19 pandemic and for the future of online EMI teaching-learning. The findings suggest that online EMI instructors should consider using social networking sites to communicate with students in order to increase satisfaction levels. Additionally, instructors should be aware that different disciplines may require different instructional strategies to maximize student engagement and satisfaction.

Evaluating student satisfaction with blended learning styles in the post- COVID-19 era at Umm Alqura University

This research aims to assess student satisfaction with blended learning styles in the post-COVID-19 era at Umm Alqura University, taking into consideration the variables of gender, study level, and academic major. The study utilizes a descriptive analysis methodology to evaluate student satisfaction, employing a sample of 248 students enrolled at Umm Alqura University during the 2021–2022 academic year. A satisfaction questionnaire was developed and administered to collect the necessary data from the participants, ensuring the validity and reliability of the questionnaire. The research findings indicate a high level of satisfaction among university students towards the various blended learning styles, namely the Rotation Model, Lab Rotation, Flipped Classroom, and Individual Rotation. Statistical analysis reveals no significant differences in the mean scores of student satisfaction across different study groups, indicating a consistent level of satisfaction with the blended learning styles, including individual rotation, flipped classroom, lab rotation, and rotation model. Furthermore, there are no statistically significant differences in satisfaction levels between male and female students. Similarly, no significant differences are observed in satisfaction levels between bachelor and postgraduate students. However, a statistically significant difference is found between scientific specialization students and literary specialization students, favoring the literary specialization students' approval of the blended learning style. These research findings contribute to the understanding of the blended learning environment and its associated styles. Moreover, the results highlight the need for further investigation into the effectiveness of blended learning and its various patterns in promoting diverse learning outcomes.

Satisfaction on Nursing Management of Postoperative Complications Rendered by Surgical Staff Nurses in Philippines

This study examined the satisfaction levels of surgical staff nurses and clients on the nursing management of postoperative complications in different hospitals in Iriga City, Philippines. The study investigated the personal and professional attributes of surgical staff nurses, the level of satisfaction of nursing care in preventing postoperative complications, the relationship between personal and professional attributes and interventions, and proposed measures based on the study's findings. The results showed that most surgical staff nurses were female, had a baccalaureate degree, attended training in the surgical area, and had 6 to 10 years of experience. Both staff nurses and patients were satisfied with the nursing management rendered in preventing postoperative complications, and there was no significant difference in satisfaction levels between clients and staff nurses. There was no significant relationship between the profile of staff nurses and the level of satisfaction with nursing care for preventing postoperative complications.

Evaluation of Student Satisfaction with Ubiquitous-Based Tests in Women's Health Nursing Course.

Learning evaluation using ubiquitous-based tests may be essential during a public health crisis, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, during which theoretical classes and clinical practice are conducted online. However, students may not be as familiar with ubiquitous-based tests as they are with paper-based tests. This survey study aimed to evaluate students’ satisfaction with ubiquitous-based tests and compare the evaluation results of a paper-based test with that of a ubiquitous-based test in nursing education. For the midterm exam of the Women’s Health Nursing course, a paper-based test was conducted, while a ubiquitous-based test using a tablet computer was used for the final exam. The Ubiquitous-Based Test Usefulness and Satisfaction tool, which has a five-point Likert-type response scale, was employed to evaluate the post-test usefulness and satisfaction scores of the ubiquitous-based test. The mean score of the ubiquitous-based test usefulness was 4.01 ± 0.67. There was a significant difference in satisfaction levels between the ubiquitous-based and the paper-based test (t = −3.36, p = 0.001). Specifically, the evaluation scores were not affected by different evaluation methods. Study participants deemed the ubiquitous-based test highly useful and satisfactory, suggesting that such tests may be a future-oriented evaluation method, potentially replacing paper-based tests.

Does the Payment Method Affect Patient Satisfaction? An Analytical Study in 10 Hospitals in Central Sulawesi

Indonesia has started reforms in the health system over the past five years, aiming to increase access of all people to health services. At present, there is public concern about quality health services, where the success of hospitals in meeting patient expectations is a major determinant in increasing patient satisfaction and trust. Patient satisfaction is an important measure for the process of evaluating the quality of services to patients in hospitals. However, the evaluation of patient satisfaction based on their payment methods is still very limited. The purpose of this study was to measure differences in hospital service satisfaction based on payment methods in Central Sulawesi. 
 
 This an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional approach. Samples were taken using purposive sampling technique from 10 hospitals in Center Sulawesi. The samples were 107 respondents for each hospital or 1,070 respondents overall. 
 
 The highest overall level of patient satisfaction on all elements was experienced by respondents who paid using NHIS (77.50%) while the lowest was felt by respondents who paid with KIS (70.74%). The Kruskal Wallis test results for all elements indicated that there were significant differences in satisfaction levels based on the payment methods in all elements with p-value = 0.000, (p-value <0.05). The results of this study indicated that there were significant differences in satisfaction levels based on the payment methods in all elements of service.

Effects of improving the interactive design of a Chinese character learning system on the learning performance of Chinese as foreign language students

This study explored interactive interface design for writing practice, feedback, and grading in Chinese character learning systems. In the experiment, 30 novice Chinese learners were invited to perform designated learning tasks on two different learning systems. Learning times and outcomes were measured. The results indicated that improvement of interactive design had positive effects on learning performance, and the participants preferred the interactive design of the newer system. Then, a total of 37 Chinese learners of different proficiencies were invited to complete a survey on their satisfaction toward the interactive design of the new system. The results revealed no significant differences in satisfaction levels across Chinese learners regardless of proficiency; moreover, all participants agreed that the interactive design of the new system benefited their learning. According to the results, improvements in interactive designs can increase learning performance when studying Chinese characters. The results can also serve as interactive design guidelines for future Chinese character learning systems.

Levels of Satisfaction with Leisure Time in Foreign Students

The aim of this study was to investigate levels of satisfaction with leisure time in foreign students of Kocaeli University. In the collection of the data, the Leisure Satisfaction Scale (LSS) and demographic status questionnaire were used; 257 male and 103 female students participated. In the LSS scores for the separate domains, participants scored highest in Education and lowest in the Aesthetic subscale. There was no statistically significant difference in satisfaction levels between the genders, monthly income groups, and levels of academic achievement; but statistically significant differences were found between the students’ faculties. Significant differences were found between faculties in the LSS scores on the Psychological subscale, and between students’ monthly incomes and the Relaxation subscale on the LSS. As a result, there was a significant difference between the different faculties and students’ satisfaction with leisure time on the Psychological subscale.

A study of satisfaction of medical students on their mentoring programs at one medical school in Korea.

PurposeThe purpose of this study was to investigate the awareness levels of medical students regarding the characteristics of each function within a mentoring program conducted within Kyung Hee University and to ultimately suggest points for reformation. Medical students’ awareness levels were determined using a 29-item questionnaire.MethodsThe questionnaire was conducted on 347 medical students, excluding 25 students who either marked multiple answers or did not reply. The assessment of the program was based on a questionnaire with the use of a 5-point Likert scale using SPSS version 22.0. Multiple regression was conducted to examine the relationship between the satisfaction level, regarding functions of mentoring programs, and characteristics of mentoring programs. Interviews were conducted to supplement additional information that was hard to gain from the questionnaire.ResultsThe results on demographic and functional characteristics revealed that there was no statistically significant differences in satisfaction levels across gender, whereas there were significant differences across grade levels. In addition, there were significant differences in the frequency of meetings and topics of conversation while the length of meetings and meeting place were not significantly different.ConclusionFor the improved mentoring programs for medical students, the program should focus on the frequency of meetings and the topics of conversation. Furthermore, mentoring programs of high quality can be expected if professors take interview results into consideration. Also, students want to be provided with psychosocial advice from mentors in various ways such as role model function.

IntroductionInfertility is a complex issue that affects individuals’ mental health. Also marital satisfaction can be affected by fertility status of couples. Then, it is one of the most important features of life satisfaction. So, the study of mental health and marital satisfaction of infertile and fertile women is considerable.ObjectivesThis research has been done with the aim of study and comparison of marital satisfaction level and mental health of the women who have infertility problem with those who does not have this problem.MethodIn total, 180 persons (90 infertile women and 90 fertile women) were participating in this study. Participants were comprised of those referring to infertility center of Jahad Daneshgahi in Qom. They filled the general health questionnaire (GHQ) and enrich marital satisfactions questionnaire have been used. Acquired information analyzed with the independent t-tests and one-way variance analysis.ResultsResults showed infertile women have less mental health rather than fertile women and also according to results, there was significant difference in satisfaction level of the fertile and infertile women. The number of unsuccessful pregnancies whether in fertile women or infertile women didnot have considerable effect on the marital satisfaction, while, effect of this factor on marital satisfaction level of the infertile women was higher than that on the fertile women.ConclusionGenerally, by inclusion of limitations in this plan, it is inevitable to emphasize on negative consequences of the infertility on spouses’ life and it is important to pay attention to its different dimensions.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Meta-analysis of Specific Music Therapy Measures and Their Implications for the Health Care System.

The purpose of the activity reported in this article was to conduct an exhaustive search of the Journal of Music Therapy, filter the articles on the desired parameters, and organize data for analysis and interpretation. Specifically, the researcher studied whether (a) there was a significant difference in physiological measures, (b) there was a significant difference in quality of life, (c) there was a significant difference in satisfaction levels, (d) there was a significant difference in pain reduction, (e) there was a significant difference in procedural length, (f) there was a significant difference in length of stay, and (g) whether the overall effect size and 95% confidence level support the recommendation of music therapy in the health care setting. Twenty-four studies met criteria for inclusion in the systematic review. Results revealed an overall effect size of d = 0.61. However, results of the 95% confidence interval included 0, which suggests that there may not be a statistically significant difference in the health care setting on desired measures. Further results and implications are discussed within the article.

Measuring the Satisfaction Levels of Mobile Financial Services Users in Bangladesh

Bangladesh enjoys fast growing mobile financial services (MFS) outlook that covers only 15% of the total population which indicates an ample opportunity yet to be tapped. This study aims to examine the satisfaction levels of mobile financial services users under different dimensions using SERVQUAL instrument. A self-administered questionnaire was used to survey in Dhaka with a sample of 201 respondents of various strata and data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and ANOVA. The findings reveal that the overall satisfaction level of the users is somewhat satisfactory. The results also show that there are significant differences in satisfaction levels among the MFS user groups in terms of service providers' commitment, speed and sincerity and these differences are insignificant in terms of service users' income and convenience. The study suggests that the services need to be more customized and developed to improve the levels of satisfaction of the users.

Prioritizing Factors Affecting Students' Satisfaction with Educational Quality in Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences (2011-2012)

Background: Determining satisfaction level helps the development and improvement of universities. This study was designed to investigate satisfaction level and prioritize factors affecting students' satisfaction with educational quality in Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences. Methods: This is a descriptive-analytical study. The data gathering tool was a researcher made questionnaire consisted of 54 questions covering different fields regarding students’ satisfaction. Subjects were 400 intern students of Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences. Sampling was performed by stratified random method. Significance level was 0.05. Results: Students' satisfaction with classroom physical conditions and educational aids was moderate to good (3.11±1.71), while laboratory and practice rooms was moderate to low (2.91±1.07). Also, satisfaction with the educational services was moderate (3.02±1.11), with field training and internship, was moderate to low (2.94±1.21), and with teaching methods it was moderate to low (3.12±1.11). According to the results of this study, the first priority is library resources and internet access. Results showed that there is a significant difference in most criteria (p<0.05), but no significant difference was observed in satisfaction level with internship among different degrees. Also, there was no significant difference between females and males regarding satisfaction level with classroom physical conditions, internship and library resources. Also, results showed that there is a significant difference in satisfaction level between students of different faculties (p=0.001) and different degrees (p=0.001). Conclusion: To improve students' satisfaction level, more emphasis must be put on library resources and internet, laboratory and practice rooms, field training and internship, educational services, classroom physical conditions and educational aids, and teaching methods, respectively.

A study on farmers’ satisfaction with delivery of veterinary services

A study was purposively conducted following exploratory research design in Alwar district of Rajasthan to assess the satisfaction of the farmers about delivery of veterinary services, provided by department of animal husbandry. The department of animal husbandry deals with welfare of livestock and is responsible for matters related to livestock production, preservation, protection and improvement of stocks, and dairy development. Information was collected with the help of pretested and well structured interview schedule from 150 farmers, who had at least one milch animal at the time of investigation. Large proportion of farmers (38.66%) had medium level of satisfaction with provided veterinary services. Farmers were found ‘very satisfied’ with reliability of treatment, information about disease outbreak and vaccination of animal whereas ‘dissatisfied’ with in-time availability of services at village level, awareness campaign and post-mortem of dead animal. There was significant difference in satisfaction level of farmers regarding various services provided by department of animal husbandry.

Third Person Effects in Interview Responses on Life Satisfaction

Abstract This paper investigates the finding that reported life satisfaction scores are significantly higher in the German Socio-Economic Panel when a third person is present during the interview. Even after controlling a variety of relevant factors, third person presence makes up a significant difference in satisfaction levels. A plausible explanation is that interviewees distort their responses in a favourable way. The evidence suggests that this apparently minor aspect could even affect empirical outcomes in happiness research. This study contributes to the literature in this field, especially with respect to the recently revived debate on survey methodology in the reporting of satisfaction. JEL-Classification: C8, D6, I3
