Facile synthesis of KMnCl3 halide perovskite based composites with rGO and fullerene (C60) for efficient supercapacitor electrodes

Recently, the family of halide perovskite materials drawn significant attention of scientific community for next generation energy storage devices because of their outstanding features, such as high ionic and electronic conductivity. However, besides energy conversion, their use for energy storage is found to be limited. In this study, an efficient antisolvent approach were employed to synthesize the halide perovskites KMnCl3, and their composites, i.e.; KMnCl3/rGO and KMnCl3/C60, for supercapacitor electrodes. XRD spectra confirm the phase purity with orthorhombic phase, while FE-SEM revealed the porous type morphology of rGO and C60 based composite, facilitating the smooth and fast ions transportation at the electrode. EDX spectra confirmed the presence of the constituent elements. I-V measurements confirmed the high conductivity and low resistivity for rGO and fullerene (C60) based composite, supporting the EIS analysis having low solution and polarization resistance. BET analysis exhibit the mesoporous nature of the fullerene (C60) based sample with surface area (25.3412 m2/g), pore radius (45.3023 nm), and pore volume (0.0038 cc/g), respectively. Further, the CV test confirmed the pesudocapacitive nature, with outstanding stability 95 % over 4000th charging-discharging cycles. GCD test also demonstrated that fullerene (C60) based electrode have high specific capacitance, high power density and energy density (936.67 F/g, 3.1 W/kg, 150.58 Wh/Kg) as compared to other electrodes. The scalable synthesis of halide perovskite-based composites can be effectively used as next generation supercapacitor electrode with enhanced electrochemical performance for real applications in future.

Synthesis, Structural, and Photoluminescence Properties of MoS2 Nanowall Films

Production and characterization of molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) and other transition metal dichalcogenide materials attract significant attention of scientific community due to pronounced two‐dimensional character of their electronic properties. Herein, MoS2 synthesis by chemical vapor deposition with gaseous hydrogen sulfide (H2S) containing thermally evaporated molybdenum (Mo) is presented. The films deposited onto silicon (Si) substrate consist of flake‐like crystallites of nanometer thickness assembled of parallel atomic layers oriented predominantly along a normal to the substrate surface. The dependence of film morphology on deposition time, substrate temperature, and precursor composition in gaseous phase is investigated. The Raman spectroscopy and electron microscopy analysis reveal the presence of mono‐ and bilayered structures in the film. Photoluminescence (PL) efficiency of the films is found to be increased in comparison with the monolayer MoS2 crystallites. The high PL efficiency in combination with the high spatial uniformity of the film materials makes them prospective for application in electronic and photonic industry.

Targeting miRNAs by polyphenols: Novel therapeutic strategy for cancer.

In the recent years, polyphenols have gained significant attention in scientific community owing to their potential anticancer effects against a wide range of human malignancies. Epidemiological, clinical and preclinical studies have supported that daily intake of polyphenol-rich dietary fruits have a strong co-relationship in the prevention of different types of cancer. In addition to direct antioxidant mechanisms, they also regulate several therapeutically important oncogenic signaling and transcription factors. However, after the discovery of microRNA (miRNA), numerous studies have identified that polyphenols, including epigallocatechin-3-gallate, genistein, resveratrol and curcumin exert their anticancer effects by regulating different miRNAs which are implicated in all the stages of cancer. MiRNAs are short, non-coding endogenous RNA, which silence the gene functions by targeting messenger RNA (mRNA) through degradation or translation repression. However, cancer associated miRNAs has emerged only in recent years to support its applications in cancer therapy. Preclinical experiments have suggested that deregulation of single miRNA is sufficient for neoplastic transformation of cells. Indeed, the widespread deregulation of several miRNA profiles of tumor and healthy tissue samples revealed the involvement of many types of miRNA in the development of numerous cancers. Hence, targeting the miRNAs using polyphenols will be a novel and promising strategy in anticancer chemotherapy. Herein, we have critically reviewed the potential applications of polyphenols on various human miRNAs, especially which are involved in oncogenic and tumor suppressor pathways.

Probing the molecular orientation of chemically polymerized polythiophene-polyrotaxane via solid state NMR

Polyrotaxanes have attracted significant attention of scientific community and are being explored towing to its electro-optical properties. The orientation and the molecular structure of polyrotaxanes influence its final properties. Thus a, detail understanding of the structure of such compounds at the molecular level will provide an opportunity to further tune and optimize their properties. Here chemically polymerized polythiophene polyrotaxane i.e. Thiophene [2]Rotaxane which is the rotaxane like compound consisting of several macrocycle, was studied in the powdered form. This allowed us to investigate the molecular structure of polyrotaxane and to obtain the detail insights into its structure property relationship via solid state NMR. The as-obtained polymer has also been characterized via various other techniques including UV spectroscopy, solution NMR and so on. We elucidated the structure of the Thiophene [2]Rotaxane monomer remained intact even after polymerization.
