Cross‐Scale Synergistic Manipulation of Dielectric Genes in Polymetallic Sulfides from Micropolarization to Macroconductance Toward Wide‐Band Microwave Absorption

AbstractRecently, the design and development of efficient microwave absorbents by facile engineering approaches have attracted much attention. Particularly, some unique structures caused by cross‐scale design are promising in enhancing the absorbing capability toward microwave irradiation. Herein, the cross‐scale design strategy is implemented to enhance the electromagnetic wave absorption performance of polymetallic sulfides (PMS). In PMS, the dipole polarization unit is optimized, and the distribution of electronic states is improved by doping Ti atoms; Meanwhile, the MS/M3S4 homogeneous hetero‐phases interfaces is constructed in PMS using a phase separation strategy; and the conductivity of PMS is modulated by the addition of acetylene black (ACET). The cross‐scale synergy of microwave absorption leads to a significant enhancement of the microwave absorption (MA) performance of PMS/ACET composites. The optimal reflection loss value of Ti‐LES with 10% ACET addition reaches −55.49 dB and the effective absorption bandwidth reaches 6.73 GHz. The 17.5% ACET‐conditioned Ti‐HES achieves a reflection loss of −37.2 dB at a low frequency of 4.8 GHz. This study not only provides a novel strategy for the development of new broadband MA materials but also validates a new idea for the multi‐scale synergistic optimization of MA materials.

Significant enhancement of optical absorption of graphene inside a metallic optical microcavity

The increase in the optical absorption of the graphene layers above the value of 2.3% of the bare layer in vacuum is of great interest for application in opto-electronics. A monolayer graphene sheet embedded in a stacked dielectric layers has been shown to reach an absorption up to 50%. Here, we theoretically show that the absorption could be significantly enhanced to greater than 50% via boosting the environmental permeability by using an empty optical cavity. This enhancement is nearly independent on the structure of the environment around the graphene sheet, except for the dimensional parameters of the cavity. The obtained results are crucial for motional control of graphene sheets by an all-optical method.

Lewis acid catalysis of polydopamine electropolymerisation as a tool for shaping its morphology and electrochemical properties

Organic–inorganic semiconductor interfaces are of utmost importance in many photoelectrochemical applications, including water splitting and photodegradation of pollutants. The current work focuses on the fabrication and characterisation of transition metal-loaded polydopamine (PDA) electropolymerised on the surface of titania nanotubes. The structural studies via X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and electron microscopy confirmed the catalytic effect of d-metal salts on the formation of the PDA layer during electropolymerisation. Cu and Ni loading leads to a significant enhancement of the visible absorption compared to that of the pristine PDA, also confirmed by the density functional theory calculations. Although the boost is greater for the thickest coatings, an excess amount of polymer suppresses the charge transfer and thus photocurrent generation. Synthesis in acidic conditions—optimal for photosensitisation—provides structures with a strong increase in the photocurrent quantum efficiency in the visible range, equal to 20% at 400 nm.Graphical

Pharmacokinetics and antioxidant activity of dihydrocaffeic acid grafted chitosan nanomicelles loaded with chicoric acid in broilers

Chicoric acid (CA) is a natural nutrient found in plants, showcasing diverse biological activities, including anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Despite its valuable properties, CA faces limitations in bioavailability and susceptibility to oxidative breakdown during utilization. Previous research introduced synthesized dihydrocaffeic acid grafted chitosan self-assembled nanomicelles (DA-g-CS), demonstrating its potential to enhance CA absorption. This study aims to investigate the pharmacokinetics, tissue distribution, and antioxidant activity of both CA and DA-g-CS loaded CA (DA-g-CS/CA) in broilers. An IPEC-J2 cell model was established and evaluated to delve deeper into the transport mechanism and antioxidant potential. The in vivo pharmacokinetic analysis in broilers highlighted a substantial difference: the maximum plasma concentration (Cmax) of DA-g-CS/CA exceeded CA by 2.6-fold, yielding a notable increased relative bioavailability to 214%. This evidence underscores the significant enhancement in CA's oral absorption, facilitated by DA-g-CS. The collective evaluation outcomes affirm the successful development of the cell model, indicating its suitability for drug transporter experiments. The findings from the intestinal transit analysis revealed that both CA and DA-g-CS/CA underwent passive entry into IPEC-J2 cells. Notably, the cellular uptake rate of DA-g-CS loaded with CA was significantly amplified, reaching 2.1 times higher than that of CA alone. Intracellular transport mechanisms involved microtubules, lysosomes, and the endoplasmic reticulum, with an additional pathway involving the endoplasmic reticulum observed specifically for DA-g-CS/CA, distinguishing it from CA. Moreover, the results from both in vivo and in vitro antioxidant assessments highlight the potent antioxidant activity of DA-g-CS/CA, showcasing its efficacy in preventing and treating cellular damage induced by oxidative stress. In summary, these findings underscore the significant enhancement of CA's efficacy facilitated by DA-g-CS, establishing a robust theoretical foundation for the prospective application of CA within livestock and poultry farming.

Uncovering optical, magnetic, and electrical properties of epitaxial nitrogen-doped lithium ferrite films

The powerful means of nitrogen doping has been applied to perovskite, rocksalt, anatase, and fluorite oxides to tailor crystal structures, electronic/chemical states, and resultant physical/chemical properties for electronic/optical/magnetic device, catalysis, and energy conversion. However, it is rare for nitrogen-doped spinel oxides, especially for spinel ferrites. Here, we take spinel lithium ferrite (LiFe5O8) as an archetype to elucidate the nitrogen doping effect on the optical, magnetic, and electrical properties. The nitrogen dopants in lithium ferrite oxynitride (LiFe5O8-xNy) epitaxial films have been systematically manipulated by adjusting the deposition atmospheres during sputtering growth. Remarkably, nitrogen doping leads to a significant enhancement in both light absorption (approximately twice as enhanced at 2.1 eV) and electrical performance (up to 6 order enhancement) for lithium ferrites. The combined experimental and theoretical studies reveal that the nitrogen doping effect can effectively narrow the bandgap and create in-gap states that give rise to enhanced light absorption and electrical performance. Our study sheds light on a profound understanding of nitrogen doping-tailored crystal and electronic structures of spinel ferrites and provides a novel, easy, and effective route to magnetic semiconducting ferrite oxynitrides with boosted light absorption and electrical performance, which can be beneficial to spintronic and photochemistry applications.

Effect of goji berry incorporation on the texture, physicochemical, and sensory properties of wheat bread.

The regular intake of Lycium barbarum (goji berry) is supposed to play an important role in the promotion of human health. Regarding, its incorporation into staple foods, including bread, seems to be effective. However, it requires the evaluation of dough behavior and final product quality. This study investigated the effect of goji berry incorporation at levels of 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30% ww-1 on the textural, physicochemical, and sensory properties of wheat bread. Results indicated a significant enhancement of water absorption and gelatinization temperature in composite flour via the inclusion of goji berry powder (p < 0.05). Using goji berry powder up to 20% ww-1 has shown to obtain the structure able to restore gases through the baking process and provide enhancement in a specific volume at about 10%. Alongside, the hardness of composite bread decreased, and the optimal hardness was observed at formulations containing 20% w/w goji berry powder with a value equal to 1199.95 ± 0.05 g, which is supposed to be induced by the higher specific volume and lower moisture content of bread samples. Moreover, color and sensory perception have been found to be significantly changed by goji berry substitution. Goji berry substitution up to 20% ww-1 is found to be preferred by the consumer, and a drop in overall acceptability was observed at its higher inclusion. The technological characteristic changes induced by goji berry incorporation are induced by its gluten dilution impact. However, the gel-like structure formed by the high fiber content of goji berries compensates for this adverse impact up to 20% w/w substitution level.

Dense arrangement of crown ethers in graphene: novel graphitic carbon oxides with enhanced optoelectronic properties.

Incorporating crown ethers into a graphene lattice presents an efficient means of tuning its properties and expanding its range of potential applications. This study employed density functional theory calculations to introduce a series of novel graphitic carbon oxides through the dense arrangement of crown ethers featuring varying cavity sizes within the graphene structure. These newly developed graphitic carbon oxides exhibit thermodynamic and dynamic stability. They also manifest improved stability relative to previously reported graphene oxides with similar oxygen content. Notably, a robust linear relationship is observed between the cohesive energies and the proportion of oxygen atoms. The electronic properties of these graphitic carbon oxides span a spectrum of characteristics, including semi-metallic, metallic, and semi-conducting behavior. Their calculated band gaps range from 0.11 eV to 4.38 eV. Specifically, our analysis reveals that C6G-1, characterized by its largest crown ether-like nanopore with six oxygen atoms, holds potential as a material for photocatalytic water splitting. Moreover, these materials exhibit anisotropic optical properties, showcasing a significant enhancement in absorption within the infrared and visible regions relative to pristine graphene. Given the successful experimental synthesis of crown ether in graphene, we anticipate that our findings will contribute to the widespread utilization of graphene derivatives in low-dimensional electronic, catalytic, and optical devices.

Gas Sensing Properties of Pd-Decorated GeSe Monolayer toward Formaldehyde and Benzene Molecules: A First-Principles Study.

In this study, the gas sensing properties of formaldehyde (HCHO) and benzene (C6H6) adsorbed on two-dimensional (2D) pristine GeSe and Pd-decorated GeSe (Pd-GeSe) monolayers are studied by using first-principles calculations. The adsorption energies, electronic properties, optical properties, sensitivity, and recovery time of the gas adsorption systems have been thoroughly investigated. It is found that the adsorption of C6H6 on two substrate surfaces and the adsorption of HCHO on pristine GeSe are examples of physical adsorption. However, after HCHO adsorption on the Pd-GeSe monolayer, the adsorption system exhibits an increased adsorption energy of -1.21 eV, which is more favorable compared with the other adsorption systems studied. Moreover, the electron localization function and charge transfer from Pd-GeSe to HCHO are significantly enhanced, indicating distinct chemical adsorption behavior. Furthermore, it demonstrates a larger band gap change rate of 18.8% and a significant enhancement of optical absorption upon the adsorption of HCHO on the Pd-GeSe monolayer. Additionally, the appropriate sensitivity and moderate recovery time for the adsorption of HCHO on the Pd-GeSe surface indicate that the Pd-GeSe monolayer possesses an outstanding sensing capability for HCHO gas.

Strain engineering of magneto-optical properties in C[formula omitted]B/C[formula omitted]N van der Waals heterostructure

Carbon-based bilayer van der Waals (vdW) materials are attracting much attention due to their predicted interesting physical properties. Here, we theoretically investigate electronic and optical properties of C3B/C3N vdW heterostructure (HTS) under external magnetic field and mechanical strain. The tight-binding model of the system is constructed to include the strain-induced modification of the hopping interactions. The influence of a uniform perpendicular magnetic field is included by using the Peierls substitution method. We observe the intriguing electronic and optical characteristics of the HTS under mechanical strain, covering the band inversion, alteration of band gap and optical gap, distortion of band-edge states, as well as significant enhancement of optical absorption. Furthermore, the interplay between external magnetic field and biaxial strain leads to exotic features of quantization and optical spectra. This work provides important information for the comprehension of the engineering of materials by external effects. Our study suggests that C3B/C3N vdW HTS is a promising candidate for next-generation electronic and optoelectronic devices.

Mucosal absorption of antibody drugs enhanced by cell-penetrating peptides anchored to a platform of polysaccharides

Our previous studies demonstrated that L-octaarginine grafted onto hyaluronic acid via a tetraglycine spacer significantly enhanced intranasal absorption of protein drugs with a molecular weight (Mw) of 22 kDa or less. The present study focused on its potential as an absorption enhancer for antibody drugs with a larger Mw and the enhancement mechanism. When ranibizumab (48 kDa) alone was intranasally administered in mice, its absolute bioavailability was 0.67% on average. The mean bioavailability elevated to 6.2% under coadministration with tetraglycine-L-octaarginine-linked hyaluronic acid. A similar result was observed under substitution of ranibizumab with certolizumab pegol (91 kDa), although bioavailability itself decreased with the Mw increase, irrespective of coadministration with the hyaluronic acid derivative. Rat experiments also revealed that coadministration with the polysaccharide derivative resulted in significant enhancement of intranasal absorption of trastuzumab (148 kDa). In vitro studies using gene-knocked down cells indicated that syndecan-4-induced macropinocytosis played a crucial role on acceleration of antibody uptake into epithelial cells on the nasal mucosa, irrespective of their Mw. It appeared that neither clathrin heavy chain nor caveolin-1 involved in cellular uptake of antibodies. Tetraglycine-L-octaarginine-linked hyaluronic acid was concluded to be a promising delivery tool that possessed universal absorption-enhancing abilities independent to Mw of biologics.

Crashworthiness of Foam-Filled Cylindrical Sandwich Shells with Corrugated Cores.

Inspired by material hybrid design, novel hybrid sandwich shells were developed by filling a corrugated cylindrical structure with aluminum foam to achieve higher energy absorption performance. The crushing behavior of the foam-filled corrugated sandwich cylindrical shells (FFCSCSs) was investigated using theoretical and numerical methods. Numerical results revealed a significant enhancement in the energy absorption of FFCSCSs under axial compression, showcasing a maximum specific energy absorption of 60 kJ/kg. The coupling strengthening effect is highly pronounced, with a maximum value of F¯c/F¯ reaching up to 40%. The mechanism underlying this phenomenon can be approached from two perspectives. Firstly, the intrusion of folds into the foam insertions allows for more effective foam compression, maximizing its energy absorption capacity. Secondly, foam causes the folds to bend upwards, intensifying the mutual compression between the folds. This coupling mechanism was further investigated with a focus on analyzing the influence of parameters such as the relative density of the foam, the wall thickness of the sandwich shell, and the material properties. Moreover, a theoretical model was developed to accurately predict the mean crushing force of the FFCSCSs. Based on this model, the influence of various variables on the crushing behavior of the structure was thoroughly investigated through parametric studies.

Electromagnetically Induced Absorption Overcomes the Upper Limit of Light Absorption: Dipole-Dipole Coupling with Phase Retardation in Plasmonic-Dielectric Dimers.

Electromagnetically induced absorption (EIA) by a phase-retarded coupling is theoretically investigated using a dimer composed of a plasmonic and dielectric particle. This phase-retarded coupling originates from the particles interacting with each other through their scattered intermediate fields (in between near and far fields). Our analysis based on the coupled-dipole method and an extended coupled-oscillator model indicates that EIA by the phase-retarded coupling occurs due to constructive interference in the scattered fields of the particles. By employing the finite element method, we demonstrate that the absorption of the plasmonic particle is dramatically enhanced by tuning the interparticle distance and achieving constructive interference. In contrast to EIA by near-field coupling, which has been intensively researched using coupled plasmonic systems, EIA by a phase-retarded coupling enables us to strengthen the absorption of plasmonic systems more significantly. This significant absorption enhancement is expected to be beneficial to advancing various applications, such as energy harvesting and radiative cooling.

Enhancement of visible light photocatalytic removal of residual tetracycline by Ni doped WO3 nano structures

In this study, Ni was used to dope into WO3 structure to improve its photocatalytic performance for tetracycline degradation. The obtained characterized results indicated that Ni dopants acted as nuclei during crystallization resulting in crystal size increase. However, Nickel dopants substituted several Tungsten elements in the WO3 leading to lattice distortion preventing agglomeration of these newly formed Ni-WO3 crystals resulting in particle size decrease. Thus, Ni-WO3 crystals were larger than WO3 crystals while Ni-WO3 particles were much smaller than WO3 particles. Ni dopants also induced formation of mesopore on WO3 surface resulting in surface areas increase of the Ni-WO3. On other hand, as compared to pristine WO3, the synthesized Ni-WO3 exhibited significant enhancement in visible light absorption as well as effectively prevented electron-hole recombination. Thus, the Ni-WO3 exhibited novel photocatalytic performance even under visible light. Among synthesized Ni-WO3, the 3Ni-WO3, which mole ratio of Ni/WO3 was 3 %, presented the highest photocatalytic performance for tetracycline degradation.

Efficiency enhancement of GaAs nanowire array-based solar cell by plasmonic Al nanoparticles

Gallium arsenide (GaAs) nanowire (NW) solar cells (SCs) have piqued the interest of researchers because they exhibit superior light-harvesting and anti-reflection properties along with reduced material consumption compared to their planar counterparts. However, the high surface-to-volume ratio associated with these NWs degrades their performance in practical applications. Light trapping is considered one of the most crucial parameters for producing low-cost high-efficiency NW-SCs. Thus, numerous light-trapping strategies have been explored, among which surface plasmon resonance (SPR) based optical absorption enhancement using metal nanoparticles (NPs) has emerged as a potential method. The role of plasmonic aluminum (Al) NPs in the efficiency enhancement of GaAs NW SC has not yet been explored. Therefore, in this study, a vertically aligned GaAs NW SC structure incorporated with Al NPs has been investigated using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The sidewalls of GaAs NWs are embellished with uniformly arranged Al NPs with diameters ranging from 30 to 60 nm. The excitation of localized surface plasmon resonance in metal NPs results in significant light absorption enhancement at the GaAs near-band of the proposed structure. The results demonstrate that even with a low aspect ratio (D/P) of 0.3, optimizing the geometrical parameters of the NPs results in a 41.96 % increase in power conversion efficiency (PCE) and a 45 % increase in absorption efficiency at 800 nm for the proposed structure when compared to the bare structure. Hence, our suggested structure which utilizes the light-trapping mechanism of Al NPs proves to be a cost-effective and promising material combination for high-efficiency nanoscale SCs.

Comparative analysis of the substitutional and interstitial Li-, Na-doped, and Li∖Na-Codoped Cu2O via density functional calculations

A comprehensive comparative study utilizing HSE06 and GGA density functional calculations was conducted to investigate the impact of Li and Na doping, as well as their co-doping, on the physical properties of cuprous oxide (Cu2O). This study examined three possible structures, including substitution of Li, Na, and Li/Na for Cu, and interstitial Li, Na, and Li/Na in both tetrahedral and octahedral sites. The results of the study revealed that the introduction of alkaline atoms leads to structural changes in Cu2O, and the degree of lattice parameter extension or compression varies across different doping sites. Additionally, the study provided an estimation of the enthalpies of formation for pure and doped-Cu2O, which is useful in understanding the stability of the systems. Notably, the study found that Li, Na, and Li/Na-doped-Cu2O were more readily formed in substitutional sites rather than in interstitial sites. The findings also indicate that substitutional doping and co-doping exhibit a large band gap while maintaining the properties of a p-type semiconductor, while interstitial doping and co-doping of Cu2O led to significant absorption enhancement and n-type conductivity characteristics. These results provide new insights into the structural and electronic properties of Cu2O, with the findings suggesting that interstitial doping of Li and Na could be a promising approach for improving the absorption of visible light in Cu2O-based solar cells, thus contributing to the development of more efficient and cost-effective photovoltaic devices.

Fine-tuning of plasmonics by Au@AuY/Au core–shell nanoparticle monolayer for enhancement of third-order nonlinearity

The manipulation of plasmonics on noble metal nanoparticles (NPs) is of great interest in developing nonlinear photonic devices, such as all-optical switches and frequency combs. An Au@AuY-core/Au-shell nanoparticle (Au@AuY/Au NP) monolayer is proposed for the fine-tuning of plasmonics and enhanced third-order nonlinearity. Based on the different thermodynamic mechanisms of Au and Y ions, the compact Au@AuY/Au core–shell architectures are designed and surface-modified in fused silica (SiO2) with enhanced free electron density, mobility, and quantum size effect. The flexible modulation of plasmonics is realized, resulting in significant absorption enhancement (165% for interband absorption and 38% for free electron absorption, respectively) and fine-tuning of the localized surface plasma resonance (LSPR) band. In addition, the physical mechanism is investigated by density functional theory (DFT) and Mie theory, which reveals a transition from size-independence to size-dependence of LSPR owing to the synergistic effect of multiple physical factors such as free electron density and mobility. With the above advantages, the third-order nonlinearity is enhanced by 4.4 times compared with traditional Au NPs. It indicates the significant potential of Au@AuY/Au core–shell NP monolayer in the performance improvement of nonlinear photonic devices.

Bias-free visible light-driven photoelectrochemical water splitting of type II ZnO/CuS core/shell heterojunction nanotube arrays

Solar-driven water splitting of semiconductor photoelectrodes via photoelectrochemical (PEC) cell has been regarded as the most promising approach to mitigate the energy crisis and environmental issues in the future. In this work, CuS nanoparticles (NPs) are deposited on ZnO nanotube arrays (ZnO/CuS NTAs) via successive ion layer absorption and reaction method for PEC water splitting under visible light irradiation without applying bias. The excellent light harvesting capacity of CuS NPs from visible to near infrared region not only expands the light harvesting of ZnO NTAs into near infrared region, but also substantially boosts light absorption ranging from 300 to 800 nm. Moreover, CuS NPs coupled on ZnO NTAs can establish a type-II band alignment between ZnO and CuS. Consequently, the ZnO/CuS NTAs photoanode exhibits the significantly boosted PEC water splitting performance under visible light illumination (λ > 420 nm) without applying bias. The photocurrent density of the ZnO/CuS NTAs photoanode is 21.2 μA/cm2, which is increased by 9 times compared to that of the pure ZnO NTAs photoanode. The enhancement in PEC water splitting performance for ZnO/CuS NTAs is attributed to (i) the cooperative actions of ZnO and CuS; (ii) significant enhancement in light absorption from the visible to near infrared region achieved by CuS NPs and (iii) efficient charge carrier separation achieved by type-II band alignment.

Annealing effect on structural and optical properties of glad synthesized Gd2O3 nanorod

Gadolinium oxide nanorod (Gd2O3 NR) was fabricated on an n-type silicon substrate by catalyst-free glancing angle deposition (GLAD) technique. The as-grown sample was annealed at 500 °C to investigate the impact of annealing on structure and optical properties. XRD analysis reveals an improvement in the crystal structure after annealing. Field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) confirm the successful growth of vertically aligned Gd2O3 NR with the presence of Gd, O, and Si. Transmission electron microscope (TEM) showed the crystalline nature of the grown Gd2O3 NR. Finally, UV–vis spectroscopy was performed to study the optical properties. A significant enhancement in the photon absorption (200–300 nm) was observed, which can be attributed to increased grain size, improved crystallinity, and large generation of electron–hole pairs. In addition, the Tauc plot showed a decrease in the bandgap from 5.05 eV to 4.98 eV after annealing at 500 °C.

Enhancement in Photoluminescence of Nematic Liquid Crystals Doped with CsPbBr3 Quantum Dots

We report the enhancement in photoluminescence (PL) of nematic liquid crystals (NLCs) doped with CsPbBr3 (perovskite) quantum dots (QDs). QDs play a vital role to enhance the PL intensity, which has been attributed to the increase in the planar alignment of NLC molecules by reducing light leakage centres and intrinsic defects. QDs were synthesized by the hot injection chemical method. The structural properties of QDs were examined by X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Transmission Electron Microscopic (TEM) measurements. Orthorhombic crystallite structure of CsPbBr3 QDs without secondary phase formation was confirmed from XRD pattern. The particle size of QDs was calculated by TEM and found to be 7.3 (± 1.1) nm. The optical properties of QDs were studied by recording UV-Visible absorption and PL spectra at room temperature. The absorption spectrum reveals the excitonic peak at 509 nm and PL emission is observed at 514 nm. The chemically prepared QDs were further used to enhance the emission of NLC. Firstly, liquid crystal sample cells were fabricated by conventional polyimide technique. NLC doped with CsPbBr3 QDs were inserted into the sample cell via the capillary action. The filled sample cells were characterized by polarising optical microscope (POM) images and PL spectra measurements. The dark and bright state images of POM demonstrate the uniform alignment and homogeneous texture of liquid crystal molecules in both cells. The molecular alignment is further improved while the light leakage centres and defects were reduced after doping QDs in the host NLC material. This leads to a significant enhancement in absorption and hence the emission of NLC. We found the enhancement in PL intensity by 11% compared to pure NLC. The improved emission of NLC is attributed to modified molecular alignment in presence of QDs. Results based on present work will help to fabricate QDs based display devices with improved the optical contrast and lower the operating voltage

Boosting the terahertz absorption spectroscopy based on the stretchable metasurface.

Terahertz (THz) absorption spectroscopy is widely used for molecular label-free fingerprinting detection, but it is not capable of efficiently analyzing trace-amount sample materials. For improving the efficiency of terahertz absorptance spectroscopy detection, we propose a sensing strategy by treating the geometry sweeping spoof surface plasmon polariton (SSP) of the stretchable metasurface. For the first time, the geometry sweeping can be realized by dynamically stretching the polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) flexible substrate, leading to the resonant frequency variation of the unit cell. This design provides a significant absorption enhancement factor about 270 times for a 0.1 μm lactose film in a broad terahertz band, enabling the unambiguous identification of different trace-amount samples. The designed method exhibits a novel solution for the enhancement of broad-band terahertz absorption spectroscopy and great application potential in the field of detecting trace-amount samples.
